Form Assistance HELP

I am creating a form where I have a drop down box with two options. I would the next text box to populate with a certain number if option is selected and to have the user populate the text box if the other option is selected. Help please.

What are the two items in the combo box?
The two itmes in my combo box named style are Domestic and Global
Did you set export values for either of the items? If so, what are they?
I did not set one for Domestic because there are three different value for the suffix, but I did set on for the Global which is XX because Global does not have a suffix
Do you want to allow the user to be able to edit the entry in the text field after you automatically populate it with the number?
What I would like to happen is if the user selects Global the suffix populates with XX, but if they select Domestic they are allowed to input the suffix.
What is the number that you want to automatically populate the text box with?
XX for Global, user populated for Domestic
What is the field name of the text box?

We have recently upgraded our instance from 11.5.9 to 12.0.4 in Windows 2003 server.
We are unable to login to forms after upgrade, however we are able access self service responsibilities without any issues.
We are getting APP-FND-01496 when we access any forms responsibility. We have tried all possible metalink notes with no luck.
Any help to resolve this issue will be appreciated.

This may be an indication that your incoming mail server has started treating all of those messages as SPAM, and is deleting them. Try setting those messages go to an outside e-mail account, submit a test submission of your form, and see what happens. It might at least help in tracking down the problem. If you find that the messages go to an outside account, work with your Postmaster to get the messages coming from FormsCentral whitelisted. It might still be something else, but this is something you can try to narrow the possibilities.

I cannot open some pdf files online with Reader XI (like sample forms in Help section).

I cannot open some pdf files online with Reader XI (like sample forms in Help section or IRS.gov or credit card statements). I have uninstalled Reader XI, cleaned and reinstalled. I have no problem right-clicking and downloading and then viewing the files. No problem viewing acrobat files. I'm runnnig Windows 7, IE9. I can acces them through Chrome.

RESOLVED
I found two suspect programs that were installed within the last 48-hrs that may have caused the problem
1) - Libre Office - latest update. This is a fork of Open Office. (unlikely)
2) - ManyCam video manipulation software (likely)
Following info here, I opted to try to open an Adobe PDF file that was on my hard drive. When I did, it refused and IE10 gave me an ActiveX error (AHA!!). When I checked the installation of ManyCam, it had installed a version of DirectX that may have over-written the resident versions or disabled them somehow.
I uninstalled ManyCam but left Libre Office's update in place, then I ran a system restore from a point 24-hrs before the installations.
This resolved the problem 100%.
So, the suggestion here is that there may be one or more program in the wild that is interupting the ActiveX or DirectX systems. They may be running or installing an older version. In this case it appears the handlers were broken.
Once the system restore had completed I was able to open Adobe PDF files within my IE10 browser from the Internet as well as open PDF files from my hard drive.
Note that this same issue also clearned up a problem I was having with the Comodo Dragon web browser, which is a fork of the Chrome project. Once I eliminated the suspect program and ran the system restore all was well. In the instance of the Comodo browser it was unable to open or reach anything - dead white screen below the menu bar.
So my suggestion would be to take an inventory of recent program installations, remove/uninstall them, run system restore from a date before the suspect programs were added, and see what happens. In my case that fixed the problem.

Forms Online help disappeared

Previously (at least until last week) the Forms Online Help was available here:

but this link results in a 404.
It would be the same as the one shipped with Forms Builder, but it's a little bit hard to post links to my local online help when I want to suggest to use a documented builtin...
Could someone please restore the documentation or at least update the announcement here with the URL where the documentation is located now?

It might have to do with SSL/SSO implementation they put into production recently. Since the forums are on SSL and the new fancy login screen got added the whole forum seems to behave quite unstable. I get the "We are sorry blah blah blah" screen almost every second time I click on a link here in the forums. Hopefully they didn't vaporize the docs permanently as it was a good resource to point to....

Forms 6i help not displayed on Windows 7

Hello to everyone!!
A few days ago have installed Forms and Report 6i on my computer.
Both Forms and Reports are working well, but the only problem I get is that the help (using the F1 key or accessing the help via the menu) is not displayed. The only thing I get to see is a Window error alert without any text.
What must I do to get the "normal" Forms help screens?
I hope that you can help me.

if you can open the forms 6i help but there is nothing display in it
you should locate the file then right click to open it's properties, click Unblock button and try to open help again.

we met the similar situation with you while developing a anpplication form for HR.
our conclustions are:
1. it's not feasible to put all the data into the form, it will make the form too big and slow, so it must be a online interactive form
2. you may put a search field to let the user to input some kind of criteria and do the search on the r3 side and return the hit list on the form , but it's not so easy to develop a table control on the form using javascript to get the selected one.
3. so we built a 'selection screen' , using webdynpro for abap,
it will show up before the form, while can use ddic search help, to make the selection, then put all the selected entries into the adobe form for further processiong.
how this is helpful hint for you.

Install Forms FT Helper Failure

Hi All,
We were finally successful in installing OATS on the same computer in which HP QTP is already installed.
OpenScript records fine when the module is Web .
For a new script when I selected the Oracle EBS/Forms module and tried recording I get the below error upon clicking the Start Recording button.
I think there is some conflict between OATS & QTP.
Any workaround to solve this issue is greatly appreciated.
PS:QTP works fine with Forms applications as before.

I was able to “disable” the HP QTP tool that disallowed OpenScript to function correctly in Oracle EBS/Forms. Here are the steps taken to perform that:
1.     Click on the Start Menu > Right Click on Computer > Click Properties
2.     On the left column, click Advanced system settings
3.     Towards the bottom right of the new window, click Environment Variables
4.     Under the Systems Variable header, we will need to find the following variables: JAVAOPTIONS+, IBM_JAVA_OPTIONS and JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS.
5.     Double click on each one and append ‘+_bak+’ to the end of each (i.e JAVAOPTIONS+ will now be JAVAOPTIONS_bak+).
6.     When finished, click OK on this window
7.     Click Apply and then OK on the next window
8.     Restart OpenScript.
Now we are able to use OpenScript for Forms. This probably breaks QTP for the time being but we will rename these variables back to their original values when QTP is finally installed.
Rationale behind the fix: When QTP was installed, it needed special instructions for the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) in order to properly parse and recognize the Oracle EBS/Forms (which are written in Java). By adding these new variables, you see that they are simply flags that direct the JVM to use HP’s assembler for the JVM (file name: jasmine.jar). By renaming these, we are reverting the JVM back to using the original assembler built in to Java.
I will continue to do further testing to ensure that the changing of these variables haven’t broken anything else but as of now, the problem is resolved and I have regained the ability to record and playback Oracle EBS/Forms.

Forms 6i Help is not working on window7

i am installing Oracle forms/Reports 6i on window 7.
when i am tryring to open the forms help, it opens the window help.
forms help is not working.

Here Abhishek is talking about the Forms 6i Help, not about Forms 10g. And the help shortcut F1 is the default for windows, and its not there in the C:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms\fmrweb.res file.

Report/Form Please help

Hi All,
I need to know if there is a way to show a report with values from multiple tables that links to one form. I have limited experience and need the help.
I have a table (table3 "ProCon") that links two separate tables (table1 "Project" and table2 "Contact") via a unique key. I want to be able to show project name and contact name for user to make sure they are editing correct account when linking over to PROCON table to update or create new. I get errors no matter what I try to do.
This is our first application that we are trying to go live with and this is the only matter that is holding us up.
Help would be extremely appreciated!!!

with those different updates you can address different tables.
Of course you have to store the correct primary keys as items and use them in the where clause of the update statement.
The foreign key constraints will be automatically enforced....
Using the procon linking table is the correct way to implement many-to-many relations in a relational database.
If I look at your table schema, you have O -> C -> ProCon <- P <-SBIR
which is correct from a modeling point of view!
You can create a view which brings all the relevant infos together. About the issue of updateable views within Oracle, you should consult the manual ;-)
If I am facing a similar problem within Apex, I do construct a view for a report which brings all the relevant info together. Within the report I make cells clickable with direction to a form then....
This is maybe not as elegant, but I can use the built-in DML functions then.

Purchase Order Form Personalization Help

I am new to form personalizations and I am trying to create a personalization that will automatically display the "last price paid" in the Price field in a Purchase Order form for an Item once the Item No. is entered. Also once the data is pulled up, they need to be able to edit the 'Price' field to enter the current price.
I am not sure how to setup my form personalization using the SQL view to I have that contains the "last price paid" data. I would really appreciate some help on how to do this in personalizations.

Forms Personalization is a feature of the Oracle Enterprise Business Suite (EBS) not a feature of Oracle Forms. Please post your question in the General EBS Discussion forum. If you have a general Forms question, by all means, ask it here! ;-)

Created an Adobe PDF form via LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2, used the New Form Assistant, prob w/ email

I created a form to be distributed, filled in and emailed back to me for my company.
It has been working fine, but now I need to change the email address where it will be sent when the user clicks the "Submit Form" button. How?
All I need to do is change this email address, everything else is set.
Please help.

My experience is that re-running the Distribute Form does not allow you to change the options you get on first run.
To correct this you need open the PDF in Acrobat Pro and go to Edit > Preferences and select the identity category. The email address can be changed there.
Further, when I ran Distribute Form, it made some other changes to the PDF too, because the Email submit button in my form does not work any longer in Adobe Reader. Clicking it simply prompts to save a local copy of the PDF. The submit still works in Acrobat Pro, but this is useless for a distributed form.
It seems odd that Distribute form make changes to a form which seemingly cannot be undone or further require the use of another product to change.

Instrument I/O Assistant Help - Parsing Errors

Hello All -
I am having trouble working with a TSI DustTrak DRX - which does not have its own driver so I had to make one. At this point, all I want to do is send a command to the instrument and get an indicator to repeat what the output is. So far no luck.
1) I think my driver works. The instrument is connected via ethernet. The instrument has a static IP. In MAX when I look under "Network -Devices" it appears there. "Validate" results in a successful connection. If I click on "Open VISA Test Panel/Input/Output" I am able to enter commands (e.g., rdmn\r returns the instrument number) and "Query" and the correct answer comes up. It should be noted that the number of bytes returned for different commands are different, and also that the measurement data is always of variable length, so I often get the "Timeout expired before operation completed" error. For a simple read instrument number command, the number of bytes is predictable, but for the measurement data, it is not, unfortunately.
2) When I put an "Instrument I/O assistant" on the block diagram of a new VI, and add a "Query and Parse" step with the same command (rdmn - no \r this time), I again get the expected value (or when I query the measurement, rmmeas, I get the expected output string). Again, it should be noted I get the "Timeout expired before operation completed. VISA Status code : bfff0015" error. Once I close then reopen the Instrument I/O Assistant configuration window (though not before) I can parse the data, and the token appears as a potential output of the VI. Here I can declare the output as either String or Number.
a) If I declare the output as a string and create a string idicator, an empty string is returned.
b) If I declare the output as a number (it is "8533", so this should be OK), I get the following error (even without creating an indicator before running): "Error 1 occurred at Scan From String (arg 1) in Untitled 5:Instance:0->Untitled 5 Possible reason(s): LabVIEW: An input parameter is invalid. For example if the input is a path, the path might contain a character not allowed by the OS such as ? or @." I know from MAX that the returned value is actuall 8 bytes: \r\n8533\r\n . So, there are no unallowed characters here. And there are no paths involved - no read/write.
Some other info:
1) If I send start or stop commands to the instrument in MAX or the Instrument IO Assistant, I can get the instrument to turn on/off as it should, so I'm clearly comunicating to the instrument correctly.
2) I get the same behavior if I parse the returned measurement string - \r\n385,0.013,0.014,0.015,0.020,0.035,\r\n from MAX - as a set of numbers (that is, with "Error 1 occurred at Scan From String (arg 1) in Untitled 5:Instance:0->Untitled 5 Possible reason(s): LabVIEW: An input parameter is invalid. For example if the input is a path, the path might contain a character not allowed by the OS such as ? or @.")

Hi James - Thank you very much. I actually found the problem and was able to fix by changing how the output text was parsed - the \r\n in front and back was confusing it - and making sure that I flushed the read buffer after reading, just in case. I also had to modify so that the first character was read and discarded before reading (and using) the rest of the output string.
Now for a rookie question: I've got it set up as a working VI now - how do I declare which variables are inputs and outputs when I put it in another vi?

When I try to PDF print of PDF form INV-1, the subtotal on first page is incorect. becose qty * prise is incorect. qty = 1 but report do: qty = 1000 & all other data in report is incorect.
How i can try to correct this?

First of all sorry of my bad english.
On Page 1 in table on column 12 qty = 1, on Page 2 in first row (a)
Write ОДИН (in russian one or 1), in second row (Б) write ОДНА ТЫСЯЧА (in russian 1000) but it's incorrect.
row (В) = row(a) * price. I need row (B) = 1Price but i have 1000Price.
