Welcome Jim.
Do you receive a code after 3 failed passwords???
I have seen these at the warehouse before.
If you do not receive a code then I will experiment on one tomorrow.
Let me know.

Yes, I think most of us do understand what open source software is. It sounds as if you don't. Here's some information:
Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form: the source code and certain other rights normally reserved forcopyright holders are provided under an open-source license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software.
Open source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-sourcedevelopment and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open content movements.

Yes, Tom Wu of Stanford wrote a paper on something called Secure Remote Access Protocol. It's a form of Asymetric Key Exchange and has nothing to do with hacking anything. It's actually intended to protect data.

  • Dont know my icloud password and cant reset my iphone. Help!

I got a new iphone 6 today and took it back home to sync it with my laptop. Unfortunately it synced with an old email account that I dont use anymore and also when my iphone had a restrictions passcode on it. I know how to reset the iphone using itunes but I can't do that becuase I dont know the icloud password. I need the icloud password because I cant reset the iphone until find my iphone is off. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

You will need to do the following:
    1.     Go to Manage your Apple ID and change your current Apple ID back to the old email address (this is temporary - do NOT verify it, do NOT change the password): Apple - My Apple ID
    2.     Sign into your iCloud account on your new device using the current password, and turn off Find My iPhone. Check to make sure that iCloud is not also signed on under the old ID on the device. If it is, sign it off: Settings>iCloud. Also check Settings>Messages, Settings>FaceTime, and Settings>iTunes & App Store, and if any of those are signed on with your old Apple ID, sign them off.
    3.     Go back to Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the current email address. You will probably have to verify it.
    4.     Sign onto the apps listed above with your current Apple/iTunes/iCloud ID.

  • I dont know the administrator password on my GPS notebook

I dont know my administrator password

    Hi sloann76,
    Welcome to the HP forum!
Thank you for your inquiry, I will try my best to help you resolve this.
I  grasp that  you have forgotten your administrator password, and are no longer able to access your computer.
If you have another account with Administrator rights, you can log into it and change the password on your account.
I located this on the Microsoft forum that  may resolve your issue.  I tried it on a Windows 7 computer and once booted into safe mode, the password screen came up and it did not accept the password  you should see an option to reset password.  Here is a link to the answer from the Microsoft forum Forgot my Administrator Password to Windows XP.
Here is another answer from the Intel community, How to Reset Administrator Password on Locked Windows 8 Computer?
If this has nor resolved it , you will need to perform a recovery to factory   Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8).   If you do the factory restore you will loose any data not backed up. During the recovery proecess, you will see an option to backup your personal files. Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 8)
Please let me know the outcome.

  • Toshiba NB - I don't know the BIOS password anymore

    Hi all,
I've accidentally set a password when you switch on my notebook and I can't remember what it was. I've searched on the internet to see if I can removed this but there is nothing.
If I can see the security screen on the BIOS I'll be able to remember what the password is as its something on that secruty screen.
    Can anyone help at all?

    A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
    B. By Using Software:
I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

  • Dont know the admin password, cant get into single user mode

I have recently bought a PowerMac G4 with a dual core 1.25GhZ processor on a car boot. I do not know the admin password, and i cant get in to single user mode. What to do?! Seems like it has Open Firmware Password Protection, what ever that is, and i have the discs and tried disabling it, but to do that you need the admin password. It's and endless loop! Help me please, i have no idea what to do now...

    Disabling the Open Firmware Password
Open Firmware password protection can be bypassed if the user changes the physical memory configuration of the machine and then resets the PRAM three times (by holding down Command, Option, P, and R keys during system startup).
An Open Firmware password will provide some protection, however, it can be reset if a user has physical access to the machine and can change the physical memory configuration of the machine.

  • Some else icloud account is in my phone i dont know there password how can i rest the iphone if i dont know their icloud password?

I have the iphone 4s my operating system ios 8.0.2. My iphone has someone else icloud account on it. I dont have any idea how this could have happen. I read online i could rest all the contents and settings of my iphone. But it wouldnt let me rest my iphone without the icloud account password and i cant turn off "Find My Iphone" without the icloud password. So how can I reset my iphone without the password???

Well, unfortunately, you have run into the Activation Lock. Whomever sold you the phone either sold you a stolen phone, or they failed to sign out of iCloud and to turn off Find My iPhone before selling you the device. Your only recourse at this point is to contact the seller to see if they will remove the iCloud/Find My iPhone sign in:
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
If they refuse to help, or you cannot contact them, I'm afraid you have a brick. There is no other way around the Activation Lock other than what is posted in the link above. For future reference, if you are purchasing a used iDevice, make sure the Activation Lock is not enabled on the device:
How do I check for Activation Lock before purchasing a used device?
When purchasing an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from someone other than Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, it is up to you to ensure that the device has been erased and is no longer linked to the previous owner’s account.
You can check the current Activation Lock status of a device by visiting icloud.com/activationlock from any Mac or PC.
Or you can follow the steps below to make sure that you can use the device you purchase:
Turn the device on and slide to unlock.
If the passcode lock screen or the Home screen appears, the device hasn't been erased. Ask the seller to completely erase the device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Don't take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it's been erased.
    Begin the device setup process.
After choosing a language, choosing a country, and connecting to a network, the device will begin activation. If you're asked for the previous owner’s Apple ID and password, the device is still linked to their account. Hand the device back to the seller and ask them to enter their password. If the previous owner isn't present, they can remove the device from their account by signing in to icloud.com/find. Don't take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been removed from the previous owner’s account.
You will know that a device is ready for you to use when you're asked to “Set up your iPhone," “Set up your iPad," or “Set up your iPod” during the device setup process.

  • I dont know the admin password and i dont have a disc how do i bypass this

i need to access admin privlages but i dont have the password and i didnt recive the disc it came with how do i bypass this so i can become a admin?

It is best to get a disk. Ring an Apple store and they may be able to provide a replacement for your original disk.
The other benefit of owning a disk is it can be used to repair your hard drive.
Without a disk it is like driving a car without a spare. Most of the time you don't need it except for the time when you do, and then you are stranded.
