Forget a WiFi Network without Connecting to It?

Is there a way to tell the iPhone to "Forget this Network" for a network you haven't connected to?
Or perhaps I should phrase the question differently: Is there a way to keep asking me if I want to join networks in general, but stop asking me about thus-and-so network in particular?

I would also find this useful... I asked about it some time back...

I would like to use my iPhone 6's wifi hotspot to provide Internet at home (I do not have home internet) via a Time Capsule which I currently use the TC simply as a home wifi network without Internet to enable things like printing wirelessly and backing up data wirelessly via time machine.
I have a Mac Pro, iPhone 6, iPad, Apple TV and Time Capsule. No home Internet.
Is is possible to have my iPhone 6's wifi hotspot used to provide Internet to my wifi network on time capsule? Has anyone else had success doing this? I'm not a tech head and really know very little about things like this. Thanks. Jen

You can have a go using a wireless bridge.. eg the airport express will do this.. you can join it to the iphone wireless running as a hotspot.. and then plugged into the TC wan port.. the TC has to be setup in router mode.. so this is going to give you double NAT errors.. and of course errors for all the time the hotspot is turned off.. but it can work. However you might find it requires you to manually connect up each time.. If you are really going to try and do this you will manage it.. but how fiddly it becomes might put you off after a week.
You will chew up your 5GB very fast using any streaming media even radio. So be very careful to track the usage.
Apple should have built in the TC the ability to plug in a wireless 3G modem.. via the USB but Apple have ceased to do adventurous stuff.
If you give up the TC as main router there are plenty of better products on the market that will handle multiple wan connections.. !!

I'm having similar issues with my phone.  I got my first iPhone recently, only had an iPod touch gen4 for a little over a year.  Updated to 6.0.2 when we got the phone (iPhone 5) a few days before Christmas.  When I got home on the evening of January 11, my phone would not connect the router anymore.  I was able to get it to connect after resetting the phone and the router, updating the router, and manually connecting.  That laste for a few minutes and then wouldn't work anymore.   I live in an area with very limited service, we have a network extender installed to help, and I am barely getting a 3G signal at times.
My wife's iPad 4, my touchiPod 4, and all of our laptops are working just fine on the router.  When I dropped my kid off at school today, I noticed that I am not even seeing the school network anymore from the parking lot where before I got 3 or 4 bars and could connect to their wifi when I was there.  Today my phone goes back and forth between seeing my home network but not connecting, to not even seeing the network at all even from the same room that the router is in.
Hope Apple fixes this problem soon..............

  • WIP310 to use in a wifi network without VoIP ?? It's possible??

I want to know if I can use the WIP310 to  communicate with each other in a WiFi network, without having PABX or  VoIP services similar assets.
The WIP310 will be used by a hotel  manager to call the waiters.
    Thanks for  any response.

    Hi Stefano,
Sadly, you will need some form of "call control-PABX" that is
    SIP capable

  • TS1398 After updating to iOS 7 my iphone 5 won't show any wifi networks or connect to any wifi even after resetting the network connections. HELP!

After updating my iphone 5 to iOS 7 my phone won't show any wifi networks or connect to any. I reset the network connections and still nothing.

I Just found it on the apple site, it arrived on a cd a few days later and worked just fine again.
i would recommend backing everything up just in case. Better safe than sorry, trust me. I've lost so much when i didnt back up once when re-installing the system.
IT shoulldnt erase everything, bt it might, so back up just in case
should you loose everything, then i have some tips on moving stuff fromyour iphone/ipod to the computer

  • TS1398 Ever since I upgraded to iOS 7, my iPhone is constantly forgetting my wifi network connection.

Lately, my iPhone has been getting dropped from my wifi network and more often than not, when I leave and come back to the office wifi, the phone will have trouble connecting, asking for the password again and again (which it should already know!).
But now it will not connect at all. The wifi is working fine on my mac and the signal strenght is fine. I have gone through all of the steps suggested by Apple support and it still will not connect to the wifi network.
    Any help?

  • I have an Ipad 4 and its been working fine up until the last week, and now it is very unreliable connecting to the internet and loading pages. It connects to the Wifi network without any problems, all my other devices have no problems at all. Any help?

I have reset netwrok settings, ip addresses are all fine, restarted my router, but I may be missing something. Anyone else having similar problems?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • How forget a wifi network on a MacBook Pro with Retina Display?

I entered the wrong password for a wifi network at my uncle's house and I can't figure out how to re-enter the password. Or how to forget the network so I am printed to re-enter the password.

The MacBook keeps a list of all wireless networks you connected. Go to System Preferences > Network > Advanced, and remove this wireless network from "Preferred networks". Then, try to connect again to this network. Anyway, your computer should ask you for the password if it wasn't typed properly

  • Why does my macbook pro forget the wifi network when i only set the iPhone to forget it?

i just dont get. what is the logic behind the mac synchronises network access between devices? i set my iPhone to forget a certain wifi network and now my macbook pro also forgot it, so i had to reset my router for this. pretty annoying. any workaround if i want iCloud to keep my passwords synchronised but not sure up the network access instantly on all devices?

I had to call Apple and the tech made me enter a bunch of terminal commands to fix this. Unfortunately I can't tell you excactly what it was. I think the best way would be to call Apple.

  • Connecting to wifi network - Measure connection time

    Hi
I'm connecting to WiFi network. How can I measure the connection time? I mean, I need to get the time the connection takes.
I tried to use the following events (Of WMI):
    MSNdis_StatusDot11AssociationStart
    MSNdis_StatusDot11AssociationCompletion
But the second event  didn't work. I mean, I get the info when the connection started but didn't get any info when the connection completed.
    Can you please help?

  • My wife has just had a new iPad and while Wifi works fine with it at home, at work it will not connect to the Wifi despite the correct password being entered. The 'waiting wheel' simply goes round and round next to the Wifi network attempting connection.

My wife has just had a new iPad and while the Wifi works fine at home, at work she is unable to connect after entering the correct password etc. The 'waiting wheel' simply spins next to the network attempting to connect. The iPad version is 5.1.1 and not the IOS 6 which seems to be problematic on the Wifi front. To add to the mystery my own iPad connects fine to my wife's place of work. Is it possible to take the manual settings from mine and connect that way? Or any other suggestions?

When your device is trying to connect to the work Wi-Fi network, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then tap on the name of the Netowrk that she is having trouble with. Then tap on forget this network. Let the device attempt to connect again and make absolutely sure she is trying to connect to the work network and not a nearby network, then make absolutely sure the password is entered correctly.
