Forecasting Alerts in SCM 7.0

Hello,
I'm trying to set up forecasting alerts in an SCM 7.0 system. In previous releases it was just selecting the required alerts and go, however in this release I cannot get it to work.
I'm trying to get simple alerts like MAD / MAPE upper limit exceeded. I've created applications specific profile just as an overall profile and I'm running a statistical FC in the background with MAD MAPE > the thresholds, however nothing happens. I do not get a single alert. Am I missing something?
Thanks for thinking with me.
Tom

Hi Tom,
Check in APO customisation whether the alert specific
configurations are maintained correctly in all respects

  • How to get the forecast data from SCM into BW

    Hello,
Is there a table or Function module in SCM F&R  that can be used  to transfer the forecast data from SCM F&R into BW? I dont see any Business content datasources that has the forecast data.
I would like to get the future forecast data. For ex, if there is a forecast for a material and Site for the next 52 weeks, I would like to retrieve
the same from SCM. I dont see any business content. The closest would be 0FRE_ANA_WEEKLY_1. But it has only the past data, not the future data.
    Thanks,
    SBS.

    Hi,
You would follow the same process as you would for getting data from a R3 system to BW, i.e generate datsources on the APO side and then set the extraction to flow from APO to BW. On the BW side, you'll need a source system for the APO, replicate datsources, set up update and transfer rules in the infosource and then load data to the data targets.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • Problem With Alert Category SCM EM 5.0

I have just updated my EM 4,0 to 5,0 and I have problems with the categories of alert, in the part of messages by mail. I do it correctly when configuring them like was doing it in the version 4 declaring in the containers the name of the paraameter of information and type, but when in the transaction SOST I see the very result the first character of the piece of information that is supposed to all data reflect appears they are declared correctly and in the HEY are everything like parameters of information.
Somebody is able to tell to himself that it can be happening

  • Statistical Forecast not saved when generated with background planning job

    Hello All,
The system I am working on is SCM 5.0 Support pack 15.
When I execute the planning job in the background to generate a statistical forecast, the job completes sucessfully, I have a spool that shows the forecast profile was executed (Auto Mod 2) with the appropriate model messages and the last two messages are 'Data saved successfully' and 'No data has been changed; data must not be saved', but when I go into interactive planning to view the forecast, there is no forecast in my key figure.
My planning area has the forecast settings maintained for Statistical Forecast, Corrected History, and Ex-Post Forecast key figures.  My forecast profile is looking at the History key figure and Statistical Forecast key figure.  My time series has been initialized for 36 months of History and 18 months of forecast.  My planning book is set to have the Statistical Forecast Key figure as output only.  My activity and planning job are set to execute in the appropriate planning book (in order to see the forecast alerts I have selected) with the specific selection profiles (no navigational attributes), and the aggregation level set (no navigational attributes).
The only way for me to see a forecast is to change the Statistical key figure setting in the planning book to output/input, execute the forecast job in the background, and then go into interactive planning.  Am I missing something?  Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Roxane H.

    Hello Senthilrajan,
I have executed the forecast in the foreground using the same planning book as the background job and same forecast profile (Auto Model 2)with a selection from the batch run (pulled a selection from the spool list) and it generated a forecast with the same messages as my background job except for the last two lines (Data saved successfully and No data has been changed, data must not be saved) that I was able to copy back into interactive planning.  I then used this selection in the background job to execute the forecast in the background and did not see a forecast in interactive planning and received the same messages as before -
    Data saved successfully
No data has been changed, data must not be saved
The reason we run the forecast in this book is to allow our Demand Planners to view the forecast alerts by book and/or selection directly in interactive planning instead of having to get their from the Alert Monitor.  It has worked in the past and is currently working in the same environment just with a different planning book, selections, forecast profiles, and data.  It generates a forecast with no 'No data has been changed, data must not be saved' message and the forecast is written in the key figure and is viewable in interactive planning with out manipulating the key figure to be input/output (it is set to output only).
Any further assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • Alert Monitor Threshold and Information, Warning and Alerts

    Hi,
I defined a Forecast Alert Profile that is supposed to display the MAPE Alert in the Alert Monitor when the MAPE for the said selection is > x %. This x as I understand is maintained in the Diagnosis group of the Master Forecast Profile.
I now try to make use of this Threshold Value Description "Variance is > %. and define  >(x-10) % but less than x % as information, x % as warning and >(x +20) as error but I am unable to make out how the alerts are determined and whether these values are indeed read (threshold >)
Secondly my Alert may have been originally based on particular selection(s)- some in FG, some in BG. Some of these selections may not be assigned to the Alert Profile and the Planner may not remember at what level the forecast was carried out to begin with. So my query is at what level of selection is the Alert generated when there is no selection assigned to the Alert Profile ?
    Thanks
    Amit

Hi,  I was hoping someone answers. It was not a profound question I believe
I am also curious to know the same with respect SDP Macro based alerts. When a Macro Alert is triggered at Cell Val > y % and it is called a "warning" per the macro definition, of what good is the information, warning and alert threshold values in the Alert Monitor ?
Does it mean the value 'Y' that I defined in macro step as 'threshold' for alert or process message can be more 'freely' defined in the alert monitor with three distinct values ? I tried testing but I am unable to conclude.
    Please help me understand
    Thanks
    Amit

Ok, so what is the problem with that?
You use the liveCache quite heavily (e.g. make lots of commits/changes) and the storage where you put your log-volume to is not quick enough to save the data.
Either you fix the storage speed or you accept that your users might have to wait a bit longer for their application to save the data.
    User Basis wrote:
    > I think it is occurring because we are managing the Log with "Log automatic overwrite". This configuration is being used because we don´t have a lot of disk space to manage it as well.
    > Al jey.
These two things have no connection.
A log queue overflow simply means, that sessions have to wait until the log queue is saved to disk before they can put new entries to the log queue.
The log mode overwrite means: you don't care about data security and the ability to recover the liveCache from a backup.
It's a setting used for throw-away database instances where it doesn't matter to loose data.
It means that the database simply overwrites log entries that have not been backed up, when the log area gets filled.

  • APO-DP-Standard Alerts

    Hi Team,
Can any body provide the information how we can set up DP Standard Alerts? What are the prerequisites ?
1). MAD upper limit exceeded,2). Error Total Upper limit exceeded, 3). MPE upper limit exceeded,
4). MAPE upper limit exceeded,5). MSE upper limit exceeded, 6). RMSE upper limit exceeded.
These are the standard Alerts i want to setup, please provide the step by step information. It would be grate help for me.

    Prerequisites:
Optional: You have specified priorities for forecast alerts in Customizing. If you do not specify priorities, the system issues all forecast alerts as warning messages, as standard.
In the Forecast Profile for Demand Planning, you have defined a diagnosis group. You maintain separate diagnosis groups for Univariate forecast. The diagnosis group contains the threshold values, which trigger an alert when they are exceeded. For Univariate forecasts these are always maximum values
In Demand Planning, you can measure the accuracy of the forecast using various calculation methods for forecast errors. The system saves several forecasts for a specific period, and compares these forecasts with the actual values. If a variance occurs, the system generates an alert
    Activities:
    1.      Select the alert types that are relevant for you.
    2.      Select the planning book for which the system should determine alerts. You can enter a selection restriction.A planning area characteristic defines a partial quantity of all the data contained in the planning area. If you enter a selection range for a specific characteristic, only those alerts will be displayed that have that particular characteristic. If you do not enter a selection, the system determines alerts for all selections in a planning book. The planning area contains forecasts for all locations and products for a region. When you select a location or a product from the planning area, the system only generates alerts for this location or product.
      3.      Specify the text and the message that will be displayed in the Alert Monitor MiniApp.
      4.      If necessary, assign the forecast alert profile to your Overall Alert Profile

  • Planning with APO

    Hi Everyone,
I have a question regarding APO and BI Integrated Planning. If we are using APO DP is it a good option to implement BI Integrated planning as well. because both of them have the same planning and forecasting strategies. Is BI Integrated Planning and alternate option for APO DP or can it be used along with APO DP for planning on certain reports. Thank you very much for your time.

    Hi Akshay27,
I have personnally never use the BI integrating planning, but based on my knowledges; hopefully somebody with more experience in this area will be able to complete this answer!
Integrated planning indeed allow to realised more and more planning using BW infrastructure. The very big advantages is the user friendliness.
However this does not exclude the use a DP. Both can be use together, for example DP for your power user and integrated planning for collaboration. DP will be the "master system" enabling you to maintain CVC, run complex statistical forecast, validate foecast.
(I have seen a simialr implementation a couple of year ago using BPS).
Note for exaple that the new functionality "customer forecast management" in SCM 7 use both DP and IP.
You mentioned the possibilty to perform statistical calculation in IP... I haven't actually seen that, but I am not convince you will have the capacity of DP (seasonal planning, promotion, like profile... MLR, POS forecast...), If you know more, please let me know.
I hope this help a bit; now if somebody could provide more information about IP, that would be great!
    Thanks and Regards
    Julien

  • Settings in Diagnosis group

The diagnosis group in the Univariate profile associated wtith the Master profile has the settings for MAPE, MPE etc. These tolreance limits are also in the alert profile on the forecast tab. Which of these takes precedence if the values are different in both the places?

    Kurim12,
The settings you maintain in the Diagnosis Group can give you the Forecast alerts which will be available to view ONLY in the Planning Book without the need to do any further configuration. BUT these alerts will NOT be seen in Alert monitor with just the Diagnosis Group.
"As per note 375965, the settings of alert monitor in Tcode /SAPAPO/AMON1 does not influence the generation of alerts." - this means that, having an alert profile or the setting in the Alert Profile(/SAPAPO/AMON1) does not lead to generation of the alerts in the first place, its the diagnosis group that is the trigger for these alerts.
BUT If you want to see the alerts in the Alert Monitor classified as an Error (Red ) message, Warning (Yellow) message, OR just Information (Blue) Message, then you HAVE to create a Forecast Alert profile and maintain these tolerance limits for the respective Error metrics in the Alert Monitor. In either case having a Diagnosis group is a prerequisite.
Hope the difference between these two is clear now.
    Let me know,
    Hari Vomkarey

  • Alert monitor for Forecast Exceptions?

Does Flexible Planning offer any type of Alert monitor for flagging Forecast Exceptions?  We're creating a statistical forecast in MC94 and would like to set up some automatic triggers or alerts.  I know APO has this functionality, but I have yet to be able to find any type of exception reporting.

  • Function that zero out negative forecast in APO DP (SCM 4.0)

    Hi,
I tried to look for a thread about the above function but I have no luck.  Would you kindly share a light if you have come accross negative number being generated automatically? (no macro is set up for negating forecast)
This is the note that I would found from SAP help, but there is no actual direction to get it.

    Thanks
    Anita

it depends on the forecast strategy used....negative forecasts are automatically made zero by most strategies
some forecast strategy will generate negative forecasts ( am not sure which of them do).. but in that case you can use a macro to make it zero
I did not understand if you wanted Negative forecast or you want to zero out the negative ones
    pl check link... http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a4/42e03fc2269615e10000000a155106/content.htm
SCM 5.0 has Planning area parameters that will enable you to not allow non-sero numbers in KF

  • Forecast Initialization SCM

    Dear Sirs,
In order to understood the best forecast parameters to be use on my data type, i'm studying analytic formula behind the SAP forecast process.
i have found in this forum this link:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/7a4025f8-0a01-0010-0fb2-b7ab22597675
It is very useful to understand haw SAP work.
The only think that i have not understood is initialization process.
    In particular:
I'm using a Trend model whit first order exponential smoothing:
We start with two parameters that are initialized:
    Basic Value and Trend Value
Basic Value is initialized as the average of value in initialization period + Trend
Trend value is initialized as follow in case of 3 value:
    Hist (3) - Hist (1)
              2
The question is how is initialize the Trend value if Historical period is > 3?
What happen at the initialization basic value and initialization trend value with 12 value as initialization?
Thank you very much for your help!
    BR
    Andrea

    Hallo Shibu UP,
Thank you very much for your answer.
You are right, this is the Equation with 3 value as Initialization period.
I need to understood the equation of Initialization with 4,5,6....12 values as Initialization period.(i think that Modeling of Ex-post forecast is the same)
    Initialization:
    B(4)=?
    T(4)=?
    Modelling:
    B(t) = (1 - α) * (B(t-1) + T(t-1)) + α * H(t)
    T(t) = (1 - β) * T(t-1) + β * (B(t) - B(t-1)) for t = 5,…,N
    Thank you very Much!!

  • Errors in Forecasting

    Hi Experts
Errors in forecasting helps us for decent accuracy.
We have 6 errors which are MAD,MAPE, MPE, MSE, RMSE & ET.
Can you explain importance of each error in forecasting?
I found MAD and MAPE are used significantly to judge forecast. If we take multiple products in the selection ID which error is use to measure accuracy. What is the significance of MSE,RMSE,MPE.
I tried statistical forecast in DP, the historical data is very random and dynamic,i have taken Historical data for 36 months and generated forecast for 12 months.
The output of the forecast is constant even i tried with different Alpha, Beta & Gama Values. But no use its showing constant forecast.I used Auto Model selection 1 and 2.
But as far as my understanding, system should give same pattern as historical data but in our case system is giving constant forecast.
    Please advice.
    Regards
    Vicky

    Hello
Your question is about Forecast Accuracy Measurements
I give you some information from SAP SCM DP Help about this moment:
Univariate forecasting allows you to measure the forecast error in six ways:
    Mean absolute deviation (MAD)
    Error total (ET)
    Mean absolute percentage error (MAPE)
    Mean square error (MSE)
Square root of the mean squared error (RMSE)
    Mean percentage error (MPE)
The system calculates the forecast errors by comparing the differences between the actual values and the ex-post values.
Use the forecast error measurements to help you evaluate the accuracy of the forecast.
You select them in the univariate forecast profile. To set upper limits for the forecast error measurements, use the Diagnostic group in the univariate forecast profile; when a limit has been exceeded, the system issues an alert.
You can also select the forecast error measurements on the demand planning desktop, under the Errors tab of the Forecast view.
You can find defenitions and formulas for all this errors in SAP SCM APO DP Help. Search it by term Forecast Accuracy Measurements.
    Hope it will help you.
    Best regards, Andrey.
