Forcing inactive agents off system to free up license count.

Gents,
My customer has limited licenses and doesn't want to buy any more ! He has a problem in that the staff are spread over 8 sites and some just don't bother to logout of the system. If they miss a call, their state changes to Not Ready, but they still use a license count so that every so often, other agents at other sites can't logon.
I know that the re is a system parameter which can set a max session time, default 30 ins, but this doesn't seem to log them out altogether and release the license count.
Can any of you guys tell me what I'm doing wrong, of if there is a way to do this?

On a related topic.
I don't use Express, but I do use CAD with UCCE. If you go into Program Files\Cisco\Desktop\bin and run ShowLicenseUsage.exe, it lists the IP addresses of those agents using a license.
My testing on UCCE demonstrated that even when logged out, a CAD license is in use. At least, the IP address shows in this list. Only when the user closes CAD does the IP address disappear.

I think you should review what you wrote. There is no question, hence, my reply. I can't tell by the AM listing what applications are using memory. You need to click on the Real Mem column once or twice to display in descending order.
Aside from what you see in AM, what exactly is your problem or perceived problem. You are very low on Free Mem at the moment the screen shot was taken. Those displays are not depicting your computer's instantaneous memory usage.

The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently. It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster. What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent. It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

Inactive RAM - Not Returning to Free

I have come to notice that after launching somewhat memory hungry programs, such as HandBrake (a DVD ripping application), the RAM is slowly activated until there is at least 1 GB Inactive RAM, even though actual active and wired RAM is 1/2 GB at most.
Though this is to be expected, it seems that RAM continues to move to Inactive until there is only 50 MB of Free RAM left, even though no more RAM is being used for the actually application.
You would think this wouldn't cause a difference in performance, but all streaming video moves with short blips every half second, and in general the computer begins to lag.
Yet after I terminate the application, none of the RAM is restored to the Free state, and the lag continues, suggesting that the computer is digging to the actual Hard Drive for memory.
Does anyone know what is going on, or any pointers on how to avoid this?

There are some changes to memory garbage collection introduced with Leopard. Of course, there is supposed to be improvement. Here's an article I found:

It could be an older application might not be optimized for best garbage collection strategy, and the default under Leopard might not be as efficient. A tweak and recompile might be needed to specify the best suited garbage collection alogorithm. This is the kind of thing that probably wouldn't show unless an application allocates and deallocates a lot of memory. It sounds like Leopard holds off rebuilding its free list as long as possible, so there's more work for it to do and hence a video stutter.
I think for something like VLC, the generational garbage collection strategy may get in the way because moderate chunks of memory are getting allocated at a constant rate as rendering takes place. The garbage collector thread of a Cocoa application runs at low priority and the way allocations are taking place make more work when the collection thread has to examine the object graph for long-lived objects to free. I'm not a heavy duty kernel and Cocoa person; please forgive me if I am in error.
The upshot is that Leopard may be the cause, but not because Leopard is doing something wrong per se.

Force/Configure Agent communication network and backup data network

Hi,
I have a simple question but I cannot find an answer to it.
question: How do i force DPM to have all Agent communication flow through the production Network and NOT use the backup Network?
Situation: production Network - this should be used for Agent communication - all Firewalls for this are open here - it works as Long as we do not add the backuplan to the Hosts we want to backup.
backup Network - this is configured in DPM as the backup Network - as stated on TechNet this subnet is also registered in DNS for all Hosts that we want to backup so DPM is able to resolve it
Problem: Agent communication Fails regularly and backups too due to Agent communication errors
Reason that we think is the cause of Agent communication: due to the requirement to resolve both the production net IP and backup net IP of every host we backup there are 2 records in DNS for each host. So what I have seen is that as long as DPM resolves
the host Name to the production IP of the host, everything works fine (Firewalls are open for that network) but as soon as DNS returns the backup net IP, the Agent communication fails as this network is not open for Agent communication in our firewall. To
make things worse I have seen that the DPM host Agent goes out on the production lan and tries to communicate with the Agent on the host using the backuplan. That is never going to work as Firewalls are only opened within the same subnet.
I do not see any solution here. DPM offers powershell command to define a backup lan but how do I force the Agent communication to use only the production Network?

Saved passwords disappeared after forced reboot of the system.

As I said. After force reboot of the system the list of all my passwords was cleaned up. Bookmarks are ok. FF was closed, before reboot. Any ideas how to return them ?

No problem. Firefox would not keep a back up of "key3.db" anywhere. So, if you want to recover your passwords, try to use the following tool.

Just download the free trial and attempt to recover the "key3.db" file. Just point it to your Firefox installation directory.
This should solve your problem, but there is no guarantee that the file will be there.

For applications, there is a setting in the General System preferences, or use cmd-option-q to quit applications.

I'm trying to execute an infopackage to get 0ASSET (texts delta initialization). But it shows me the next error message: "BAdI implementation FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE inactive in source system DEV".
But when I look at this BADI implementation in the source system (Transaction code se19) there are no errors on it.
"BAdI implementation FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE does not contain any errors".
Do somebody knows what's happenning?

While doing a non-iTunes upgrade to 8.02 my iPad froze on the apple screen. After hours of waiting I forced a power off. Froze in same place. Tried attaching to iTunes on PC from power off. Freezing in same place. Any ideas?

I Don't know that recovery mode would work, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
IF that fails, have you considered erasing the device using Find my iPhone in iCloud.com? I'm not sure what good that would do either of the iPad continues to freeze, but if nothing else is working .....

Windows 8.1 refuses to shut off System Restore when I tell it to do so

This problem is driving me crazy! Windows 8.1 will not let me turn off System Restore.
My OS and programs are on a solid state drive. I realized the other day that I only had 8 GB of space left...even though I had not done any other installations. I discovered it was because the System Restore feature was taking up 50% of my drive (about 60 GB).
I have other ways to back-up my system...so I want to simply turn off the feature. The OS lets me turn it off for the two other drives on my system, but when I turn it off on the "C" drive, it says that it's disabled...but it then continues to dump
backup files and drain hard drive space. If I leave it "on" and try to adjust the "max usage" for the feature in order to limit how much it uses on the SSD, it simply ignores my request and reverts back to the 50% default later on...sometimes
right away and sometimes a little bit later.
Most recently, I tried setting the maximum usage to roughly 6 GB. The setting was used successfully for a few days..but then all of a sudden, it popped back to the 50% allocation allowance. I'm thinking it did it as a response to hitting the 6 GB max in the
course of its work.
I don't know what else to do. If the feature is disabled, why is it still dumping files and taking up space? Why can't I completely turn it off like it will allow me to on the other drives?

You could use T. Kujala's method to clear the system restore point.
And then use group policy to disable the system restore function:
1. Click WIN+R key.
2. Type gpedit.msc to run box.
3. Navigate to
Computer configuraton>administrative templates>system>System restore
find

I already tried to rebuild the iPhoto Library (all the possible options) and tried to update teh version from 9.4.3 to 9.5 but the problem still persists: is there a way to delete this slideshow without selecting it ? How can I solve the problem, please?

Can you restore your iPhoto Library from a backup version, that was created before you added the slideshow?
If not, have you tried to rebuild the slideshow with iPhoto Library Manager?

after trying to find, and use screen shot, i tried to access reader
downloader... instead, found an offline version of reader. after
installation started getting false reports that appeared as avg pop-ups.
Within task manager, was able to detect virus / worm running 6 - 8
services. immediately disconnected my 'net connection. closed all active
services being run by rogue process. determined it was using two files
named "lastalive0.dat" and"lastalive1.dat" to determine it's own status...
upon stopping it's services it controlled, it would soft re-boot to
resurrect another hijack attempt. tried workaround using secondary boot
(win 7) to no avail. after two days, i transferred personal data to
removable media and am in process of installing debian version of linux.

It's pamonvashon again (the person who posted the question). I fixed it so I'll tell you how in case it happens to you. I was correct. I went back and re downloaded the game, "Virble". At the beginning of the game o I used the buttons on the side of the phone to turn the sound off and on and the sound came on! A miracle! So beware of VIRBLE!!!

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the "cellular data is off" system notification? I'd like to disable the notification so that the user doesn't know the cellular data is off.

Not that I'm aware of, which shouldn't occur unless an app attempts to access the internet when connected to the cellular network when cellular data access is turned off.

Deleting iTunes Will get you nowhere if you were able to delete it it wouldn't free up enough space to COUNT.
Don't try deleting iTunes at home kids.
