Forgot root Password

Hi all
I am using solaris 10 on my desktop and I am unable to login because I do not remember my root password any more.
I have searched through net any came to conclusion that I have to use CDROM to boot into single user mode and then follow the given steps.. but my problem is that I donot have a CDROM also.
I also read somewhere One can crack the password using failsafe mode but I know nothing about it.
Please Help me beacuse I need this system badly.....

You can only do it with physical access to the machine (or an ALOM).
Once you have physical access to a machine, all bets are off.
If nothing else, they can put in a CD and boot some other operating system of their choice.
Or pull the hard drive out and take it away.
You can put a password on the OBP I believe which will stop anything short of stealing the harddrive.
To stop someone stealing the harddrive, about all you can do is go for an encrypted filesystem, and as far as I am aware, Solaris doesnt support that.
But no, its not really a security problem. And if it is, its not solaris fault..

Old IMAC with 10.5.6 OSX. Forgot Administrator password. Started up from OSX install disc 1 and selected password reset from utilies in Installer. But HD icon doesn't show up. (Only install disc and admin root available:no good). What can I do?

You should not confuse it with a normal administrator account.).

Not familiar with that version of OS X but try using Terminal and type in resetpassword. If that brings up a password reset screen is your original username shown?

Reset guest root password

Hi All,
I've saved a 2.2.2 guest into a template, imported that into 3.0.2 and created a guest using it. VM starts up fine but can't remember the password for root (this was a once off where we changed the root password so a vendor could access it as root and forgot to change it back).
So I wanted to boot the guest from a System Rescue CD off the network via ftp after mounting the iso. Well, that didn't work out too well:
Error: Boot loader didn't return any data!
Tried changing the path to various folders in the mounted iso to no avail. Tried a Fedora 15 live cd as well but same problem. So I'm thinking unlike the Oracle Linux iso's, other distributions are not so straight forward when trying to boot from them off the network (http/ftp etc).
Is there a way to boot a PVM guest off the network to iso's other than Oracle Linux? Or perhaps another way to reset the root password for this guest?

You can however login to Dom0, and boot the guest using xm create -c /path/to/vm.cfg -- this will throw up the GRUB menu so you can add the "single" kernel boot parameter and change the root password in single-user mode.
Alternatively, you could boot from a Network Location using the kernel and ramdisk options. Just depends on which distribution you're using.

ARD to set root password

Is there a way to set the root password to several clients using ARD 2.2? I would normally do this using Netinfo Manager at the machine. I'm assuming there is a unix command to do this?
I finished setting up a computer lab and forgot to set the root password before I cloned the hard drive. I need to secure my workstations from clever students.

Root Password after Solaris 11 Autoinstall?

So this would normally be a simple thing since according to the docs, the default root password is "solaris" but it seems doesn't work after I reboot my newly installed solaris 11 system.
I even tried reinstalling, and logging in while it installed and changing the password to something simple but even that doesn't work.
What is odd that during the autoinstall, I can log in as root with the solaris password but after the system is rebooted(after fully installing) the root password doesn't appear to work.
Am I supposed to set a root password in the manifest that would be used for the fully installed system?

I figured out the problem. I completely forgot I had set up a system configuration profile and I set the root role password in it.

Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. I can't update any of my apps. I have an old email address that I forgot the password to. I set up a new apple idea (I do know the password to this one), but every time I try to update my apps, it brings me back to my old email.

I've tried many times to get rid of my old iTunes account. I have made a new Apple ID and I do remember the password. My 2 main problems are, i can't update ANY of my apps (and I have 53 to update now), and I can't get rid of my old old email that I forgot the password to. Every time I try to reset the account and start a new iTunes account, it will ask me for my new email. I've tried multiple times to change it, bbut every time i do, it asks me to put a password when for my old email that I forgot the password to reset the account.

Once you purchase or download an app it will always be associated with the Apple ID used to download it. When that app requires and update you must use the Apple ID and password used to download it in the first place. The only way around this is to delete the apps the require the old Apple ID and download or purchase them again with the new Apple ID.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

The instructions are in that link. Just follow them VERY CAREFULLY. Especially the part about:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes. [but DON'T connect it to the iPhone yet]
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see the iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.

Admin totally forgot the password and i've no idea where to reset the password or how to remove the admin so that I can be the admin, but first thing, still the same. PASSWORD -.-

When I checked the support site for Romania, you apparently don't have an Apple Care contact center. You "may" try calling the US Apple care number to verify the account and have the password reset sent to a different email address. 800-694-7466
