Form Requirements ?
Hi, I have created a Travel Expense form using LiveCycle Designer 7.0. Currently we have Acrobat Standard 6.0 and when you try to open this form (the one I created using 7.0) up it prompts user saying that you need to update to newer version in order to have the form working/view properly. And it automatically updated Acrobat Reader and not Acrobat Standard. With viewer it works fine but I want my users to have SAVE future available. So, my question is now if we update our 6.0 Standard to 7.0 will that allow user to Save this form?
Thanks,
AP
This is a frequently asked question. There are many people that have already asked the same question. If you do a search in this forum with keywords: save form, reader extension server...,you will find many similar questions that had already been answered.
The answer is "no". Even if you update your Acrobat Standard from 6 to 7, your users (who only have Reader) will not able to save the form with data. Unless they have Acrobat Standard/Prof "or" the PDF is "right enabled" by using LiveCycle Reader Extension Server.

Hello
I have a problem with my form, when opened with Adobe Reader Version 9.3.0.148 (included) or higher Reader systematically shows the annoying message "This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader ...".
I work with 3 versions of each form:
1) Dynamic PDF Form XDP: Generated with Adobe Designer ES 8.2, (target version "Acrobat and Adobe Reader 8.0 or later. "
XDP form has no "Warings"
XFA-Template:
2) PDF Form, generated from the XDP form of point 1), using Adobe LC Forms ES2 "renderXDPForm" method.
3) Flatten PDF, generated from the PDF form, resulting in point 2) value, using Adobe LC Assembler ES2.
DDX:
I have generated 3 different PDF rendering, changing only the "target version":
a.1 PDFFormRenderSpec.setAcrobatVersion (AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_6): MyForm-ES-AcroVersion6.pdf.
b.1 PDFFormRenderSpec.setAcrobatVersion (AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_7_0_5): MyForm-ES-AcroVersion7.pdf
c.1 PDFFormRenderSpec.setAcrobatVersion (AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_8): MyForm-ES-AcroVersion8.pdf
Of all that I've created a flat version using Assembler:
a.2: MyForm-ES-AcroVersion6-flatten.pdf
b.2: MyForm-ES-AcroVersion7-flatten.pdf
c.2: MyForm-ES-AcroVersion8-flatten.pdf
Attach all forms of work[zip 4 download].
Well ... I tried to open all forms generated (six) with versions of Adobe Reader from 8.1.0 to 10.0.1.434 X and the findings are that the annoying warning message is displayed only with the flattened forms and from version 9.3 .0.148 (included) or higher.
Table of test, where
OK= No message at open.
Err= Message displayed.
I do not understand or just logical that the most current versions (and higher) Reader is precisely this message to appear at what may be due? What's happening?
Why the message is taught only in the flattened forms?
How I can solve this problem?
Thanks.I do not use the method "renderPDFForm" (at least not explicitly), instead use the "renderXDPForm (...)".
I added the XDP form the zip (I forgot): download from here!
And the only parameter that you can tell this method over the "target" of the resulting PDF is "com.adobe.idp.services.PDFFormRenderSpec. "
/* Common to all generated PDF */
com.adobe.idp.services.PDFFormRenderSpec renderSpec= new com.adobe.idp.services.PDFFormRenderSpec();
renderSpec.setLinearizedPDF(true);
renderSpec.setLocale("es_ES");
renderSpec.setRenderAtClient(RenderAtClient.No);
renderSpec.setCacheEnabled(false);
renderSpec.setStandAlone(true);
/* Target version 8 o superior: Usede ONLY to generate "MyForm-ES-AcroVersion8.pdf" */
renderSpec.setAcrobatVersion(AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_8);
/* Target version 7.0.5 o superior: Usede ONLY to generate "MyForm-ES-AcroVersion7.pdf" */
renderSpec.setAcrobatVersion(AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_7_0_5);
/* Target version 6 o superior: Usede ONLY to generate "MyForm-ES-AcroVersion6.pdf" */
renderSpec.setAcrobatVersion(AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_6);
After this, process PDF forms resulting in Assembler.
I tried also NO explicitly assign the "AcroVersion" ... and in such cases, the resulting AcroVersion indicated corresponds to the time of design (Adobe Designer, File / Form Properties / Default / Target Version), and in such cases the resulting PDF, also displays the warning message.
I do not know if I answered your question.
Any idea? -
PDF Form Requires a newer version of Adobe Reader
New at this...Created my form in Live Cycle 8.0/Professional 8. Throughout company we are using Acrobat Reader 7.0 and are not at this time looking to upgrade. When our users open this form, get "This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader..." and prompts them to upgrade. Is there anyway I can get rid of this message...a way to make my form know that users will be opening in 7.0 and accept without error?
Also, I'm not able to get the Submit to Email button to work...getting "This operation is not permitted"...how can I fix?
Funny thing is I had been able to get the e-mail button to work at one time, but now, all of the sudden, it doesn't want to work...even on my machine which has Live Cycle/Professional 8 loaded?????
Thanks!Geo,
Thanks for the quick response. Tried and received: "This PDF document contains an Adobe XML form. Such files cannot be optimized.
Help...thanks again -
This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe reader !?
Hi there
I use LiveCycle 8 and I design forms for a target audience using Acrobat Reader 7..
My problem is whatever I put in a form, I get a really annoying message when opened in Acrobat reader 7
This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe reader, Without a newer version, the form may be displayed but not work properly etc....
This doesn't inspire confidence for the user.
I get this message even if I open a new form, add a single textfield and save as Acrobat 7 PDF form.
Is there a way around this ?
Thanks
ChrisI am not too sure, I thought that saving as Acrobat 7 pdf,would do that. Is that not the case ? Are you referring to something else ?
Thanks

Can you please provide more assistance for using Application Developer Common Modules responsibility?
Edited by: jemar98 on Aug 9, 2011 1:44 PMA forms developer could make those fields required with a CUSTOM.pll extension if you didn't want to use forms personalization. Both are considered customizations to standard functionality and may or may not require rework after patching or upgrades.

Designer form prompts Reader X error:"This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader"
I have a PDF form that was created using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. PDF version 1.6, so it's good for Reader 7.x and above.
When someone using Adobe Reader X tries to open the form, they get this javascript error message:
"This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader. Without a newer version, the form may be displayed, but it might not work properly. Some form elements might not be visible at all. In an internet connection is available, clicking OK will download and install the latest version."
Is there anything I can do to the form that would make this error message go away? Is this a know issue with Adobe Reader X or Designer?Is there any code running on the form?
Reader X has come out with additional security features that must be disabled to get any PDF form w/code to work.
Open Adobe Reader X --> click on Edit --> Preferences. Under the General Category, uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup" (last checkbox in the dialog box). Click OK and try to open your form. -

I know there are a few other questions like this but I can't seem to find how it's relating to my issue. I am getting the familar failure sending mail: the specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address.mail will not be resent.
in the reports feature of sccm.
I just picked a sample report Compliance 4. I right clicked hit create subscription and input my email into the TO: field. When it runs i get the above error. I checked the email notifcation under configure site components and was able
to successfully send a test message from there but I dont get why it doesnt work on the subscription.
Any Ideas?The log is pretty big so im not sure where I can upload it. I think it would be too big to paste here but I have copied what I think you are looking for in the log and will paste it here. Let me know some place I can send you the full log file
or if you want a different log.

Please suggest me if anyone have idea about this 2 solutions.
Many Thanks,
MithunHi Horst,
well, it was just an experiment to test the list modification after the blog entry was published.
So I did not test it extensively.
However, to answer your question:
I did manage to add two items to a list using the Browser, without any perceived anomalies (no dumps or such).
But that's where I stopped experimenting with this feature.

Oracle Forms requires JRE 1.4.2_06, how do I uninstill newer versions
Hi, The Oracle Forms that we use require JRE 1.4.2_06, they will not run in the most recent version of the JRE. How am I supposed to uninstall the newer versions? I went into the control panel and uninstalled them through there and rebooted, but the directories still exist, the entries in the registry still exist and the version reported in the console is still 1.6.0_05. What else do I need to do?
I sorted this out myself.
Downloaded the latest stable xerces binary (2.5.0) from http://xml.apache.org/dist/xerces-j/
Then I extracted xercesImpl.jar and put it under:
%ORACLE_HOME%\LIB\endorsed
I had to create the endorsed folder as it didn't exist.
Then, when invoking Saxon using java.exe, I added the following switch:
-Djava.endorsed.dirs=%ORACLE_HOME%\LIB\endorsed
That's it.
You can find some background info on:
https://jaxp.dev.java.net/Updating.html
Bye,
Flavio -
Form requires a newer version?
Hi everybody,
i use NWDS 7.2 SP 3 with Adobe Professional 9 (includes Designer 9).
When i start the Designer from my WD4J Context (Menu of the Interactive Forms UI) i get always the message:
The form you are trying to open requires a newer version of this product.
If you open the from, some of the elements may appear but not work properly.
Saving the form may lose some of its data.
But NWDS 7.2 should work with Designer 9, or?
regards,
Sid
Edited by: Sid on Dec 12, 2010 3:35 PMHi Rams,
when you say they cant open the form when its received I assume the below.
an PDF is sent to a user via mail.
when they open the attachment they see a blank grey color screen nothing else if so.
try the below settings on the reader.
Open Adobe reader>edit>preferences.
at the ned of this screen you will find a checkbox: enable protectedmode at start up.
Now if this checkbox is un checked, you can view the pdfs locally, having it unchecked if you try to pdf preview in ADLC it fails.
and the vice versa.
Hope this helps you, if it doesn't resolve you need to check with It team or the Adobe guys for this.
But I faced the issue and this is what the resolution we got froom our IT desk.
Cheers,

What is the available provision of C Form in SD .
My requirement is our project is
All those customers who are eligible for availing concessional CST submit C form either before the supply or after. C forms are valid for the quarterly period of calendar year (Jan to March, April to June, July to Sept & Oct to Dec). C form applicability is linked to the date of invoice.
a. When C forms are required to be submitted in advance: The details of C form will be entered while processing sales order While processing sales order, incase C form is applicable, system should check for availability of form. If C form details are available, delivery order should be processed. Else, the delivery should be put on block.
b. C forms can be submitted at the end of quarter: Some customers are given special approval for submitting the c-forms after the end of each quarter. For such customers, system should allow a grace period of one month from the quarter ending date. In this case, for the current quarter, system should allow creation of sales order, delivery order etc., in the absence of C form submission details. The same should continue for a month into the next quarter. After that, if C form details are not available, sales order/delivery order should be put on block. Eg: A customer who has not submitted C form for the quartet Jan u2013 March should not get supplies from 1st May.
Reports:
Open invoice details i.e., invoice no (commercial / excise), date & invoice amount, quarter-wise and customer-wise for each of the plants.
Is this process available in standard system in SD module to control C u2013 Form tracking.
As far as I know SAP has provided only 1 standard report for C u2013Form Transaction code: J1IUN - Forms tracking
Thanks.without using a Z....??
I dont think this is possible without the help of ABAPer

I've got my form working great thanks to Joe and David (and
others) in
this group.
I want to take it a step further by requiring three fields to
be filled
out. So I found this code to use in my thankyou2.php page:
if (!($frmName && $frmemail && $frmphone))
{echo "You must complete the
form to send it"; } else {
I *thought* that if I used it prior to the code that
processes the rest
of the page, and sends the admin e-mail, all would be swell.
However,
all I get is a blank page.
I'm almost thinking now that maybe the code needs to go on my
contact.php page rather than the thankyou.php page? That way,
the error
message could appear right on the contact page itself?
I'm fairly new to this PHP stuff, so go easy

Completed Form requires Asian Language Pack w/ no visible Asian characters
Why do Reader users receive a notification requiring them to install the "Asian Language Pack" after I fill out a form and send it? The form has no visible Asian characters.
Fonts listed under Document Properties of the completed form are: TimesNewRomanPSMT (TrueType) & TimeNewRomanPS-BoldMT(Embedded) TrueType.
I neglected to mention that the original form (incomplete) does not require the Language Pack. What settings/preferences can be changed in Acrobat to prevent Unicode (or other unwanted Fonts) from being used when completing the form? -
