Forgot to erase apple tv before returning it, will apple reset it before reselling?

i swapped my defective apple tv for a new one but forgot to reset the first one before returning it. will apple reset it before reselling it (if they fix it)? I signed into my itunes account and chose not to ask for password for buying content.

Seasons Greetings
Apple will erase all content before refurbishing the unit.

As far as I know, AppleCare Plus only covers up to two incidents of accidental damage from handling; it doesn't cover a lost phone.

  • Time capsule says disk has an error and will not mount on my computer; how can I purge TC before returning it to apple for replacement?

Time capsule will not mount but stillhas wi-fi;apple sent a replacement that works fine. I have to send my old time capsule back to apple but I want to purge it for security reason (personal data).  Will pushing the reset button while plugging it in to restore to factory setting delete all back-ups also?

No, it won't do anything to the hard disk.
You need to go to the disk tab on the airport utility.. and erase the drive.. if the drive doesn't show up it is dead and not an issue.. Also Apple are careful to destroy data left on drives.. It might be hard to trust them.. but I think they are careful.. mind you if you have your account numbers for your multi-million dollar accounts.. then use an axe and forget the warranty.

  • Backing up a defective MB before returning it to Apple

I am returning my defective MB to Apple. What's the best way to backup the contents of the hard drive for installation on the new MB when it arrives?
Unfortunately I had to do two archive and install procedures, which appear to have used a lot of disk space. I have a Maxtor one touch external drive that I have copied the contents of the MB onto using Disk Utility. I assume the large "previous system" folders from the archive and Install would be included in the "restore" to the new machine. I would rather keep my new system lean from the start if possible.
I could live with just keeping my music and photos if that is easier. Any tips on backing those files up for easy installation on a new system?
    Thanks for any ideas.

Why don't you just back up your User folder contents, and any applications you installed that did not come on your MBP. You could also back up your Safari and Mail folders in Users-Library. Everything else will already be on your replacement. If you installed printer drivers, etc., then you could just reinstall them.
To use your external drive with your MBP to do an entire bootable back up, you should use a program like SuperDuper, available at Versiontracter.com

  • If I erase and sync my ipod touch will it reset my password?

    HELP!

What do you mean by erase?  If you mean: Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings and the restore from backup then the resulting iPod will not contain the screen passcode.  It will still include the Restictons passcode if you have one set up.

  • Will apple factory unlock my phone, will apple factory unlock my phone

I am going out of the country and was told I needed an unlocked phone so i can get a new sim card over there. please help

No. The only one that can unlock you iPhone is the carrier who holds the contract on it.
I have been out of country numerous time with my iPhone and it is NOT unlocked.
I do call my carrier and have my account with them changed for overseas travel.

  • OSX 10.4.8 Will Apple repair within the update?

After days of trying to repair the damage 10.4.8 caused to my MacBook's OS, following all the tips and tricks on this forum, I am left only with the Erase and Install option.
Questions - Will Apple tech patch the many problems forum users are experiencing within 10.4.8 as these issues are fixed? Will I be able to install 10.4.8 say a month or so from now and get an updated version? If so, how do I know which updated version I am getting and which issues have been resolved within the update?
Thanks for your responses. I am new to MAC after using the "other OS" for many years!
MacBook 2.0Ghz Intel CoreDuo   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   "my first MAC"

There will be no revised releases of 10.4.8. The next update would be 10.4.9 assuming that such an update would be released between now and when 10.5 is released.
In most cases 10.4.8 has not caused any problems. I've upgraded three computers thus far without any incident as well as having beta tested 10.4.8 prior to its release on both a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro.
Perhaps the problems you were having could have been the result of upgrading an already corrupted system. After you do your Erase and Install and have a freshly functioning and clean system you should download the 10.4.8 Combo Updater (Intel version) and give it a try. I would, however, recommend you create a bootable backup of your system beforehand. That will alleviate restoring the old system in the event of problems.
In the future there are certain precautions you can follow that will reduce the likelihood of update problems.
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions.
    2. Make a bootable backup of the current system.
    3. Download and use only the Combo Updater.
    4. Boot into safe mode before installing the update.

apple tv not working tv screen just showing the apple icon

    Hi spirogro!
I have an article for you that can help you troubleshoot this issue with your Apple TV:
    Apple TV: Basic troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1551
If you can see a picture but Apple TV isn't responding
Note: If the Apple TV status light does not flash white when you press a remote button, the issue may be with the remote. In this case, go to the the "If the remote isn't working" section below.
Press and hold Menu on the Apple Remote to return to the Apple TV main menu.
Reset Apple TV by unplugging it from the power outlet, waiting about five seconds, then plugging it in again or by pressing and holding Menu and down / scroll on your Apple remote.
Power off your TV, wait five seconds, then power it back on.
Make sure your TV is functioning correctly. See the documentation that came with your TV for more information.

  • HT201441 will apple reset the apple id on a used ipad if you have a purchase receipt?

    Will apple help with this?
Since we are all users here.....just like you....I don't think that anyone here is going to be able to give you accurate information about what Apple will do.
Best to call Apple and ask them what they will do.

  • Will Apple replace my ipad2 for the second time

My first  ipad2 had a white spot on the screen and i took it to the center and the technician replaced it. It took bout two weeks for me to get the replacement ipad. Just now i found that my replacement ipad is a refurbish ipad, not a brand new as what the technician said. Refurbish serial number starts with DK.
Now, my replacement aka refurbish ipad has another problem not caused by me. Refer here for my initial posting,
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17698611#17698611
Will apple replace it with another refurbish ipad? Or hopefully i can get a spanking brand new just like when i bought it. :)
Hopefully apple do not have the so called " one time replacement policy" as this is not my fault.

The warranty is still valid, with 6 months remaining...
Im fine with refurb item from apple as the refurbs are being put into test much more rigorous than the original. Spec wise n performance should be equivalent as the new one.
But, its just a feeling of unhappy or unsatisfy.
Imagine you bougt a brand new car, then ur car got defect...u proceed to the dealer n walla, they agree to replace ur car. But the replacement car is refurb/second hand car that has been put into 'new condition'. Dont you expect that u should get a new car instead of refurb? Coz u paid much money for the new car, not for a refurb car. Unless, in the beginning you buy a refurb car then u have no right demanding for a new car for replacement.
NEW CAR= NEW CAR FOR REPLACEMENT
REFURB CAR= REFURB CAR FOR REPLACEMENT
    back to philly_phan question,
in the very very very first place when i have defect on my ipad, i sent in my brand new not a refurb ipad to the store, n the technician said it was going to be a new ipad for replacement,  not a secondhand/refurb whatsoever. I asked him thrice for conformation on this matter. But in the end................... and now the refurb is having a problem rite now.
Again, it just the issue of unsatisfactory not an issue on the spec or performance.

  • When will Apple allow background processes for the iPhone?

Can't find a suitable subforum so I'll post it here, please refer me to the correct Apple forum otherwise.
When will Apple allow background processes for the iPhone?
When will Apple allow Alerts from 3rd party apps?
Even my first Palm Pilot allowed developers to use Alert beeps.
Why is Apple crippling the iPhone?
If they continue this, Android will be the winner.
Or will the next SDK allow this?

Background processing, simply won't. They already said they won't and explained why.
However, they are currently adding "Push" ability to developers (soon). Originally they did say they were shooting for Sept (but obviously that has passed). Nobody can say "why" it is late or when it will come. Just know it is coming.
Push in case you don't know will let a service (one service) run in the background that apple makes for the phone. that service will ping apple's servers. Apps that want to "run" in the background have to register with that service thus lets say AIM is on your phone, you send a message and close...somebody responds. AIM's servers will send notification to the push service...then the phone will alert you of a notification in the AIM app, you open (thus starts the app again) and it gets the message.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I'm not sure if you are referring to how long it's taking or why it varies.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
If your internet speed varies, the time will be recaculated from time to time.

    Greetings chaimba216,
After reviewing your post, I located an article that can help with resetting your iCloud password:
    iCloud: Change your iCloud password
Your iCloud password protects the privacy of the information (such as your email) stored in iCloud. Your password also protects your ability to locate or remotely erase your device using Find My iPhone. You should regularly change your iCloud password to protect your information. Your iCloud password is the password for the Apple IDyou use to sign in to iCloud.
Important: If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud as you do with other Apple services such as the Apple Online Store, iTunes Store, App Store, or to purchase products in iPhoto or Aperture, changing your iCloud password also changes your password for these services. Make sure you sign in to those locations using your new password.
Go to the My Apple ID website (appleid.apple.com) and follow the instructions to reset your Apple ID password.
For more information, see the Apple Support article Apple ID: Changing your password.
After changing your iCloud password, make sure you update it on all your devices and in any email apps you use to get your iCloud email.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > iCloud, then tap your iCloud account.
On a Mac: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
On a Windows computer: Open iCloud for Windows.
In your email apps: Check the help provided for the email apps you’re using.
If you set up iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, make sure to set up a passcode lock on your device for added security. (Go to Settings > Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode.)
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Bobby_D
