Forecast of SOP at background

Hi,
I am working with forecast of SOP at background, for that activity I have created variant.
Here we are getting an error
Product group/material is not allowed as an aggregation level
For a Product group, if I have used other product group then its work. I have need requirement for that product group.
Pl helps me for finding the solution.

Hi,
In your case you must be having as below:
First level: Product group -- A
Second level: Production group -- B
Third level: Material
You must be trying directly for PG A, which is first level PG>
But, SAP does not allow the top level PG to be disaggregated. Disaggregation is only allowed if the members of a PG are materials, and not some other product group.
In such a case, you first need to disaggregate from first level PG to second level PG -- from A to B and then carry out further activities for PG b, which is the lowest level PG.
I hope this is helpful.
Revert in case of problem.

  • Forecasting in SOP

    hi
I want to know about the calculation in forecasting in SOP
Mean absolute deviation, Ex post Forecast,Basic value , alpha beta factor
    How these values r calculated?
    Amit

    1.SAP - has forecast profile.
inside the forecast profile we have the forecast model
Each mode has it own calcualation..All the belwo mentioned values are used for calcluation in arrriving at the forecasted value at the end of the forecast run
    2. i have explained little on the few elements
Basic value:It is used in arrving the first order exponential smoothign value.
These below 2 values help you to calculate the forecast:
alpha :The system uses the alpha factor to smooth the basic value
beta:The system uses the beta factor to smooth the trend value
    How these values r calculated?
The below link should help and answer all your questions.

  • Forecast not generated in background

I have  question on generating forecast in background, I am getting the message 'Mixed periodicities in a forecast are not allowed In Demand Planning'. I do understand that our planning book has Posting periods and Year along with FYV. But I created a data  for Forecasting in Batch which has a planing buckets profile that has ONLY weeks  as display periodicity for 30 months . And I am using this dataview to define the mass processing activity /job. I am still getting this error. we are on SCM 7.0 . . Any thoughts ?
    Susan

    Hi Susan
I had exactly the same problem today - what I explain below worked for me:
I went to transaction Define Planning Book -> Data View Tab -> then make sure that the TB profile (Future) / TB profile (Past) are both in the same periodicity as is the Data View you are using. I had a mixture there, Weekly View and TB Profiles in Months.
(I was trying to recalculate in batch using a weekly stats model).
It seems that I was trying to recalculate in batch Stat Forecast using a WEEKLY model and a Weekly view, however the TB Profiles for that Weekly view were in MONTHS and I was getting the same Mixed Periodicities error message.
I then tried recalculating in batch using a Monthly Stat model and the monthly view, that had matching TB Profile and it worked fine then. Of course end users may not be too keen, in which case a new Planning View with matching periodicity TB Profiles may be required.
The periodicity of the Stat Model should match the TB profile periodicity of the Planing Book Data view you are using in your batch job. Hope this helps a little.
    Kind regards
    Isla

  • Scheduling forecast in foreground vs Background

    Dear Sir
In my company we always schedule the forecast by a background job (using demand planning in background option )
I was told that this helps in maintaining aggregation level (which can be set in  while defining the job). Our  planning books doesn't  have any icon to schedule forecast in foreground .Where can I enable the same.
    regards
    Radhakrishnan

    Hello Radhakrishnan,
You must also have the forecast profile correctly maintained in transaction /sapapo/mc96b.
For example, if you want to use univariate forecast, you must assign an univariate forecast profile
to your master forecast profile, in order to see the 'univariate forecast' icon in /sapapo/sdp94.

  • Forecast without SOP

    Dear Expert,
Our requirement is that we have no SOP function, but we need the forecast for running MRP generate purchase proposal. how to do?
    regards
    Nathan

    Hi ,
Maintain the forecast view of the materials & the relevent settings... Then execute material forecast from transaction MP38. Take a MRP run..the forecast requirement will be reflected as unplanned requirement & planned orders will be created accordingly.
    Thanks

  • Material Forecast VS SOP Forecast

    Hi,
Could anyone please explan to me what is the difference between the mtl forecast and the SOP forecast ? I have read the documentation a few times and still have not bee able to figure out what the difference is. Do we need to use both at the same time ? Do the forecasted values in the material master equate to the forecasted values you see in the SOP planning table ? Are these two interchangable ? I would really appreciate it if someone could explain this to me.
    Thanks

    Dear,
It depends on the parameters used. First let you be clear that do you want to do it through SOP or Matrial master, then go ahead with that. It may be same or diffeent depends on the parameters used.
If you do it in forecast in material master usually we use it for ra material where we use consumption based planning with VV.
If you do sales forecast it is used for product and we are doing with a planning stg where we control the consumption.
In SOP, we can control what to consider as consumotion or whether to take last year slaes...
In material master it is just a consumption.
Hence be  clear what is required for you and proceed

  • Mass Processing for Forecast SOP

    Hi Experts,
I have one requirement, I have to run Mass Processing for Forecast SOP in background Job based on consumption values updated in Material Master.
I have followed all instruction give for doing this process (SAP SOP Mass Processing - SAPs'WORD - We SAP For Your Cause) but could not achieve.
Can any one help to run in background job for Mass Processing for Forecast SOP.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello,
Refer KBA    1778072 - Error message MA 653 when running mass processing forecast (program RMCP6BIN)
Internal condition NOT IPRWA-VGVON IS INITIAL not fulfilled
Internal condition NOT IPRWA-VGBIS IS INITIAL not fulfilled
Forecast/historical period cannot be calculated MA 653
Check your planning type which is used for your batch job. The number of historical periods in planning type (transaction MC8B) must not be smaller than the number of historical periods in forecast profile (transaction MC96). If the number of forecast period is maintained in the forecast profile (transaction MC96) the number of future period in the planning type must not be smaller than the number of forecast period in the forecast profile.
A not appropriate entry in SOP User Settings (transaction MC79) in Number of periods in the planning horizon can have an effect on this also.

  • In SOP- transfer forecasted values from material master to info structure?

    Hi All,
I wanted to test out a few scenarios. Do you know the answers  / can you help simulate and check the below?
    1.     If I run the forecast using different models for different materials using the total forecast run (MP38), the forecast values will get updated in the material master. Can I get these values transferred directly into the SOP (standard or flexible), without re-running the forecast in SOP? What I am looking at is a possible scenario where individual materials have different forecast model, so do not want to run forecast from SOP using one model for all.
    2.       Can you have the capability of selecting diff model (say based on material master data) in SOP for diff materials? When I ran SOP, the model I specify there for forecasting is applied for all materials
    3.       If I upload historical values/forecasted values in the material master, can I directly transfer them to SOP without any change to the value?
    Appreaciate your inputs.

  • SOP- Sales forecast in $ value

    Hello,
Is it possible to enter a sale forecast is SOP or Flexible SOP in $ value of forecast sales, instead of at Quantity in "PCS". For example, we want to forecast for 6 months the sales of a product family. Is it possible in SOP or it must be done with CO/PA?
    Regards,
Edited by: Boaz Weinstock on Jun 30, 2008 4:37 PM

In the flexible planning, you should choose right planning type which has layout of sales value instead quantity.
Planning type is linked to a planning table.
Forecast comesup from history, CO/PA is used only for the cost benefit analysis.

  • Statistical Forecast not saved when generated with background planning job

    Hello All,
The system I am working on is SCM 5.0 Support pack 15.
When I execute the planning job in the background to generate a statistical forecast, the job completes sucessfully, I have a spool that shows the forecast profile was executed (Auto Mod 2) with the appropriate model messages and the last two messages are 'Data saved successfully' and 'No data has been changed; data must not be saved', but when I go into interactive planning to view the forecast, there is no forecast in my key figure.
My planning area has the forecast settings maintained for Statistical Forecast, Corrected History, and Ex-Post Forecast key figures.  My forecast profile is looking at the History key figure and Statistical Forecast key figure.  My time series has been initialized for 36 months of History and 18 months of forecast.  My planning book is set to have the Statistical Forecast Key figure as output only.  My activity and planning job are set to execute in the appropriate planning book (in order to see the forecast alerts I have selected) with the specific selection profiles (no navigational attributes), and the aggregation level set (no navigational attributes).
The only way for me to see a forecast is to change the Statistical key figure setting in the planning book to output/input, execute the forecast job in the background, and then go into interactive planning.  Am I missing something?  Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Roxane H.

    Hello Senthilrajan,
I have executed the forecast in the foreground using the same planning book as the background job and same forecast profile (Auto Model 2)with a selection from the batch run (pulled a selection from the spool list) and it generated a forecast with the same messages as my background job except for the last two lines (Data saved successfully and No data has been changed, data must not be saved) that I was able to copy back into interactive planning.  I then used this selection in the background job to execute the forecast in the background and did not see a forecast in interactive planning and received the same messages as before -
    Data saved successfully
No data has been changed, data must not be saved
The reason we run the forecast in this book is to allow our Demand Planners to view the forecast alerts by book and/or selection directly in interactive planning instead of having to get their from the Alert Monitor.  It has worked in the past and is currently working in the same environment just with a different planning book, selections, forecast profiles, and data.  It generates a forecast with no 'No data has been changed, data must not be saved' message and the forecast is written in the key figure and is viewable in interactive planning with out manipulating the key figure to be input/output (it is set to output only).
Any further assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • Mass processing for forecating in SOP

    Hi all
I ma able to forecast a material online thru MC87 in standard SOP, but when I try to set up a variant for mass processing in the background the forecasting does not work. Has anybody encountered this issue?
    thanks a lot

    Tajuddin
Thanks for your reply. I am reading the R/3 documentation and it talks about Mass processing of SOP forecasting ( R/3 documentation verbiage below) I am trying to follow these steps but it does not work. Isn't this mass processing supposed to be for forecasting in mass in background?
    Am i understanding this incorrectly?
How to Run the Forecast with Mass Processing
You can use SOP’s mass processing function to run the forecast. In this process:
    You create a forecast profile.
You create a planning activity and include in it this action (the forecast profile).
You create a mass processing job for this activity.
You schedule this mass processing job.
The results of the forecast will be different if the forecast is run at a high level and the results then disaggregated to the detailed level than if you carry out the forecast at the detailed level.

  • Preparing Forecast in SAP R/3

    Hi Gurus,
    Good Morning.
I am trying to prepare a Forecast Plan for next 6 months based on the Sales History for Past 13 weeks.  The solution which i was thinking of is to prepare a Custom Sales Forecast report in SAP with the Sales History over the 13 weeks as the basis for the calculation , spread it out in monthly buckets and then upload it to the Planned Independent requirement table (MD61)
If at all if i dont use the above option , In the system if i extend the forecast view then we can  plan the Total Consumption over there , ther total Consumption does looks for all the Sales Order over that particular period? and also how can i get the data in the the forecasting to be transferred to the Planned Independent requirement table ? It would be great if you are able to provide some Configuration/Setup details.
    Thanks in Advance..
    Thanks
    Balaji

    Balaji,
It appears you are asking about R/3 forecasting, and not APO.  You don't have to write a custom report, SAP standard functionality provides your requirement.
Standard methods in R/3 to arrive at Planned independent Requirements through a forecast are Material Forecasting (which creates forecasts based on historical consumption) and Sales and Operations Planning (which can forecast based on anything you design).
Simplest to implement is material forecasting.  For most companies, FGs consumption data is more than adequate to provide realistic forecasts.
Once your forecast is done, using either Material forecasting or SOP, it can automatically be converted to Planned Independent requirements.

  • Mixed periodicities in a forecast are not allowed ???

    Hi All,
When I try to run the forecast in DP in BACKGROUND then I see following message "mixed periodicities in a forecast are not allowed", but when I execute the forecast in foreground it works completely fine with that forecast profile and everything same.
Can anyone suggest the way to handle this???
    Best Regards,
    Chandan Dubey

    Hi Chandan,
This is the standard design in the background.
If you run your forecast in batch you can only use one periodicity and
not mixed periodicities. Per design it is not allowed to
use different periodicities for forecast in mass processing.
In interactive demand planning, the forecast key figure and other key
figures, such as the adjusted past within the past and forecast horizon
are saved independently of the planning horizon of the planning book or
planning view. This means in particular that the forecast also saves
results outside of the planning horizon for the planning book or
planning view. For performance reasons, however, the horizon of the
planning book must be greater than the horizons in the forecast profile
in the background processing. It is sufficient therefore if the horizon
of the planning book in greater than or equal to the forecast horizon. In
this case, the forecast results are saved but the adjusted past or the
expost forecast cannot be saved. Therefore, a warning message indicating
that the horizon of the planning book does not contain the past period
for the forecast is issued here.In addition, note that for performance
reasons the period units of the planning book and forecast profile must
be identical in the background processing. This is directly due to the
fact that you are not allowed to you use planning books with mixed
period units in the background processing. These restrictions do not
    exist in the interactive planning.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Tibor
Furthermore, note that data is not saved in lines or areas that are not
ready for input in the background processing. Therefore if, for example,
you want to save the adjusted past, then the past horizon for the
planning book must be ready for input.

  • SOP for Material and Customer

    Hi Gurus,
is it possible to have a Forecast in SOP in which I have different customer using the same part number? Scenario is this customer gives separate forecast for this material. I need to consolidate this forecast and load to Demand Management.
    For example below:
    Customer       Forecast     Material
    Customer 1       200          Mat1
    Customer 2       300          Mat1
    Customer 3       250          Mat1
I want to load the forecast by customer and transfer it in Demand management as a whole or separately will do. Is it possible to manipulate this data using SOP? may i know how?
I only know the per material loading of forecast.
    Thanks,
    Raymond

    Hi,
Your scnario can be achievd by Flexible Planning.
You have to create InfoStructure where the Customers is a Characteristic Value.
Please find the TCode to configure Flexible Planning as Follows:
    1. MC21: Create Info Structure
    2. MC7F: Planning Parameter
    3. MC61: Create Planning Hierrachy
    4. MC9B: Calculate Proportion
    5. MC8A: Create Planning Type
6: MC93: Create Plan in Flexible Planning
    7. MC90: Transfer to Demand Management
    8. MD02: MRP Run.
