Forgotten my encrypted password for iPhone back up, how many attempts?

Does anyone know the limit of failed attempts for entering the password for iphone encrypted back ups?
I have so many passwords and when I created the encryption I was on a PC (now on an iMac), so if I had keychain access, I didn't know about it. Now my only option is to trawl through all the passwords I can think of! I'm just worried I might disable the whole thing and get locked out forever!
Is there a limit to failed attempts? And is it reset daily?
I don't think it makes any difference, but just in case, I better mention the back ups were taken from an iPhone 3G on a PC, transferred to an iMac (OS X 10.7.2) and I'm now using an iPhone 4s.
Thanks in advance!

  • HT5787 I made a HD with Yosemite to be used as a startup disk. I have forgotten the adm password for this disk. How can i reset the adm password?

Change adm login password running the MacBookPro from an external disk.

Restart holding the Command and R keys, then from Utilities on the menu bar select Terminal.  When the Terminal opens, type at the cursor EXACTLY:
    resetpassword
    and press Enter.
When the Reset Password window opens, select the drive then select the user account.  Type a new password twice, leave the Hint blank, Save and accept the next dialog that opens.  At the bottom of the Reset Password window agree to reset the user's home directory permissions,
Go to the apple left side of the menu bar and Restart.

  • Reset encryption password for NEW iPhone backups

    Hello Everyone,
I have an iPhone and iPad which are currently working perfectly.  However during testing I figured out that I somehow lost my iTunes backup encryption password.  As such I figured I would just change the backup password, delete the old backups, and create NEW backups for which I do know the password to and all would be good (and ready for a future device failure.)
However it appears that iTunes will not allow you to change or disable the encryption password for NEW backups without first knowing the old encryption password.  Does anyone know if a way around this?
    Thank you for your time.

    Thanks!

  • I updated iTunes to 10.5 and now my encryption passwords for my iPhone and iPad don't work.

I updated iTunes to 10.5 and now my encryption passwords for my iPhone and iPad don't work. I know Apple says if you forget them then it's your problem. However, this was a direct result of my iTunes upgrade. I spent hours trying to fix this. HELP!

Definitely seems to be a cross-platform bug in iTunes 10.5 concerning all NAS disks. Shared libraries on network drives worked fine under 10.4.1, but now there is just an endless loading cycle with no error message or time-out. There is a bit more about it in this thread.

    Hey rehman iphone,
Did you forget your Apple ID's password, or your iPhone's passcode? Depending on which situation you're in, check out the steps in one of these two articles:

The only thing you can do is drop your backups and plug your device to your computer to make another backup.

  • HT5622 I reset my ID and password for my Mac. How do I get that ID and password to work for my iPhone?

I reset my ID and password for my Mac. How do I get that ID and password to work for my iPhone? My account is disabled on the iPhone until I have the ID and password synched for both devices.

You cannot merge iCloud/Apple IDs. You must decide which one ot use, one or the other. Login with your new ID on your computer.
Be aware that content/apps purchased with the old ID will be forever tied to that ID.

  • How to get pics in the iphoto app for iphone back onto my macbook pro

I need to know how to get my pics that are stored on iphone in the "iphoto app for iPhone" back onto my macbook pro's iphoto. macbook was recently wiped out (i didn't back up) during Genius Bar repair

    See this support article  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
The safest way would be to share all photos that are in iPhoto albums to the Camera Roll. When you connect the iPhone to your Mac and open iPhoto you can download the contents of the Camera Roll just like from any camera.

  • Weblogic 10.3 deployException: Could not encrypt password for connection

Well, I guess this is my first time posting in a forum.
My problem is that, when trying to run my servlet, using a jdbc:odbc connection
to an Access-database, I get the following error in the server log:
    Running dependency analysis...
    2009-03-27 16:59:40.106: Writing WAR file to C:\Program Files\JDeveloper\jdeveloper\system\system11.1.1.0.31.51.56\o.j2ee\drs\TableViewApplication\TableViewApplication-tableviewproj-webapp

ERROR: Could not encrypt password for Connection TBLViewConnect.
The connection I'm using works fine when testing it with the JDeveloper's SQL editor.
    It's properties are:
    Connection Name: TBLViewConnect
    Connection Type: JDBC-ODBC Bridge
as well as username, password and a local datasource
    I'm running JDeveloper 11.1.1 on Vista 32bit
Besides, it's my first time using a database-connection with a servlet
    thanks for your help

guess I could have found that earlier ;)
I just had to uncheck the "save password" option in the connection menu and write it in the getConnection() method instead.

Try a Reset... you will not lose data or settings...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
