Form won't open in Reader

I just created a new form in LiveCycle and now many people are having problems opening it in Reader.  It works just fine for me and others in my office, but when I send it out to students most of them are getting an error message.  I've designed forms before and never run into an issue.  Help!

Yes...it's the please wait message.  Here's the full thing.

If they click on the file to open it why wouldn't it open in Reader automatically if they have Reader installed?  I had my husband try earlier and he got the same message on our home computer that definitely has Reader.

  • Form won't open - error message

One of my forms won't open saying its either a momentary problem with Acrobat or a connetion error on my end. I am able to open other forms and I am connected to the internet.  I have people who need to use this form asap in another location and they aren't able to open the link either.  Can anyone provide a clue to the issue?
    Thanks.

It's been down since at least 6:30am Pacific, which means Adobe has now wasted an entire workday for many of us that rely on their system. So, since you don't even have "a good handle on the situation" on this, I guess I can just scratch this day and go home early. Guess that planned Monday launch of the 3 last forms for an event I'm running in June gets a nice April "Rain Delay." Worst part about this too is it's not just today that's a loss, I can't even process any form data submitted over the weekend, so I'm effectively 3 days behind now. Luckily, my event is still 6 weeks away (though the dealines for submitting registrations and such are a month or less)... I feel really bad for people that are on end of April or May 1st deadlines - good luck to you guys.
Really Adobe, if you want us to work on line / in the cloud and rely on you to keep our customer's data and be able to access it when WE need it, this is a huge failure on your part. This isn't some 15 or 30 minute hiccup, this is effectively a full wasted day for everyone on the East/Central time zones. A group is running a sister event to mine next year, and has requested info on how we have done what we have - unfortunately for Adobe, I can NOT in good faith recommend they use this unreliable service. This is not the first time forms (or CC) has failed me in the last 6 months, but it HAS been the worst occurance in the last 6 months. "Happy" to hear that you understand how inconvenient this is, but that and a dollar get's me a cup of coffee. I need my customers to be able to submit their data to get MY money and run my event, and I expect many are in the same situation - what's your solution to that loss?

  • Infopath form won't open from a URL, opens fine from form library.

I have built a request process using SharePoint 2007 and InfoPath 2010 and a custom workflow designed in SPD.
Everything works perfectly fine within the form library. However, I would prefer not to have my requestors go to the form library so I created a link to the form template.
The issue is that when i try the URL to the form template, the form opens but throws an error that it cannot retrieve data for the form. This process is and will only be used internally, so
I am having trouble understanding why this is happening.
Error message (company names substituted in URL).
    Form template URL:
    http://security.home.mycompany.com/teams/activedirectory/PSAR/PSARRequests/Forms/template.xsn
    Error returned when opening form.
The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: Access Requestors (An SP List of users)
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred:
Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetObjectIdFromUrl.
The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: RetrieveIDs (A query to retrieve list item ID)
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred:
Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetObjectIdFromUrl.
The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: Workflow History (A query to retrieve workflow data)
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred:
Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetObjectIdFromUrl.
From what i have seen in the past, i would have expected a security pop up before the form opened. I am thinking this may be part of the problem.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

This filler or the client, I don't think it makes much difference. What is puzzling me and is the root of my initial question: Everything works perfectly fine if the user (requestor) goes
to the SharePoint site opens the form library and click on the "New" button. The form opens in the InfoPath client and loads the data connections without issue. The entire process works fine from here and there is no issue.
This issue is, if I send any of the users a direct link to the form template, it opens in the (InfoPath) client as it is supposed to, but will not load the data connection. I get the error
messages stated in my original question stated above. Additionally, I have the option selected to store the data in the form. Once I suppress the error message, the data is not in the form template. There is no problem opening the form, just loading the data
    connection.
I would like to find a solution to this although it is not tragic if I don't. I would rather not have the users (requestors) going directly to the form library if I can help it. It seems strange
to me that this doesn't work because all the users are in the same environment as the SharePoint site. It is only used internally by authenticated users.

  • Can not type on forms on PDF opened with Reader 9.2

When I open a PDF file with a form I need to fill out I get the I beam tool. I click that in the cell I want to type in and I get the blinking curser. When I start typing nothing appears on the form. I even unstalled 9.2 and installed 7 and had the same problem. How can I fix this.

I though It was fillable because the sender of the PDF contacted me to find out why I had not fill out the form and returned it. This is a standard form he sends to many, many people across the country. I told him about my problem with the reader. He indicated that it was my problem. He is going to sent me the form in a different format.

  • PDFs on the net won't open with Reader 8

    Hi
When ever I click on a pdf from the interenet it opens in Acrobat Pro 6 instead of Reader 8 as I want it too and gives the error that Acrobat cant' open it within Internet Explorer even though I have the preferences set up correctly.
How can I get things to open in Reader 8 by default?
    Thanks!
    Melissa

    Melissa,
Adobe doesn't recommend two Acrobat related products on the same Windows
machine. However, if you start Reader first and don't have Acrobat
running your pdfs should open in Reader from your browser.

  • Form won't open in Acrobat X Pro, XI Pro or Reader XI

I am creating a lengthy for which is  now 25 pages. I can work on the form in LiveCycle Designer ES3. However, we cannot open the form in Acrobat X Pro, XI Pro or Reader XI. Any thoughts on why this could be happening? Are there things I can look for in LiveCycle to fix this issue?
    Thanks,
    MDawn

Thanks for your quick response. There is no error message displayed. The round circle spins and the pdf never opens. It also happens in the Preview PDF tab within LiveCycle. I resaved the form and deleted a number of pages and the smaller version works fine. Can an interactive form be too large? Could that be my problem?
I was working on page 20 of 25 pages and I had to End the Program to get out of trying to Preview the form. I'm wondering if something was corrupted.
    Thanks,

  • Pdf file won't open with Reader Touch

I have a new Nokia 2520 , Windows rt 8.1, with Reader Touch, and can't open a pdf file. I have opened other pdfs. And I have opened this file on my laptop. Any suggestions. Just got off the phone with Adobe support and they denied me help because Adobe does not offer help for tablets. Unbelievable. I've noticed the documents I can't open all originiated as a fill in form. Maybebe that has something to do with it. I can open all other pdf type files. Frustrating.  Please help.

Even reinstalling doesn't work with the standard Creative Suite installer. Except for the double-click bug, Acrobat doens't respond to dock-tasks either, like <right-mouse-click> on dock icon and select <quit>.
In this version of Acrobat, the repair function doen't seem to exist anymore. Sadly....
So the problem keeps existing, even with the laterst 10.1.4 version.

  • After iTunes update, email won't send, only receive. Email setup form won't open all the way.

What can I do to get the add email form to open all the way. It won't scroll down enough to let me enter outgoing mail server information. When I forced it by hitting the enter button and blindly fill in each box, it seemed to work; but when I checked my email, I found that I could receive mail but mail wouldn't send. It kept telling me I have the wrong user name or password, and of course I don't. This only started after the latest iTunes upgrade.
The other problem is that I need to set it up as a pop account and the only way I can get that option instead of iMap is to fool it by typing in one wrong letter on my email which I correct when the page comes up giving me both iMap and Pop options.
Anyone else having this scroll problem. It's only on my iPad 2 and no on my iPhone of iPod touch

Hi, please troubleshoot this from running Outlook in Safe Mode, to determine if it is 3rd-party add-ins related.
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
We also suggest you perform a clean boot to troubleshoot this issue:

  • PDF from Bank won't open in Reader X

Only since yesterday am I unable to open a PDF bank statement (while on the bank's website). I am using Firefox but have also tried Internet Explorer and am getting a black screen in both. After several repair attempts followed by reinstallation attempts, all resulting in error messages, I am at my wit's end.
Several months ago I signed up for a trial of the full Adobe Acrobat program but did not proceed with purchase as I do not have much need for this program. While I deleted the trial version I have had nuisance issues with Adobe Reader X ever since, however nothing like described above.

I have tried that and almost any other option I read about. The worst was trying to delete and reinstall the program (just would not work) and to realize that there seems to be an incompatibility  between AR X, FireFox, Internet Explorer and Windows Vista. In desperation I opened Google Chrome, downloaded the program without any snags and was finally able to open and print the documents I needed. A whole day wasted: wished I had thought of Google Chrome sooner!

  • InfoPath form won't open in browser

I've been searching for hours for a solution but I can't get it right..
I've a form library with InfoPath 2010 forms. The forms are browser enabled. Library settings -> display form as webpage.
But when users click on the form, Internet Explorer asks them to open or save the file. He wants to open the form in InfoPath, but I want it to show in the browser!
When I investigate the link, I found this: OpenIn=PreferClient
How can I force to open the forms in the browser?

Sorry, I missed that sentence somehow. :)
In form options of the Form Template XSN itself, under Compatibility make sure Web Browser Form is selected as Form Type.
Aside from that puzzling. If no other option can be found, script to change the property in the link would be a hack option.
I checked a form library I have here and there is no OpenIn property at all.
Can I just confirm you're opening pre-filled forms not creating new ones with this link?

  • Form won't open until SQL Plus finishes querying

We have Dev.6 Forms patch 5a, NT, Oracle 8.0.5.2.1. If I run a query such as select count(*) from a large table and while this is running I run a form from within form builder the runtime of the form will not come up until SQL PLUS 8.0.5.0.0 returns the result of the count(*). The form has no relation what so ever to the base table in the form.
Any ideas why this is so?

Thanks for the suggestions but I don't think I explained the situation correctly.
In sql Plus i write a statement select count(*) from table A in database TEST which would take about 1 minute.
In Forms I am connected to another database TEST2 which is totally unrelated to the database with select running above. The form is a welcome form with a menu and no base tables. When I hit the run button within the form the runtime will not show up until the SQL PLUS session (on another database) has returned its results.
This is NOT normal behaviour, has anyone else experienced this. I only have Developer 6 deployment install and only Net8.
I can open other sessions using TOAD while SQL PLUS is running.
    Baffled....
