  • Anti theft software for s60 v5?

Is there any good effective anti-theft solution for the nokia s60v5? I use the nokia 5233. The software should preferably be free. thanks.

There is also the F-secure Anti Theft software for free from Ovi Store. Mind you now that none of these will actually get you your phone back. But they will stop the thief from accessing your information.
You should also just consider just using the built in security features on your phone in Security Settings>Phone and Sim Card. Here you can set the phone to lock when the sim card is changed and you can also set thephone to lock when you send an sms to it.

  • Forgot to turn off anti-theft before doing a security wipe

Hi,I am new to this forum and in serious need of help.Last night, i wanted to do a factory reset on my phone.I did not do any back up, instead i imported all important media and documents using the blackberry link. I couldnt get my blackberry ID working so mistakenly "DELETED" the id instead of just asking for a resetBlack berry link has a button for factory reset, which i wanted to do, so i proceed with that and the reset start also. The problem is, I am now stuck on the process of reconfiguring my phone. It is asking for a blackberry username and password which i "deleted" earlier, So i had to resetup my blackberry id only to find out it is no long associated with my phone.whenever i try to use the id and password, it gives an error "The blackberry protect anti-theft feature is on. Please sign in with the blackberry ID used to set up this device"Please advice on how can i resolve this issue.

Unfortunately, you're not in a good situation.  Here is BlackBerry's official word on this issue:
If you purchased your device from ShopBlackBerry, Amazon (US/UK) or the Porsche Design Store, please contact BlackBerry using the details found on our Contact Us page.
    BlackBerry Contact Us > http://blck.by/1MxtqPR
If you purchased your device from a wireless service provider, or a retail store in person, or online, please contact them for assistance.
    When contacting your point of purchase, please have the following prepared;
DO NOT POST THIS INFORMATION IN THESE FORUMS
    -Your BlackBerry ID
-Proof of purchase such as a receipt
-A copy of your wireless bill that shows your phone #
-A copy of your Government issued ID
    Thanks,
So, you will need to contact your provider (assuming you purchased it from them) and have them escalate you to BlackBerry.

  • Security, anti-theft

    Hi,
Last week I bought a cellphone and it was lifted out of my car in less than 12 hours. I now have a brand new Bold. I hesitated in buying it since it is a valuable commodity, but I was told that the anti-theft features were quite good. Apparently the phone can be tracked via GPS if you activate it immediately. I have also heard about monitoring software that works in the background and can send out security details if the SIM card is ever changed.
I learned of PhoneBAK BB, which is an application available at Download.com and which has a high rating according to the site managers.
Has anyone heard of this? Are there other security options available that anyone has had any experience with?
Does anyone know of a website that explains how to secure a cellphone against theft?
I would be quite interested in hearing about it.
    Cheers,
    Mikey53

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
While there is no way to really secure a device "against theft", there are measures you can take to do the things you discuss -- but IMHO the device itself is a commodity. The data contained on it, however, is potentially priceless. Hence, there are two things that BB's have that I consider invaluable:
    1) Backups -- the desktop software lets you backup all of your critical data. Further, if you are synchronizing with a desktop PIM, your data is already backed up there.
KB12487 How to backup data on a BlackBerry smartphone
KB17022 How to configure synchronization settings for BlackBerry Desktop Manager
    2) Device Password -- once activated, this will be required to unlock the device. After 10 sequential failed attempts, the device will wipe itself clean of all of your personal data.
KB16307 Actions that the BlackBerry smartphone performs during a BlackBerry smartphone wipe processes
With those two measures, I consider anything else to be somewhat useless...replacing the device is simple (yes, it could cost $$$, but it is easy)...replacing the data is really hard. And protecting that data from others is IMO essential.
    Hope that helps!

  • Guidance to develop 2-way GSM (Mobile application) for car anti-theft Secur

I am software Developer (Java / J2EE). I am new to J2ME. I want to develop a car security system using 2-way GSM (mobile communication).
My Project Working / Requirement :
The alarm is applied with a mobile telephone SIM card (excluded), allowing the alarm to make and receive telephone calls whenever car is tempered with. This also allows you to track the location of the car via the telephone signal. Any SIM Card can be used. To use the system, just call the telephone number of the alarm, enter your pin number and a voice menu will guide you through the options. The pin-number system prevents unauthorized access to the alarm features. The manufacturing PIN number is pre-set and can be re-set by the owner. Calls can be made to the alarm by any telephone. Two alarming telephone numbers can be registered on the alarm. If the alarm is triggered, the alarm will automatically call the first telephone number within 13 seconds. This is in addition to the regular alarm (flashing lights, siren). If there is no reply, it will call the second number. The user can then reset the alarm, monitor the car, send a verbal warning to the burglars or stop the car by the telephone.
    Queries :
    1. I need suggestion on how do I go about it? 2 ways I can think of..
    a) Car anti-theft Device (an electronic device) which triggers the alarm whenever car is tempered with, will be readily available in market. Now I have to implement 2-way GSM alarming. So how do I integrate or implement above explained working in that electronic device so as to send / receive calls through alarm.
    b) Is there any way, where directly from scratch I develop alarming system using just mobile phones, where it will be programmed to work as explained above.
    2. I want to know is there any open source codes available which is similar to
this type of application. From which site I will get it?
    3. I am studying tutorial of J2ME and have started developing midlets (studying CLDC/MIDP). But I want to know what exactly I need to learn in J2ME? Which APIs I need to study to implement above project?
    4. Anybody has done any similar type of project? Please give me some idea.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dhara

Please explore some more, I dont get what u mean by alarm, alarm features, alarm to make and receive telephone calls, alarm is applied with a mobile telephone

  • Anti theft N8 - Forgotten trusted number and secur...

    Hi
I just unlocked my N8 as I am out of contract with my provider. When I put a new sim card in it to try it - I got the anti theft page and it is asking for a mobile security code.
I don't know what my trusted number is or the security code.
How can I get rid of the anti theft device as I need my phone for going away?
    Thanks

Unfortunately thats it because if it isn't 12345 then it means you could have changed it to anything. Only other option is to get it reset at your local Nokia Care Point. Remember to bring proof of purchase with you.

  • Anti theft mobile code forgotten

My nokia c7 is locked for last four days. No msg to my trusted cell no.i forgotten the mobile code which is being asked on display. Pl help.

You need to visit Nokia Care along with a proof of purchase (Bill / Invoice) to get the code reset.
Not sure if the code is related to any Application (anti theft) that you have installed. If so, a Hard Reset may do the trick but still you will need to get the Firmware flashed at Nokia Care because along with all your important data the hard reset will also remove some important system files especially related to the GPS - Maps application.

  • Remove anti theft security

Hello, I installed the Intel anti theft technology I my t420 and it crash, now I have this thing on my bios and I can't take it of.
    Can someone help me?

It is used to block access on one of a group of machines from a central site. If yours is blocked, either it should be blocked or you can talk to the system administrator to unblock it. It does not block access if the system crashes.

  • Anti-theft Apps

Hi there. I would like to know if there is any app out there on the appstore that takes pictures anonymously in case someone types a wrong password, and sends it to my email address with GPS positioning (anti-theft app). I found one a few weeks ago called "Dot Lock Secure", which promised 10 different password systems to use (amont them the famous dot lock used by android phones), and secret photo taking in case of an attemp to "break in". This was a godsend, specially considering that there is an app for that for Cydia users, called IGotYa, wich has already proven effective in case of stolen phones. I recently had my iphone stolen,  and it sucked, specially considering how ineffective Find my iPhone is on these situations, it is a simple matter of turning off the phone to avoid location, and formating it as soon as one reaches a computer.
Is there any good anti-theft app out there?
Also, where can I post suggestions to apple? Find my iPhone should be used not only for remote locking, wiping and messages, but also to prevent turning off the phone and secret photo taking. Apple has the tech, it makes no sense not to use it...Also, since every phone is has a single serial code, it should be possible to track it even after it has been formated...
    Well, hope someone can help.
    Thanks

You can leave feedback for Apple here: http://www.apple.com/support/feedback/
Also, I haven't heard of an app that you're describing.  I think they should have an option to set a code in order to turn the phone off as well as unlocking it.

  • Anti Theft protection

I forgot my blackberry ID and the security question. I wiped my phone and just realized that i have the anti theft protection on my phone. It will not allow me to create a new one. Am I screwed? Is there a way to create a new one on my device?

  • How and where to hide anti theft soft in order not...

In my n95,i have bought kaspersky antivirus which have anti theft function also. But installing soft in phone memory or memory card can be removed by thieves by hard reset or formatting before sim change if thieves are clever enough.Even folder lock or ADV also fails if hard reset is done.Isn't there any solution to hide this software or such setting that it cannot be removed by hard reset?

actually theres no need to get that far. I installed Kaspersky Mob security on both my E71 and N8 and i can easily uninstall them by the app manager!!!! No need for factory restart or firmware reinstallation. A novice can get rid of this "protection" software by just one click

  • Intel Anti Theft Service with my new T520

    Folks,
I  when I went to the Intel site to sign up for the AT service it said I should have got a yellow card
in the box with the laptop with the activation code.
I checked, I did not get that card, does anyone know how to get the code ?
    Thanks
    -Fred
    Solved!

The post above by JDay is no longer true. Intel has been distributing activation codes to some of their reseller partners. See my post below on how to acquire the activation codes.

  • Intel Anti-Theft Technology: Low cost enterprise options

Working in education, I'm looking for a low cost option for implementing anti-theft tech. All we need is a way to disable stolen computers, in order to deter thieves in the future. We don't expect to recover stolen equipment, so tracking is not needed. Computrace is too expensive. SecureDisable seems like a good option without unnecessary features, but still seems like a lot for a simple service.
Anybody have any experience in this area?
Are pay services absolutely required for this tech? What about writing a custom management plug-in?

    Hello,
    Two thoughts:
Check with your existing vendor(s) of security software to see if they offer an anti-theft module or product as an add-on to your existing license.
The open source Prey Project is another solution to investigate.

  • How to uninstall McAfee Anti-theft?

I have recently bought my notebook and would like to competely uninstall McAfee Anti-Theft before even registering this programme. I don't have sensitive data on my notebook and don't need this software.
I have read that it is difficult to completely uninstall this programme.
Is this true or can I just choose the uninstall procedure in the system settings tab?

    Ive tested it for you.
Uninstall McAfee Internet security at first and then after notebook restart uninstall McAfee Anti-Theft.
Do it using uninstall option in Control Panel > Programs and Features.
I dont see any problem with removing it.
At the end go to McAffe Security Advisor symbol at the desktop, click with right mouse button on it and choose option uninstall.
    Thats it.

  • New E7 anti theft

I bought an unlocked E7 yesterday afternoon from a retail store. I charged it and then inserted my daughter's virgin sim card. Immediately the phone asked for an anti theft code. We have tried the 12345 code and every other set of numbers on the phone box, on the label from the store, the virgin puk code, my daughter's unlock code from her other phone just in case it was attached to her sim card, and nothing works.
I rang the store i bought the phone from and their advice was that it had happened to them before with another Nokia model and I should bring the phone back for a refund. Unfortunately I live an hour from the town I bought the phone in and they don't have another E7 to replace it with. It was the last one and they are not restocking.
Does anyone have any ideas at all.

You could try hard resetting the phone. Press and hold volume down + camera + menu then turn on phone using power button. Only release power button after first vibration and the other three after Nokia "Shaking hands" logo appears.
Normally I would be telling you all data on the phone will be wiped with the hard reset but should not be a problem in this case since phone is new.
