Forgot iPod passcode, not backed up

My son forgot his iPod 5th generation passcode, and since he only got it at Christmas, we had not got round to backing it up to our computer or iCloud yet. Is there any way to unlock the device, even if it means deleting everything off it, as the iPod has not been backed up before or synced to a computer. Please help us!

Follow these instructions and place the iPad in recovery mode and restore via iTune

  • Please help, my iPod could not backing up on iTunes.

Please help, my iPod could not backing up on iTunes. It always says, "iTunes could not back up the iPod because the backup was corrupt  or not compatible with the iPod.  Delete the backup for this iPod, then try again." What's wrong with my iTunes??

look at the brightside at least your computer sees yours

  • Some items on my ipod are not backed up - why?

I want to reset my ipod touch because when I listen to music, the music tends to cease at random...the display shows that the tune is playing, but no sound comes out.  Also, some of the tunes seem to have their names incorrectly matched to the music, despite being OK when I check them in Itunes.  But when I try to reset the ipod, it says some items on the ipod are not backed up and will be lost.  But it gives me no way to find out what items are not backed up, nor how to make them become backed up.  So my backup is jacked up!  How do i fix this so I can at least try a reset in hopes that it might fix the problem of the music randomly stopping?

This is going to sound dumb, but humor me, when was the last time you backed up your iPod? Before you try backing up try this: a Soft Reset, press and hold the power and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears, about 15 seconds +/-, then release both buttons, should not cause you to lose anything. Or going into Setting>General>Reset and tapping Reset All Settings, should not effect photos in camera roll or music, may cause you lose some contacts or email content. If you are thinking of doing a Restore make sure you backup anything you do not wish to wipe to your computer before starting a Restore from backup or a Restore to new (factory restore). To make the back up connect with the cable to iTunes then go into your iPod page and go from there. Before you start resetting / Restoring have you tried unsyncing the music library from your iPod then sync again. Or deleting the music and then sync with your computer's music library? (Note any music that is not on your computer may be lost to you if you don't sync it to the computer first.) May work, may not. Hope this helps, Good luck, Cheers.

  • While performing a system update, I shut down my iPod touch. Can the pictures on my iPod be recovered if my iPod was not backed up?

While performing a system update, I shut down my iPod touch. Can the pictures on my iPod be recovered if my iPod was not backed up?
iPod is fourth generation, the system update was a little over half complete.
I want to get the pictures off the iPod so that I can keep them. Is there any way to do this?

    Maybe,
    - if when you connect the iPod to your computer you can make a backup? If yes yo can restore from that backup

    - Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backup dated when you started the update. the first stiep of an update is iTunes making a backup.

  • Forgot Ipod passcode

I forgot my ipod passcode and now it says ipod disabled connect to itunes. I dont have an itunes on a computer though i only bought stuff from the itunes on my ipod so i cant connect to an itunes. I tried restoring to factory settings but that didnt work. What do i do?

You will need a computer on which to download iTunes if you do not already have it: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you forgot its password the iPod has to be restored. Make sure you are following the instructions in this procedure to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
If all you had on the iPod was content purchased from the App Store, you can simply download everything again. You won't have to pay for anything you already bought.

  • I need to find my serial number from Itunes.  Ipod was not backed up.  It is now lost.  Is the number in Itunes someplace?

Does ITunes save IPod serial numbers

    Hi ..
The serial number should be on the back of the iPod.

  • IPod Touch not backing up

I updated to iOS 5 after it came out,had issues, etc. Well, I don't get to plug my iPod into the computer often. When I've tried to sync it because I have a chance or have added music, occasionally, backing up takes forever and if I try to go to the iPod status page, it freezes up. Well, its been its been doing this today. I got some tracks and I wanted to add them but backing up is exremely slow and I can't go to the status page without it freezing up. Why is this happening? Extremely annoying when i just want to backup my stuff and add some new music!

Never mind, figured it out. Incase anyone was wondering, I took all the apps I didnt need to be backed-up off my iPod (via iTunes), Then tried backing it up and it worked.

  • Music on ipod is not in library can I still add songs?

So all of the music that is currently on my ipod was not backed up from my old itunes library and I definitely don't want to lose the entire collection I have on my ipod.
If I were to buy songs from itunes is there a way to add those songs without losing all of the the content I have on my ipod?

You can't sync your music back from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod. This is just a selection, have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

Did you place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

You can't. If your phone is disabled, the data has already been erased...that's the whole point of the passcode. Your only option now is:
Turn your phone off, then force it into recovery mode & restore it:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
