• Form with HTTP Submit.. Do I need a Guided Procedure ? How to Configure it?

Hi masters.
I have a adobe interactive form with HTTP submit, it works when it runs online, but when I save the pdf file, open, fill and submit, the server does not recieve any request.
I have read a lot of tutoriais but I still haven´t find a specific tutorial from the begin to the end of this process.
Should I create a Guided Procedure to recieve this form from http submit ? How can I create it ?
NetWeaver CE

Regardless of whether this bar is displayed or not, you should be able to access what is in the "Favourites" folder in a few ways.
Firstly via the Bookmarks link in Safari. This is the first icon directly to the right of the address bar. Pressing this will open your Bookmarks menu. If you see the word Bookmarks in blue select this and it will take you to the main bookmarks page, and the word Bookmarks will appear in black bold text. If you see Bookmarks in black bold text when first clicking Bookmarks you are where you need to be. The first link on here will be Favourites and have a star icon right next to it, click on Favourites and you will see what has been added to your Favourites folder - if anything.  Also there is an Edit button in the bottom right of this screen, if you aren't going where you expected when selecting a URL in here press Edit, press the > arrow to the right of the favourite name, is the URL correct? If not change it, and click DONE on the keyboard - appears where Return key normally shows on the right-hand side.
If you are opening Safari and have no tabs already open or have already closed pages so none are open you will see icons that represent the contents of your Favourites folder displayed at the top of the page.
Also with a page loaded if you click in to the URL field then you will see these icons appear again, together with the keyboard at the bottom of the page.
Hope this helps.

• Cannot use XML Forms Builder - HTTP response: 500 - Internal Server Error

• Run Form in HTTPS or SSL mode without installing Application Server

Hi all,
I have installed Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Developer suite 10g in my PC (Window XP). Now I want to implement SSL or running forms in HTTPS mode instead HTTP and I don't want to install Application server.
Any workaround is there to run Forms in HTTPS mode without installing Application server.
Thanks,
Omer

Performance issue? How old is your hardware? I am running OAS 10.1.2.3 on a Server 2003 VM which basically consumes 512MB RAM and ludicrous amounts of CPU/IO.
In any case: as said if you want to test SSL in a real life scenario then enabling SSL in OC4J is not what you want to do. In production the configuration is completely different, as there you would configure Apache to run your forms via SSL.
What comes to my mind would be to install Apache 1.3 (this would be the version OAS 10.1.2 uses), configure mod_oc4j there and configure it with SSL. On the other hand this also isn't the configuration you have in production so this also is not exacly what you want.
If you want to verify if your forms application will run via SSL then most certainly it will run without changing your sources. The only things you might have to change would be if you do HTTP Requests from the database to your application server via utl_http or from the client to the application server via java beans or via the java importer.
But for tests I'd strongly recommend doing it via an application server installation, and not via developer suite.
cheers

• Submitting a PDF form via HTTP Post: Beginner's Questions

Hi,
I am completely new to PDF forms, so I have been finding the documentation and options overwhelming.
I am hoping to get pointed to the documentation/tutorials/examples I really need.
I would like to build a "proof of concept" for my boss.  I would like to include a screen in our Java ( JSP & Spring ) webapp where either a PDF form is embedded or is accessed via a link.
I have
Adobe Acrobat Distiller X standard license
Adobe Acrobat X Standard
Microsoft Office 2010
I made a small, 3 field Microsoft Word form.  I then converted it via DIstiller into a PDF form.
I then found this document about how to submit a PDF form to a server side component:
http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/form-submit-e-mail-demystified
My big problem with this document it doesn't have an example nor an example showing what is going on in a full HTML page.   As I result I have some questions:
Can I see such an example somewhere?
Does the call to the javascript function doc.SubmitForm(urlToMyServerSideComponent) go in a script tag on the HTML page like other javascripts?
Can I execute that submit function from an HTML button or do I need to put a "submit" button on the PDF form?
Do I need Adobe LiveCycle in order to create a PDF form with a "submit" button?  Free versions?
Can I send via HTTP POST ?
Do I need Adobe LiveCycle to crate a PDF form with a digital signature?
Is there a document/tutorial that fits where I am starting off from? ( Please no books, I am tyring to show my boss that this is something that can be done, in a reasonable amount of time, not time to get and go through a book ).
Thanks in advance for any tips that get me pointed in the right direction
Steve

To answer some of your specific questions:
2, 3. The submit form button needs to be on the PDF. You can either configure a Submit Form action or use the submitForm JavaScript method.
4, 6: No to both questions. You can create the form in Acrobat. Such forms are knows as Acroforms, as opposed to XFA forms that are created with LiveCycle Designer. Acroforms have wider support.
5: Yes, that's the method that's used when submitting to a web server. You have your choice of formats. The "HTML Form" option causes the form data to be submitted in the same format as an HTML form, so the same type of server-side code can be used to process the data. As Dave's tutorial shows, the server should return an FDF as the response, however, as opposed to HTML content.
It's a mistake to try to embed the PDF in a web page. So much depends on the user's browser, PDF viewer, and how both are configured. PDF forms can be submitted directly from Adobe Reader/Acrobat, so it's not necessary for them to be viewed in a browser. Note that Adobe Reader for iOS/Android don't yet support submitting to a web server (apart from FormsCentral), but that's is supposedly being worked on.
Since you mentioned digital signatures, be aware that for Reader users to be able to sign, the document has to be Reader-enabled, either with Acrobat Pro or LiveCycle Reader Extensions (which is not the same as LiveCycle Designer). Digital signatures in PDF forms are not yet supported on mobile devices. Also, you will want to submit the entire PDF, as opposed to just the form data, when submitting a digitally signed form.

• Submit Pdf form to http w/ credentials (username/password)

Hi!
I developed a form in Adobe LiveCycle, it has a button which submits form with attachments to http site.
No coding involved, just configuration of the button.
Http site requires credentials (username/password). How do I pass those credentials with submission?
Can username/password be added to http header?
Or I can excecute some javascript before submission?
Thanks you!

I got it working
1. WS (in .net) must be asmx service. WS method accepting attachment should have string as a parameter, which will be passed as base-64 encoded string. So to save it as a file it has to be decoded first. I used byte[] ... = Convert.FromBase64String(yourstring).
Keep in mind string <= 2GB
2. In PDF file add WS service as Data Connection (File->New Data Connection ->WSDL File-> wsdl -> etc...). PDF will generate all WS parameters and a button to call WS. Drag and drop data connection on the form OR right mouse click -> generate fields OR set <connect> element of different controls as you wish to match data connection. Let's say control generated and binded to WS input string parameter is called "base64StringDocContent" (name = "base64StringDocContent") and button that submits to WS is called "submitAttachmentBtn" (name="submitAttachmentBtn").
3. Javascript code to send attachment to WS:
//access pdf form
var formDom = event.target;
//attachment id should be unique, can be anything you like
var attachmentId = new Date().getTime() + "";
//prompt user for document and get it
var documentSelected = formDom.importDataObject(attachmentId);
if (documentSelected == true){
         //user selected the document
         //get stream of the document (attachment)
         var inputStream = formDom.getDataObjectContents(attachmentId);
         //get new stream encoded as base64
         var vEncodedStream = Net.streamEncode(inputStream, "base64");
         //get string from the stream
         var sBase64 = util.stringFromStream(vEncodeStream);
         //get conrol which is binded to WS input parameter
         //my PDF form is called form1
         var wsInputParam = form1.resolveNode("$..base64StringDocContent");
         //get button which submits to WS
         var wsSubmitBtn = form1.resolveNode("$..submitAttachmentBtn");
         //assign attachment content (encoded string to input parameter)
         wsInputParam.rawValue = sBase64;
         //call click event of WS submit button
         wsSubmitBtn.execEvent('click');
         //done
         //if WS returns any value it will be assigned to control binded to output value of the web service.
else{
         //user clicked Cancel
4. Validation and try and catch should be added where/when needed.
Hope it saves a couple of days for somebody.
Good luck!!!
I am still curious how to work with credentials doing http submission.
If somebody has a solution please post it.

• Forms Builder - HTTP Response: 500 - Internal Server Error

Hello,
When starting the Forms Builder in our dev environment, the new java window pops up and I get a an error pop up that says:HTTP Response: 500 - Internal Server Error.
I click OK on this and it comes back several times. After a while the forms builder displays, but there is no connection to the server. I do not have this problem in our stage system.
Does anyone know how to rememdy this?
Thanks,
Chris.

When I run the check tool in the dev environment, it performs several of the tests and then states "all tests performed successfully". None of the lights turn green. It says it successfully downloads the jar files, but says that the XML forms server version is 'null'. The load global settings and project list tests were not even started.
When I do the same for our stage environment, all the tests ARE performed and all the lights turn green.
Thanks,
Chris.

• Adobe interactive forms, Invalid HTTP connection: ADS

Hello,
I've installed the Netweaver ABAP trial minisap on my pc and wanted to use adobe interactive forms.

• Sent data as an HTML form using HTTP with Prolog

Hello,
I am trying to sent data to a marketplaces via HTTP Post like it is described in the online documentation ( http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/14/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm ) but it doesn't work.
I am trying to send 2 Post variables. An account ID and the content (an IDoc)
I made the following entry in the prolog:
id=abc&content=
I wrote a short php-Script to check weather the variables are sent correctly..
<?php
$id = $_POST['id'];
$content = $_POST['content'];
$filename = "Filename ".$id.".xml";
/* Open a new File */
$fp = fopen($filename,"w");
fwrite($fp,$content);
/* Close file */
fclose($fp);
?>
This script just creates a new file with the id as the filename and the content as the content of the file.
When I run the test, the script receives no variables...
Is there something wrong with the prolog?
Yours
Thomas

Thomas,
did you try <b>&</b>id=abc&content= ?
Just to stick to the documentation....
Did you play with a <i>?</i> - may also help.
Finally - did you try with a manually entered post (e.g. via telnet) whether your php is correct. But I assume you know what you do....

• Large number of http posts navigating between forms

Hi,
i'm not really a forms person (well not since v3/4 running character mode on a mainframe!), so please be patient if I'm not providing the most useful information.
An oracle forms 10 system that I have fallen into supporting has to me very poor performance in doing simple things like navigating between forms/tabs.
Looking at the java console (Running Sun JRE 1.6.0_17), and turning on network tracing, I can see a much larger number of post requests than I would expect (I looked here first as initially we had an issue with every request going via a proxy server, and I wondered if we had lost the bypass proxy setting). Only a normal number of GETS though.
Moving to one particualr detail form from a master record is generating over 300 post requests - I'v confirmed this looking at the Apache logs on the server. This is the worst one I have found, but in general the application appears to be extremely 'chatty'
The only other system I work with which uses forms doesn't generate anything like these numbers of requests, which makes me think this isn't normal (As well as the fact this particular form is very slow to open)
This is a third party application, so i don't have access to the source unfortunately.
Is there anything we should look at in our setup, or is this likely to be an application coding issue? This app is a recent conversion from a forms 6 client server application (Which itself ran ok, at least this bit of the application did with no delays in navigation between screens).
I'm happy to go back to the supplier, but it might help if I can point them into some specific directions, plus i'd like to know what's going on too!
Regards,
Carl

Sounds odd. 300 Requests is by far too much. As it was a C/S application: did they do anything else except the recompile on 10g? Moving from C/S to 10g webforms seems to be easy as you just need to recompile but in fact it isn't. There are many things which didn't matter in a C/S environment but have disastrous effects once the form is deployed over the web. The synchronize built in for example. In C/S calls to synchronize wasn't that bad; But when you are using web deployed forms...each call to synchronize is a roundtrip. The usage of timers is also best kept on a low level in webforms for example.
A good starting point for the whole do's and dont's when moving forms to the web is the forms upgrade center:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/index-095046.html
If you don't have the source code available that's unfortune; but if you want to know what's happening behind the scenes there is the possibility to trace a forms session:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14032/tracing002.htm#i1035515
maybe this sheds some light upon what's going on.
cheers
