Form Version No in 'About this Application' for LOV forms
In forms based on the Template qmstpl65.fmb the p_revision parameter is generated and the version number show up in 'about the Application' form.
Forms based on qmslvt65.fmb does not get the parameter generated (it not in the template), hence UNKNOWN in the version on 'about the Application' form.
Question is , Is this an oversight or is there a problem with showing versions Number on the 'About this Application' form with LOV Forms ???

We did find the KEYWORD expansion supplement and it looks just what we want but had problems with loading it.
I emailed the author over a week ago now and had heard nothing.
Hope you don't mind, but I will give you the details of the problem in the hope you may be able to help.
I have downloaded the 'SCM & Oracle Repository - Bulletin' document on Keyword Expansion and the installation zip file of scripts. Which is to allow us to automatically load the SCM version number into objects on check-in.
When the scripts was run against for repository owner we got an error in jr_keyword.pkb, it is referring to a 'table or view does not exists' called TEMP_LOB which does not exist either on the database or in the scripts.
PROCEDURE expand_keyword_in_file
Has a private PROCEDURE expand_blob
Which has code which refers to the missing table:

Any ideas about the Table in Question anyone.
NOTE: we have recently loaded the Designer Patch for Release 4.3 for 6i.

I recently upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2 and Aperture 2.1.4 will no longer open. I cannot access my photos and I don't want to pay for latest version of Aperture since this application is no longer going to be supported. How can I get my pictures?
If you want just the originals, then you can go into the Aperture library (right click on it and do "show package contents"). Inside is a directory called "Masters" and you can find the original files in a bunch of subfolders.
But... you'll lose all adjustments, keywords, and other information, and just have the files as they were imported originally from the cameras.
Easiest is probably to buy Aperture and update everything, and then migrate to the Photos application down the road if that's what you want. Aperture 3.0 came out in 2010 (five years ago!) so it's not like you've upgraded in a while -
Version number in 'About the Application' with Oracle SCM
We are using Designer 6i with Headstart 6.5. We will be turning on Source Configuration Manager in Designer shortly , but after we go live. Hence we want to set up the P_revision value for displaying version in 'About this Application' form before using SCM, and want to do it so there will be minimal change when SCM Does get turned on.
The Question:
Can someone tell how the SCM version number get loaded into Headstart's p_revision on th forms ???The P_REVISION is just a forms parameters with as default value the version number.
There is no direct link between the version number determined by SCM and this parameter.
However there is Headstart utility which create or update the P_REVISION parameter to a manual supplied value or to the version number as determined by SCM. -
Clicking on "View more information about this update" for 31.5.0 does nothing
I got a pop-up today that Thunderbird 31.5.0 is available. I clicked on "View more information about this update" because that usually takes me to the release notes and I prefer to read about updates and download and install them myself, rather than have the system do it for me. (I do this so I can save previous versions in case I run into a problem with the latest and want to go back.) But when I clicked on "View more information about this update" nothing happened. It didn't switch over to the browser nor start loading the release notes.
About 5-10 minutes after I had clicked on "View more information about this update" a few times (and had manually gone to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/31.5.0/releasenotes/ and downloaded and was in the process of installing the new release), my browser opened up three tabs on that page. I guess it was just a very delayed response.

So you can only upgrade one line. For you to upgrade as well, you will have to wait until your upgrade is available. You can check that at MyVerizon. That's just how it works. All carriers and phone brands are the same. I have to wait until February to upgrade. The only thing you can do to get the new iPhone, is add a new line. But then you're paying for a line you don't need.

How can I change the default application for a content type?
Running a version of Linux, the default application for PDF files is "Use Document Viewer (default)", which appears to be /usr/bin/evince. I'd much prefer to use /usr/bin/okular; how can I change the default. This question is NOT about how to change the function that is automatically applied when I access a link, in this case "Preview in Firefox", but rather to the default application that I can select when I download a file being viewed in Firefox's previewer.
This is real progress, a solution to the problem as posted. The command:
xdg-mime default okularApplication_pdf.desktop application/pdf
makes okular the default.
However when I added okular to the choices for applications in:
* Edit>Preferences>Applications>PDF
the popup box that appears when I click Download on the preview page changed. The pulldown menu that appears next to "Open with" used to have 3 entries:

Now it has only 2:

What do you think of this Design for Multiple Threads

I'm curious to know what you think about this design for a multhreaded app i'm working on.
I have a controller thread that (a.) creates threads and (b.) keeps a reference to threads that it creates (by sticking them in a hashtable along with the generated Id for that thread).
When a created thread completes its job, it decrements the thread counter and removes its reference from the hashtable before it finishes its run method.
Now here's the interesting part in my controller thread i'm creating new threads on the fly with this infinite loop

Question #1: how does garbage collection go about clearing the stack state, and the system- specific data structures that consume memory.
Question #2: in my situation, each worker thread's activity is not as brief as a simple server request. Each thread does a lot work and does a lot of network connections. on average I would say 100 http request - each of which can be easily blocked or delayed significantly. Therefore each worker thread may operate for between 2 - 10 minutes.
Do you think thread pooling is useful in this situation ?

I can say that you can use as many.organisation as you want but there are same parameters to take into consideration.
First,what do you mean by organisation. Group or number of groups?
Second, how many entities has each organisation. Have you the necessary infrastructure (server, cpu power, RAM)to support these calculations.

You can create an Apple ID without a credit card by following this guide exactly: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534. Note that you have to start by downloading a free app, then create the ID.

OK. Following instructions, I've uninstalled the old Flash Player and installed the right one, and videos are now playing. Thanks for pointing me to the other posts on this site. YouTube and other videos are now playing
Some of the videos still play jerkily (they don't stream evenly). A few stream evenly once they've been allowed to buffer fully. (I think I'm using these terrms correctly.) Is this solely caused by low bandwidth, or is there something—an adjustment of some kind—that I can do with Flash Player to have online videos stream evenly, even from the moment I start them?
As I mentioned, to bypass this uneven streaming while watching online, I download the videos and watch them usually using Quicktime Player 7.6.4. Still, they don't always play evenly, but for the most part do.
I've just tested bandwidth and I'm told:
5.63 Bbps Download speed
0.63 Mbps Upload speep

I'm trying to deploy an application to a user group with the option checked for "Automatically upgrade any superseded versions of this application" but it never auto installs.
- The application is set to install to system whether the user is logged on or off.
- We do have user affinity, therefore the user does have a one or more primary devices setup.
- If I run the install manually, it will superseded and install the new application and uninstall the old applications.
- The estimated installtion time minutes is set to 0
- The maxmimum allowed run time is set to 120 minutes.
We're on version SCCM 2012 SP1.
My assumption of how it should work
If the user is logged in or NOT and it's during the maintenance window, it should auto install the application. Maybe I'm wrong.
Here's the scenario.
User JohnDoe has application Viewer 1.0 installed on his machine. He installed this app via the SCCM application catalog. We now need to deploy Viewer 2.0 of this application. I want to ensure when it's deployed it replaces Viewer 1.0 hence
the reason to check the "auto upgrade.."check box.
Here's what happens. In software center, it will pre-downlaod the software and then set the status to "Waiting for next maintenance schedule". The problem is that the status stays like this forever. We do have maintenance windows set
on the device collection that JohnDoe's primary device is part of. Here are our maintenance windows.
- Daily - 9PM to 5AM = 8 hours
- Weekly - Saturday - 12:00AM to 12:00 = 24 hours
- Weekly - Sunday - 12:00AM to 12:00 = 24 hours
Coordinated UTC is not checked.
The business hours in software center are set to 5am to 10pm.
One would assume that it would auto install during the night since we have a big maintenance windows. I checked the ServiceWindowmanager.log and it does seem to show the various maitnenance windows.
Here's what I've tried
- If I make the deployment required, it will install right away regarless of maintenance windows. However, i don't want to use this option because if the user logs in to other machine (e.g. boardroom computer), it will auto install this software.
- If JohnDoe clicks install in Software center or application catalog, it works. There's nothing wrong with the packages. The issue seems to be related with the maintenance windows.
- If I disable the maintenance windows, then it seems to work but only when I'm logged in. It still does not work if I'm logged out. It only kicks off the installation when I login if it's not during the business hour set in software center.
We need the maintenance windows since we don't want windows patching to occur during the day.
- I searched and ran the report to ensure there's not another maintenance windows setup that would prevent this from installing.
Our current workaround
To ensure users are using the latest version, we deploy the application required for a couple of days, then delete that deployment once we reach a high 90%. The problem with that is if some computers are turned off, they would be using the older version
and it will never get upgraded unless the user installs it manually.
Has anyone encountered this? Any other log files I should look at? Anything else I should verify ? I know in SCCM 2012 R2, you can set the maintenance window to only apply this schedule to software update (patching) but that option doesn't seem
to be available in SCCM 2012 SP1.

Re-check your deployment, specially the user experience:
If you've checked the box next to "Software installation", it will install after the deadline has passed and ignores maintenance windows. Change the deployment to required and uncheck that box and the software should be installed according to your
maintenance windows. -

Like I said, if Siri was on the 4, fewer would buy the 4S. Second, the 4 is discontinued to make room for the 4S, so there will be no updates exclusively for the 4. Third, I never trust any reports on the Internet unless it comes directly from the company (in this case, Apple).
