Forcing Nested Markers to Appear?

Is there a way to force timeline markers in nested comps to appear in the next higher heirarchical level as layer markers?  My understanding from reading the docs is that timeline markers and the corresponding layer markers when the comp is nested are not connected, but I'd like to be able to shift markers around and keep track of them in higher level comps.  Is there script or something for this?
Thanks!

Been away ffrom this project for a while...
Haha--so many keys have changed! Command+H now hiding AE rather than replacing footage is just one hard habit to change, for instance. Or minimising the app every time I go to render. ;-)
The Alt+Drag works to replace layers as it always has, but I don't see it force-update the time markers.  Maybe I'm not understanding the description above, but I haven't been able to get the markers in the pre-comp to appear in the parent comp by "replacing" a layer with its own source comp.  My workaround has been to park the time indicator on the frame I need to reference, then use the shift-key popup layer map to move up the heirarchy until I get to the comp I want to add the marker to.  It works, but seems too labor intensive to be the best method...  The goal is to be able to easily sync events to audio cues that are buried one or more levels deep in pre comps.
Thanks again guys for your help.

    Hi Mark,
    I just posted a new thread about the problem of clip markers not being displayed on tracks at minimum height.  Is there any reason it is this way?  It has caused confusion for me while editing on several occasions, and I imagine this peculiarity of Premiere catches a lot of editors by surprise.  Allowing clip markers to be displayed regardless of track height would make Premiere a lot more intuitive and logical IMO.  Thanks!

  • Can you force the keyboard to appear on the iphone?

    I was booking some tickets on the web on my my iphone but when it came to completing the date the keyboard disappeared, which made the booking impossible. Is there any way you can force the keyboard to appear?

    Yeah, but there was a data field - for the date, which you have to type in. There was something there the iphone didn't like - no problem when I did it on my laptop.
    Curious.

  • How to force security dialog to appear.

    Hopefully someone can help me with this. I have a signed applet that runs fine. But if the user, for whatever reason, clicks the 'Decline' button by accident, subsequent reloads of the applet do not allow the user to allow access to my applet. The only way is to close all browser windows and force the current JRE to shutdown. Is there any way to force this dialog to appear every time, if the user hasn't clicked 'Always', the applet is initialized?

    I am also suffering from the same problem plz send the ans to me when you get it

  • Nested Menus Not Appearing in a Custom Panel Fly-out Menu

    I tried to create a menu for a custom panel, using the example which David Clark graciously pointed out to me:
    http://cssdk.host.adobe.com/sdk/1.0/docs/WebHelp/programmers_guide/cus tomizing_the_ui.htm
    However, the nested menu items do not appear. I only see Item 1 and Item 2 (and the separator and Item 3), but not Item 2-1. I was expecting to see Item 2-1 nested under Item 2.
    I used the menu structure provided in the example (note that there is an error in the example - one of the closing tags is incorrectly specified as "<MenuItem/>" instead of "</MenuItem>"). Below is the corrected XML and my code:
    protected function createMenu():void
       var xmlMenu:XML =
        <Menu>
          <MenuItem Id="item_1" Label="Item 1"/>
          <MenuItem Label="Item 2">
            <MenuItem Label="Item 2-1"/>
          </MenuItem>
          <MenuItem Label="---"/>
          <MenuItem Label="Item 3"/>
         </Menu>;
        CSXSInterface.instance.addEventListener(MenuClickEvent.FLYOUT_MENU_CLICK, menuClickHandler);
        var menuAdded:SyncRequestResult = CSXSInterface.getInstance().setPanelMenu(xmlMenu);
        if (SyncRequestResult.COMPLETE != menuAdded.status)
         trace("Unable to add menu");
       public function menuClickHandler(event:MenuClickEvent):void
           switch (event.menuName) //you can also use the menuId
        case "Item 1":
        trace("Item 1 has been clicked");
        break;
        default:
        trace("clicked " + event.menuName);
    I'd appreciate it if somebody could tell me what I'm doing wrong.
    TIA,
    mlavie

    Hi Bob,
    Any news? BTW - the example should be corrected - there is a tag incorrectly closed.

  • Markers not appearing in timeline

  • Selection Markers not appearing in QTPro 7.5.5??

    Some time after installing QTPro 7.5.5, I just noticed that my in/out selection markers are no longer appearing. And no, the "hide selectors.." option is not checked in prefs, although I tried toggling that on and off but nothing changed. I'm able to set in and out markers via key commands, but even then nothing looks like it is selected (although it evidently is, as confirmed by Option+dragging from one window to another). This is happening on all my movie files, even ones I had saved with a previous selection.
    Only one of my machines is exhibiting this problem, while the other one with the same versions of OS and QT still shows me the selection markers.
    I deleted QT prefs and re-entered my Pro registration, but it's still the same. Any ideas??
    I'm on a PPC, running OS10.4.11.

  • Chapter markers not appearing in DVDSP

    I have a movie in FCP (NTSC, 4:3 SP) with several chapter markers. I exported the movie from FCP as Quicktime with "All Markers" selected. I viewed the file with QT, and the markers showed up. I compressed the movie using compressor. I imported the compressed movie into DVDSP, and the markers didn't show up.
    I looked at the various related messages here, and the suggestion to use the uncompressed file to establish the markers sounded good. I imported the uncompressed file, oops, no chapter markers.
    I checked my software revisions, and updated Quicktime to 7.1.1. per the Apple site. I re-created the Quicktime file using FCP and imported it, uncompressed, again into DVDSP -- no markers.
    I exited everything. I started FCP, created a brand-new project, imported a small clip, set 3 markers, 1 chapter, 1 chapter+compression, 1 chaptercompressionscore. I exported the file as QT with "all Markers" selected. I viewed the file with QT, and the markers are there. I put this QT file into a new project in DVDSP -- no markers showed up at all.
    We can ignore Compressor for the time being, as DVDSP doesn't see the markers even if Compressor is not used. The culprit seems to be DVDSP. Is there some DVDSP setting that needs to be set to get it to recognize markers? I've had it work ok in the past, I don't know what's changed.
    thanks for any help!!!

    I looked at the various related messages here, and the suggestion to use the uncompressed file to establish the markers sounded good.
    I don't know why people post that advice. It's flat out wrong. Sorry you got bad directions.
    Anyways, If you're exporting out to DVD and your QuickTime Movie will be compressed via Compressor or DVDSP's internal encoder, do not export using All Markers because that embeds the marker data in a way that DVDSP and Compressor cannot properly parse. If you're going to send to Compressor or DVDSP's internal encoder, select DVD Studio Pro Markers during export from FCP.
    Selecting DVDSP Markers exports Chapter, Compression and Cut markers. Cut markers are created by FCP whenever you make a cut in the timeline. With cut markers present, every time your start a new clip - or you simply use the Add Edit command (Control-V) - it's the same as adding a compression marker, in that it greatly improve encoding forcing an I-frame in the GOP.
    And, for what it's worth, there is no need to flag a marker as both a chapter and a compression marker - chapter markers are automatically compression markers. They force an I-frame in the GOP structure, just like a compression marker

  • How do I force a JDialog to appear on top of all windows on my screen?

    My CAD software at work has a Java API that I've wrote an app for. I have to display everything in a modal JDialog so that it doesn't conflict with the CAD software. The one problem is when my CAD software launches the dialog it appears behind the CAD window. How can I force the dialog window to be on top of every window on the screen? toFront() doesn't work.
    For whatever reason the dialog window is opening unselected while my CAD screen is still the active window in Windows. Is there a way to have a Java app select which window is active in a Windows session? Thanks.

    Turns out this a quirk of the CAD software's Java API. I found it by chance in the 500+ page User's Guide. They suggest the work around of hitting Alt-Tab to select the dialog. So I'm not sure if theress a property that I can assign to the dialog to make it appear on top. The line I have is:
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), nameOfModels, "Models in Session", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);The parent JFrame is created only for when the dialog is opened. I can't create a bonafide parent JFrame for the Java API forbids multiple threads. I'm going to continue searching for some type of workaround. One possibility is to have a keyStroke make the Alt-Tab however this may be problematic. Thanks for the response.

  • Can I force application dialogs to appear on the same screen as the associated application?

    I'm using a Thunderbolt monitor with a macbook air running Yosemite. My frustration is that when I have applications displayed on the Thunderbolt display, the associated dialogs display on the macbook screen. Everything works OK, just a pain traversing the mouse all the time. Can I make the dialogs appear on the same screen as the app?

    Your graphics driver's dialog repositioning option? Check that.

  • How to force dialog boxes to appear on same monitor as program window?

    I have a three-monitor setup, with the Adobe Acrobat X program window on my right-most monitor.  Running Windows 7 64-bit SP1.
    My Open and Save dialogs remember where they are and logically show up on the right monitor where the program is.
    However, other dialogs, particularly the "Document Properties" and "Rotate Pages" dialogs, always appear on the left-most monitor no matter where I place them.  It just doesn't remember it's settings.  It's a pain to always have to stop what I'm doing on the right monitor and completely rotate my head around to the left monitor.  Does anyone know a way around this glitch?
    Thanks!

    When execute the program, it seems that the JPanel not capture the all size of JFrame.Of course it won't, you're also adding a JLabel to the JFrame.

  • Chapter Markers in Nested Sequence

    I'm having trouble getting my chapter markers to appear in iDVD. I nested a sequence so that I could apply a WS matte over the whole thing. I created chapter markers in the parent sequence which show up just fine in iDVD. When I try to use the nested sequence in iDVD, my chapter markers do not appear.
    The chapter markers are showing up in the timeline for my nested sequence as pink markers underneath each track instead of the green ones which are in the top of the timeline bar of my parent sequence. When I click on them, they have the exact same info as the green ones from the parent sequence, including the <CHAPTER> notation. I know they are supposed to be in the top of the timeline bar, but I can't seem to move them. Like I said, the parent sequence works just fine in iDVD.
    Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong?

    Nevermind... I figured it out...
    I needed to create new chapter markers in my nested sequence. I just used the pink ones under the tracks as a guide for where to put them.

  • Markers made in Prelude not appearing in Premiere

    I've added some markers to video files in Prelude and I'm not seeing those markers appear in Premiere (where I'm using the same associated files in a sequence).  Anyone know how to get the markers to appear?

    Hi Jon -
    Yep! I see the speech markers.  I forgot to mention the second special case of marker handling that differs between Prelude and Premiere Pro - and that would be with Speech markers.
    Premiere Pro has a powerful workflow in their Metadata Panel. There is a Speech Analysis section in that panel that will display your speech markers. The Speech Transcription marker workflow as originally designed for Prelude and Premiere Pro was based on running the automated Speech-To-Text feature. This generates individual markers for each spoken word.  When this is done you will be able to see each word highlight in the Metadata Panel as the video gets to that part of the clip. You can also set IN and OUT points and edit clips based on the spoken words. Very cool.
    In your case it looks like you used the Speech Markers as placeholders for entire phrases. While this will still show up in Premiere pro's Metadata Panel the words will not be so much in sync (because each word is not assigned a timecode, only the beginning of the phrase has a timecode).
    I would suggest using COMMENT markers to hold your manually transcribed phrases spoken by your actors. These will show up in Premiere Pro as standard markers in all the places I mention above.
    Let me know how you make out on these.
    Regards,
    Michael

  • Why are my markers disappearing?

    Marking clips in Premiere. The clips aren't linked/nested/grouped etc. Just regular old clips in the timeline. I save and close the project. Upon reopening, the markers are gone. On *one* of the autosave files I can get the markers to appear for a moment upon loading the project, but they quickly disappear. Anyone experience anything like this?

    Hi All.
    Figured it out. Wanted to come back and post my solution b/c 1. No one does that. Ever. 2. It's a terrible feeling to Google your problem and come up with a half-dozen unanswered threads about missing markers or w/e it is you're troubleshooting.
    I noticed on an autosave that upon opening the project the markers would appear *for a moment* and then disappear (presumably after linking to the source file). I knew they were there in the project before being linked. I have the source media on an external hard drive, so I unmounted the drive and opened the project with all media offline (to keep the project from linking the files and clearing my markers). Went to Premiere Pro > Preferences > Media and checked the box labeled "Write XMP ID to Files on Import". Relinking now - markers intact.

  • Pagedef Editor bug - for nested appmodule

    Creating a nested iterator for a nested appmodule produces:
    <iterator Binds="Root.SAppModule.SView"
    DataControl="ControlAppModuleDataControl" RangeSize="-1"
    id="SVewIterator1"/>
    If a table binding is then created it shows the control binding as :
    ControlAppModuleDataControl.Root.SAppModule.SView
    And none of the attributes of the view are shown. Editing the page def from the page def editor changes the iterator binding to :
    <iterator Binds="ControlAppModuleDataControl"
    DataControl="ControlAppModuleDataControl" RangeSize="-1"
    id="SVewIterator1"/>
    Using the names below can someone respond with the correct settings for 11g so we can manually edit pagedef files with the correct names and should the word "Root" be included as this word was used in the 10.1.3.3 version??
    root datacontrol = ControlAppModuleDataControl;
    nested AppModule = SAppModule;
    view name for table = SView;
    thanks in advance

    Are you getting this iterator created for you in a new page while dropping the view object from the nested AM instance in the root datacontrol AM from the data control palette?
    Or are you creating iterator bindings using the structure window?
    Please see section "10.3.7 How Nested Application Modules Appear in the Data Control Palette" of the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers on the ADF Learning Center at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html for more information on this.
