Form size increases with F4 help

Hello All,
I am facing a performance issue in an interactive form. We have developed an adobe form and linked it to portal through WebDynpro. We have around 10 fields with F4 help on the screen. We achieved the F4 help with a push button next to the corresponding field on the form and linked the field to the View context in WebDynpro and added dictionary search help.
Tha problem here is- as we go on entering the data by clicking on F4 help, by the time we reach 4th or 5th search help the size of the form increases, as shown in the status bar at the bottom of any webpage, up to 5 or 6 MB and it will take a lot of time to load update the form with the selected value from search help. We have incread the ICM parameter to give user more time to fill the form but this is not a good practice as we know.
Is there a way to improve the performance in this case? Following are details of system:
1. ADS - SP 17
2. NetWeaver 7.0/2004s
3. Already activated "Allow form rendering to be cached on server" in form properties in SFP.
Any inputs will be very helpful.
Thanks,
Anil

Hello Anil,
I don't think that the amount of data Web Dynpro sends to the Adobe Reader increases dramatically - I assume there's a problem with your form / Adobe Reader (what's the Reader version you are using?).
Some users in the forum reported recently that an update of the ZCI script has solved such performance problems.
You could do the following to narrow down the problem:
- analyze the server response times and the amount of data transferred to the browser using a HTTP sniffer (HTTPWatch or fiddlertool): Only the requests containing the name of your Web Dynpro application are of interest.
- If you are using Adobe Reader 8: Watch process AcroRd32.exe with the task manager, esp. the memory consumption.
The following actions could help:
- Update Adobe Reader to the latest version
- Update the ADS and the ZCI script of your form, i.e. update to the latest SAP NetWeaver SP (ABAP + JAVA) and call transaction SFP_ZCI_UPDATE for your form afterwards
- If this doesn't help, you should open an OSS message

  • Form Size issue with multiple Digital Signatures

I have created a form (liveCycle 8) with multiple digital signatures required.  When each user signs the form, that section of the form is locked using collections.  The form is workflow through email after each user signs it.  Each time the user signs and forwards the form, the form's size becomes too large.
How can the form be optimized to compress each time an users signs the form?
    Thank you,
    Lori

    Steve,
After your request to post the form, I wanted to removal some company items like the Logo.  Once I removed the Logo, I found the biggest issue was a Logo image size that was making the file so large.  Once I reduced the image size, the signatures only added 46kb at each signature level.
    Thank you for your help,
    Lori

  • Form Size Increase

    Hi to all;
I created an Adobe Interactive Form for a SAP installation using LiveCycle Designer 8. The form allows the user to upload images using base64 encoding scheme. When the user uploads images filesize increase in a coherent way always being the simple sum of the form w/o images and of the images in base64 format (4/3 of the actual image size).
When an image is uploaded by the server, however, its size is always greater than expected. For example if I merge a form of 160kb and an image of 1mb size the result is 4.9 mb.
Have you got any ideas about that?
Thank you in advance for any of your answers.

    ok,
This form has 2 date fields.
The dates are being displayed as 28-JUL-.
We need to scroll on the date field to see 2005
There is not much space on the record as all cols are close to each other
So,If I can increase form size and then the date field sizes so that the whole date
    can be seen.

  • Form size increases when ADOBE Form moved from DEV to QA

    Hi Gurus,
I have a large PDF ADOBE Form developed in DEV but when I moved this Form to QA environment, I noticed the file size has been Doubled(from 2MB to 4MB). Please note that, this is not an interative Form. Can someone tell me why and how can I fix it. We are emailing this form and 4MB is too large.
    Thanks for your help,

Well, after discussing it with SAP, we are still in the dark and don't know why this problem only occurs to one of our PDF outputs. however, the following might help you to cut some times looking for answers.
1-It started after we changed the values in the Layout properties. We are not sure in which tab. We guess it was  "PREVIEW"
2-After this, every time we made any changes to the Layout, the size was doubled until it became a major problem
3-We contacted SAP for this issue and the respond was "Please refer to following note for installation/patches:
    1176858 / 1356871"
4-We were also asked by ADOBE to download a zip file called "COMMON.zip" and install the COMMON file on our ADS server
5-After installing the COMMON file on our server we were asked to run the ABAP program "FP_CHK_REPORT" on the FORM.
6-The suggestion was to only check mark only common-001when running the ABAP, but we check marked all after found no results with only COMMON-001.
7- check out this link. http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/44/35f874b9d74901e10000000a1553f7/content.htm
8-we did all of the above but we had partial success, it reduced the size fro 7MB to 4MB
9-Finally, we created the same Form from ground up without touching the Layout properties and the size turned up to be around 100KB.

  • File size increase with Camera Raw

I have a bunch of scanned .tif files. If I open them in Photoshop (cs5) then resave them the file size stays the same. If I open them in Camera Raw then "Open Image" to enter Photoshop, the file size doubles (both the size reported by Photoshop and the  file size if I "save as").
    Any idea why this happens?
The .tif files are not compressed. The same thing happens if I go through Lightroom.
    Thanks
    Diane

It's likely you have ACR/LR set to open images as 16 bit rather than 8 bit...

  • PDF  size increase

When I edit an image in PS that I extracted from Acrobat, why does the meg size increase with each edit?

I tried that after posting this question and the size was back at the original size, 19mb. I had extracted an image from an ad, color corrected an area, chose Save in PS, closed the image and watched the pdf in Acrobat refresh itself with the edit. I then chose Save in Acrobat, extracted the image into PS again and did another edit. That's when I saw the mb size increase. I can only do one edit in PS and then I have to save it back into Acrobat. If I try to do several different color corrections in PS and choose Save, a dialogue box opens that asks me what I would like to name this temp pdf that saves into a Temp folder. When I was making an edit, saving in PS and then closing that image to save the pdf as the same name, the mb size increased each time until it was up to 334 mb !  I am using Acrobat 7 Pro and PS CS 5.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Index file increase with no corresponding increase in block numbers or Pag file size

    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and/or can help explain why it is happening....
I have a BSO cube fronted by a Hyperion Planning app, in version 11.1.2.1.000
The cube is in it's infancy, but already contains 24M blocks, with a PAG file size of 12GB.  We expect this to grow fairly rapidly over the next 12 months or so.
After performing a simple Agg of aggregating sparse dimensions, the Index file sits at 1.6GB.
When I then perform a dense restructure, the index file reduces to 0.6GB.  The PAG file remains around 12GB (a minor reduction of 0.4GB occurs).  The number of blocks remains exactly the same.
If I then run the Agg script again, the number of blocks again remains exactly the same, the PAG file increases by about 0.4GB, but the index file size leaps back to 1.6GB.
If I then immediately re-run the Agg script, the # blocks still remains the same, the PAG file increases marginally (less than 0.1GB) and the Index remains exactly the same at 1.6GB.
Subsequent passes of the Agg script have the same effect - a slight increase in the PAG file only.
Performing another dense restructure reverts the Index file to 0.6GB (exactly the same number of bytes as before).
I have tried running the Aggs using parallel calcs, and also as in series (ie single thread) and get exactly the same results.
I figured there must be some kind of fragmentation happening on the Index, but can't think of a way to prove it.  At all stages of the above test, the Average Clustering Ratio remains at 1.00, but I believe this just relates to the data, rather than the Index.
After a bit of research, it seems older versions of Essbase used to suffer from this Index 'leakage', but that it was fixed way before 11.1.2.1.
    I also found the following thread which indicates that the Index tags may be duplicated during a calc to allow a read of the data during the calc;
    http://www.network54.com/Forum/58296/thread/1038502076/1038565646/index+file+size+grows+with+same+data+-
However, even if all the Index tags are duplicated, I would expect the maximum growth of the Index file to be 100%, right?  But I am getting more than 160% growth (1.6GB / 0.6GB).
And what I haven't mentioned is that I am only aggregating a subset of the database, as my Agg script fixes on only certain members of my non-aggregating sparse dimensions (ie only 1 Scenario & Version)
The Index file growth in itself is not a problem.  But the knock-on effect is that calc times increase - if I run back-to-back Aggs as above, the 2nd Agg calc takes 20% longer than the 1st.  And with the expected growth of the model, this will likely get much worse.
Anyone have any explanation as to what is occurring, and how to prevent it...?
Happy to add any other details that might help with troubleshooting, but thought I'd see if I get any bites first.
The only other thing I think worth pointing out at this stage is that we have made the cube Direct I/O for performance reasons. I don't have much prior exposure to Direct I/O so don't know whether this could be contributing to the problem.
    Thanks for reading.

I haven't tried Direct I/O for quite a while, but I never got it to work properly. Not exactly the same issue that you have, but it would spawn tons of .pag files in the past. You might try duplicating your cube, changing it to buffered I/O, and run the same processes and see if it does the same thing.

  • PDF file size grows each time form is saved (with no data changes). Why?

I have an SAP Adobe form (PDF) and we are seeing a difference in the Save behavior between when it is viewed in Adobe Reader vs. the adobe plug-in(?) for Internet Explorer.
When the form is viewed in Internet Explorer, every time the user saves the form the file size grows (even with no data changes in the form - i.e., open the form, hit save).  This is not true if the form is opened in Adobe Reader.
The form in question has multiple pages but the only fields directly bound to the SAP source are a handful of identifiers (e.g., order number) and a dynamic table.  It appears from our testing that the more entries in the table when the form is created, the greater the size increase each time the file is saved.  The table length is not changed after the form is first generated.
Is there a known difference in the behavior of Adobe Reader vs. the browser plug-in which would account for this difference?  Our users have Adobe Reader X installed on their machines.

If this is an XFA form, as opposed to an Acroform, you should ask in the LiveCycle Desiger forum or a more relevant LiveCycle forum.

  • Why are frame sizes increasing after editing with Nik plug-ins?

I’m using the Nik Collection of plug-ins with Aperture, and have discovered that the frame size of the resulting edits always end up larger than the original - sometimes much larger.
The original image starts as 4592 x 3448 but after editing, the longest side of the resulting image is typically over 5000, 6000 or even 7000 pixels.
I recently worked on a cropped image that started at 4138 x 2759 and ended up at 7361 x 4908, after editing with a combination of Dfine, Viveza, Color Efex + Silver Efex.  If I export a version during the editing process, and then carry out futher editing, the frame size increases again.
I’m exporting from Aperture using the TIFF - Original Size (16 bit) setting.
Can anyone tell me what’s going on here?  I’m concerned that the quality of the images is being compromised by the enlargement.
I'm using the latest set of Nik plug-ins, with Aperture 3.2.4 on a MBP running 10.6.8

    Keli
In order to open Aperture in 32-bit mode by default you can right-click on the application icon, select "Get Info" and check the box marked "Open In 32-bit Mode" (or you can continue to run it by default in 64-bit mode and just get forced to re-open the app anytime you need to use plug-ins that can only run in 32-bit mode).
    hope this helps!

  • Problem with Input help inside an adobe interactive forms

    Hi Experts,
I'm currently implementing a Webdynpro ABAP application containing a Interactive forms.
I'm using Adobe Live Cycle Designer 8.0, Acrobat reader 9.2, Internet Explorer 7.0
My problem is that when I click on the "input help" button inside the adobe form, he automatically refresh all the forms UI element with their initial values. Is-it a refresh event included when we pressed the "Input help" button or an other event? How Can I deactivate that action, event?
Because since he automatically refresh my form data I loose the context current values.
    Thanks in advance,
    Louis

strange, but you could compare the version of the zci scripting
in your form in the hierarchy tab there are variables and the ContainerFoundation_JS script --> the first line
// DO NOT MODIFY THE CODE BEYOND THIS POINT - xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx - ContainerFoundation_JS gives you the requested information about the scripting version...have a look at this version...

    perhaps this note helps:
Note 999998 - Analyzing errors with Adobe Integration of Web Dynpro ABAP
    --> for debugging!
A client debug function is available as of SAP NetWeaver Release 7.00 Support Package 19 (or after you implement Note 1287114) and for all Enhancement Packages. Activate this client debug function using the URL parameter "sap-wd-clientDebug=X" (attach it to the URL using "&"). You can then activate the client trace using the key combination <CTRL><ALT><SHIFT>T (move the focus to a Web Dynpro UI element, for example, to an InputField, do NOT move the focus to Adobe Reader). The system opens a new browser window with the trace output. The trace may contain an error entry ("Network Error", and so on). The URL also activates the Adobe document services (ADS) trace. The trace outputs of the ADS are copied to the generated PDF document as an attachment. Open the file "Error.pdf" of the ADS trace: Form errors (for example, script errors) are listed there.

  • How increase font size in PSE 9 help?

Is there any way to increase the font size in PSE 9 help? On my Win7 system it is smaller and more difficult to read than the default fonts used by Windows. Thanks.

If you double click on the saved pdf, it should open in your adobe reader software.
Another thing you can do is from within the Pse9 help is right click on one of the subjects
and choose Open Link in Default Browser and then adjust the size (usually Ctrl+ to enlarge).

I want to unlock it from o2 network size to be used on any network in Romania. right now I can not use this phone on any network in Romania and I would like if possible with your help me to unlock it. model phone is iPhone 4.
I understand that it takes IMEI?
thank you, with great esteem and respect Stan Ionut-Alin from Bucharest Romania
I can someone help me please to use this phone in romania
So the phone is encrypted or locked in england on o2 network

There is NO solution other than already described
O2 locked the iPhone as they subsidised the original price
    when sold new
Therefore ONLY O2 can unlock the iPhone
it is NOTHING to do with Apple they have no authority
    to unlock an iPhone
Apple do NOT lock iPhones ,carriers do
    simple no debate
