Forgot password to virtual XP admin acct

Hello,
I accidentally forgot the password to my virtual XP account. Luckily I am using saved credentials so I can still log in as the administartor, but I can't change my password or create a recovery disk.
I think I could mount the VHD of the virt. XP and make a new one and copy all files but system ones using Win 7, but I would like to just remove the password.
Thanks and if I need to explain more, just ask.

I actually solved the problem myself. Let me post my solution for others:
Using the Admin (original) account, make another admin user (new) with no password.
Go to the virtual machines folder (C:\Users\Username\Virtual Machines)
Hit Make new virtual machine and select the VHD of the original virtual XP (Located in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtual Machines)
Start this new virtual machine
Login to XP with your new account that has no password
Go to user accounts (in XP) and find the original account and delete the password
Close the virtual machine and then open the original virtual XP virtual machine
Login with the original account but with NO password
You should be able to login but it will give a message about not being able to enable integration features
Go to user accounts (in XP) and give the original account a password that you can remember to enable integration.
Delete the temporary (new account) if you want
Write down the new password!
Hope this isn't too confusing with all of the new/old stuff

    I am the administrator of my MacBook Pro, which I share with my kids. One of them forgot his password, so as the admin I changed it for his account, but  when I try to see his account, it says I need to provide the keychain password. How can i get it? I have no idea how to sort this out...

    First, make sure caps lock is not on.
    You must back up all data before continuing, unless you've already done so. If you need to back up but can't log in, ask for instructions.
    If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
    Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar. In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
    Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
    Press return. A Reset Password window opens.
    Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
    You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
    *Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead the instructions on this page:
    If you forget the password and FileVault is on

    Hi,
    Since all administrator account was disabled in your system, there is no way to run a program that need admin rights.
    You do need to enable administrator account in Computer Management.

  • Forgot Password for HP T2500, how can I reset it?

    I'm triing to setup our plotter scan to ftp but I don't recall the user name / passoword.
    I did try the defult settings
    User Name: admin
    Password:  (left empty)
    which didnt work so I may have created a password but I don't recall what it was.
    Is there a reset or forgot password option?
    Thank You.
    Andrew.

    Hi @skier66 ,
    I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).
    If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

  • How to create forgot password feature

    How can I create a "Forgot Password" link on the apex login screen that asks for users email address or userID and resets their password to a random one and emails it to them..

    I think we took the wrong path, that wont work out. I was looking at the APIs and found that we can change the user at run time.
    I think this should work..
    1. create login page as public
    2. In case password reset, grab the user name and change the current user as any admin user using the API Procedure SET_USER( p_user IN VARCHAR2)
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31036_01/doc/appdev.22/b28550/api.htm#BABIBIBH
    3. Now that you have the admin user , you know the current user's ID and you know the API to change the password for a particular user
    APEX_UTIL.RESET_PW(
    p_user IN VARCHAR2,
    p_msg IN VARCHAR2);
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/apirefs.32/e13369/apex_util.htm#insertedID69
    I think these if you work around these steps you could build change password fuctionality.
    Thanks,

  • Renamed Admin acct

    I renamed my admin acct Thursday night and when I started up again all I see is the sparseimage information. My Safari and iMail don't open either so I'd placed the Xcode Tools CD in the drive that night meaning to do a repair from it but I forgot to do it and shutdown. When I started the computer it was still in there.. I don't know if that had something to do with the problems either. I removed the CD w/o doing anything with it.
    The sparseimage was created by Apple when I sent my ibook in to them to correct a recall problem in like 2005/2006. I was told to leave that information where it was and to use the computer as usual. Well, I have been for the last 4 years or so and now I do not see any of that information (docs, photos, music, etc) nor settings since I logged in yesterday evening.
    I tried changing my name back and rebooting but the sparseimage info is all I'm seeing. I even took the file vault off, but nothing has changed. I didn't have a secondary acct set up...I do now. I don't have a backup either.
    I was surprised to learn online that changing the home folder/admin acct could wipe out my info without even so much as a patch or warning box from Apple!! I'm beyond upset right now, but I just need to know if anything is retrievable.
    Please help!

  • Admin acct. with parental controls.  Help!

    Yesteday I started a new user acct for my kids with some restrictions. Now when I am logged in as the Admin (my only other acct right now) some of the restrictions are applying to MY acct as well - most importantly I cannot access system preferences so I cannot change the accounts. It is restricting me from the programs I specified for the other acct but it is not restricting the sites I can access in Safari. I didn't know it was so easy to change an admin acct by accident!
    Does anyone have any ideas? Do I need to start with the install disc? Thanks so much.

    ..."I tried the ssh:// and safari would not recognize the address."...
    Ok, that means the "Allow supporting programs" control hasn't been selected, which is unfortunate for situations like this, but good for locking down the account.
    The thing that is strange is that it really should not be possible for this situation to arise from the GUI - normally it won't let "Parental Controls" to be configured on an "admin" account, a managed account can't be promoted to "admin", and given that there are only two user accounts on the computer (one "admin", one "managed"), it shouldn't be possible to demote the "admin" in order to apply limitations to it.
    Without getting a better idea of what has happened, it's hard to be specific about what commands to use to resolve the issue, although restoring the "NetInfo" database to default settings probably would clear things up. With just two users, this might not be a bad idea, but before proceeding further, it would be important to confirm that the computer has not been configured with a lot of custom groups, sharepoints, automounts, etc...
    ..."Is it possible to reboot from the install disc and do something that would help (without actually reinstalling)?"...
    Another approach might be to enable the "root" user using the install disk, eg. by following the instructions in the document linked below - except assign a password to the "System Administrator" account. After rebooting, log in with username "root" and the new password.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh655.html
    The "root" account is "all powerful" - the usual safeguards in place to protect the system from eg. mistakes by the user or security holes in software, don't apply to "root" so only log in to do what needs to be done, then log out immediately - for example, to respond to this post, log back in to your regular account - don't launch Safari while logged in as "root".
    Hopefully, it will be possible to access "System Preferences" while logged in as "root", allowing you to either reconfigure the existing users (remove parental controls, make sure the main user is still "admin"), or create a new account (allowing it to administer the computer) for further troubleshooting...
    If things work out, disable the "root" account right away (instruction, more or less, are in this document - just choose "Disable Root User" instead of "Enable Root User").

  • How do I create a "forgot password" and "forgot username" Form?

    Good Day,
    I am in need of assistance in learning how to create a "forgot password" and "forgot username" form in DW CS4.  I have researched Adobe and the Internet and I am coming somewhat empty on tutorials or step-by-step instructions.
    I would appreciate any step-by-step instructions, a link to a good online tutorial, or any other related source that can help me get from beginning to end.
    Thank you.

    Hope this work for you...
    What kind of web programming do you use for? If you use PHP MySQL, you can do it easily.
    For example I use a MySQL Table called "admin":
    CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `admin` (
      `id` int(10) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
      `name` varchar(64) NOT NULL,
      `email` varchar(64) NOT NULL,
      `username` varchar(64) NOT NULL,
      `password` varchar(64) NOT NULL,
      `activation` varchar(64) NOT NULL,
      `level` int(2) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
      `date_registered` timestamp NOT NULL DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP ON UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,
      PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
    ) ENGINE=MyISAM  DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=2 ;
    INSERT INTO `admin` (`id`, `name`, `email`, `username`, `password`, `activation`, `level`, `date_registered`) VALUES
    (1, 'Andoyo', '[email protected]', 'andoyo', 'andoyo', '8e67d638c0d130a4d66b2888ffc8335b', 0, '2011-09-21 10:32:16');
    Make two files, they are:
    forgot_password.php, contain form and php mail function
    error.php, a redirect page if the mail function doesn't work.
    And then, use your Dreamweaver to make a recordset, called: rsForgotPassword
    Click Insert > Data Objects > Recordset
    Name: rsForgotPassword
    Connection: adobe_cookbooks
    Table: admin
    Columns: All
    Filter: email, Form variable, =, email. Use form variable to pass the value from the form.
    Click OK
    Use if function to make the forgot function work perfectly, for example:
    If the email is entered correctly, the mail script will run
    If the email doesn't exist in the database, the notification will come out
    If they open the page directly, they have to type any keyword
    Final example:
    forgot_password.php
    <?php require_once('Connections/adobe_cookbooks.php'); ?>
    <?php
    if (!function_exists("GetSQLValueString")) {
    function GetSQLValueString($theValue, $theType, $theDefinedValue = "", $theNotDefinedValue = "")
      if (PHP_VERSION < 6) {
        $theValue = get_magic_quotes_gpc() ? stripslashes($theValue) : $theValue;
      $theValue = function_exists("mysql_real_escape_string") ? mysql_real_escape_string($theValue) : mysql_escape_string($theValue);
      switch ($theType) {
        case "text":
          $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? "'" . $theValue . "'" : "NULL";
          break;
        case "long":
        case "int":
          $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? intval($theValue) : "NULL";
          break;
        case "double":
          $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? doubleval($theValue) : "NULL";
          break;
        case "date":
          $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? "'" . $theValue . "'" : "NULL";
          break;
        case "defined":
          $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? $theDefinedValue : $theNotDefinedValue;
          break;
      return $theValue;
    $colname_rsForgotPassword = "-1";
    if (isset($_POST['email'])) {
      $colname_rsForgotPassword = $_POST['email'];
    mysql_select_db($database_adobe_cookbooks, $adobe_cookbooks);

  • Forgot password  link

    How to personalize Confirmation page of Forgot Password link functionality?
    Click Forgot your password?
    was able to personalized this one but want to personalize the NEXT one after this.
    Enter username and click submit
    How do we personalize the following message on the page below:
    “An email has been sent to the email address on file. Contact the system administrator if you do not receive your password within the next few hours. “

    Hi,
    You have to find out that file path,
    The first page is
    /oracle/apps/fnd/umx/password/webui/ForgotPasswordPG
    You can use functional administrator responsibility and user personalizatin tab to personalize this page.
    The controller for the above page is oracle.apps.fnd.umx.password.webui.ForgotPasswordCO.
    Since we dont have about this page and personalize option in that page, you have to open the ForgotPasswordCO and check where the control is redirecting .
    Then use functional admin and personalize.
    If somebody knows the result page path, please update here.
    With Regards,
    Kali.

  • Forgot Password destination

    Hello,
    This seems like it would be a simple fix.
    Depending on how you configure the system config object for the end user interface, you may include the forgot userid/password buttons. (user/login.jsp)
    We have our own internal id lookup application so I wish to modify the value of the forgot userid button and have the button open our look up app in a new window.
    ex) <a target="_blank" href="appURL">Forget your student id?</a>
    I understand that the login portion of this page is rendered via <%= form.generateHTML() %> and I have been led to believe that it is the com.waveset.ui.web.common.LoginForm class that I will need to modify.
    If this is the case then where can I find the java source for the idmclient.jar(com.waveset.ui.web.common.LoginForm)?
    If there is another way to make this modification please let me know.
    The reason we can not use the built in functionality is that students use the same credentials to access their email as they do IDM.
    So if they can not remember their student id then they probably won't be able to log on to their email to view the message sent by IDM.
    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hello sec_tk ,
    I had come up with the same solution however, the problem is that the "Forgot your Student ID?" link is then not in the desired place.
    It would be nice to be able to position the link to the "Forgot Password?" module underneath the Password input element and the "Forgot your Student ID?" under the Id input element.
    Or even just to place the "Forgot your Student ID?" link next to the IDM "forgot ID" element.
    Have you been successful in manipulating the HTML generated by <%= form.generateHTML() %>, via css?
    My other thought was to use the generated HTML (obtained thorught the 'view page source' on most browsers) and create a static login that I could freely manipulate.
    any thoughts?
    ClearSky the code below was manipulated to include the side icon, just like in the admin - login.jsp
    <html>
    <head>
    <%@ include file="userHeader.jsp" %>
    <div id="loginFormDiv">
    <div id="loginFormTxtDiv">
    <%= form.generateHTML() %>
    <a target="_blank" href="appURL">Forget your student id?</a>
    </div>
    </div>
    <%@ include file="userFooter.jsp" %>

  • Setup assistant asking for my details on Admin acct

    I have created an admin login after reading through the forums some time ago. I just logged in back to my admin acct and observed 'Setup Assistant' prompting me to enter and update my details. Is it becoz I upgraded to SL? I didn't know if I should enter the details again.... please help....

    I have exactly the same problem.
    First trial to add a family member seemed to work until i unchecked the "locate me" options for my wife's account i was trying to add.
    Then my iMac prompted asking me for the appleID/iCloudID password (which are the same). Since, it asks it again and again.
    It must be a bug in Yosemite code and i hope it would be fixed soon.
    Unless anyone has a proposal to solve it ?

  • Blackberry ID - forgot password, forgot password recovery info, exceeded login attempts, why can't BB send me email to reset password.

    THE ISSUES ARE:
    1. FORGOT PASSWORD
    2. FORGOT PASSWORD RECOVERY INFO
    3. EXCEEDED ATTEMPTS TO LOGIN
    I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLES FORUM PROBLEMS THAT ARE THE SAME. WHEN I FOLLOWED LINKS THAT SUPPORT GAVE THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM.
    What I need is simply this: Blackberry to send me a RESET PASSWORD link to the email I have registered with Blackberry WITHOUT HAVING TO PROVIDE PASSWORD RECOVERY INFO. This will enable me to bypass unknown recovery password info and access my Blackberry ID account.
    Why haven't I been able to find a solution to fix the problem?
    BECAUSE IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO EXIST........ ANYWHERE..... EVEN ON YOUTUBE BLACKBERRY ARE RUNNING AN OUT OF DATE SOLUTION CENTRE.
    When looked online to Blackberry youtube video it shows a solution that doesn't exist! WHY? BECAUSE IT WAS UPLOADED IN 2011. DUH. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvdRb4qNG1M
    If I can't remember my password or recovery password info there is NO other option available that will send me a reset password via email so I can keep my current BB ID.
    KB34776 - does not apply because you HAVE TO BE ABLE TO REMEMBER YOUR RECOVERY PASSWORD!
    CHECKED THIS OUT...
    Workaround
    If the BlackBerry ID password has been forgotten but the answer to the password recovery question is known, select Forgot Password on the smartphone and answer the recovery question to generate a password reset email. Follow KB28685 to complete this process.
    If the BlackBerry smartphone user knows the email address used for the BlackBerry ID login but is unable to remember the associated password then it is possible to reset the password using the steps below:
    Note: If the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed, it is necessary to provide the answer to the password recovery question as part of the web based password reset flow.
    To see if a BlackBerry ID account is confirmed, log in to the BlackBerry ID account, select Account Details and locate the Email Status field.  For instructions on confirming the BlackBerry ID account follow KB34137.
    Browse to the following URL using a desktop browser, the BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone, or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook: http://blackberryid.blackberry.com/bbid/recoverpassword
    Enter the BlackBerry ID Username (email address) and the CAPTCHA characters, then clickSubmit.
    Enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, then click OK.
    Note: Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed.
    A confirmation message will be displayed A password reset email has been sent to [email protected], at which point, a reset email will be delivered to the associated email address inbox.
    Log in to the email account associated to the BlackBerry ID using the desktop browser, BlackBerry Browser on the smartphone, or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
    Locate the password reset email and select the Change your BlackBerry ID password link.
    Note: The BlackBerry ID reset email will come from [email protected]. If the email is not found in the inbox, check the mailbox's Spam or Junk folder.
    When the password reset page loads, enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, enter the New Password, Confirm Password, then click Submit.
    A confirmation message will display once the changes have been saved successfully.
    Moving forward use the newly created password whenever logging into BlackBerry ID.
     If the BlackBerry smartphone user does not know the email or password that was used for the BlackBerry ID, the BlackBerry ID will be locked out after 10 unsuccessful login attempts. See KB24157 for BlackBerry ID lockout behavior.
    THEN CHECKED KB24157......
    Overview
    BlackBerry ID is the master key to BlackBerry smartphone products, sites, services and applications, including BlackBerry Protect and the BlackBerry App World storefront.
    To prevent unauthorized access to the account, the BlackBerry ID will become locked out after a number of failed attempts. See the information below for an outline on the expected behavior:
    Local Authentication Lockout
    On BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry smartphones if the user enters their BBID password incorrectly 10 times on the BBID sign in screen, verify password screen, or BBID Edit screens, they are LOCKED OUT of all the following functions on that BlackBerry device for 15 minutes:
    Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the sign in screen
    Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the verify password screen
    Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the BBID edit screens
    Note: The user can still log in on the web or any other devices associated with their BlackBerry ID. They are only locked out on the device where the 10 incorrect attempts occurred.  On the locked out device, after 15 minutes, they get 1 try to provide the correct password on the sign in and/or verify password screens. If they fail to enter the correct password, they are locked out for an additional 15 minutes on that device.
    Account Server Lockout
    Users have total of 10 attempts to enter their password correctly against the BlackBerry ID Account Server.
    The scenarios that increment the Account Server lockout counter are as follows:
    Providing an incorrect password anywhere on the BlackBerry ID web portal (blackberry.com/blackberryid)
    Providing an incorrect password within the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on any BlackBerry device or BlackBerry PlayBook
    Note: if a user provides an incorrect password 5 times on the BlackBerry ID web portal (blackberry.com/blackberryid), and then 5 more times on the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on their BlackBerry PlayBook, the cumulative number of failed attempts is 10. Once the user has made 10 incorrect attempts to provide their password against the Account Server, they are locked out of the Account Server PERMANENTLY until they reset their password.
    See KB26361 for information to reset a BlackBerry ID password
    Note: The Account Server Lockout does NOT prevent the user from local authenticating on devices  (the user can still authenticate on the sign in and verify password screens on their BlackBerry devices).
    Forgot Password Lockout
    If the user answers their Security Question incorrectly 10 times, they are locked out for 15 minutes of Forgot Password functionality on all interfaces such as:
    BlackBerry website (blackberry.com/blackberryid)
    BlackBerry PlayBook
    BlackBerry smartphone
    Note: After 15 minutes, they get 1 try, and if they fail to answer the question correctly, they are locked out for an additional 15 minutes.

    Note: If the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed, it is necessary to provide the answer to the password recovery question as part of the web based password reset flow.  To see if a BlackBerry ID account is confirmed, login to the BlackBerry ID account, select Account Details and locate the Email Status field.  For instructions on confirming the BlackBerry ID account follow  KB34137.
    To generate a password reset email, complete the following:
    Browse to the following URL using a desktop browser, the Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook: http://blackberryid.blackberry.com/bbid/recoverpassword
    Enter the BlackBerry ID Username (email address) and the CAPTCHA characters, then clickSubmit.

    Locate the password reset email and select the Change your BlackBerry ID password link.
    Note: The BlackBerry ID reset email will come from [email protected] If the email is not found in the inbox, check the Spam or Junk folder.
    When the password reset page loads, enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, enter the New Password, Confirm Password, then click Submit.
    Note: Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed.
    A confirmation message will display once the changes have been saved successfully.
    Moving forward use the newly created password whenever logging into BlackBerry ID.
    Note: If the BlackBerry ID email address is a BlackBerry mail address (e.g. <username>@tmo.blackberry.net), the BlackBerry ID password reset email will not be received on the BlackBerry smartphone. Since the BlackBerry mail address is not accessible from a computer, the steps outlined in KB28111 will need to be performed.
    IT ALL LEADS BACK TO THE SAME UNHELPFUL NON-SOLUTION OF USE THE PASSWORD RECOVERY QUESTION....
    Can the tech department of Blackberry please sort out this ridiculous unhelpful system by sending customers a direct email if password is forgotten so they can reset without having to go through the above without finding a solution.
    THANK YOU.

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!

    Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
    That said, it sounds like you have exhausted all of the automatic recovery methods...but just in case, please see this "sticky" post for helpful information concerning your BBID situation:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World/How-to-regain-access-to-your-BBID/td-p/25467...
    Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
    But do please keep in mind that security is a 2-way street...the human element play an equal part in that security, and you have failed at that in this situation, yet desire for the automated methods to still recover for you. Such just isn't possible, because your failure has exceeded the capabilities of the automated methods.
    Hence, you likely need human intervention from an actual BB representative, which is not available in this forum (as discussed in the first link I gave you above). But, the methods to attempt to seek human intervention are posted within the 2nd link I gave you.
    Cheers, and Good Luck!
