Form "action" behavior / javascript issue

I’ve got an HTML page created in Dreamweaver 8.0.2 that
is designed to put a certain size t-shirt into a Shopping Cart
(cart.php) via a form – where the user selects the shirt size
from a List/Menu, and then hits an “add to cart” image
to fire the form and send its parameters to the cart. Here is a URL
to a bare-bones page that demonstrates the problem (with a debug
popup that echos the product name):

In IE6 and IE7, everything works fine IF AND ONLY IF the user
actually changes the value of the List/Menu from the default =
Large to anything else, (or even back to Large after first changing
it to something else) before hitting “add to cart”. If
instead the user doesn’t touch the List/Menu (and thus
accepts the default = Large), then when the user hits the
“add to cart” – then it never adds the product to
the cart … as though the javascript portion of the code is
not running (except that I KNOW it is because I have an
“alert” debug popup that passes the me value of the
product).
In Firefox 2.0.0.15 and Safari 3.1.2, whether the user
changes the value of the shirt size List/Menu selector or not - it
never places the item correctly in the cart ... always shows an
empty cart. The debug popups (which correctly pop up in IE6 and
IE7) do not appear – and yes, I do have pop-ups enabled in
both Firefox and Safari. It appears that the javascript code is not
running – and I’m not sure why.
The relevant portions of the code are shown beneath my
signature. Any suggestions? Your help is GREATLY appreciated!

Here is a much more simplified demo and explanation of what
Im trying to do and also what else I learned myself last night.
The ultimate goal is for the user to use the List/Menu to
pick a size of a t-shirt that will be displayed via a photo above
the List Menu. The javascript code takes the name of the shirt
(such as SEU-) and appends a size character to the end of it
… so that the possible results are SEU-S (for small), SEU-M
for medium, SEU-L, and SEU-XL.
You can tell that it works fine if and only if the page you
are directed to after hitting “add to cart” tells you
that what you just selected has been added to the cart. It is not
working fine if it tells you “Sorry – your shopping
cart is empty”.
I stripped pretty much everything out of yesterday’s
code last night, and placed at the new URL below what I have left
that demonstrates the problem:

In IE6 and IE7, everything works fine no problems (that I
know of anyway). The debug popups in the javascript function always
pop-up, and the correct current value of the List/Menu is echoed to
me. Hitting the “add to cart” button always causes the
correct shirt descriptor (SEU-S, SEU-M, SEU-L, or SEU-XL) to be
echoed, and passed successfully into the shopping cart.
In Firefox 2.0.0.15 and Safari 3.1.2, it does not work at
all and I’m stumped! [You can see in the test cases below
how the problem surfaces.]
There are just two test cases to know that this works:
Test Case 1 Accepting List/Menu default = Large size shirt
0) Clear your browser cache; make sure pop-ups are enabled in
your browser
1) Call up the page

2) You should immediately see (and do see in IE6 and IE7) the
first (forced) call to the get_selected_productname1() function
cause a pop-up to occur with the default shirt size
“SEU-L” to be displayed to you. Hit “Okay”
on the pop-up to continue.
3) Do not touch the List/Menu (which means you accept the
default size = Large), and only hit the “add to cart”
button.
4) a) In IE6 and IE7, what you see next is that the Large
Shirt (SEU-L) is correctly added to the shopping cart – and
you are redirected to the shopping cart page that shows it actually
added. This means success.
4) b) In Firefox and Safari, something goes wrong (see
Firebug results below). You never see the pop-up from 2) above, and
when you hit the “add to cart” button it does not
successfully pass the form parameters to the cart … which you
know because the cart says “Sorry Your shopping cart is
empty”.
Test Case 2 Changing List/Menu to a different size shirt
5) Clear your browser cache; make sure pop-ups are enabled in
your browser
6) Call up the page

like “Medium”. You immediately notice (in IE6 and IE7)
that the pop-up box echoes the new shirt name (SEU-M) … hit
okay on the pop-up, then hit the “add to cart” button.
9) a) In IE6 and IE7, what you see next is that the selected
shirt (Medium in this case) is correctly added to the shopping cart
– and you are redirected to the shopping cart page that shows
it actually added. This means success.
9) b) In Firefox and Safari, again something goes wrong (see
Firebug results below). You never see either of the pop-ups, and
when you hit the “add to cart” button – it does
not successfully pass the form parameters to the cart … which
you know because the cart says “Sorry – Your shopping
cart is empty”.

So the problem is that everything works fine in IE6 and IE7,
but does not work at all in Firefox and Safari. I installed Firebug
into Firefox, and the error it gives me is that
Document.form1 has no properties
And it points me to this line of code on line 9.

I’ve been staring at this for a while, and I cannot
figure out how to fix this. If anyone has any ideas, I would be
exceptionally grateful – as I’m completely stumped.

But now the problem is I can't hard code the sequence number for the form because it can change(multiple portlets on one page, and some portlets involve different number of forms). I tryed

have you tried netui's tagId to identify your forms then use
document.forms[getNetuiTagName("myForm",this)].submit()

Set a new servlet to form.action in a Javascript method

Hi!
I have a JSP page with a form where I set a servlet to call on submit in the action attribute. This servlet is supposed to be called when pressing the submit button at the end of the page.
In JSP:
<form action="<c:url value="/commitment"/>" method="POST" name="CommitmentAdd">
My problem is that I have a select box inside my form where I use 'onchange' to call a Javascript method, and in that method I want to set another servlet to the forms action (using the servlet-mapping url-pattern name in my web.xml file).
(I want the JSP page to change due to what you choose in the select box and I'd like to have that code in a separate servlet.)
In Javascript:
document.CommitmentAdd.action="/commitmentAddReload";
document.CommitmentAdd.submit();
When the Javascript method is called I get the error:
"The requested resource (/commitmentAddReload) is not available."
How can I set a new servlet to be found and called on submit?

CRM 2013 - Inconsistent javascript issue crash the web client and user needs to reopen

We are using CRM 2013 on premise version and almost 600 users are using it. We have some inconsistent JavaScript issue (following is the log for same) which happens to users in a day or two. When this issue occurs user can not work in system and they have
to open new instance of CRM.
Does anybody knows about this error?

There is a mention of loading an iFrame in the error, do you have iFrames on the form that generates this error?
It's not on specific forms, so can't identify that. Yes we have iframes on some forms.
Does it happen on any/all entity forms, or specific ones? Do the entity forms have any custom JavaScript on them?
It's not on specific forms. And yes we have javascript on almost all forms.
Do you have any network problems or slowness in your network? Does the problem happen when the network is busy?
We need to check this on next occurrence.
Do the users that see this error have any unusual add-ins or toolbars in their browser?  This is not for specific user. Its happening for all randomly.
Have you tried other browsers like Chrome or FireFox and do users see the problem there as well?
We need to check only for IE.

Problems with file uploading servlet, the form action doesnt capture url

Hi, i have one problem. I am working on a project , i have created a servlet that takes uploaded files and processses them and links them back to user to download. The servlet works perfectly from my computer, I am using apache-tomcat-6.0.16 and java 1.6 , I have two forms called encrypt.html and decrypt.html, I will post both of them, now the problem is when somebody access it on the internet while i am running apache, they get a connection was reset on a firefox browser and same stuff on Internet Explorer.
i have checked my server logs and saw nothing unusual there, So please if you can help me, it is my project.

Hi, thank you for your replies, I found out few things about my servlet, and its portability
and i have few questions, although i marked this topic as answered i guess its ok to post
I am using javax.servlet.context.tempdir to store my files in that servletcontext temporary directory. But i dont know how to give hyperlink
of the modified files to the user for them to download the modified files.
What i am using to get the tempdir i will paste

How would I create a button in Captivate 6.0 that would perform the following action below?

How to hide specific form actions

We have a requirement from our authors to remove unwanted form actions. I assumed that this would be permission specific and went into the content-author group and removed read ability for those actions from under /libs/foundation/form/components/form/actions/
And yet they still appear.
Is there another location that I shouldbe setting the permissions or do these just show up regardless?

It should works like you wrote by set proper permissions for a group of users, but I just chekced in my local repository and it is working like in your case.
If you want check from where are taken form actions values in the dropdown first of all you need to check configuration for this field which is stored under:
- /libs/foundation/components/form/start/dialog/items/tabs/items/second/items/actiontype
As this is a widget with xtype='formactionselection' then please take a look into js file which is implementation for this widget:
- /libs/cq/ui/widgets/source/widgets/wcm/FormActionSelection.js
There you find that the values in the dropdown for this filed are populated by calling :
- /bin/wcm/foundation/forms/actions.json
and of course setting permissions should solve this problem.
In my opinion this a bug or I missed something, so only thing which I can suggest at this moment is to customize a little bit this widget.
For example you can create a sort of actions which are used only by users in the /apps/project_name/form/actions (copy only those which are used from /libs/foundation/form/components/form/actions/) and then customize the widget by changing a path from
/bin/wcm/foundation/forms/actions.json to /apps/project_name/form/actions.json
I hope this helps you somehow to understand this issue more deeply.

Disable Warning on FORM Action tag?

The following HTML is triggering warnings in my test project in Workshop:

Here's the warning message..."The file "/supportApp/supportDispatcher" cannot be found."
In this case, the warning is not-applicable because "supportDispatcher" is mapped to a Servlet in my web.xml deployment descriptors. So its a valid HTML Form action target.
How can I disable this warning in BEA Workshop (BEA Workshop JSP Editor 3.0)

Can you verify the following settings?
- Have you configured the context-root "supportApp" in Workshop?
Project > Properties > Workshop Web Application > Folders - Context Root
- Does the mapping "supportDispatcher" within url-pattern start with "/"
<servlet-mapping>
          <servlet-name>YOURSERVLETNAME</servlet-name>
          <url-pattern>/supportDispatcher</url-pattern>
     </servlet-mapping>
- By correcting these configuration the warning should disappear
If you still get the warning in the JSP page, then exercise a simple "Edit-Save" step
If the issue is persistent, please send the following files to [email protected]
- web.xml
- the JSP page
- .m7project file from project folder

Unable to get the "Submit a form" action working with Webmail: Gmail

I am attempting to create interactive PDF forms for the website which the end user will email back once filled out.
I have added a link to the form that runs the "Submit a form" action, this appears to work if you have a mail client installed, but if you specify Webmail "Gmail", the system appears to start the process with:
First asking you for the email account details to add
You are then asked to allow Adobe Acrobat permissions to your access your email account
It then attempts to create a draft message but fails with: "Error while creating message ..."
NB: I have logged into my Gmail account on the client PC and I am able to send emails.
Any ideas if this has a known problem and if a fix is available, without a fix it makes interactive PDF's a bit pointless?

I think u can use the "request.getQueryString()" to get the query string instead of using "request.getParameter()".
From the query string value u can get the output.

OAM: Form based auth IIS6, problem with form action

This should be really simple, reading all the docs and forums, they all say that the form action should be
/access/oblix/apps/webgate/bin/webgate.dll
but this doesn't exist.
Virtual dir /access points to
c:\progfiles\netpoint\webcomponent\access
in there, there is no webgate folder under apps
I do find a webgate folder here:
c:\progfiles\netpoint\webgate\access\oblix\apps\webgate\bin\webgate.dll
I tried copying the webgate folder from the 2nd to the webcomponents one but getting a 404 when trying to access the webgate.dll. I can access a test.html file in that same folder.

There is no validate form server behavior built into
Dreamweaver. Perhaps you'rr looking for the Validate Form in the
*Behaviors* (not Server behaviors) panel?

WebHelp stripping out form action

I have a form in my documentation where users may fill out questions, click a "Submit" button, and it is emailed to me. I remember testing this a few years ago and it worked great. Recently, someone contacted us to say he never heard back from his form. I then tested it, and it never was emailed to me. When I checked the HTML code, it's being stripped for some reason. I'm on the HTML tab, I type in the <form action="mailto..." > data. Then I click to the designer tab. When I click back to the HTML tab, it's gone! No sign of what I JUST typed! Here's the "naked" code:

Where you see the <form>, I had just typed in the actual action part. It just disappears though. Further, the bottom part of the code, where the closing </form> tag is, that </form> disappears as well. I type it in, click off the tab, and get this:
