Foreign Language Fonts/Keyboards For Word For Mac
If I purchase Word for Mac will I be able to import phonetic language keyboards which I created through Word on a PC? If I can import them will I be able to use them, or will I ultimately be limited to the current language/keyboard options in OS?
For OS X you make your own keyboards using
http://scripts.sil.org/ukelele
PC keyboard layouts are not usable. But I don't know what you are referring to when you say "created through Word". Best ask about that in the Word forum:

Farsi Persian fonts keyboard for iPad.
Hi Everybody,
Does anybody know if Farsi or Persian language fonts keyboard can be use in iPad please?
I looked at the iPad's keyboard setting but the fonts are not included, I thought it may be available by another party.
ThanksYou can ask Apple to add that here:

In the meantime, there are a couple keyboard apps which may be useful. Go to the iTunes app store and search for Persian or Farsi -
Font Sampler for Mac OSX is a small freeware utility to help you view your fonts. Font Sampler allows you to view all your fonts in one big list. It supports different colors of backgrounds and text, size, your own custom phrase to view the fonts in, and the ability to underline the fonts.
http://dotsw.com/fontsampler.htmlI can understand why they make it look like that, but the older versions are free, it's just the new pre-release that actually requires it, you can skip the donation here...

Where can I find mechanical keyboard for mac with nordic layout?
I could find mechanical keyboards for mac, just not in nordic layout.
On nordic layout keyboards, we have these letters: Æ Ø Å on the right side of the keyboard
Additional physical keys are not needed, and no keyboard is likely to provide them. Instead, a keyboard translation table (software already included in your Mac) is used to change the function of the keys to the right of and below the P key.
In the three Norweigian keyboard translations, those key translations [ Æ Ø Å ]are provided. One of the Swedish translations provides them as well. The only thing missing is the graphic on the standard key-cap. Use a sticker or a sharpie marker to write the graphic on the key. -

IHome iConnect Multi Media Keyboard for Mac
I have an iHome iConnect Multi Media Keyboard for Mac. It was working great until an Apple update didn't like it anymore. It locked up my computer and because I didn't know what was wrong cost me $300 to fix. I've contacted iHome, but gotten no where with them. This happened last summer! No one seems to want to take responsibility for the fact that I have a $100 keyboard I can't use. Anybody else run into this? If so what did you do?
Everything back to normal today compared with yesterday as link here:

I need to add a foreign language fonts. How do I do it?

There were 2 armenian fonts and I added them to my keyboard. However, most of the keys are typing square boxes...!!!!!
Are you really not able to type it right here on this site like I can below? The top row of keys is
(HM QWERTY) ճւերտյւիոպ
(Western QWERTY) խվէրդեըիոբ
I am wondering if you are perhaps trying to type into MS Word? That app tends to be defective. If so, try selecting the text and setting the font to Mshtakan, which is a complete Armenian font that comes with OS X. -
How do you install foreign language fonts?

Nobody here has any way to tell you that, and Apple itself never provides this kind of info. Make sure you tell them you want it here:

1602 errors when trying to install the Extended Asian Language font pack for Adobe Reader XI
My company is trying to deploy Adobe Reader XI 11.0.10 with the Extended Asian Language font pack via SCCM 2007, and some computers are failing the install of the Extended Asian Language font pack with 1602 error. Reader is installing successfully, but the font pack log file will have this entry:
ADelRCP logging: : In Process : MsiExec.exe
ADelRCP logging: : Setup terminated because critical files are in use or applications that interfere with files installed by setup are running. Review the preceding entries in the log file and close the applications listed before retrying setup.
CustomAction ApplicationInUse returned actual error code 1602 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Action ended 9:08:42: ApplicationInUse. Return value 2.
Action ended 9:08:42: INSTALL. Return value 2.
Our automation to install this is killing Reader and Acrobat before running the Reader 11.0.10 install, so I do not know what would be in use here.
I appreicate any suggestions you have. I can provide the entire log file, upon request. Thanks.Moving this discussion to the Adobe Reader forum.

Install Foreign Language Fonts
Hello,
I am trying to install foreign language unicode fonts (Japanese) on my Macbook Pro. In particular, I am trying to install these fonts: http://www.dennybritz.com/ttf30.zip. The fonts install fine under Windows.
However, Mac OS X does not recognize them as unicode or Japanese fonts. The font name contains weird characters and I cannot use them when typing in Japanese.
Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Denny
Message was edited by: dennybritzDenny, I tried installing the two “marugo” fonts from the archive using Font Book, and they installed fine. I then tried using them: the katakana came out OK while typing, but not the kanji — however, kanji typed in a standard Apple Japanese font could be copied and pasted, and the font could then be changed to one of those in the archive.
I suspect that the problem is that these fonts date back to 2000, and that they were made for Windows; the reason that the font names appear strange is because the character set of the font names is encoded in Shift JIS, while the bytes in those names are treated as being MacRoman under Mac OS X. (Their intended names can be seen [here|http://www.wazu.jp/gallery/Fonts_Japanese.html] — search for “EPSON” in that page.) The font files would likely need to be modified (using an appropriate tool, e.g. FontForge) to work as expected under Mac OS X. -
Khmer Language, Fonts, Keyboard Layouts?
I'm trying to create web content and other documents in the Khmer language of Cambodia. Can anyone tell me where to get a keyboard layout for Mac OS?
How can I set the language to Khmer if I don't see it in the list?
Finally, will TextEdit or Pages allow me to type in Khmer characters and convert them to Unicode? I have the Limon Unicode font installed, but don't know how to use it. Can anyone help? Can anyone tell me
where to get a keyboard layout for Mac OS?
This might be a source (you could write and ask about the status):
http://www.xenotypetech.com/osxCambodian.html
Or you could make one using this tool:
http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?siteid=nrsi&itemid=ukelele
How can I set the language to Khmer if I don't see it
in the list?
If you mean System Preferences/International/Languages, then use the Edit button to add it. However, this will not really change anything on your machine, since no Khmer localization is available.
Finally, will TextEdit or Pages allow me to type in
Khmer characters and convert them to Unicode? I have
the Limon Unicode font installed, but don't know how
to use it.
TextEdit and Pages and similar OX apps produce Unicode by default. Could you provide the url for your font? I think Limon may not be Unicode. One source for Unicode fonts is here
http://www.travelphrases.info/gallery/Fonts_Khmer.html
Without a keyboard, you can input directly from the Character Palette. View = Unicode, Tab = Unicode Blocks, block = Khmer (or Tab = Unicode Table, 1780 and onward).
It may not be possible to display totally correct Khmer with the currently available fonts, which are designed for Windows. You will need to try and see how it works.
Let me know if you have more questions.
PS You can also work in OS9/Classic mode with tools like this:

Captivate 5 English-to-Foreign-Language Font Errors
I am working with a large client who has experienced translation errors in Captivate 4 transfers to Captivate 5. The font they've used didn't translate into Chinese, and when the course was updating to Cap 5, everything basically broke.
My inquiry is about which Captivate fonts can translate into the top 15 foreign languages most widely used in BOTH Captivate 4 and Cap 5? Has anyone done any research into this area? Does anyone knows which fonts DO and DON'T translate fully given all the necessary symbols and characters in both versions?
Thanks for your help!
SteveHi Steve,
Welcome to captivate forum.
I did not get the scenario exactly.
Are you facing the issues with the text caption font, when captivate 4 project created in english version tried to open in captivate 5 chinese version?
Is it with the font type or caption text?

Font problems between Word and MAC
I used MS Word on Windows PC and created lot of documents using TSCu Inaimathi tamil font. When I open those files in my MAC, its all weird characters. How do i fix this? Also, when I create new files in MAC, using the same font, I can read it in Windows.
Can someone help?
Thanks
dheepa
Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.5)When I
open those files in my MAC, its all weird characters.
There could be two issues:
If the text is Unicode, then MS Word for Mac can't handle it (MS Mac products can't do any Unicode Indic script yet). Try opening the doc with TextEdit instead.
If the text is not Unicode, but TSCII encoding, then you must install the exact font that produced it on your Mac. OS X only includes Unicode fonts, not old legacy encodings.
All Tamil produced on OS X with the Inamathi font that comes with it will be Unicode and should be readable in Word 2004 OK.

Hi all
I have an Authorware piece which gets screen text and image
references from an Access database using ODBC.
My remit is now to produce the piece for several Foreign
languages. Some of them such as Polish and Czech have special
characters.
When I copy the text into the database or even a text
processor, these special characters display OK. However when I try
to put them into Authorware in Display Icons, the characters do not
show correctly.
I am sure that there must be something I am missing on the
properties side, so can anyone please advise.
Thanks in advance.

I don't think native Authorware text handles unicode very
well. You may be
able to get rtfOb.u32 to handle it.
