Form created in Pro. Unable to save in reader

Hello,
i've created a form in acrobat pro 9 (trial), and in 8 (no trail) which clients have to fill in and send back (pref. by e-maill).
Now i know this is possible with a button. But then the data is send back in xml format and the person who should import it doens't know how to do that.
So: what i want is this. Clients will fill in the form (in reader), they can save the filled in form and send the complete pdf back by e-mail.
Is this possible in reader? (no it isnt....), is there an extra option i need to use? Tell me: how can i arrange this...
Thanks in advance!

You need to enable the feature for people with Reader to save the form.
You'll find the option under the "Advanced" menu in Acrobat Pro.

  • Form Creation in Acrobat X Pro - unable to save as Reader Extended PDF

I am using Acrobat X Pro on the Windows 7 OS. I have created a document in Word (Office 2010), saved it as a PDF and added form fields. When I try to Save As Reader Extended PDF, the options are grayed out. How do I create a form from a Word document that allows all end users to be able to type in the fields, use a digital signature, save a copy and print the PDF with the completed fields?

In create the document in MS Word and save the file. Then I select print, and choose Adobe PDF as my printer to save it as a PDF. I then open the PDF file and select Tools, Forms, to create the form and add fields as needed. After I'm finished, I attempt to "Save As" and try to select Reader Enabled PDF, but the options are grayed out and unavailable.

  • Forms Created in Pro 10 cannot be signed in Reader 11

    Hello,
I have created forms using Adobe Pro 10 with signature fields.  Users who recently were upgraded to Reader 11 can no longer sign the form.  They can enter data into text fields - but when reviewing the form properties it disallows digital signatures.  If I open the form back up in Pro 10 edit mode - i see that all properties are enabled - to include signatures.  I cannot figure out how to modify the forms to allow Reader 11 access to sign.

In order for Reader to apply a digital signature, the document has to be Reader-enabled, either with Acrobat Pro (File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Tools) or LiveCycle Reader Extensions.

  • Form created in ES4 won't save data entered in acrobat readerXI

I have created a large form in Live Cycle Designer ES4. If I save the form as a pdf and open it in Acrobat Reader XI I get the message that I cannot save data entered in the form only print it. All I want to do is to put the form on our web site for people to download, complete, save and e-mail it back to me. I did consider an alternative method which is if I distribute the form and take the distributed pdf and save it locally, when it is opened in Reader you get the submit button on teh purple bar on teh right hand side. This will confuse a lot of our users so if there is a way to not have the submit button then that would work but how do I stop the submit button appearing on the purple bar?

You have to Reader-enable the form. You can do this in Acrobat 11 by opening the form in Acrobat and selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
Reader 11 can save non-enabled AcroForms (forms created in Acrobat), but not non-enabled XFA forms (forms created in LiveCycle Designer).

  • Upgraded to pro X and having issues with form created in pro 9

I created a form in LiveCyle using Pro 9, the form was created for an employer who had to buy Pro X so I was upgraded to Pro X.  Here are the issues I am having, This form was the first time I have ever created a form and I have never used Java Script so there is no scripting involved.
    1) With Pro 9, if I opend the form with adobe instead of LiveCycle I could delete pages.  Now with Pro X I can not however I can delete pages in PDF's that I did not use LiveCycle on.  How do I enable exert, delete, insert, etc....
    2) I was told that with Pro X it was possible to set the form so that when it's emailed back to the employer after being filled out, it could be secure.  I have not been able to figure out how to set that up.  The employer needs to receive the completed PDF as a PDF with the information that was input secure (socials, etc... ).  If I set up an email button the employer receives a list for information and that does not work for them.
    3) The employer would like to have a few fields that they input in the form then secure them or make them read only so the employee can not modify.  I know how to do it design mode but it prevents them from being able to input the information they want (employee number for example).
Java Script is totally foreign to me as I am not an IT person I am a novice computer user that is self taught.  If I am going to have to learn this, can anyone suggest a website or book for beginners?
Thank you for any help you can provide....
    Heather

    Hi Heather,
There are a few things going on.
Firstly, forms that are created in LC Designer are fundementally different to native PDF documents. LC Designer forms are known as XFA Forms and are placed in a PDF wrapper, so that they can be opened in Acrobat/Reader. However a lot of the normally editing options (like deleting pages) that you can perform on a native PDF, you cannot do on an XFA Form.
You can set up the form to be emailed back and there are a number of options. The example here (http://assure.ly/dYQFb4 and http://assure.ly/hM2A5y) looks at the standard Submot by Email button down to custom buttons, depending on the functionality you need/want.
One of the things you need to bear in mind is that for users with Reader to be ble to submit the form back as a PDF, it first needs to be Reader Enabled. This is something you can do in Acrobat before you send out the form, but there are license restrictions. See here . http://assure.ly/etkFNU.
You can set up a solution that locks the fields in the form, prior to submission, but you are getting into scripting. There is an example here: http://assure.ly/yDtfsM.
When it comes to resources... see my recommendations here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4186925#4186925.
    I hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Can Reader users fill out forms created by Pro users?

I want to purchase Pro to send forms to customers and have them be able to electronically fill them out and send htem back, but will they have to have Pro in order to do this?

No, Reader is enough for this purpose, but if they have Reader prior to XI
then you'll need to apply the Extended Reader Rights to the file first,
which has some legal conditions (mainly that you're not allowed to receive
more than 500 submissions of the filled-in file done in Reader).

  • Do typable forms created in Pro, work in Reader?

If I add typable areas in a PDF on a form using Professional, can people using Acrobat Reader still enter information into those fields?

One more good thing to know is that there are limits as to how the enabled PDF's are used. There's a limit of 500 times you can collect data from a form. If this isn't a heavy use form, you'll probably be fine. If it's a form that will be used in a corporate environment, you'll want to study up and understand the User License Agreement before proceeding.
    Good luck.

  • Problem with forms created in Adobe 9 not saving in reader X

We have been using fill in forms I created in Adobe 9 pro and suddenly people were complaining they cannot save the form with their information.  I have discovered that all of those people have acrobat reader X.  I looked for solution and found that original form needs to be saved with "extend features in Adobe reader".  when I did this it seems to have corrected problem.  Does anyone know another way to accomplish without redoing the form? There are many forms and they  have been widely distributed and would be difficult to redistribute. They worked fine with Acrobat reader 9.

In order for a modified form to be saved with any recent version of Adobe Reader, the document has to Reader-enabled, which is done in Acrobat 9 by selecting "Advanced > Extend Feature in Adobe Reader". So if the forms worked with Reader 9, they must have had the rights applied through this process or by LiveCycle Reader Extensions. It would be interesting to see a form that is fillable/saveable with Reader 9 that doesn't work with Reader 10.

  • I am currently having trouble with an attached PDF fill-able form created in Acrobat being non savable in Reader

Hello, I was wondering if you would be able to help me out?
I am having trouble with my attached PDF fill-able form, I am creating a form that has a limit of one page so in order for more room in a certain field I have added a Hyperlink to an additional fill-able(secondary) form within the Parent document (primary fill-able form. The secondary form is inserted as an attachment into the Primary form. My problem is when I open this document up in Adobe Reader, the Primary fill-able form is savable but the attached Secondary form for which the hyperlink leads to is non-savable and is a must print only. Is there a way to make the Secondary form savable as well within the same document? or is there another way I could execute what it is I am trying to achieve?
Trying to save other as extended reader has not worked, also if I save the attachment file as an extended reader first I am unable to attach a return hyperlink back to the Parent document,
Help would be greatly appreciated please and thank you!

I can't say for certain without looking at the actual PDF but it does appear that they created one large text box over multiple lines. For a fillable form it may have been smarter to remove the lines and create a box with smaller text that supports multiple lines.
At any rate, nothing you can do about it with the free Reader (and depending on the security, maybe nothing with Acrobat either.)

  • Unable to save as "Reader Extended" in Acrobat 9.2

    Hello,
I have created a form in Acrobat 9.2. When I save the form and open it in Adobe Reader I can complete the form but I cannot save the completed form, only print.
I need to save the save the form as "Reader Extended" but I cannot find the option when I am saving the form in Acrobat 9.2.
    Any ideas?
    David

It should be under Advanced - Extend User Rights in Adobe Reader... (or
    something similar to that)

  • Unable to save document - Read Only or Open by another user error occurs when PDF is opened from Windows Explorer

Adobe Pro XI  - using Windows 7 Pro OS
When a PDF document is opened from Windows Explorer, and pages are added, deleted, notations made, any type of changes, it cannot be saved until Windows Explorer is fully closed.  If you try to save the document, you receive the following error - "The document could not be saved.  The file may be read-only, or another user may have it opened.  Please save the document with a different name or in a differnt folder. "   I have confirmed the document is not read only, it is not open by another user, and it is not open multiple times.  Once you fully close Windows Explorer, and try to save the document, it saves without a problem.
Are there settings in either Adobe Pro XI or Windows that will allow you to save documents without closing Windows Explorer first?
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.  This error is a frustration since I open all my documents through Windows Explorer.

  • Error while creating task: The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again. (SharePoint 2013)

I get the following error while saving a task inside task list:
"The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again."
I tried restarting "search service host controller".
The server has 8 GB RAM and according to task manager, 6.67 GB is being used.
I logged into the site with user which is the owner of the site. I tried creating tasks from client as well as the SharePoint server itself. Same error is shown in both the cases.
How do I find information on the exact problem that is causing the error? What are possible solutions?

    Hi robikshrestha,
This error message often shows when there is low memory that can be used, the workaround restart the “SharePoint Search Hosting Controller” service is to release some memory, and make it work. Whether restart the service release memory
    in your situation?
Would you please check whether this issue happens all the time in task list, or happens sometimes when the memory is lower to use. If it doesn’t have a large impact, you can restart the server, check the result. have a look at the event
log and ULS log, see whether there is related information.
If it happens all the time, would you please use other browsers, whether the results are same? This may be caused by some add-ons in IE, like Free Download Manager I have seen.

  • Why can't users save data in fillable form created in Adobe Acrobat X Pro?

I have created a fillable pdf form in Adobe Acrobat X Pro and have everything working great.  When I send it to users they can fill in all of the information, but they can not save the data in the form.  I have followed these instructions before I send the form to the users:  (Acrobat Pro) Type in non-fillable forms (File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features.
The form includes text fields, radio buttons, e-signatures (x).
I have researched for days, spoke to countless "Adobe Chat Room Techs" and still have no idea what I am doing wrong.
I am so desperate for help.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I've created a form in LiveCycle Designer & Acrobat X, and saved it.
However, when I open it up with Adobe Reader XI, I get the following message
    What am I doing wrong?
This used to be a relatively simple process, and now I'm completely confused with how I enable saving forms that others have filled out.
If I'm understanding what has been written in this thread previously, this is now normal functionality that doesn't require special settings like it had previously.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Adobe Acrobat form created and emailed but recipient cannot save the form in reader after filling it out

When I purchased Acrobat today, the Adobe sales rep told me I could create fill-in forms that I could email to others, who could fill them out using Adobe Reader.  When the recipient tried to save the completed form, he was unable to save it to his computer, only able to print.  Is this correct, or is there a step we are unaware of?  He owns Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, but I'm using Acrobat 11 (purchased it today).  Acrobat Pro 9 cannot open the forms I sent...  now we are stuck.
    Solutions?

    Hi DMOliver,
Please try saving the form as 'Reader Extended' and check.

  • Pdf form created in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended does not function properly when viewed by Reader

    Hello all-
I have created a form in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and have an issue because when others view the form in Adobe Reader some of the functions do not work- such as the attach a file button I created, or the save, print buttons (all are execute a menu item). These work on my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended but not on Reader.
I have tried saving many different versions- with security (password) and made sure to allow printing and commenting, editing, digital signatures etc...
    Without any security...
Even tried extending features in Adobe Reader!
The response from others is that it all works, except the ATTACH A FILE button- when they click on it it compresses, but, nothing happens!
I don't know what else to do! (I guess people could just attach things to the e-mail that is generated from the submit button, but worried people might forget at that step once they are past that section on the form and they jump to email to submit).
    Help please!
    A.

I've already extended the rights and made sure to save to activate that... as well as password protected the docs etc... still nothing...
I am aware that those with Basic Adobe Reader need rights extended to be able to use functions available to Adobe Pro.
