Forever taking synchronization

Hi here,
I have one short and important question. I did copy all my apps from iPhone to computer to new installed iTunes. Did not use this before. I have old 3G 8 GB one, but cuz started to have problems as my all undefault apps stopped working and crashing even before opening, I got advice to installs one app no matter as much which through iTunes, and then restart, which should fix it, but I decided also reorganized all apps and delete some, so I did as I told, copied all to iTunes, rearranged, and marked only apps i want now. Then started syncing, but it is sincing 5 hours and still is not even 30% done of backup, which is only 1st step.
Is normal it takes so much, if I have only 5,5 GB data taking memory? What does ppl with 32 giga data backup? taking a week? Pls tell me if all is normal or unnormal. I am truly afraid, my iphone is for trash. My iOS is just 3.4 or something as that, but without ending this process i cant upgrade. Already am afraid from upgrading though.

I wanted to mention in case it is important to anyone else, that switching from the RAID on mode to Auto/ATA using the mergeide.reg method described in the thread below fixed all my outstanding iTunes problems (in particular the synchronization issue).
http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=xpsdeskhddr&message.id=4506
As a caution, Mircrosoft doesn't support this method. It is more of a use at your own risk kind of thing, and it takes a modicum of technical competence to follow the instructions.
I want to apologize if I have implied in the thread or other posts that Apple needs to get its act together. My current opinion after getting such a dramatic improvement from changing a BIOS setting is that most if not all my issues have been a result of a conflict between Vista and a commonly used RAID controller.

  • Aperture export to Facebook

    Hello. I'm forever taking photo's and running them through aperture to do all the adjustments I want, then exporting them to the desktop in order to upload them onto my Facebook account. As you can imagine this can take a long time and is very tedius.
    I recently found a plug in for Aperture using Google, made by some guy who worked on the iPhoto plug in apparently, so I have downloaded this but it does not seem to work. There are two steps, preparing the images and creating the album, however it only ever does the first step and then just stops.
    So is there anyway of sharing all of the photo's in Aperture with iPhoto so that I can use the iPhoto plug in, but without making duplicate copies, i.e so that everything is still stored in Aperture but I'm able to export the versions from iPhoto? Unless there is an easier way to export directly from Aperture.

    Hi there - not sure if you subscribe to this, but someone might find this answer useful!
    You can use the Facebook Exporter for Aperture plugin from:
    http://seanfarley.org/aperture/
    to upload your pictures, create albums, even tag people before they go up!

  • How do I remove a subview added using self.view addSubview ?

    This is the initial code:
    [self.view addSubview:newView];
    OK, now the view is up.
    Now...how to remove it ?
    When I remove it...is the information [say there is a textfield in newView] still retain or gone for good ?

    To remove any subview, send it the removeFromSuperview message. Of course you can't make use of this message unless you know the address of the subview. There are two good ways to find the subview:
    1) Assign a tag number, then remove the subview like this:
    // MyController.m
    UIView *subView = [self.view viewWithTag:NN];
    [subView removeFromSuperview];
    2) Save a pointer to the subview in an ivar:
    // MyController.h
    @interface MyController: UIViewController {
    UITextField *subView;
    @property (nonatomic, retain) UITextField *subView;
    @end
    When I remove it...is the information say there is a textfield in newView still retain or gone for good ?
    In the first example, the only thing retaining the subview was the superview. In other words, addSubview retains, but if the subview hasn't been retained anyplace else, removeFromSubview releases it, and it's gone forever, taking its data with it.
    But in the second example, the subview was retained by the ivar (by the setter declared in the @property). The subview can then be added and removed from the superview multiple times without being deallocated, since its retain count will remain above zero until it's released by the ivar.
    So if you want to keep a text field (and its data) after removing it from the superview, use the second example.

  • IMac won't turn on after power cut

    When my iMac is unexpectedly turned off, ether at the wall or during a power cut, it won't then come back on immediately.  Sometimes it will come back on after an hour, sometimes after a couple of days.  Anyone know why this is? There is no logic to it. I've tried all the trouble shooting stuff; the resetting SMC for example. And I've got a surge protector. I've also taken it into an Apple store, a round trip of 3 hours, twice already over the past couple of months.  But after doing some diagnostic tests on it they can find nothing wrong.  Also, when they go to turn it on, it fires up immediately.  I was told that unless they experience the problem themselves they can't do anything.  Which means I'm forever taking it in to them, during this problem, on the off chance it may still be a problem when I get there.  It's very infuriating. Help!!!

    Great advice.  And I'll definitely do that - need to get my Mac back on and working before that however.

  • Crazy CPU

    I have 10.4.8 server on a dual g5 xserve.
    i have CPU at 95-100% and can't determine what is eating the CPU. Activity monitor does not have any thing higher than 8% and the total for all processes is like 20% tops.
    when i run top -o cpu
    same thing nothing stands out as eating the cpu.
    this box only has AFP, SMB, HTTP running.. and none of them have connections.
    even after a reboot i'm at 100% what can i run to find out the runaway process(s)?

    I experienced similar after enabling ClamAV (virus scanner). I call it a misconfiguration from Apple's side, others may name it a "feature", but ClamAV scans all incoming messages (including those that are later rejected). This consumes a lot of CPU resources if you receive much spam.
    You may decide to disable ClamAV or reconfigure it (there is a good article somewhere about how to do this, but requires terminal access).
    An other issue may that a terminal connection you ran previously broke while keeping a zombie process (e.g. working in a command line text editor, connection breaks and then you have this process probably living forever taking much CPU).
    You can kill a process either at the GUI (system activity tool) or on command line: Run "top" to find the PID (process ID), then type "kill <PID>".
    But I agree, a complete listing of top output could bring more light into this, anything else is guessing.

  • Old time machine backups on new computer?

    I migrated to a new mac. I have a time capsule. Can I set up time machine on the new mac to use all the backups from my old mac? Or do I start over?

    Technically, you can. But practically, in this case, you probably don't want to.
    TM backs-up whole systems, not just drives and data. If you back up two or more Macs to the same drive or TC, TM will keep them separate. You can view and restore from backups from other machines by holding down the Option key while selecting the TM menubar icon, changing +Enter Time Machine+ to +Browse Other Time Machine Disks.+ Since your old and new Macs are different machines, this would work.
    But there's a problem: since the backups are for a different Mac, TM on you new Mac won't automatically delete the old series in the normal fashion. Unless you delete them, they'll be there forever, taking up space you need for new backups.
    Worse, it's very tedious to delete them manually. Do not use the Finder, but you can delete the old backups, one at a time, via the TM interface. It's a long, tedious process ... and much longer on a TC.

  • After installing SP3 for BO XI R1 - Crystal Reports taking forever to run.

    Hello,
    We are running BO XI R1 SP3.  Ever since installing SP3 a number of our scheduled Crystal Reports are taking forever to run.  The Business Objects server resources are okay, CPU never really gets above 50% so I figure perhaps it's our SQL Server.
    We run SQL 2005 and CPU on that hovers around 30%, we've got 4 2.6GHz CPUs with 16GB of RAM.  Looking in SQL Server activity monitor the reason the reports are taking some time is that the wait types are generally CXPACKET.
    For example a report used to process in a minute however after installing SP3 the report now takes several hours.  Since we've 4 CPU's on our SQL Server activity monitor creates four sessions for the report to try and process it in parallel.  However all of those four sessions have a wait type of CXPACKET.  This I understand is related to parallelism and people have said to reduce that so nothing runs in parallel.
    However I should not have to do that as things used to run just fine, there is no physical reason (i.e. RAM / CPU / HDD) that reports are locked waiting in SQL server.  Has anyone else had this issue or have any suggestions on how to fix please?
    Kind regards,
    Chris Rutherford

    XIR2 has two different redistributable MSI packages.  One is compatable with 1.1 framwork applications and the other is compatable with 2.0 framework applications.
    try downloading the SP3 MSIs from [here|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009656792008E/crxir2sp3_net_si.zip]
    this will have both MSIs
    - CrystalReports11_5_NET.msi          (for 1.1fwk applications)
    - CrystalReports11_5_net_2005.msi   (for 2.0fwk applications)
    rename the CrystalReports11_5_net_2005.msi to CrystalRedist115_x86.msi and replace the existing file in the Bootstrapper folder path
    Uninstall the last install, rebuild and try your Click-Once install again.  This time you should have the 11.5.3700.0 runtime.

  • My ipod touch is takeing forever to update to IOS 5.01

    i have an ipod touch and its a 4 gen and i have a new computer and it realy fast but my ipod update is takeing forever to update i have done everything i even changed some internet setting it still takes forever please help me. ,Thank you

    If your iPod does not have camera it is a 3G iPod. Those can only go to 5.1.1. Its hardware does not support a higher version.
    As other have said, a 4G (first one to have cameras) can only go to 6.1.6
    A 5G can go to the current 7.1.2
    To more easily find compatible apps:
    iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
    Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
    Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
    App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
    App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
    You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • Okay so I just got a new MacBook and I'm setting it up. I decided to not download all of my files to iCloud drive and its taking forever to load to the next page. Is this normal for it to take so long? After all I didn't even download my stuff?

    why is it taking forever to load!?

    The files you are loading into the new computer are by wi-fi? If you have no other option
    that may be OK but slow. A faster method would be Ethernet cable from internet router
    or modem, instead of wireless. Most of the setup process can take some time.
    What are these files? Where are they now?
    Do you have a backup on-site, & not online?
    Did you check to see if the operating system was updated as part of the setup before use?
    The Software Update can locate later parts to the as-shipped system, that may be needed.
    Other upgrades or new apps are through the Mac App Store, some through App Store, etc.
    As part of the setup, you could use a migration assistant if you have a backup from the old
    computer or have other files saved in an external hard drive to import.
    Hopefully your process won't be drawn out too long...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Restarting taking forever after Security Update 2014-002

    I just downloaded Security Update 2014-002 and my Mac Mini is taking forever to restart after the download and installation process finished. I'm running the latest version of Mavericks and my Mac is stuck on restart! What should I do?
    Need help! Thanks.

    Tap the space bar on your keyboard once. The dispaly may be sleeping.
    The first restart after the update here was longer than usual but I restarted one more time, it was back to normal boot time.
    After the restart, open the App Store then select Updates from the menu.
    It should say:  Verio 1.0 Installed Apr 22, 2014

  • ADODE MEDIA ENCODER CS5 TAKING FOREVER????

    Hello
    I have just noticed that AME is not encoding fast enough as it used to. I recently changed my set up to the following,
    C : Seagate Momentus XT 500GB (2.5" 7200rpm)
    D : Areca Raid Controller 1110 (3 x seagate momentus 7200rpm 2.5" Raid 0) Media Files
    E/F :TB32 Raid Controller ( 2 x Seagate 3.5" 7200RPM hdd Raid 0 Partitioned) Stock footage, Media Cache and Exports
    I converted my two bay workstation to  4 2.5" HDDs
    The sequence I am currently exporting is 23 minutes long and is  Matrox HDV 50i, with Matrox colour correction, Magic Bullet Looks and  Adobe Auto contrast. This export is taking forever and it has just  rendered a sixth of the sequence for 2 hours 27 minutes and indicates  that 11 hours 23 minutes remains to render. CPU is not maxed out never  had such awful long renders before with my previous setting which had  only two logic HDDs.
    This was my previous HDD set up
    C : Bios Raid 0 (Western Digital Caviar Green 3.5" 7200 x 2 partitioned into C & D)
    E/F :TB32 Raid Controller ( 2 x Seagate 3.5" 7200RPM hdd Raid 0 Partitioned) Stock footage, Media Cache and Exports
    So currently I am not sure whether I have gone for the  better or I have just worsened. I have just exported some clips with  after effects and the CPU was maxed out without any sluggish perfomance.

    32 GB RAM
    GTX 285 2GB GPU
    Matrox RT X2
    Areca 1110
    I have got lots of jobs coming up and perfomance has become of paramount importance. I am considering RMA of the 2.5" HDDs here, don't know what to do really? Check out this picture which shows the perfomance I am suffering here.

    Ann Bens wrote:
    You need to establish if this is AME or Matrox.
    Place your project in a non Matrox project and render again.
    Mind you Looks and auto contrast take a lot of rendering.
    Best is to ditch the auto contrast and use the Brightness and Contrast.
    Effects with auto tend to make a mess of you video.
    What preset did you use i find your settings somewhat odd.
    I copied all the footage in the matrox timeline and pasted it into HDV timeline. There was no change, the render speed is just the same. The first clip in this sequence is a quicktime mov file 1920 x 1080 (Opening sequence 30 sec long no effects), AME renders this one faster than real time and max out the CPU to over 95%, but when it hits the main content with the filters, the CPU usage drops tremendously. This happens on both matrox and HDV sequences, which leaves with no alternative but to think that the slowness render issue lies with the Red Giant plugins.

  • My 2009 24" iMac, taking forever to boot...help!

    I need help and some advice on my 24" (2009) iMac running OS 10.7, my computer is taking forever to boot up. I was downloading MS Word 2011 via wi fi and then it froze. I shut the computer down by pressing the power button and restarted the iMac up again, the chime came on and the Apple logo is up with the wheel turning, I thought it was booting up...Well an hour has passed and the the screen with the Apple logo and wheel is still turning! I shut down the computer again and power it up again while holding down the Option key. Two icons came up, one for he HD and the other Recovery HD...I click the Recovery and select Disk Utility. I then select the Mac HD and clicked Repair Disk. After it went through that process of repairing, I then selected Repair Disk Permission. After that was done, I selected Restart from the Apple icon on the upper left corner. Again the Apple chimed....the screen and Apple icon and wheel is still spinning...No good the same screen with Apple icon and wheel continued to spin and nothing else is happening. Hope someone can help me out. Thanks.

    As a test you could try booting with the install disk that came with the iMac (disk in drive and startup holding down the 'C' key). If it boots it's likely a good sign that it's an OS rather than hardware problem and that Eric Ross's suggestion of re-installing the OS is the next step.
    If you haven't got a back up (hope you have) you can re-install using the Recovery HD but it would mean re-downloading Lion (you don't have to pay again).
