Has something happened to the form search option? i seems no to be working.

Free form search problem

Hello Experts,
There is a qualifier table in which 'Due Date' is one of the field (of data type Date).
Now, In Data Manager when I try the free form search by entering date in the 'Due Date' field as the filter, it does not show up any records, although there are many records with such date (12/29/2012).
What is going wrong ? Can someone please help ?

Where are you searching these records for this Due Date..?
You will find records corresponding to this date, Please select Main table as you current table in MDM data Manager. In Free-form search you will find this field and there you need to select this 12/31/9999 from calendar. Once you set this you would able to see filter records with this criteria.

Dear Experts,
After upgrading to MDM 5.5 SP1 , i find that i can't do free-form searches on a few fields in a given table .For instance , i have a 'PRODUCTS' table which has fields like 'DESCRIPTION' , 'MANUFACTURER' , 'CATEGORY' , 'PART NUMBER' etc. I find that while using Data manager / JAVA API i get results only when the search field is 'MANUFACTURER' or 'PART NUMBER' whereas for the other two viz.DESCRIPTION' and CATEGORY i don't get any results.

Make sure that the api jar file version matches the MDM Server version.
Remove the old MDM4J jar from the class path.
Add the new MDM4J jar, which matches with the MDM Server version to the Java Build Path.
You can download the new jar from Service Market Place.

I am unable to clear "Form & Search History" because that option is not available. How do I unclick it?

When I close Firefox, I clear everything except the "Form & Search History" which is greyed-out so I can't access it. Also, the options I can choose are not saved by Firefox.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Firefox 8.1 downloaded today. Clearing everything, the Form & Search History will NOT clear. In 8.0 it did. Why now with 8.1?

I mechanically clear EVERYTHING often when browsing. What I'm getting live arrows on for a Clear are:
Browing & Download History
Form & Search History (this is the ONE NOT working, no hot arrow)
Next is Cookies
then Cache
Then Active Logins
Then finishes up with Site Preferences.
IT IS THE FORM 7 SEARCH HISTORY which won't clear using new Firefox 8.1 where in 8.0 it did. Thanks.

There was only one mac-affecting change made in 8.0.1 which involved preventing a crash in the latest Java plugin. No other changes were taken. If you don't have the option to clear Form & Search History, this may be because you don't have any? Another possibility is that you have an extension that's preventing it. Can you go to Help > Troubleshooting information and paste here the extensions section?

Forms Search passing values to Search Site

I want to add a forms search field that takes the user input and launches a new tab or window to the target URL that uses the parsed text as its search value.
The html I wrote is:

Hi Mugdha,
MDM provides two types of searches:
<b>Drilldown Search:</b>
With drilldown search, you can make selections from each search tab, where each tab corresponds to a lookup field in the table
You can also make selections for each of the attributes linked to the selected category, and each of the qualifiers of a qualified table record.
<b>Freeform Search:</b>
With free-form search, you can perform searches on any field that does not lookup its values from a sub table.
Free-form search also allows you to do fuzzy searches with a variety of search operators
It accepts typed values for one or more fields (like a traditional DBMS query form) and a keyword search that can match keywords in any or all of the fields in a table.
At each step along the way, the system narrows down the choice of values for each search dimension to show only those that are valid given the current result set based on the previous search selections.
The result is an extremely flexible and powerful search capability, delivered through an exceptionally smooth and intuitive process.

Multi Block Form Navigation Problem

i have got a multi block form the problem that am facing now is that when running the FORM and when am over one of the my canvases then if i tried to press any of :
(Tab button,Down arrow ) the canvas changes to ANOTHER Datablock ...
i dont know what is the problem ....

Outlook 2010, Exchange 2010 - Searching Problems

Anyone out there able to help with some searching problems some of our users have been seeing?
Searching in OWA works fine but some people have problems when searching for older emails in Outlook. We've rebuilt Outlook profiles, rebuilt the windows index's (which seems to work but only temporarily). If there's a way to schedule the Windows index to
rebuild every night or once week, I'd be very happy to test that out but haven't been able to figure out how to do that.
Anyone have any other ideas?

Hi,
It seems something keeps corrupting the index... Run Anti-virus program and Malicious Software Removal Tool to scan your system, check if there's any virus or malware that may cause the index issue.
If this issue persists, please also go to File tab ->
Options -> Search -> Indexing Options
-> Advanced -> Click Troubleshoot search and indexing, to do some troubleshooting steps to find the possible cause.

The former Search allowed asking for Australian sites only. Is this no longer possible?

If one wants info on Australian gear one needs to see Australian sites. The former Search home page asked if Australian sites only were required. This option does not seem to be available now.

we met the similar situation with you while developing a anpplication form for HR.
our conclustions are:
1. it's not feasible to put all the data into the form, it will make the form too big and slow, so it must be a online interactive form
2. you may put a search field to let the user to input some kind of criteria and do the search on the r3 side and return the hit list on the form , but it's not so easy to develop a table control on the form using javascript to get the selected one.
3. so we built a 'selection screen' , using webdynpro for abap,
it will show up before the form, while can use ddic search help, to make the selection, then put all the selected entries into the adobe form for further processiong.
how this is helpful hint for you.

Forms installation problem - how do I create a new default Oracle home?

I am new to Oracle so please forgive my utter ignorance. My impression of Oracle because of how an installation
has to be done is taking a nosedive. I thought Microsoft was bad with all the re-booting but the explanation that I
read in Anubhav Seth's post about installing Dev 6i before 8i and the suggestion (not a requirement) to format the
harddisk and reinstall Windows just leaves me with my jaw hanging open. I'm having a little trouble swallowing that
one.
Here's my situation... I'm running 8i at home and I am using it for the Oracle courses that I am taking at a local
university. So 8i with its SQL*Plus has been all I have needed to date. Now we have a project to do that involves forms.
So I go to the OTN page for downloads and downloaded file 6irel2nt.exe which is 264 MB in size. This file, I assume,
has forms in it -- what else I don't know because things are not explained all that well on the web site or I don't know
where to look (which implies poor organization of the web pages).
I run the 6irel2nt.exe file and end up with 11,128 new files on my computer. That's nice. I run the setup file and a step or
two into it it complains that my 'Ora81' home is already being used and that I need to install it into another Oracle Home.
Now I'm trying to find out how I create another Oracle Home. I perform a search in GOOGLE on "creat default Oracle
home" and basically get nowhere. My $50+ "Oracle 8i A Beginner's Guide" from Oracle Press mentions Oracle Home
on one page (pg. 170) but is completely useless in this case. My $184 worth of Oracle University manuals (which
are really PowerPoint slides) is useless too. My next step will be to comb through the FAQs. All this because I cannot
believe that I have to totally uninstall one product to get another to install and then reinstall the first one. That is INSANE!
If I have gone way off track please feel free to blast me but if this is true then all I can say is that the folks at Oracle need
a lesson in KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)! Computers and computer software are supposed to make our lives simpler
not complicate the holy hell out of them. I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry about the whining.

I ended up uninstalling 8i and then I installed Dev 6i (Forms) and then I reinstalled 8i. I had some problems
installing Dev 6i because of this error "path.vrf(86): Unbound variable 'path_too_long_prompt'". Right after this error
appears I get a dialog that states, "The Oracle Installer cannot update the system path variable to %new_path%
because it is too long. Please restrict your system path to 127 characters and make sure D:\Oracle\OraWin95\bin
is included in your path."
The path D:\Oracle\OraWin95 was what I set up for this installation.
What I did to work around this problem was this...
(1) Go to Start - Accessories - System Tools - System Information.
(2) Click on the Tools menu
(3) Select System Configuration Utility
(4) Select the Autoexec.bat tab
(5) I added D:\Oracle\OraWin95\bin to my PATH variable and unchecked the checkbox next to one of the several
lines that I have that build my PATH variable. (I have several PATH lines that simply add a path to the system
variable %path%). After the installation is complete you can go back and turn back on the paths that you had disabled.
After installing 8i I did have a problem connecting to the database. I got this error:
Error: ORA-01034 Oracle not available
I believe this happened because I had forgotten to turn back on some of my PATH information that I mentioned
earlier. After checking one of my PATH variables and rebooting, this problem disappeared.
When reinstalling 8i and when the installation asks for an SID and you enter the SID you had used in the original
installation you may get a notice that says the SID already exists. I think this happens because the uninstall does not
clean up the registry totally, so I entered a different one. Later on, after the installation has been completed and you
are connecting to your database, you will be prompted to select an SID -- just make sure that you select the SID from
the latest installation.
I should've mentioned first that in preparing for this whole ridiculous exercise I created a directory under my Oracle
directory that I was going to use as the new 'Oracle home.' So I guess that's all one has to do to create a new Oracle
home -- just have another directory ready to install 'stuff' into.
All in all, this a pretty asinine exercise. Oracle really needs to fix this mess. I honestly thought Microsoft was bad but
this takes the cake. I wonder if SQL Server is this screwed up.

I am unable to delete Form & Search History (it's greyed out as an option to be deleted under the clear recent hisotry tab) help!

my son has used my computer to visit porn websites and I want to delete the Form and Search history so the drop down with these sites is eliminated. The instructions said to go to History > clear recent history and then chose Form and Search history, but it won't allow me to choose this (it's greyed out). How do I do this?

I found this link for a similar problem someone had with a Lotus Notes account. I used it to resolve my issue with a different email account (basically followed the same steps, and then looked for the particular account I needed to delete)... hope it helps!
