Format and configure neew disk for X60S

I have had to replace the original disc as it had become unworkable. The disc checks out ok using HITACHI DRIVE FITNESS TEST but I am having issues getting it recognised. When I boot up the laptop it gets to the following : INITIALIZING AND ESTABLISHING LINK....I then get a message highlighting that it "Cannot boot from any device".
When I enter the BIOS setup and run the HDD Diagnostic program, the utility finds a Hitachi had drive
Is ther a specific utility I have not run that mount s the disc

I want to believe you have found a solution, many days since you posted.
HDD can not be formatted from the BIOS, have you an OS installed?
I would look to change the S-ATA settings in BIOS from AHCI to Compatibility mode, if installation of the OS hangs and a blue screen with error message appears.

p.s i have no experience in apple imac's at all never used before, but im kinda windows nerd so computers i understand but this imac make my insane, cant seem to find any solutions anywhere on the WWW....

Your HD may be crashed, so you probably should use the oringinal install discs to run Apple Hardware Test in extended mode. If error codes appear this confirms a hardware failure. In addition you cannnot repair the HD using Disk Utility from the startup disk, you have to use the origninal Install discs that shipped with the computer or the most up-to-date version of OS X on a disc that you have.

What happens is, I have deployed a Solr Server on a Cloud Service, and the application folder is on E: Drive, but it is only 1.5 GB. I want to increase it, because index content created easily exceeds this limit.

Base on my experience, E drive is the app disk. The apps (application) disk is where your .cspkg is extracted and includes your website, binaries, role host process, startup tasks, web.config, and so on. It is only 1.5G (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/dn197896.aspx
). So I think you didn't worry about its space.

iM, this 12€, is meant as a CONSUMER toy tool.
it supports AVCHD vers1 (=no 1080/60p, no >24Mbps, no 3D).
fingers crossed, we'll see soon some iM/QT/FCPX update for support of AVCHD v2 ........
the main consumer devices are within the specs, iM supports.
using professional equipments makes usage of professional software (FCPX, AP) optional.

Format a windows hard disk for mac

I am trying to format an external windows hard disk for use with my new Mac. I am using Disk Utility. The disk was NTFS formatted, I erased it into HFS+ (mentioning that the operation was done in less than a minute). I tried this many times but it still took the same time. Does not formatting a disk take a long time? Or this is the way it is done in Lion.

Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.app (in Mac OS). Open the app.
Select the disk (choose 'erase' if it its formatted already), and format as 'Mac OS extended (journaled). Click 'format' (or 'erase', depending on which option you are given).

I am trying to setup a POC lab using Hyper-V to demonstrate use case for VDI
I do understand you need to have 2012R2 connection brokers and RDSH servers as part of the VDI deployment.
Coming from a vmware background I have much to learn in this area. I have 4 HS22 blades installed with 2012R2 Datacentre and configured teaming for the management Network. All 4 2012R2 host presented with shared storage from our SAN. On each host there are
6 NIC . 2 is for management / migration ?? and the rest of the 4 Nic is for the VM data network
On the management Teaming Nic, I have setup 2 NIC in independent mode with load balancing Dynamic. The second nic is set as Standby Adapter.
Before I enable the Hyper V role , I would like to find out the best practice for setting up 2012R2 HyperV for VDI ? Do I need a seprate migration network or use the same management teaming Nic ? And Where do use specify in hyper to use this network for
vm migration between host.
In Vsphere we use port group to assign different Vlan for each VMs. You can have multiple Port groups (with vlan id) belongs to a vsphere distributed V switch. Host can be part of the distribute vswitch.
My understanding you have to manually enter the vlan id on each separate vm, there is no drop box to choose the vlan
is there any way we can achieve the similar result in Hyper V.

Here's an example of how I set up my networking for VDI using 2 hosts and a 10Gb connection. This configuration creates the team, the virtual switch with bandwidth mode, adds the different logical networks, sets the VLANs, and assigns the bandwidth
priority for each. You dont see a VLAN associated with the VM Traffic adapter because the switch ports include the VM Traffic Native VLAN for that network.
This is a fairly common setup for sharing the different networks over a 10GB pipe. Also, you don't see our storage network in there due to the way our FCoE is configured. Our FCoE configuration is a separate 10GB connection that uses the switch
to prioritize the bandwidth.

Bigger and faster hard disk for T61 Model 6458-CTO

6I would like to know which is the bigger and faster hard disk that i can buy for a T61 (6458-CTO).
It has a 80Gb hard disk, 5400 rpm and SATA interface (1.5 Gb/s).
Can i buy a SATA II (3 Gb/s, 500Gb and 7200rpm) for this computer?

Does anyone know how or if it is possible to send the stdout and/or stderr to the log4j type of logging? I already capture the stdout and stderr to the flat file. But I would like to timestamp every line to compare and diagnose problems with each application that encounters problems. Each web app is using log4j to their own application log4j log file. When they encounter errors or resource draining problems, I would like to see the container logs and see what was occuring inside the container at around that same time.
Any ideas?

All you need to do is…
1) Connect the drive
2) Launch Disk Utility
3) Select the drive and go to the partition tab
4) Click on Options… and chenge it from MBR to GUID Partition Table
5) Create a partition using MacOS Journalled
6) Apply the change and you should have a Mac drive
