Forecast profile not selected by forecast job

Hi Experts,
I am wondering why forecast job in background does not select the forecast profile, which I have assigned in interactive planning. It always takes the job profile even though in activity definition the checkbox (Always use job profile) is unchecked!?
My other question addresses assignment of CVC's to forecast profiles: for a specific CVC is there a way to figure out in which forecast profiles this CVC is included? Checking this in TX /SAPAPO/MSDP_FCST2 is very time consuming.

MAPE error will be calculated regardless of strategy mainatained in profile. but make sure you have selected MAPE error calc method while creation of forecast profile.
MAPE( mean aboslute persentage error) is the best method to analyse error even SAP recommended to use this method to get best results.

Hi Guys,
I am facing problem related to forecast profile. I created forecast profile using seasonal model (Not Master forecast profile). When back job run. It's try to run with seasonal model, but it's can't, so it's don't compute MAPE error. With out MAPE it's does not know that it need to go back to Master forecast profile (56 and MAPE) or not.
So, I don't know why it not calculating MAPE? Do any one facing same kind of problem?

Assign Master forecast profile to selection

Hi,
I got 6 material and two master profile whuch used different strategy say 56 and 11.
What I want to do is mat1,mat2 and mat3 to profile 1 and other material to profile 2.
I went to t-code /sapapo/msdp_fcst2 .Then I went to selection management and gave all 3 sku under product and assigned that selection to profile 1.similarly I did for remaining material.
But when I went to sdp94 and queried my material A system is not picking up the profile assigned.
When I checked I found that since I enetered all 3 material under one selection system is not picking the profile.If you enter one by one under different selection Id then it will pick the profile.
Is this the standard functionality or is there any other method avaiilable.

The issue you have is that you assign a profile at an aggregate level (for 3 products) and try to run the forecast at a more detail level.
By default the system look only for the exact selection.
However when you assign your selection you can use the flag "All Related Selections" or "also similar selection", which is just after the "display column".
Then the system should pick up the model in interactive:
"If you set this indicator, the system uses this profile assignment for all subordinate selections. For example, if the selection is PRODUCT = P1, the profile is also used for PRODUCT =P1, LOCATION = 0001. You can however specify more detailled assignments to other profiles without invalidating the more generic assignment."
Note also that model 56 is a bit "special".You can use it to create assignment in background.

Select a profile with 56 + flag the "generate profile and assign it"
Finally the other solution is to assign profile in interactive: select your product, run the forecast interactively and save: a assignment has been created.
in addition have a look at the different user parameter: /sapapo/fcst_guids, /sapapo/prfl_notsav, /sapapo/fcst_green, /sapapo/fcst3

DMS Profile not selecting proper storage category

We have defined two different profiles in DMS with two different security roles with the applications for each profile pointing to different storage categories. If a user has only one of the security roles when they store an original it automatically selects the correct storage category. If the user has both security roles it automatically selects one of the storage categories that may or may not be the correct storage category.
Is there a way to have the list of available storage categories pop up when the user has both security roles?

based on your description I'm quite sure that in the customizing of your used document type (transaction DC10) the flag
'Use KPRO' is set. If this flag is maintained then the originals could only be stored in the content server storage category which is not SAP-SYSTEM.
SAP-SYSTEM is a non-KPRO storage alternative and I would recommend you to use the KPRO storage concept in DMS.

Assigning cvcs to forecast profile (in mass)

Hi All,
We have loaded thousands of new CVCs into Demand Planning and would now like to assign then to a single forecast profile. I thought that it was possible to do this via a background job since this contains a selection profile and a forecast profile. However, after the job completes, I do not see an assignment. Is there something that I may be missing here (a setting) or am is there another way to assign numerous CVCs to a forecast profile?

I am familiar with this transaction but I am not sure it is the best way to solve this problem I have described? Also, if new CVCs are generated they need to be assigned to the master profile via the background job. I don't want to have to use /SAPAPO/MSDP_FCST2 to do this. Also, I don't know how you can assign a forecast profile to 10000 or more CVCs in this transaction?

Forecast Profile Assignment At Customer Level

Hi All,
I would like to assign a forecast at a customer level that has multiple products that roll up to this one customer. Is this possible? When I enter one customer in the selection profile and load all of the item and then try to assign a forecast profile, it does not seem to hold the forecast profile and does not appear in the Assign Forecast Profiles to Selection (/SAPAPO/MSDP_FCST2).
Are there any good document on restrictions and rules for forecast profile assignments to different levels of aggregation. For example, do you always have to be at a specific level to assign are forecast profile to a selection?

I think it should be possible to Assign Forecast Profiles to Selection via T-code (/SAPAPO/MSDP_FCST2). Please create respective selection in planning book as per your requirement. Then go to above T-code only give respective planning area and execute.
It will show you all the current selections with assigned FCST profiles. You also find few buttons on top. Please select the assign, which will take you to next screen for selection. You can given put the customer information in selection and execute which will give you all the selections with given customer.
Select your respective selection and than you can assign the FCST profile with some buttons from header.
Please read the following thread from SDN will give you more information about it.

Deleting Master and other Forecast Profiles

Hi all,
I would like to delete some of the Master Forecast Profiles and other Univariate forecast Profiles I have created using the transaction "Maintain Forecast Profiles".
Can you guide me on How I could Possibly DELETE them?

Hi Anu,
In the transaction /sapapo/mc96b load the Master forecast profile you want to delete. Note that you have to select the right Planning Area to load the Master Forecast profile. Once you have loaded the MF Profile. Go to "Edit" in the top and in the drop down you will have delete master forecast profile. Say yes in the following screen and you would be able to delete the Master forecast profile.

Forecast Profile by Users

Hello,
We have Forecast profiles that run as Batch jobs once in a month and there are other forecast profiles which users execute in the interactive planning.
I was wondering if any configuration can be made to prevent users from viewing Batch Run Forecast Profiles in the Interactive Planning.

If you have a Authorization team(or SAP security team) that helps a lot - just give them the object and the who(or what role) is to be assigned to what Forecast profile
but if you are a stand-alone consultant then try transaction PFCG
go to environment>Authorization objects> drill down to where this object is (or search).
There would be some help on authorizations that you can read to get an idea

Transporting the master forecast profile

As far as I know I think we can only transport the forecast profiles via T-code TSOBJ ,
Otherwise you can create them manually on production system directly, if you have enough authorization on the system. In our case we treat these are softconfigs as business users also want to check the forecast profile and execute the forecasting.

I would like to know if there is a way to find out the particular forecast model assigned at the back of the Gibberish id created whenever you assign a forecast profile Interactively in Statistical forecasting in DP.

Many thanks for your response.As Kedar mentioned we can display the profile in Assignment of forecast profiles and as Emmanuelle mentioned,in SAPAPO/DP440G we can see the strategy parameters.But my intention is to get the forecast Model straight behind the GUID and I know there is function module which holds this Internal GUID along with the forecast strategy (as a description),but can't find it.End of the day my goal is to get the Forecast models against the SKUs and report the Investigation of the forecast strategies.Hope I have explained it clear.Hope you guys are with me.

Selection generated with Navigational Attribute and store forecast profile

Our business has a requirement that will require for the solution a Forecast Profile to be stored against a selection which was generated with a navigational attribute in the selection. I have found two SAP Notes 329707 and 394076 shown below which point to BAdi /SAPAPO/SDP_FCST5 method SEL_CHANGE to do the job. Can anyone help me in understanding what coding we need to do within the BAdi to get this to work. Does anyone have an example?

As of Release SCM 4.1, you can use the method SEL_CHANGE of the BadI /SAPAPO/SDP_FCST5 to process the selection before saving it to the generated selection tables. This allows you to save selections with navigation attributes, for example, where the selections do not have a specified basis characteristic. You simply need to delete the navigation attributes from the selection.

Is all the Navigational attribute checked for display during cube creatiion?

APO DP - loading of selections and forecast profiles assigned to selections

I am using APO DP V5.
I am forecasting at a 'product at customer' level.
I have a flat file containing the 'product at customer' combinations - of which there are several thousand - and the proposed forecast profile for each combination.
Is there a good way for:
1. loading these combinations as a set of 'selection ids' into APO DP?
2. loading the set of 'selections assigned to forecast profiles'
I note that the 'selections assigned to forecast profiles' are in table /sapapo/dp_fcst2, but this table includes the GUID for selection ids, so I assume the selection ids must be generated first.

Using navigational attributes in selection for a forecast profile

Hello All,
I could understand that the forecasting can be done on navigational attributes.
But when I goto transaction /SAPAPO/MSDP_FCST2, I could not create a selection on navigational attribute.
Because I could not see the navigational attribute field in the selection screen for selection criteria/profile creation.
Does anyone have any idea of how to do this?
Also I saw the method SEL_CHANGE of BADI /SAPAPO/SDP_FCST5. But the documentation is confusing, since it says that using this method, we could delete the navigational attributes from the selection condition. Could any one suggest me how to use this BADI if I cannot create a selection with navigational attribute?

Apply custom GUID forecast profile to reforecasting activity?

Hi APO Experts,
My company currently uses only one master forecast method (auto model selection 2, forecast method 56) for every individual customer that we have in APO (~10,000 customers.) I would like to fine tune the process and be able to specify a forecast for certain individual accounts. We use SAP APO version 3.1.
In interactive forecasting mode, I have found the option to "Save assignment with unique forecast profile" (under Settings -> Forecast Profile) and I am now able to create customer specific forecasts with a unique "GUID." However, I am not sure how to utilize these forecasts through a roll forward. I roll my customer forecast window forward every month (ie, i change it from April 2011 - April 2012 to May 2011 - May 2012) by running a Mass Processing activity. But I can not find the GUID forecast profiles when I set up the mass processing activity. I tried deactivating the "always use job profile" button but that still doesn't work - instead of using the GUID specific forecast profiles during the reforecasting, APO will populate those customers with the default master forecast profile. Is there a step that I am missing?

If i understand your situation,
You put
Validity start date as may and validity end date as dec
constant factor before start date '0'
constant factor after end date '100'
still you see forecast for march april.
if that is the issue, This might happen as per default settings, i think the default settings are constant factor before start date as 100%.
do the following
I dont know how the screens look in 4.1
But in the phase in profiles go to Menu option GOTO> settings
there you can define if constant factor by default should be zero or hundred.
The main reason why this happens is if you try to put 0 as the constant factor before the start date, it does not save anything. so you need to make the default settings that constant factor before the start date is 0 %.
