Forgot my MacBook Pro disc, how to install the OS X again?

Hi everyone,
i've bought recently the new macBook pro i7 and gave my old one to my brother. the old one is the 13" Core 2 Duo. the thing is my brother asked me to format and reinstall the OS X again for him. I didn't have the original CDs that came with the laptop (i left it at home in US) so i used my new i7 one to format it. after the format is done i got a message saing the "the system can't be installed on this computer". I tried everything, I've installed a copies of the system. i even tried to make a backup from another computer but it didn't work.
now i don't know what to do !! please advise. Thx to u all in advance.

Well he can pick up an iLife DVD for $49.00 if he needs something on it, but at least he has a working copy of OSX that will run, and do what he wants. He can then decide what programs he needs to buy afterwards.
I'm guessing the OP's brother wants to get his hands on this Mac ASAP. And would be happy to fork out $29 for a copy of 10.6 to get going straight away.
He's going to have to pay Apple for another copy anyway.
But you're right. It's up to the OP's brother. Neither of us can make that decision for him. Only he can. But I'm sure he will appreciate all the options.

When I click on the icon to open it gives me an air message sending me to download a legacy format of Java generation SE and when I do you download and install it, even after refreshing the. MacBook several times I still don't get any positive results as far as having the software open. Does somebody know why and what I can do so that I can run my existing programs from Adobe with my new Apple Yosemite operating system. I am drowning here

The easiest way is to go to the Apple site and find the Java for OSX 2014-001 and install it. There have been some reports of blank pages returned so you may need to try several browsers.

this could be due to a problem on your disk. You can try this to see if it makes a difference: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode.

A utility like GrandPerspective is a good one for seeing what is taking up space on your hard drive.
Video and photo files tend to take up a lot of room.

I have eactly the same problem - it seems that the downloaded version on MBA is version 6.0 and on iPad is is version 2.0 -
Issue is when i tried to save the presentation on MBA Keynote 09 - Keynote crashed.
I tried to save is as Powerpoint in MBA and it crashed as well!

Are yoy sure that Apeture is not in the Applications folder of the new system? If it is move it to the trash and the App Store will let you download Aperture from it.
You will need to make sure you use the same Apple ID you used to purchase it in the past.

Also, I had to install the software twice on my same computer before because I had to reboot the computer. I don't know if this affects the limit.

You are allowed to have two activated installations so there should not be a problem having working installations on the two machines. If by chance you have somehow tied up two activations for the one machine you can have Adobe support help resolve that thru chat.

If your MacBook Pro had Snow Leopard on it at one time then sure. (Early 2011 or earlier)
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
Obviously choose the second partition to install into. It has to be OS X Extended journaled formatted in Disk Utility (BootCamp software makes it a MSDOS/FAT32 formatted partition if you used that to partition with)
If it's a Early 2011 or Late 2011 that came with 10.7, it's possible, but it's not easy.

I tried several times to install Photoshop Elements 11 on my new Macbook Pro (10.8.3) but the installer failed to initialize and the Support Advisor inspection could not identify any issue. I went today to the Apple Store to get help and the Genius guy couldn't resolve the problem either. He told me to contact Adobe Support and he gave me an Adobe token number.
Does anyone knows how can I resolve this problem? Any help would be truly appreciate it!!!

I'd contact their support to find out if there is a Mac driver available, and if they can either give you a web link to get it, e-mail you the software, or snail-mail you a standard-size disk with the drivers.

Yes you can install it on your new Macintosh. If it does not have an optical drive then you can copy the contents of the installation media to a USB drive and then install the software from there.

You can install Adobe Programs ONLY from the originals installer which is provided from Adobe. Time Machine (which is a form of migration) will not result in working Adobe programs. As Bob said, use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, which is also working for CS versions, to wipe out everything from Adobe and start with a clean installing.
I am not sure, if CS4 is running on Maverick, at least it is not supported officially, your are here alone. It might be so that you have to upgrade your software to a later version.
