Forgotten password for old email account(iTunes user id)

The iTunes account I have on my iPhone is an old account with a password no one can seem to remember, so I finally decided to create a new account on my computer. I can download things just fine with my new account on my computer. I synced my iPhone with my computer thinking it would recognize my new account, but it's still asking me for my old account's password, which I don't remember. I can't ask it to send me my forgotten password because I don't have that email account any more (which is my user id on my iPhone). Any suggestions?

I would recommend sticking with one account and not using a new account.
Update the info in the account with your new info.

My iPod Touch 5 keeps asking me for my iCloud Apple ID password for my former mail address. I have tried entering every possibility I can think of (not exactly sure of my old password) so that I might go in and fix or delete it but it still pops up. If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

It's doing that because these apps were originally purchased with that Apple ID. Apps and their updates are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them. The only way to stop this would be to delete these apps from your phone and your iTunes library, then repurchase them with your current ID.

I have no clue what my password is for an old iCloud account. I've tried deleting the account but need to enter the password to sign out of "find my iPhone". When going to the old email account it is no longer active. Any one ??

Try going to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address (even if it is no longer active) and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Yes, I believe I did with no success playing some of my "old albums." The remaing albums worked just fine.
I think I found a workaround by signing in to the old website using "forgot" password and changed it to a new one. Then I signed in using my Apple ID and Passwird. This seems to have worked.

I changed my apple id to my new password over a year ago. Trying to restore my iphone and its asking for the password for my old apple id (old email address) which I no longer have access to. Tried the 'answer questions' to reset but it won't accept my valid birthdate. How can I make this prompt for my old email address go away and make it ask for my new one (new apple id). A similar issue is that iCloud keeps popping up asking for the password for my old email address as well.

You can't link to your new account (you created a new iTunes account, you didn't update your existing account ?) until removed removed the activation lock to your old account - you can then link it to your new account in Settings > iCloud.
If you can't get the password for your old account reset via http://iforgot.apple.com then try contacting Support in your country, after confirming your id and that it's your account they should be able to reset it for you.

How do you reset a password for an email account that I don't have anymore?

My email address for my original i-pod is not in use anymore and I can't get it back. I can't remember the secret question and having them send a temporary password to the old email address is useless. I have the music from my i-pod in my i-tunes library, but can't play any of it becuase it keeps asking me to authorize it.

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

Then sign in with that Apple ID. Whether your email changed or not is irrelevant. The Apple ID "name" (often the email address you originally used to sign up) should not change.
