  • Self Service Password Registration Page taking more time for loading in FIM 2010 R2

    Hi,
I have beeen successfullly installed FIM 2010 R2 SSPR and it is working fine

    very urgent requirement.

Double check that the objectSid, accountname and domain is populated for the users in the FIM portal, and each user is connected to their AD counterparts

  • Can users in AD DS be in a group for FIM password registration?

    Hi guys,
Just a quick question. I've set up FIM to create users in AD and they can all log on and have the password registration portal appear as normal. Great! The question is, I have several hundred users in my AD and instead of importing them all into FIM (because
I don't need to manage them all in there) can I simply add them to a group and then have any member of that group have to register their security questions? Or will it simply ask them every time they log on? If it can be done does anyone know how?
    Thanks guys!

To provide them availability to reset own password, each user has to have responses for questions stored somewhere. So you have to import them to FIM (at least their AccountName, ObjectSID and Domain) to store their Password Reset answers in one of FIM attributes.
Once they would be created in FIM Portal and you have "FIM Rich Client" on workstations in environment, users would be asked to register for password reset.

  • Adding attributes to password reset registration

    Hi,
Is it possible, when a user registers for password reset in the portal, to add another field? For example, I have users in AD which also exist in a HR system, but there's no unique key, so I was hoping that I could match the two by asking users to
enter their employee ID when they register for password reset.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks
    IT Support/Everything

    Hi,
You can add some question but it will be not usefull in your case (answers are stored in secure-encrypted way, so you can't read them).
Best what you can do it, is to write your own small application which will work in similar way as password registration (in that case will check in portal if user already has employeeid, if not then ask about it and then put it to the portal by calling FIM
Web Service). It can be windows app or web app. (or maybe you can force somehow users to update their employee id on the fim portal directly?)

  • Linking of Public URLS to FIM PORTAL & Registration Portal & Reset Portal

As we all Know we have 3 Portal
    We have
    1) FIM Portal on port-80 :
        Internal URL- http://<appserver name>/IdentityManagement/default.aspx
    2) FIM Password Registration Portal- Port 8080
        Internal URL- http://<appserver name>:8080/default.aspx
    3) FIM Password Reset Portal- Port 8081
         Internal URL- http://<appserver name>:8081/default.aspx
I want these URLs to connect to Public Urls
    1) fimportal.com
    2) fimregportal.com
    3) fimresportal.com
I have tried for FIM PORTAL- Alternate MAPPING USING DNS -- but it's goin to TEAM SITE and then we provide Credentials >> then All SITE CONTENT >> then Microsoft Forefront Identity
    Then we have the portal.
We want whenever user browse "fimportal.com" >> goes to http://<appserver name>:8080/default.aspx  url >> ask for credentials >> Fim Portal.
    Please suggest.

    FIM Password Registration Portal :
    Open the 8080 Port.
    Add a “A” Record for http://<appserver name>:8080/default.aspx in
DNS and pointing it to Public IP.
    FIM Password Reset Portal :
    Open the 8081 Port.
    Add a “A” Record for  http://<appserver name>:8081/default.aspx  in
DNS and pointing it to Public IP.
    FIM Portal:
We can Redirect to the FIM Portal.

  • How to up the timeout setting to solve password reset portal error "Authentication gate timed out waiting for a challenge response"?

    Hi Everyone,
We have the password portal up and running on one box and another server with FIM R2 and SharePoint 2010.  All is good with the exception that our end users typically get distracted during the password registration and/or reset process and receive:
"An error has occurred. Please try again, and if the problem persists, contact your help desk or system administrator. (Error 3000) ".  The timeout kicks in after 5 minutes of inactivity in the browser.
The FIM Service log shows the following:
"Authentication gate timed out waiting for a challenge response".
I have confirmed that the default password portal web.config setting is <add key="SessionTimeoutInMinutes" value="20" />.
We have also updated Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe.config per this
article to the following but with no luck:
    <resourceManagementClient resourceManagementServiceBaseAddress="myAddress" timeoutInMilliseconds="600000" />
      <resourceManagementService externalHostName="myHost" dataReadTimeoutInSeconds="600" dataWriteTimeoutInSeconds="600"/>
We did not update the Windows SharePoint Servicesweb.config setting per the article about since we are on SharePoint 2010.
There is no NLB or firewall in front on this server.
If anyone has any solution to how to solve this on FIM R2/SharePoint 2010 please let me know.
    Cheers!

    FIM_Admin,
You could try changing the receiveTimeoutInSeconds parameter of the resourceManagementService node in your Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe.config file. However, you are warned not to do this unless instructed to by MS customer support.

  • Custom Field In User Registration Portal

    Hello,
Is there a way I can add a custom field during user password registration in FIM 2010 R2? I want to have a field to set a User PIN where user can enter a value and it can be used in future by user or helpdesk when user is not able to answer other secret
questions.  I can not add it as one of the questions in QA gate as I don't want it to appear in initial Q&A when a user tries to reset his password. It should only appear when he is not able to answer other questions.
    Any ideas are welcome
    Thanks,
    Nagendra

Unless you plan to modify the core web pages then this is not supported out of the box.  Modifying the core web pages isn't supported as far as I am aware so proceed at your own risk.

  • SSPR registration and reset started to fail after renewing the certificates

    Hi,
On our FIM 2010 R2 environment (version 4.1.3599.0), after renewing the certificates used on FIM Service/Portal and Password Reset/Registration servers two days back, both the password registration and reset no longer work but instead fails on the  last
step of the process. So for example when user browse to https://passwordreset.domain.com and fills in their domain\username and click next, FIM will send a security code (SMS OTP) to user´s mobile phone and once user then fills in code and click Next, the
Communication error 3008 is shown to user. Same happens in the last step of the registration where user reviews that the mobile number is correct before clicking finally next. Once clicked the same error as is with Reset portal is shown to user.
Other changes than renewing the certificates have not been done to the environment after it was working last time two days ago. Synchronization of users/groups create in FIM Portal works normally towards AD.
All servers within FIM environment are on same domain and subnet and firewall is off on all servers.
The following error message as an example is recorded on FIM app log on either of the SSPR servers (two in NLB):
The error page was displayed to the user.
    Details:
    Title: Communication Error
Message: An error has occurred. Please try again, and if the problem persists, contact your help desk or system administrator. (Error 3008)

Both http://fimservice.domain.com:5726 or http://fimservice.domain.com:5725 can be accessed ok using web browser from the SSPR servers. The url of http://fimservice.domain.com:5726/ResourceManagementService/SecurityTokenService/Registration gives http 400 bad

Can anyone help us with this and provide some tips what to check next on the environment? As the most weird thing here is that everything was working just fine before the certificates were renewed on all servers and no other changes were done on the environment.

    Hi,
Have you Stop-Start the FIM Service? If not then try this after performing this step. Also, there may be a possibility that the service won't be able to start if there is issue with the certificate.
The SSPR issue is related to certificate only, which might have some missmatch in the thumbprint value or some other problem.
If there is a problem with thumbprint of certificate, then you might see error in the Event Viewer and which can be resolved by making the certificate's thumbprint same within registry.

  • Unable to set supervisor password on Satellite L755 BIOS

Hi, I'm hoping that someone can help me with this issue - I have a toshiba L755 laptop, and was setting up the security protocols on the bios but was unable to set up the supervisor password.
I registered the user password, as well as the hdd password - both user and master passwords worked for the hdd password, but when I try to select (by pressing the down arrow from the user password on the bios password section) the supervisor password, it just skips over it.
Please, any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to set supervisor password using option in Toshiba Assist > secure > Supervisor password? It is small Toshiba utility designed for supervisor password registration.

  • FIM 2010 Reporting installation reinstalls FIM portal

    Hi,
We have FIM 2010 R2 running in production environment. We have added some of our custom developed sharepoint forms inside FIM's sharepoint site to enhance the User Interface.
We now want to deploy FIM reporting feature. But, the installer of FIM re-installs the FIM portal along with installing reporting feature. After reporting feature installation wizard completes, we see that all our customized sharepoint pages are lost and
default FIM web portal appears again.
Is there any method of installing reporting feature withou reinstalling FIM portal?

I would start with the IIS Bindings -- to which IPs and names is the Password Registration Portal bound?
Try to access the site directly. It could simply be that the link is incorrect. The link is stored on the FIM Portal server in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Portal  and look at the value of

  • Datagrid with expandable rows

    Hi.
I`m using an AdvancedDatagrid to display users data.
I want to hide some of the datafields, and only show it on
    user interaction. For example:
I have four columns: id, email, username, registration_time
Theese are displayed, but when the user clicks on a button in
one of the rows, the row expands and shows the other data like
password, registration ip, etc. (some of them have to be editable)
    Any solution to this?
    Thanks a lot.

i do have the same requirements.. any updates
    please!~~

  • Where are application license keys stored?

Is there a file folder that contains all my license keys?
One of my programs lost it's key (SnapzPro). . . I've had no problem with it for 7 years and 2 machines.
I can't find my original email with the product key . . . is there a way to locate it in one of my back ups?

Instead of saving emails, I use 1Password & Passwords Plus. Both are shareware. However, there are quite a few FREE Password Retriever software.
Like BDAqua, I also use a text edit program to keep a list of my passwords, registrations, etc. which I print out & keep in a 3 ring note book for those +"just in case"+ moments.
