Forced update

Here's my story, sad, but true. I have an iMac, alas, without an internal cd burner. To burn my purchased music from iTunes I have had to use iTunes 5.x, plus QT 6.5.2, plus and early issue of Roxio Toast. Any deviation from this protocol and the files will not be accepted in the Toast program. Why can't I burn my purchased music to my third party burner without these restrictions? I have been unable to identify a logical reason for this. Apple sold me the iMac without an internal burner. There is no Apple external b urner availble for me to buy. They sold me the songs. Now I can't transfer them to a CD. Doesn't seem right. My question, however, is this....Now to purchase music the itunes store requires that I upgrade iTunes to version 7, they no longer accept business from iTunes 5. Is there anyway around this nonsense? Shame on you, Apple.

Toast never officially supported burning tracks purchased from the iTunes Store except as data backup. This is due to the copy-protection the tracks (which all download music stores that carry major-label content have in some form). Only iTunes itself can burn audio CDs from purchased content, and that's unlikely to change in the near future.
All is not lost, though. Later versions of iTunes support many third-party CD-RW drives, and for those that aren't directly supported, Patchburn usually works.
Now to purchase music the itunes store requires that I upgrade iTunes to version 7, they no longer accept business from iTunes 5. Is there anyway around this?
No. If you want to continue to purchase content from the iTunes Store, you willl have to upgrade. Reportedly iTunes 6.0.5 will still allow purchase of audio material, but there's little reason not to go all the way to iTunes 7.

  • Stop pre from trying to force update to 1.3.1?

So like most other posts after 1.3.1 was dumped on the unsuspecting populace, I updated, saw none of my major bugs fixed, introduced only worse ones, and I flattened my phone back to restore back to 1.2.1 until palm gets their act together (hopefully).  I spared my wife the woes of upgrade after she saw how bad it made my phone react, but almost immediately hers began trying to force her to update, and a few days later me too. Even worse we couldn't get it to stop trying.
I need to know how to stop this incessant nagging until I actually see some positive result from attempts to upgrade to non-buggy software - I'm afraid im going to accidentally let it upgrade and have my phone paralyzed/unuseable again on 1.3.1.  What can we do to stop the forced upgrade other than keep telling it "upgrade me later" at every charge?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Ok, now I'm pretty much p*ssed at palm...  So at some point over night it decided to auto-update itself without asking prior to me removing patches and everything else, so in essence now my phone is completely hozed - again.  So now not only are all my patches gone that actually made the phone usable, I get the joy of 1.3.1 freezing up my phone every 2 seconds, yahoo/msn/communicator are all broken, and I need to flatten the phone yet again (and this time doing the recommended killing of UpdateManager).
This is really disappointing that the community takes up Palm's shortcommings in fixing problems and adding functionality they're lacking, only to have Palm come along and completely screw them up.  Palm is well aware of the community fixing their inability/inactions through homebrew, but still choose to force updates that can cripple the software automagically. They need to learn to co-exist, and not hard-handedly update when homebrew is present!  This will just continue to fracture their community as they've been doing already.
No matter how good linux itself has become, vendors like Palm can still screw it up with buggy java stacks and poor overall software implementation.

  • Forcing Update of Default Global Address List

How can I force update of the Global Address List (Default Global Address List). I have about 62 000 MailContacts objects which are synchronisze regularly with AD and the information feature correctly both in AD and under Mail Contact (EMC) in Exchange2007.
However, most of the MailContacts are not showing in the Global Address List. The Mailcontacts are missing both in Outlook and OWA.
What is the default schedule for the GAL created during exchange installation?
Though I know there is now possibility to edit it and that is not my wish, but can at least force an update so that it takes all the available information
    Thanks

I started this thread in summer 2010 and occassionaly still being faced with this problem.
The Problem is actually to be able to "STAMP" Mailcontacts received from external source, without any addition EmaiAddress entry from the Default Policy (our
DomainName) being added to them. Everything works fine with OWA once „Update-GlobalAddressList“ is applied, but outlook seems not able to work correctly until
     the “STAMPING” - Update-EmailAddressPolicy”
is applied. I get this error message when trying to send mail:
„Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:
    RecepientDisplayName
The recipient's e-mail address was not found in the recipient's e-mail system. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please check the e-mail address and try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your
    system administrator.“
In case there is not workaround to avoid the additional EmailAddress, then with which PS command can I run through only the Mailcontact and delete this additional EmailAddres
    entry.
    Thanks

  • Force update lumia 800: Will I still be able to do...

    Hi,
As I mentioned in my previous post, I was not able to get the official update for my lumia, even though the website says that updates are available.
So I decided to force update it. However, I still would like to install the official update whenever it's available.
Is this still possible given that I have force updated my phone? Or do I have to downgrade back to .12070 ?
    Please help. Thanks

  • Force updates across network domain

I have 8 Creative Cloud licenses for 8 staff members, and each person uses a different set of apps. I am the Systems Administrator and I'm looking for a way to force updates out to these computers for two reasons: 1. It doesn't seem to notify anyone of available updates (either to the CC desktop app or to any installed adobe apps), and I can't rely on my staff to go in there and check on a regular basis; and 2. the updates seem to be quite large, it would be nice to be able to download once and send the updates to multiple computers for install. I would like to be able to force the updates for the CC desktop app itself, as well as any apps each computer/user has installed. If there is no way to download once and force out, it would still be nice to be able to send a command over the network to make each computer check for updates to their respective apps and install them without bugging the user. Is there a way to do any of this?

  • Annoying update messages and forced updates

    Dear Skype,
I have been using your application for more than a decade now, and today I decided to untick the box "Start Skype at computer startup". I don't delete skype for now, but I am close to permanently remove it.
I have had it with your annoying forced updates.
    So long

    Hi, Kormendi_adam.
I'm sorry to see your intent to leave Skype.
Skype dynamically updates to better the Skype network and some updates include a major change that require you to update. This could be anything from a major compatibility change or even a critical bug patch. 9 out of 10, the intent of the Skype development team isn't to push out a new flashy design to be forced into your acceptance, but rather to make improvements that the majority of the userbase would benefit from.
That's not to say that you will and must enjoy it. That's why we have the Skype community. I'm glad you put your opinion out there. I'm really sorry that you cannot use an older version of the Skype client. I do hope that you will take the time to learn, use and enjoy the latest version of Skype. It has made great strides over time and has become quite the choice in Internet communications and it would be greatly missing a piece if you left.
And please, if you have any question about Skype or have any bright ideas, please don't hesitate to post them on the Skype community. We're here to help!
P.S.: Did you disable Automatic Updates as an Administrator? You mentioned before that you disabled startup upon login only.

  • Intune is forcing updates and force restarting machines linked to it

as of recently Intune has started forcing updates out overour onsite WSUS server and force restarting out machines we use a mixture of Windows 8 and windows 8.1 machines.  From looking at both group policy's and windows intune it does not look like
    any settings have changed.
are there any reason for this and can we control when our machines restart this is happening across all of our intune machines.

You can control when your machines receive updates and the reboot policy in the Agent Settings policy.  Please take a look at that.  If you still are encountering issues please contact support.

  • Screen turned orange before forcing update?

    Hi there,
I was just relaxing when all of a sudden the screen my iMac 21" running Mavericks 10.9.3, which was in sleep mode, turned on and was a solid bright orange for a few seconds.
After that, it started installing a Mavericks update which I'd kept telling to 'remind me tomorrow' - earlier today I selected 'tonight'. Are Macs able to force updates even when the computer is in sleep mode? I found this quite strange.
Also, when the update was apparently complete, there was an application icon in my Dock - looked like a hard-drive with a suit and bow tie - following a little search on google the app is apparently called 'Bowtie'. The icon was there for a few seconds before disappearing.
The reason I'm confused about this is that I've never heard of or installed the Bowtie app, and there doesn't seem to be any trace of it in my Applications, or when I perform a search. Any advice would be appreciated please?

Probably sounded funnier in your head.

  • How to force update jtable display

I am trying to add some filtering funtionality to my swing application that uses a JTable. What I do is to filter the JTable's datamodel, and call repaint() on the jtable and JPanel, and do jframe.pack(); Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I check the jtable model, and it is being updated properly. I guess it is a GUI update problem. Is there a better way to force the whole app's GUI to be updated?
    //update tableModel
    //repaint() jtable;
    //repaint() jpanel;
    jf.pack();

    A couple questions
    1. Did you write your own table model? Not calling fireTableDataChanged() can cause problems in this case.
    2. Do you update the table from a thread? You might need to put the updates on the event thread (SwingUtilities.invokeNoow() or invokeLater()) or manually call fireTableDataChanged() (I'm not sure if this needs to happen on the event thread)

  • What did the forced update for iPod touch 2g(A1288) achieve/do to my ipod?

    help would be appreciated, Sim

The fact is that the App you want, CSR Racing, requires a 3rd generation Touch. That is stated in the Requirements for the App. So it will not run or install on your 2nd generation Touch, regardless of any updates that you eventually install.
The update (which was not "forced" at all) was probably designed to fix bugs and improve performance. That update came out some time ago (even though you have only just updated, as deduced from your other post)  and frankly, I for one, have forgotten exactly what it did.
Perhaps you should spend some time reading therough various posts in these discussions to understand the what, why and limitations of the update instead of posting a new question after Illaass has answered you in your other post.

  • Force "Update document rows according to neu BP'sData"

How can I run the command "Update document rows according to neu BP'sData" over my AddOn.
This command start automatically when GPCode change in the sales document for example.
    thanks,
    Marcelo

    Hi,
There is no function that you can force the updating of the rows in your addon.
what you can do is to simulate how SAP B1 do the updating of the row.
You can Pop a messagebox to ask if they want to update the rows if they change the business partners.
    If they select Yes then
Get the PriceList that the Business Partner is using then Parse the Rows And find the Price for that item in the Price List and update the Price Column.
    else
    Do nothing..
    Thanks and regards,

  • Force update during processor intensive routine

    hello all,
i have a swf with several processor intensive subroutines within a main init() routine at start up (about a 5 secs startup wait).  it needs a preloader not due to asset loads but to the processor intensive routines.
i'm trying to create a preloader that will display progress as the routines complete but when i try to write text to text field as each subroutine completes either the textField.text is not updated or the text field display is not updated after each subroutine finishes.  this prevents me from tracking the progress of the start up.
is there a way to force an update to the display list in the middle of a processor intensive routine?  i believe flash is supposed to update after each frame but i'm not seeing this.
also, the text field i'm displaying *before* this processor intensive routine *does* display when running locally but *does not* display before the routine when running online.  not sure why.
    thx in advance,
    michael

The usual way is to use a Timer or a setInterval. So if you know that you need to create 1,000 vector shapes and you know that it takes 10 second to do all of them. So instead of trying to do them all in one function you would set a Timer that called a function every little bit -- something like 50 milliseconds or so.
Then you would make a list of the shapes you needed to create, start a timer that called a function every 50 milliseconds, each time the timer calls the function it will make (just to be on the safe side) 4 of the vectors, crosses them off the list of those that need to be created, then the function would be done, the frame would render, any preloader could render, and so on. It would repeat until the list of vectors that need to be created was empty.
You would probably want a custom class that handled this and dispatched some kind of progress and complete events.
However I'm not sure why you are taking this approach. You can create all the clips inside the Flash IDE and then export them for actionscript. Then it is just a mater of loading them and the preloaders for that are generally simpler that what you are doing.
There are also probably tricks to making things appear to be created and load more quickly.

  • How can I force update image sequences?

I am using Premiere to composite various image sequences from a 3D program, Blender.  Many times I export a draft version from Blender, import the sequence to Premiere, place it in the time line, then I find that I want to make some changes in Blender and re-render some of the frames.  Of the frames that I re-render, Premiere only updates some of them.
I did a test where I re-rendered a section with a different background color to the scene.  In Premiere it updated the first three frames, then the fourth was the old image, 5th and 6th were new, 7th was old, 8th and 9th were new, and so on.  It did this for the entire updated image sequence, using a combination of old and new frames.
I did the above test three times.  The first time I saw mixed frames, the second time everything imported fine, the third time I got the mixed frames again.
If I restart premiere, then it goes through the "media pending" screen for all of my media and it then shows the correct updated frames, but that would be inconvenient to have to restart premiere every time I want to see my new frames.
I am using Premiere Pro CS5.0.3, on a 2.66 Ghz Quad-Core Mac Pro with 8GB of RAM.  The files are located on an eSATA RAID 5 array.
Is there a way I can force Premiere to update the frames in the image sequences?
Does anyone else have these problems?  What do you do when dealing with many image sequences that you update frequently?
    Thanks for any help.

Is there a way I can force Premiere to update the frames in the image sequences?
    Three choices.
    1. Don't leave Premiere open while rendering in another
application (this is what I do).
Overwritten files will update when you launch Premiere.
    2. Right-click your image sequence in the Project window,
select "Make Offline...>Media Files Remain on Disk>OK.
Then, right-click your image sequence in the Project window,
    select "Link Media...
    3. Close then re-open your project without exiting Premiere.
    File>Close (Ctrl>W), then re-open same project.

  • Force Update to MBAM Server

After the Installation of the MBAM Agent on new Clients I would like to force an update to the Database. With Agent Version 2.0.5301.1 I could create a Dword Reg key called "NoStartupDelay" with the value 1 under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MBAM.
After restarting the Service the Agent would send the encryption information to the MBAM Server.
With Agent Version 2.1.0117.0 this doesn't seem to work anymore. Is this a known error or is there a different way to do it?
    Additional Information:
I follwed the description in this link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn505770.aspx
Modify MBAM Client Service Startup Delay
In addition to the MBAM Client wakeup and status reporting frequencies, there is a random delay of up to 90 minutes when the MBAM Client agent service starts on client computers. If you do not want the random delay, create a
    DWORD value of NoStartupDelay under
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MBAM, set its value to
1, and then restart BitLocker Management Client Service.
It always worked with the old Agent but doesn't anymore

    Hi JackAB,
The specific paragraph you quoted is to delay the Client Service startup. Not the time to check in with the database. In the TechNet article "Evaluation MBAM 2.0", in the paragraph above
    the one you quoted states:
Modify MBAM Client Status Reporting Frequency Settings
The MBAM Client wakeup and status reporting frequencies have a minimum value of 90 minutes when they are set using Group Policy. You can use the Windows registry to change these frequencies to a lower value on MBAM client computers to help speed up testing.
To modify the MBAM Client status reporting frequency settings:
    1. Use a registry editor to navigate to HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\FVE\MDOPBitLockerManagement.
    2. Change the values for ClientWakeupFrequency and StatusReportingFrequency to 1 as the minimum client-supported value. This change causes the MBAM Client to report every minute.
    3. Restart BitLocker Management Client Service.
    Hope this helps,
    David
