Forcing Client to Download Latest Source File

Hi guys,
I'm comfortable with creating a package within SCCM 2007 and deploying to DP's and therefore creating an advertisement then deploying to clients.  I needed to update the package I created, eg. an Office .MSP File and I have updated the DP's with the
update however when I re-ran the advertisement on the client, it was still using the original source files (including original MSP file).  I assume it's obtaining these from the originally downloaded content which is stored on C:\Windows\System32\CCM\Cache.
Without manually deleting the cached copy, is there a way to force a client to download the latest copy from the DP prior to running the advertisement?

Hi,
the client should after a new policy update relelase that the package version in the cache is old and should download it again..
Regards,
Jörgen

  • [SOLVED] Downloading a source file to a custom file name

    I'm writing a package that applies a patch to rsync. The patch file can be downloaded from the following address:
    http://gitweb.samba.org/?p=rsync-patche … c41d0eb4f3
    I have added this URL to the sources array and makepkg is able to download it, but it is downloaded to a file named ?p=rsync-patches.git;a=blob_plain;f=transliterate.diff;h=75d6dcbda1c17b69c0d754edc7df490074e2fa41;hb=2291d89080c8c06a66e9b01e09a618c41d0eb4f3. This filename is a bit tricky to work with, and I'm guessing not in best practice, as it is not very descriptive.
    Assuming it makes sense to do so, my goal is to download the patch to a file named transliterate.diff. Is there any way to tell makepkg to do this?

    Yes, you can apply patches. Even to diffs ;P

  • [SOLVED] How to download package source files ? they become HTML

    Hi. dumb one I'm afraid. I don't want to install ABS.
    OK, so I'm not talking about AUR here, rather simply going to:
    http://www.archlinux.org/packages/
    Over on the right under, Package Actions
    Source Files / View Changes
    I click Source Files, i right click on the list of files amd get html downloaded and not the source files.
    I like to build things myself on ocassion.
    how to get files without using ABS!?
    thank you!

    You don't have to check out the whole abs tree:
    * https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dw … s_with_ABS
    * https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ar … d_ABS_tree
    [karol@black ~]$ sudo abs community/dwm
    ==> Starting ABS sync...
    receiving file list ... done
    community/
    community/dwm/
    community/dwm/PKGBUILD
    community/dwm/config.h
    community/dwm/dwm.desktop
    community/dwm/dwm.install
    sent 172 bytes received 7885 bytes 2302.00 bytes/sec
    total size is 7523 speedup is 0.93
    [karol@black ~]$ du -sh /var/abs/
    40K /var/abs/
    The installed size of abs package is 120,00 KiB (on my 32-bit Arch).
    The files it pulls (e.g. for dwm) are the same you can get manually, so abs is as minimal as it gets.
    You call 'under 5 gigs' ultra-minimal. My full (and IMHO a bit bloated) system is about 3 GB.

  • Download error "source file could not be read" when closing tab.

    So it seems like when I start a download by clicking a link on a website and I close that tab before the download finishes I get a download error and the file stops downloading.
    I first noticed this on some site and thought it was a problem with the site, but then it happened again when I went to download the Flash update.

  • Replace sourcefile small or big change in source file if machines are already received old policy how they behaves

    we have deployed package or task sequence into static or dynamic collection with always re-run or re-occurrence re-run settings . issue is need to replace sourcefile small or big change in source file setps need to perform stop advertisement and replace
    new content update source version (update package) re-enable advertisement. now question is if machines are already received old policy how they behaves and if machines already installed package\task sequence how they behaves.

    Peter is correct, however I think the crux of the question is what will the client do when the source files are updated in relation to existing deployments. The answer is nothing. Source file changes do *not* trigger deployments to be rerun. If the deployment
    has not run yet, as Peter noted, the new files will get downloaded, however, if the deployment has already been enforced, there's nothing to be done as the point of the deployment to run the appropriate command-line. Once that's been done, a source file change
    is meaninglessness.

  • How to download phonegap source code in DW cs6

    im using dreamweaver cs6 and phonegap to develop android, i can download app.apk, but how to download java source file to open project in eclipse? can some expert advise me?

    Just an FYI, nobody uses Table-based layouts anymore.  It's much better to use CSS for layouts.  Only use tables for tabular data like spreadsheets and charts.
    Dreamweaver has a bunch of pre-built CSS Layouts for you to use as starter pages.  Just go to File > New > Blank page > HTML.  Pick a layout from the 3rd panel and hit Create button.  See screenshot below.

  • Download O365 installer files using Office Deployment Tool times out...

    Hi,
    We need to deploy O365ProPlus as part of an operating system image using MDT.  I was pointed to this page for instructions:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn314789.aspx
    We first needed to download the source files, so I first downloaded the Office Deployment Tool and used this to download the O365ProPlus image to my MDT server.
    I created the following config file (O365x64.xml):
    <Configuration>
      <Add SourcePath="X:\O365\" OfficeClientEdition="64">
       <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail" >
         <Language ID="nb-no" />
       </Product>
      </Add>
    </Configuration>
    And I invoke the command to run the Office Deployment Tool:
    .\setup.exe /download X:\O365.x64.xml
    Then the process creates a folder X:\O365\Office\Data with a couple of 16kb CAB files, but nothing happens apart from this.
    What am I doing wrong...?  I expect the Office folder to be alteast a gigabyte...
    Thanks for comments

    Please first check your network or switch to a different network, then try again.
    Additionally, you might want to check if your network setting/firewall setting is blocking any Office 365 IP address/URL:

  • How to authenticate a JWS Client download of jar files on a web server

    Here is a history of how i tried to implement the auth system:
    The resources(jar files) cannot be downloaded by any HTTP client from the server without some authentication method.
    As JWS is not reliable when using cookies (only 1.5 supports them, but with problems when in JNLP file i specify j2se version=older that 1.5) , i implemented another mecanism that works like this:
    1. 1.The template JNLP looks like this
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <jnlp codebase="http://10.3.0.62/" href="mapped/#JWS_CODE#___#PLATFORM#___app2.2.jnlp">
        <information>
           bla bla
        </information>
        <security>
            <all-permissions/>
        </security>
        <resources>
            <j2se version="1.4"/>
            <jar href="http://10.3.0.62/mapped/gui.jar?jwsid=#JWS_CODE#" version="2.2"/>
            <jar href="http://10.3.0.62/mapped/data.jar?jwsid=#JWS_CODE#" version="2.2"/>
            <jar href="http://10.3.0.62/mapped/log4j.jar?jwsid=#JWS_CODE#"/>
        </resources>
        <application-desc main-class="com.bet.blues.gui.Application">
            <argument>-host</argument>
            <argument>ursus</argument>
            <argument>-port</argument>
            <argument>17771</argument>
        </application-desc>
    </jnlp>2. All resources found in /mapped/ directory are mapped to JWSServlet
    3. The users login to a site , clik on link , /mapped/app2.2.jnlp , the servlet checks if the session is active , gets the PLATFORM form browser request header , gets the JWSCODE for the logged user, replaces this in the template, and returns it to the client
    4.Now after the 1st download the JNLP file is opened by JWS Client , that checks for latest version , requesting the JNLP file again
    like this:
    GET http://10.3.0.62/mapped/f12ks21092___windows___app2.2.jnlp5.Now the servlet sees the the request has a JNLP file name with an ID and PLATFORM, and serves the JNLP as before
    6.The JWS Client will request for JAR Files
    GET http://10.3.0.62/mapped/gui.jar?jwscode=f12ks21092?version-id=2.2Note: that i have forced JWSID parameter in the URL, that's why the query string contains 2 "?"
    - forcing this is because the mapped/*.jar is redirected JnlpDownloadServlet that supports versions , diffs - i cannot use 'version' to put there the jswid param(e.g .../mapped/gui.jar version="fk12ks21092_2.2" because the JnlpDownloadServlet will not find this version , and if JWS Servlet will redirect to JnlpDownloadServlet with correct version param in request, the JWS Client will raise an exception because version responded is not right(JNLPDownloadServlet marks in response HTTP header the version of the jar so JWS CLient will chek it)
    JWS Client expects version 'fk12ks21092_ver2.2'; to correct this i should modify the JnlpDownloadServlet and i shouldnt
    THE PROBLEM :
    on older versions than 1.5 JWS Client raises an exception because it wants to create a temp file named
    " gui.jar?jwscode=f12ks21092" because it contains "?"
    Only with 1.5 that seems to parse the jar name until it meets "?" char :(
    Thats why i wanted to send an error to the client to upgrade to Java Web Start 1.5
    Now, maybe u have a solution to this problem...
    All i want is a solution to let JWS Client download jars only if the user is authenticated by some mecanism....and also support the versioning system.
    Also:
    Note that the jar names must preserve on the client JWS Cache dir ( i cannot use the same method to pass the JWSCODE when requesting the JARS as when requesting the JNLP).

    You need to look into JAAS

  • Download Error with iTunes 10.2.1 "source file could not be read"

    I recently had to restore my iPod due to some issues I was having. After it was done wiping the iPod, a message on my computer told me that after my computer restarted (automatically), I needed to keep my ipod connected so it could re-sync with my backup file. When it restarted, I waited awhile for my ipod to show up in itunes, but unfortunately it never did. I then went to the support page for this, which I have had to do in the past, and I learned that I had to completely reinstall itunes. This is the second time in the past month I have had to do this. I deleted all of the necessary files mentioned on the support page and then restarted my computer. I then went to the itunes download page and clicked download iTunes 10.2.1, the latest version, which is the same version I had before I uninstalled it.
    _*THE ERROR:*_
    About 30 seconds into the download, I get an error message that reads:
    "Download Error
    /Users/Berry/Downloads/iTunes10.2.1.dmg could not be saved, because the source file could not be read"
    This did not happen last time I had to do this re-installation process.
    Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the long post.

    I have tried to download and install the Opera browser and other .exe files (because Firefox is not working correctly, as witnessed by this message). First, I have to pause and restart the downloads many times; second, after the download is apparently complete, I get the "source file could not be read". I don't know whether it is related, but pages rarely complete opening and require that I stop the loading process.
    I clicked to add troubleshooting information and couldn't do it. Connection failure with Mozilla.
