Ford/MS Sync + bluetooth

Is it possible to stream music to Sync via Bluetooth? I know you can do it with the USB cable, and I know my phone uses Bluetooth when it's synced. Unfortunately I can't get Sync to work with my iPod to stream music over Bluetooth. I'm wondering if it's even possible, because I tried for about 15 minutes the other day, and got nowhere. I remember my phone (Blackberry) was extremely easy to get working.
It'd be great to not need to take the USB cable any time I want to listen to my iPod in the car.

Get an android based phone.
I just leased a ford fusion and the ios crashed the  sync program.  I was going crazy looking up information and I wound up under the steering wheel, ripping out fuses to reset the system.  It happened twice more within a week and then I used my friend's droid to test the system out.
The android based phone worked perfectly so I traded my beloved iPhone in and got a droid.  Not something I was pleased with but it was the phone or the car :/
I'm hoping that there is some kind of software update with the iPhone 5 and hopefully I can come back, if not I will stick with the droid.

  • OS 4 and Ford's Sync

I recently updated my iPhone 3GS to OS 4 and now the Sync Bluetooth system in my Ford Escape will not download the phonebook to enable handsfree dialing by name. It also will autoplay music regardless of my settings. Has anyone found these problems or solutions?

I want to report some success that I have had interfacing my iPhone 4 to my Sync system in my 2010 Ford Fusion.
Make sure your Sync system is running the latest firmware which I believe is 3.1 and pair your iOS 4 device with Sync. I do not connect my device to the car using USB; evidently there can be problems going this route; rather I play content using bluetooth streaming media. Goto www.syncmyride.com to find out which version of sync firmware your vehicle has and to find available updates.
Unless I use the following procedure, I have had phone book transfer issues and random disconnects while driving...
    1. Make sure BT is off on your iOS 4 device before entering the car.
    2. Turn on Sync by turning on the ignition switch.
    3. After the Sync system times out trying to pair, turn on BT on your iOS 4 device.
    4. Immediately after turning on BT, initiate a BT connection from the phone by tapping on the Sync BT device listed below the BT On/Off slide switch.
I have had problems when the car initiates the BT connection, but no problems (at least so far) when initiating the connection from the phone. My phone book completely loads (500+ entries) and I have had no random disconnects. I almost exclusively play streaming audio content, so I am working BT fairly hard most of the time.
Another interesting thing.. I was recently on business and rented a 2010 Ford Fusion with Sync, but not navigation (my car has the navigation system). The non-nav version of sync worked much better with my iPhone 4 than the nav version I have. With the rental car, I did not have follow the procedure I have documented here.
I am not certain if I am on to something here, but it seems like this is working for me...
    Hope this helps...
P.S. I also have the autoplay issue...

  • IPod Touch & Ford Microsoft Sync

Up until Apple's update, my 3rd Generation iPod Touch worked flawlessly. After this last update I have experienced nothing but problems.
    1. Plugged into USB and immediately it said it did not support this type of media; never did this before.
    2. When using voice command to connect to USB it tells you there is no such device. Repeat this step and it finally recognizes the iPod Touch.
    3. Now skips during playing of songs; never did this before.
I have eliminated all variables to prove this is due to the last update by Apple.
    1. Master Reset Ford Microsoft Sync; did not make a difference.
    2. Reset iPod Touch to factory settings. Though I backed it up it experienced errors and lost all of my information. %#%@$@$%% Made no difference as it re-installs everything for software updates.
    3. Tried iPod Shuffle with Ford Microsoft Sync; worked perfectly.
    4. Tried iPod Nano with Ford Microsoft Sync; worked perfectly.
    5. Tried Flash Drive with Ford Microsoft Sync; worked perfectly.
    6. Re-tried iPod Touch with Ford Microsoft Sync; continues to skip
What "TICKS" me off is I'm an Apple supporter. I have computers and multiple iPods. I however cannot contact Apple to address this issue without paying. They have no easy access to talk to anybody or even e-mail for support.
    What to do? Anybody?

This really irks me. There should be no reason that this should not work. The technology in my 2008 Sport Trac has not changed so there should be no reason that any updates to the iPod Touch should not work; unless Apple is doing this intentionally. This needs to be addressed by Apple to correct this problem. If they want people using their product then they had better make it compatible.
I like Apple products and own quite a few HOWEVER I dislike Apple for their support. I tried contacting them through their web site but the site only gives you the runaround. You cannot contact them by e-mail but can submit a request and when I do it says that I have to "pay"; what kind of crap is this? I own your product now support it, why should I have to pay for that support?????
If this doesn't get resolved soon I will not be purchasing another Apple product. For my vehicle I will put all of my music on a Flash Drive and will operate it this way. It works, it is quick and I won't have to worry about taking it out of my vehicle each time I leave. And when I add further music to it I won't have to wait for the darn thing to "INDEX" like the iPod Touch does when connected with new music.
I am not happy with Apple and I await their resolution if ever that happens.

  • Do you have trouble with iPod Classic and Ford's SYNC?

Anyone have trouble with Ford SYNC recognizing iPod Classic? When I first bought my Lincoln my iPod Classic worked perfectly--just like it should with Ford SYNC. But a few months ago, when I plug in the iPod using a USB cable I get the message on Ford Sync that says, "incompatible device". At first I thought it was a ford problem so I began testing using a 2010 Buick and a 2010 Lincoln Navigator. My iPod classic doesn't work in either. However, a iPod nano works perfectly in either car. Also if I put some of my music on a flash drive it works fine in the Lincoln. So, I'm convinced that the problem is some type of update that occurred to my iPod or to iTunes.
I have tried several iPod Classics and several USB cables so it is definitely aiPod Classic software problem. By the way, my iPod Classics work fine by themselves--just not through Ford's SYNC.
I'm pretty lost as to possible solutions.
    Thanks,

I have done some experimenting and testing with my old Classic iPod that uses operating system 3.1.1. I don't think this operating system has changed. However, later generation iPods such as nano, shuffle that use a different operating system seem to work absolutely perfectly in my 2010 Lincoln Navigator, especially the ones without a hard drive (i.e. flash drive). My conclusion is that the Ford SYNC updates have somehow not been backward compatible with the older operating system. I know this can be attributed to Apple for part of the problem but I suspect that Ford somehow did not do enough testing with the older iPod operating systems. Turns out there are probably 7 or more operating systems on iPods and while you would assume that "backward compatibility" is a no-brainer, that seems not to be the case with second party vendors such as Ford SYNC. Personally, I have given up trying to solve this problem and have gone to flash drive and a "line in" option. My old Classic iPod works exceptionally well, plus I have a spare so I can probably use these thing till "H freezes over". Being a older retired American these things may actually last a life time!

  • Music playback issues using the new white iPod Touch with Ford's Sync System

When I connect my new 32GB white iPod Touch to the USB port of my 2011 Ford Focus' Sync system, I hear a lot of static and popping noises while the music is playing. It's almost like listening to old vinyl records.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?

    Absolutely have had this issue.
Here's a fix (but I hate it we have to do it this way):
You have to make sure your iPod's volume is turned all the way up. The static will clear. I haven't found a way around this. The Ford system ***** for that reason. Shouldn't have to rely on our iPods running at full volume in order to work. Seems to kill the battery quicker. But hey, at least you'll have clear sound.
Lemme know if it worked for you.

  • Iphone 6 and Ford Sync Bluetooth Does Not Work

Brand new iPhone 6 paired with My Ford Sync in a 2014 Escape.
Bad news, the bluetooth phone features simply do not work.  You can initiate a call form the Sync and the phone will dial and connect, but 5 seconds into the call the bluetooth disconnects the phone audio and returns you to your radio or whatever source you were listening to.
The call appears to remain active on the iPhone but you can't access it.
Sure hope Apple or Microsoft/Ford step up to fix this soon it is a real show stopper.
Nothing like in the field beta testing.

I had a similar problem with my 2011 Ford Fusion and brand new iPhone 6 received yesterday.  I restored my iPhone 5 to my new iPhone 6 when I received it.  My iPhone 6 has the same device name as the iPhone 5 did.  I was able to pair my iPhone 6 with Sync easily, but Sync would only ring on incoming calls.  I could not answer the incoming call or initiate calls through Sync.  I was able to correct the problem this morning by:
    1) Forgetting This Device (Sync) in the Bluetooth application in the iPhone 6,
    2) Deleting All Devices in the Sync Phone Bluetooth menu.
    3) Re-pairing the iPhone 6 with Sync.
Apparently the same phone name stored in Sync from the iPhone 5 was corrupting the settings for the iPhone 6 using the same device name.
I hope this helps.  Good luck!

  • Ford Sync & Bluetooth Settings

    Hi!
I've only had Sync for a couple of weeks, so forgive me for being a newbie. I setup my iPhone 4 perfectly, playing music through USB and phone services through Bluetooth. The other day, I decided to listen to music through Bluetooth, and ever since then, my iPhone defaults to playing through Bluetooth every time I start my car. The biggest problem is that I have to then manually go on my iPhone and tell it to send audio through the Dock Connector.
How do I fix this? I want the Dock to be the preferred option, not Bluetooth audio.
    Thanks!
    -Eric

Well.. I just hit the voice command, said "Bluetooth Audio," then play. You can control the music through your iPhone then (as you would if you were listening through headphones).
Also, you'll notice a Bluetooth symbol next to the volume bar, if you tap that, a Bluetooth output menu appears. If you're not docked, it should say "SYNC" and "Speaker." Select "SYNC." When it's docked, it'll say "SYNC" or "Dock Connector." That's where mine defaults to "SYNC," but I want it to default to "Dock Connector."
    I hope that helps you.

  • 1.1.3 Broke Ford Sync Bluetooth

Both my iPhone and my wife's iPhone no longer work with our Ford Sync after the update. Hours on the phone with 2 support techs at ATT -> Apple during which my wife's phone was reset, was restored, was hard rebooted, none of these fixed the problem. No matter what, if the phone connects, it disconnects in seconds, or never connects. My phone does the same as hers does, but I haven't tried all the things she tried as I assumed it would not help. A visit to the Apple store was no help. Their answer was to report it at feedback.apple.com, which is odd as it requires credentials I do not have. Anybody have this problem and solved it?

It is an Apple problem and one that I hope Apple recognizes and fixes. I know there is no love between Microsoft and Apple and Microsoft partnered with Ford to develop and integrate SYNC. However, hopefully Apple realizes that a lot of folks are buying Ford products with Sync (on some Lincoln models, it is now standard and with all the TV ad hype, you have to believe that lots of folks bying Ford Focus and Fusion models will add it).
It should be a simple fix for Apple but since they seem to not release very small, incremental updates but wait for more major ones, it may be a while.

  • IOS 7 is preventing my ford car sync working. The skip track buttons no longer work. Any help.

iOS 7 problems with ford sync. Skip track button no longer works.

Sorry, I used the wrong term in my original post. I don't mean to say "mute" my phone, but meant lower the volume!
Should have read: "In Smart Actions, if I want to lower the notification volume on my phone to 13% when I'm in a meeting it only adjusts the volume for calls - not text or email notifications! What the heck is the point of adjusting your phone volume if it doesn't affect all the notifications!?"

  • Connection problems w/HTC Mogul PPC phone via Missing Sync & Bluetooth

Can anyone help me connect my HTC Mogul phone to my Mac with Missing Sync using bluetooth? It syncs great using USB, but will not work with bluetooth. Is this an issue with the Mac, the bluetooth profile, or the phone? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi-Tech Computer devices use a different Bluetooth connection mechanism than devices manufactured by other ODMs.
Although I cannot find the specific note regarding HTC devices at the moment, here is a general note regarding Bluetooth troubleshooting, provided by Mark/Space. It includes a support link to follow if you cannot connect using the steps outlined in the note.

  • Can't sync bluetooth with my macbook pro?

I get to the screen and make the iphone discoverable the macbook sees it then it fails to get the phone to open up to being able to enter the code..
I have tried a bunch of times. what am I doind wrong?

Yeah, unfortunately, Apple designed the iPhone so that it can only sync/pair with a headset. You cannot transfer/sync via Bluetooth. Again, I don't like it either. We can only hope that Apple decides to enable this feature in the future. Please give them feedback.

  • Can't pair N78 with Ford's native Bluetooth connec...

I've recently bought a N78, when my 6234 started failing me. I never had any problems pairing it with Ford's bluetooth connection, which allowed me to make and receive calls. It became increasingly important as I travel by car a lot and now it's almost impossible to bear without. I've tried to pair my new N78, but it replies that it's impossible.
I've tried updating the firmware on the phne and I had the most recent one installed just yesterday.
It still does not work. Any ideas?
    Please help.

What do you mean by not bein able to pair?
If you search can they find eachother?
Have paired any other device (a phone or a headset) with the phone?
Maybe the bluetooth device in the phone is broken?
