Form Mac Compatibility

I created a form in Acrobat 8 on a PC that contains calculated fields.  The calculations work fine on PCs, but not on a Mac.  Is this a known compatibility issue?  Is there a fix that will allow the one form to work on both Mac and PC?  Thanks.

Yes. Because They could even print it out if it was not. We keep it a sales program where they download all sales material.
I have our IT guys going to look into the file. We'll see. Thanks

  • Problems with Apple Preview filled forms and compatibility with Windows?

Anyone else having problems with Apple Preview filled out forms and compatibility with Microsoft Windows after Lion?
I've had it happen recently with two different people, where the data I had entered on a fillable PDF form could not be seen by Microsoft Windows, but I saw my data just fine.
I don't know what version of Adobe Acrobat they were running.
    Thanks,
    kt

You will get that first message when the document has been changed in a way that invalidates the internal digital signature that's applied when a document is Reader-enabled. Certain changes are allowed (e.g., filling fields, commenting, signing) and will not invalidate the signature, but others are not. The exact cause of the change is often hard to track down, but it can be due to font problems, some type of file corruption, or something that Acrobat/Reader attempts to correct when the file is opened/saved. You will also get the message if the users system time is not correct and is currently set to some time before the document was Reader-enabled. It seems best to use the most recent version of Acrobat to enabled the documents and recent versions of Reader to work with them.
It problem is probably not related to the user using anything in the Sign pane.

    Upgrade to Leopard
Those wishing to upgrade to Leopard should be aware that install disks can be expensive unless you contact Apple. Details: http://lowendmac.com/deals/best-os-x-leopard-prices.html Standard Leopard installers impose several hardware limitations including speed and RAM size but all these restrictions can be overcome. Google for details. Leopard works well at 500 MHz with 1 GB of RAM and many happy users have less than this.
    Upgrade beyond Leopard
OSs beyond OS X 10.5.8 require an Intel processor. If in doubt check this: Click the apple at the top left of your screen and select 'About this Mac'. This will give you your OS number. Then click 'More Info' to see which processor you have. If it says PowerPC you cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard and above. If you have an Intel Mac it is well worth upgrading to Snow Leopard now and then considering other options after that. You can buy Snow Leopard here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A

  • New to building a PC - former mac guy. Help?

I am looking to build a desktop PC, and I am a former mac guy, I just realize that the cost makes so much sense to build it myself. I have done a little research on some parts and I think I am starting to get somewhere but would like some help or suggestions (of course if someone wants to just publish a wishlist on newegg for me, that'd be great too!).
Budget - I'm hoping for somewhere around 1000, but  I am a bit flexible - of course, the cheaper the better.
Here is what I will be using it for:
    Photo/video editing
    - CS5
    - Avid or Sony Vegas
    Some gaming
    - doesn't have to be Crysis ready, but would like to play some regular Steam games (ie. TF2, Left 4 Dead etc.)
    Some HTPC stuff
    -storage
Here is what I know or would like to use so far
I am fairly certain I want a core i7. Specifically I'm looking at the core i7 950 (3.06GHz) as it seems to be one that many people are fond of.
Also leaning toward the GeForce GTX 460 as a video card. Again because many seem to be using it and it has the CUDA for all my CS5 benefits.
Leaning toward 6-8GB of RAM, preferably DDR3
Also, if possible would like to have a SSD for the OS and programs and a separate drive for all the media storage
This is what I know so far - but again, I'm a complete newb and have never built a PC before (I'm not even sure all the parts I need).
Any suggestions would be great and useful, and as I said, if someone wants to build a wishlist on newegg and then everyone else can pick it apart and fix me up I would be GREATLY appreciative.
Thanks a bunch for all the help!
    -Scott

  • Hand Held GPS Mac Compatibility?

our Mac, OS X? But then, even if there were, the available yummy software that

  • Mp3 players - mac compatability  ? (NOT itunes compatability )

    hi
    i want to buy a cheap mp3 player ...
btw i dont use itunes music store so i dont need any compatability
with itunes buttons and all that.
i want to use it for my audio book collection.
I'm a bit confused about the mp3 player- mac compatability debate.
Seems like when alot of people say mp3 players are bot compatable with macs - what they mean is not compatable with itunes music store downloads.
Am i correct in thinking that all mp3 players can be mounted as external drives and i could drag n drop folders of mp3s - and that this is a universal rule of thumb ?
If this is so, does it not mean that all mp3 players are effectivly compatable with macs ? If it doesnt , then why ?
Thanks for helping me work this out
    d

I think, as you said, it is that they have not written any software to specifically work with the Mac. Also, even if they think it should work with a Mac, in the case of a Mass Storage Device, if they haven't specifically tested their products on the Mac, they are not going to claim any compatibility to avoid angry customers if it turns out to not work as smooth as they assumed.
I use a flash drive, 512MB Sandisk model, and previous used a 128MB Lexar version. In both cases I never really had any trouble using these in Mac and Windows systems and in fact have used the same flash drive in Win 2000, Win ME, Win XP, Mac OS X, and Mac 9.2.2 systems and it works on all of them. It shows up as a removable drive and you can drag and drop to or from the flash drive just like any other drive on the system.
Because I want the flash drive to work on both Windows and Mac systems, I don't format with a Mac format but always use DOS format (as it is called under Mac OS). If formatting on a Windows system, be sure to use Fat32 format rather than NTFS. Mac OS X.3 can read NTFS format, but not write to it. I think Tiger might be able to write to it now, but Fat32 is pretty universal and will work on all the above mentioned operating systems.
My guess is that Sony will work just fine on your Mac.

  • Word double sided printing-mac compatibility or printer issue?

I just installed my HP printer on my macbook. I did all the latest mac requirements by HP for my printer. Now, I would like to print a word document in double sided form. I've gone to PAGE SET UP and all that bit, but it doesn't give me any options to do anything with my pages. Is this a Mac-Microsoft word problem or is my printer not set up properly?? (It prints fine, I just want to change it from one sided paper to two)
PLEASE HELP ASAP! my paper is due soon!

    Which printer do you have?

  • Pdf Email submit - Mac compatibility

I have created a simple form in Windows XP with an email submit button on it. The Mac user can fill the form out, but is not able to submit it by email. Should I expect them to be able to submit this form by email? If not, what options do I have.
    Regards,
    Drew

E-mail submission is not recommended, even if it is discussed in the manual. Such submission depends too much on the client machine setup and you have probably run into that with a MAC. You should always submit form data to a web site for processing. You may need to use the FDF Toolkit or such.
Actually, this remark applies to the mailto that folks try to use for HTML forms also. It is a can of worms and is not recommended even in HTML.

  • Is there Speech to Text Software Capabilities? .... for Adobe Acrobat PDF Fillable Forms - Mac

    Hi,
I hope that someone can help me with this.....
I create forms in InDesign and export to Adobe Acrobat PDF. I create a fillable version in Acrobat so my clients "field therapists" can fill the forms out utilizing their laptops and iPads when on location with client. The forms they fill out, most use the mac, and they are now requesting that the fillable PDF forms have the capability to render text when it is spoken. (Speech to Text) also if written with a stylus pen the want it to render the text in the fields (handwriting to text)
I have researched and have found a company that has software that does this for mac, called dragon, but they said I need to test the software to see if it does what I need it to do with the acrobat pdf.
Has anyone implemented this "speech to text" and "handwriting to text" in any of their Adobe Acrobat PDF fillable forms?
If so, what did you find worked, or what did you find that did not work.
All responses welcome, I am hopeful I can find software that will work with existing mac adobe acrobat fillable PDF forms so I dont have to change the manner in which I am creating my forms for this client.
P.S. FYI, I am not looking for responses that are a response for 508 Compliant forms which is speaking the text, this I do for clients and this I know how to do, it is quite different from "Speech to Text"
Thanks in advance for all responses.

There really is nothing Adobe can do about how non-Adobe software functions. The PDF standard is no longer controlled by Adobe, it's controlled by ISO. Some PDF viewers choose to have no support for forms, some have pretty good support, and some (like Preview) are simply malevolent. There is a lot of non-Adobe software that creates bad PDFs, and a lot that doesn't have nearly the support of Acrobat/Reader. Again, this isn't a problem Adobe can solve.
Regarding, allowing image formats with the buttonImportIcon method and Reader, I know a feature request has been submitted for this. Reader 11 is the first version since Reader 5 that supports this, so I have hope for the future. In the mean time, it's fairly easy nowadays to convert an image to PDF. Even Preview can do it.

  • Hp ipod / mac compatibility

I am a Mac owner (Mac mini, running osx 10.3.9) and recently bought a used HP ipod 20gb click wheel to replace one that was stolen. Its' from ebay and I didn't know that it was hp or that there were compatibility issues.
Bottom line, the drive doesn't show up on the desktop or on itunes. Of course the disk is .exe and that doesn't work either. Is there any workaround that you are aware of? Please advise, even no news or bad news.
    Thanks, Rick

Try this -> Putting iPod into Disk Mode
*I didn't know that it was hp or that there were compatibility issues.*
    There isn't any compatibility issues.
*Of course the disk is .exe*
You just need iTunes. The CD is irrelevant.

  • Solaris Express 11 and Mac compatibility

    Hi all,
I would want to use Solaris with my Mac so I tried to boot on the DVD and install the Developer version, the Mac boot on it correctly and started to install Solaris. But I have a problem with the screen (APPLE 23' with a NVidia 7300GT) when it wants to switch in the window mode, my screen freeze and the system returns to the console mode...
I tried with another screen (samsung 17') and the installation in a window mode worked !
So the problem is the compatibility with the screeen or my graphic card ? (it seems that the 7300GT is not yet supported, it doesn't appear in the listed supported devices report)
how can I do to work with my Apple screen with the high resolution (1920*1200) ?
    thanks a lot...

    Cindy,
Thanks for the quick reply. If I'm understanding correctly, the SCSI unmap command was implemented in last November's Solaris 11.1 release but has since been disabled due to performance problems. I'm running the original November release with no updates so can I assume that SCSI unmap is enabled on my system? If so, do I run any risk of data corruption by staying with my current version? I'm currently running Solaris 11.1 from a SATA SSD.

  • Mac compatibility with Autodesk

    Hello,
As an architecture student, I'm working with programs such as Autodesk Autocad en Autodesk 3D Studio Max. Since my knowledge of these programs is fairly okay, I'm not thinking of switching to other programs. Now I'm planning to buy a Mac Book Pro and I was wondering what about the compatibility with Mac? I know Bootcamp and I know Parallels, and I know these are solutions to run the software on your Mac, but what about the performance? Similar to Pc or faster/slower?
And does anybody know if there is a Mac version of Autocad or 3DS in the pipeline?
    Thanks in advance
ps im not sure this is the correct place to post, so excuse me if i'm wrong

Autodesk does not provide either AutoCAD or 3dsMax anymore. It's AutoCAD Mac version was an R. edition (primary to 2000) and from what I've just looked upon 3dMax v.9 is only Windows based. So, in order to have full compatibility-and save yourself the heavy burden of purchasing again-you'll have to run through BootCamp (or Parallels). The only report I've seen on this is here (and I think it's very good news):http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=500994

  • PC to MAC Compatibility

I am new here but looked at a friend's macbook this weekend and am thinking of getting one.
I need to make sure I can transfer over my word files, powerpoints, and pictures, I know my MP3s can easily be switched over.
How does microsoft office work? Would I have to buy a program for the mac? What about internet? I have a wireless netgear router
    Thanks in advance!

As was mentioned earlier, MS Office files are a breeze with Office 2008 or any number of compatible productivity suites (some free). For the best compatibility you might just want Office 2008 for Mac. Images are generic and pretty much never platform dependent (I can use JPEGs on Macs, PCs, Linux boxes, Unix, etc with no problems). The only exception I can think of is RAW files which are dependent on the camera maker.

Internet access is via ethernet or standard wireless protocols. The only caveat may be in setting up your routers, but most routers I know of use web-based interfaces that aren't dependent on any browser or platform.

  • Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium Mac Compatability

If I purchase Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium (not the CC subscription plan), will it still work on my Mac with future OSX updates (to Yosemite this fall, and future updates beyond that)? Under the compatibility section is says that it will work through 10.9, but I don't want to buy something that won't work if I update my computer.

Nobody can know. That's like asking for a precise weather forecast for next year's holiday. Apple has a mind of its own and simply doesn't care and since CS6 is already several years old now, you can bet that potential compatibility issues won't get better. Either you live with that and are fit enough to deal with these issues or you need to look into other options.

  • Adobe forms supported compatibility with Windows 7?

    Hi all,
I want to know Windows 7 will support adobe interactive forms or not? If yes, what will be the adobe reader version needed and any patch to be updated?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Sathishkumar GS

In my opinion forms should work in any Reader version released for Win 7 (I don´t know which versions are these, because I am still on Vista). I also think that even older versions od Reader should work ok, since there are some compatibility modes in Win 7, aren´t they? I would not worry about the technical side.
