Forgot restriction password on iPad mini

Unfortunately I have forgot the restriction password on my kind's iPad mini. I have found discussions explaining that I need to reset the device to default factory to solve the issue and reset the pwd.
My kinds have photo and games. I would like to know if the following series might work to recover apps and photos:
1) backup all contents on iCloud
2) reset the device to default factory
3) restore the backup via iCloud
Will it work? Or will action 3) recover the old forgotten pwd?
Is there a way to reset the device (including the restriction pwd) and THEN restore photos and apps?

Restoring from the backup that was made while the Restriction Code was in place will restore the Restriction Code.
You'll have to copy all data and files to your computer or iCloud, then restore, then copy all files and data back after you copy back all the apps.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

I have never set one and don't know why it's there.
I am on the 5th try now.. and don't want to lock it down if the 6th try is incorrect....

I did not use Exchange account .....
or is there a way to reset the numbers of passcode tries? I am now on the 5th try, if I can roll it back to 0, I can give it few more tries and see if I can hit the lottery...

I was rushed and entered a restrictions password on my IPad. Now it will not allow me to change it. I wrote it down, but it does not work. Is there any way to reset it. If you have upgraded your iPad to iOS 7 .3 and you want to restore your iPad 2 to factory settings and re install iOS 7 and if you did not back up your previous iOS and you set restrictions with a different key from your log in 4 number key you will be prompted to unlock restrictions to dis able Find my iPad ! I then realised that I had for got my restrictions password so I went to reset all completely wipe from factory settings I can not open Restrictions so you can not do this on Itunes in OS X 10.9 Mavericks iTunes. so he will not be allowed to reset all.
I could be wrong ,lets find out I found when I installed Mavericks and the new iPhoto I got duplicates so I thought I would restore the iPad, it is a good idea when a new iOS comes along is to restore every thing is on the cloud so you just re down load ,He mihgt have hidden the Apps but you can still get them if you search for purchased.

i got my iphone back from repair and i was going to restore the pictures from the icloud backup so i have to reset But i forgot my restriction password and have tried 8 failed pass code attempt then i found another way But when i connect it to my computer (i also backed it up here) it says "this accessory may not be supported" then it says on my computer "itunes has stopped working" I'm really scared please help me is there another way?

If you can't remember the restrictions passcode, the ONLY way to remove it is to restore your phone as a "new" device in iTunes. That will erase all data on the phone, including the restrictions passcode. If you try to restore from backup, you'll merely continue to restore it, as the restrictions passcode is included in the iPhone backup.
