Forcing User Sound Preferences

I'm getting my lab of 1st generation Intel iMacs ready for online oral language exams. It's mostly going well, but I'm having trouble forcing sound preferences so that a user can plug in a USB headset, power on, log in, and NOT have to open the Sound pane in System Preferences. I'd like the input and output device to default to the USB headset, and I'd like to set standard input and output volume settings.
As it is, as often as not, when a student logs in, even though the USB headset is already attached, sound input and output default to the built-in microphone and speakers, and volume is not consistent.
It appears that the relevant settings are spread across several plist files, some local and some in home directories. I've tried putting standard copies of com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.systempreferences.plist in user ∼/Library/Preferences/ folders, with only limited success.
Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, not all accounts are local and kept in System Preferences>Accounts. So far the only way I've been able to flush accounts was to delete their respective User folders.
I've done some more searching and I've seen my question asked before but never answered.

Sound Preferences Problem

My USB Headset shows up twice for both the input and output in the Sound Preferences panel.
If I disconnect it from my hub, one entry disappears from the list but the other one remains.
It works for most things when I select the right one from the list, but I use the speech recognition program iListen and I can't get that program to work no matter which one I choose using the 'Set Up My microphone' menu command.
I have created another user to see if that would fix the problem but that didn't work either.
I have looked for any prefs files that I could delete and can't find anything.
Is there a program that will let you remove items from the Sound prefs pane?
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
I am handicapped and I rely on that program a lot. Thanks

I thought those prefs were in the following file, but if another user didn't change it at all then must not be...
Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.GlobalPreferences.(12 digit number).plist
So, I'm gonna guess dragging this file to the Desktop & rebooting...
/Library/Preferences/com.GlobalPreferences.plist

Force user to enter text if checks YES check box

I have created a form with YES and NO check boxes. If user checks YES, they need to provide written reason. Is there a way to "force" user to enter text into text box if they check the YES check box?

Yes, it has to be saved as a dynamic PDF.
Additionally, there are some name mismatches in your form so the script was failing. My script defined page 1 as 'page1' while your form defined page 1 as 'Page1'. I renamed your form page 1 to 'page1' and the script worked fine.
I would recommend enabling the debugger in Acrobat for form developement. See Edit > Preferences and enable the following:
I added an additional button with some script on the button 'click' event.
The purpose is to intervene in the submission process, in your case submitting by email. With a single submit button the email dialogue fires regardless of failed form validation. By introducing a second button you can do form validation before enabling submission. The attached form has a visible button called 'submitBtn' and your original 'Submit By Email' button which is declared as 'invisible'. My 'submitBtn' is labelled 'Submit By Email'. When the button is clicked is does form validation. If validation succeeds, I call form1.page1.Button1.execEvent("click"); to submit to the email address attached to 'Button1'.
Take a look and see if it fits your requirements.

Does not retain system sound preference settings

I use a Tascam US 1800 audio I/O with my Mac Pro, but I have to reset the System Preferences to the US 1800 every time I restart the computer. The computer defaults to Line In and Line Out.
I thought perhaps there was something wrong with the US 1800, so I tested it with my MacBook Pro and that computer retains the Sound preferences to the US 1800 when shut down and restarted. So it seems like the issue is with the Mac Pro.
Does anyone have an idea what may be causing this and how to remedy it?

The permissions are totally wrong. It looks like someone has intentionally changed them.
First, since I don't know what other damage has been done, you should at the very least back up all data and then run Repair Permissions in Disk Utility. That action may fix some (not all) other files with wrong permissions, but it wont fix this one.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
sudo chown 202:202 /L*/P*/A*/*.audio.*.plist; sudo chmod -N $_
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Quit Terminal and reboot.

Could not load Users & Groups preference pane.

Hi,
After upgrading to Lion from 10.6 i got this message. Preferences pane : Could not load Users & Groups preference pane.
I am unable to create accounts and access them.
I reinstalled the lion from the apple store again, and I cannot create, delete, or access the account setup.
Any help is appreciated.

Sound Preferences

I am planning to save my cassettes to iTunes with Audacity but the user guide suggests I need to make changes to my Sound Preferences. However, the recommended options do not appear for me. eg For Input I only get Audio Line-In but nothing about USB etc. How do I get the all the options that appear should be available to me so that I can make the required changes?

Usually other audio sources only show up in the Sound preferences when they are attached and the Mac has detected them.Have you connected them to your mini?
Sometimes devices must also be created in Audio MIDI Setup which is in the Apps/Utilities folder before they are usable.

Sound preference problem

when selecting the sound effect elert sound (plays thru the external soundsticks), the output thru the usb port for the soundsticks, and the input thru the usb; these settings will go back to the g4 defult settings when the g4 is restarted. Fixing the permissions will not help. unable to get an answer from apple at this time . my system is 10.4.3 tiger. any ideas out there to resolve this problem??

Resetting PRAM has made no difference.
The Sound preferences were correct, ie set to 'selected output device' in sound effects but still default to Soundflower under the output tab after restart rather than to the available outputs. I do understand the change when external speakers are attached but the computer still opens to Soundflower consequently giving no sound when playing movie clips for example.
This is a new MBPro (March 2010) with Migration assistant used to copy software & files & settings from the backup I had. The problem didn't exist in the replaced machine. I've used Software Update to apply all updates. I'm wondering whether one of the updates has caused this problem as there are occasionally glitches with downloads/updates for individual users.

Hi,
I a similar thing a little while ago for an application written in a 4gl (not Forte) running
windows 95 clients. I ended up dropping out to "C" and using the SDK to install
hooks which monitored certain mouse and keyboard events to the application.
It ended up being less than 10 lines of code in the end whereas when I tried
to do it within the 4gl it was looked like wholesale changes to lots of code.
This option fell down when the user was reading their help file or updating
a word document so we added a pop-up which came up at the front of all applications
on the PC giving the user a further minute to respond so as not to annoy the genuine
user who was still "there" but doing something else.
I have not had the chance to try this in Forte yet but it should be possible.
If you think this might be an option for you I will try and cobble together an
example.

When they are doing some action with RF id system gave DUMP - ITS_TEMPLATE_NOT_FOUND.
With this is there any efect on Table locking.
We got the dump on the ITS screen where as at the same time in back end ECC system TABLE data is using.

How do I pass Settings on my SAPPLM User System Preferences on multiple com

Hello All,
I have put the DLL's for Solid Edge/Solid Work interface under my computer C drive and then registered them. Then I went to Solid Edge and Solid Works went to User System Preferences/ Options to make required settings on the SAP-PLM side (example setting for registering documents, creating characteristics, document load, document save...).
I have to install the interface on multiple computers now in network, with the same settings which I did on User System Preferences/ Options. Do I have to manually go to each computer to do these settings, or the process can be automated. Does my SAP-PLM User System preferences/Options also gets saved in Registery in HUSER SoftwareGedas. Can we mirror these registeries to multiple computers.

Why does my internal speakers no longer show up in my sound preferences?

In February, I updated my MBP 15" to 10.7.3. After restarting my system, the internal speakers were no longer listed in my available outputs under my sound preferences. I wasted an hour of my time talking to phone support only to hear the same stuff I had found online to try to troubleshoot the problem. Finally they told me to go to the Genius Bar. I went to my local Apple store where they proceded to look at it for about an hour and in the end told me the way to fix it would be to just wipe the harddrive and reinstall OS X. I couldn't afford to do that at the time due to needing the computer for grad school and chose to wait till after school let out to do this. Now I have wiped the harddrive twice and reinstalled and STILL don't have sound.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to try to fix this?

Sound Preferences: switches from Internal Speakers to Digital Out

I've been having this problem recently. I sent the computer off to Apple a few weeks ago and it helped for a while, but no longer.
My computer has a problem with it's sound output jack or something. Without inserting anything into the plug, the Sound will change for "Internal Speakers" to "Digital Out" and to "Built-in Output" in the Sound Preferences Panel.
Any suggestions?

I have a 4 month old macbook and experiencing the same problem. Just realized it after installing itunes 8 and since then having a stuttering audio playback problem too. When i plug my headphones into the audiojack the sound switches from headphones to speakers and back as well as itunes playing tracks in a stop and go mode. I repaired the rights several times, installed quicktime 7.5.5 again, reinstalled itunes 8 and for sure running the latest leopard version 10.5.5.
Also thought it could be a hardware problem but after reading this it seems more software related.
Any idea?

Pl post exact versions of OS and EBS.
The ability to do this exists in forms (professional user interface) using forms personalization, but does not exist in the OAF (self-service) interface, AFAIK. See related MOS Doc 399892.1 (Is It Possible To Restrict Employee Name Entry To All Upper Case in the PUI And SSHR ?) for some details.
Pl confirm by opening an SR with Support.

I have created a table ztest. How to force user to enter the values for certain fields in the table which are not keys, similar to not null in RDBMS. selecting the initial values filed in SE11 populates with some default value, but it doesnt force the user to enter the value.

Just check out transaction code SE54 for events.
Go in SE54.
Give your table name.
Go in Environment --> Events.
Here add the Event '01' i.e. Before saving the data.
Give the name for event eg 'BEFORE_SAVE'.
Click on Editor to create an include program.
In the include program write
form before_save.
data: f_index like sy-tabix. "Index to note the lines
loop at total.
 if <action> = 'N' or <action> = 'U'.
 read table extract with key <vim_xtotal_key>.
 if sy-subrc eq 0.
 f_index = sy-tabix.
 else.
 clear f_index.
 endif.
 "(make desired changes to the line TOTAL)

Note here in field symbol 'Total' your workarea will be their. You can make necessary checks here.

How can I get my Logitech H600 microphone to be recognized in my Sound Preferences as an input device?
Logitech replaced my H600 wireless headphones after they were unable to overcome the problem.
My MacAir internal microphone works, but when I switch to the Logitech device, there is no recognition of my voice.

My operating system is Yosemite 10.10.2
