Forgot to backup iPad before updating, now my only option is restoring please help.

I updated my iPad thinking it was backed up to the cloud... It was not. Now I'm getting the connect to iTunes logo and it wants me to restore my iPad. Is there a way of reverting back to the way it was with or without the new software? I have about 3 years of data that will be lost otherwise...

Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If there is no backup of the device to iCloud or iTunes and the device has gone into recovery mode when trying to update, then the data is gone. If the device was connected to iTunes to do the update originally, it is possible the default backup was done, unless your son disabled it. To check to see if there is a backup, go in iTunes, click on Edit, Preferences, Devices and see if there is a backup listed for the date/time before the update was started. If he was doing the update OTA on the phone, then there is no backup. No backup, no photos.

2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

Back Ed up my iPad before updating toIOS5 today. Problem: After all the Rigamorole was over, my library of 46 books is not on the iPad but is still in the backup library. How do I get them on the iPad. Only reason I bought the blooming machine was for the e-books.

Are the books on you computer' iTunes (did you copy them over via File > Transfrer Puchases ?) - if they are then you can sync them back to the iPad. If they aren't then you can re-download book purchases from Apple for free, as long as they are still available in the store and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to purchase them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

One day this was happened to me:I deleted some videos that i don't need and after about a month i went to a music concert and i recorded with my iPhone for about 25-30 min and my iphone froze and automacitly restarted after a restart when a went home and i wanted to watch what i had recorded and in my camera roll on my iphone i saw the videos that i deleted about a month ago!!! There has never been a legit way to downgrade.
It will always restore to the latest available software.

You most likely installed Windows 7 in EFI mode. Can you confirm this?
If you used Bootcamp Assistant to partition your drive, you did not install in EFI mode.
If you selected "EFI Boot" at the boot menu before installing Windows, you started the EFI Boot installer.
Please let us know whether or not you installed in EFI mode because audio not working is a common problem in EFI mode, but should not appear in normal BIOS mode. (Normal BIOS mode is when you used Bootcamp assistant)
