Format Equations for Export to e-pub?

I am using MathType in Pages '09 for export to e-pub.  I am using the Apple supplied template, but the formatting appears in the e-pub document all fouled up.  Can anyone help?
(Design Science refers me to Apple for help, but the Apple support on Pages seems to be tied to my platform, namely a Mac Mini, and I would apparently have to pay for help. Seems a bit harsh as the problem seems to lie with Pages.)

Hi Art,
Yes, I am with Design Science, but I'm not insulted. Do I understand your situation correctly -- it's that the equations are shifted up so that the bottom of the equation is aligned with the bottom of the document's text, right? (After conversion to epub.)
If so, then it's not necessarily any one of the programs in isolation; it may be that they're just not communicating. In the case of MathType with Pages, or MathType with MS Word, the two apps do play nicely together, as long as you're using their native document format. If you save or export to formats like HTML, epub, or even PDF, the formatting may be preserved, but then it may not. It's just that neither of the companies necessarily put the engineering into that particular feature.
I don't have any solution for you at the moment, but I can tell you that Design Science wants to see nice-looking math in e-books as much as anyone. Now that EPUB3 is a standard -- which includes MathML -- that's likely to become a reality sooner rather than later. Why not join the LinkedIn group "Ebooks for Math and Science"?  There are currently over 1,000 members in the group. Maybe someone there will have a tip with what's worked for him or her.

  • Missing Wraptor DCP Format for Export

    Good morning.
I have a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit and a new install of Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1.0 (81) Build.  When opening a previous project from Premiere Pro CC I do not have the Wraptor DCP format for exporting.  If I create a new project and sequence and dump a video file on the timeline and try and export it's still not there.  I checked the plug-ins/common folder and I do have the Wraptor.prm file in there.   I've searched and searched the web and have not seen an issue like this before. I did see something from Oct about it not being supported yet, but I have a second Windows machine (Windows 7 64bit) that I installed PPro on and it's there.  I should note that in Encore (build 8.1.0.122) I'm missing the Cinema System Preset with Wraptor DCP too.  Is there a prerequisite for getting the DCP option that I missed?  I don't remember doing anything special on the other machine for it.  Also, to note, I have uninstalled both and reinstalled to make sure it wasn't a botched install.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

Solved my own issue.  Apparently in the barrage of Windows updates I had not yet grabbed SP1.  Once that downloaded Wraptor DCP was now a selection in both PPro and Encore.  Anyone else that comes across this in Windows 7, make sure you have SP1 installed.

  • Best audio format to embed for export to pdf?

Hello, I was wondering what format for audio file would be best to embed for exporting to pdf. I want to embed the audio file in a button, for playback on mouseover in the exported pdf. Previously, when I had CS3, I actually had to convert my mp3s to avi files, as (believe it or not) that turned out to be the only format that would play back properly with a toolbar in the pdf, and only after I changed the media player (from quicktime to flash) for EACH audio file in the pdf. It was a headache trying to embed hundreds of audio files and I'm just wondering if CS5 has improved.

Steve, that's (if I remember right) why I had to convert my mp3s to avi when I used CS3; because when I played them back in the exported pdf there was no controller-- but there was for avi. The problem I then had was with Acrobat/reader, which had quicktime set as the default player, so when I clicked the button to play the audio (avi) file, the pdf froze. This I solved by changing the default player FOR EACH audio file in the document (there were over 400) to adobe flash player; and because the audio was avi, as you say, a nice controller appeared, which disappeared once the audio finished. This was an OK workaround, if it wasn't for the fact that because I was using the flash player, the interactive pdf couldn't be used by mac users-- which many of the ebook's readers are. D'oh! So now I'm thinking to just stick with the mp3 format, now that Indesign can handle mp3s, and as you say, create buttons for stop and playback; this also solves the problem of having to post-export adjust the player settings for each file, which is not very fun, because when you edit the indesign document for future versions, it's kind of an annoyance to import pages to replace pages in the pdf without replacing the audio files. Anyway. Steve thank you for thinking out the finer details of my issue; I appreciate it and will have a go at making buttons, and let you know how that goes for such an interactive pdf. Thanks also Bob for the reply.

  • What is the best setting for export movie in widescreen format?

Please tell me what is the best setting for exporting movie in Widescreen format?

Like in After effect we use "NTSC D1 Widescreen Square Pixel".,
Carefully examine the codec and pixel dimensions of that output file. That's certainly easy for an experienced VFX person like yourself.
Then carefully look over the presets in FCP to find the same attibutes. You can also use the online help system for FCP and search for "D1"
However, your question remains unanswerable because we don't know how you're getting to the monitor. What are you playing back you AE sequences on that displays them on your LCD? You're assuming we know what you're doing and, I assure you, we do not.

  • How do I export v-card formatted files for use with either Numbers or Excel?

How do I export v-card formatted files for use with either Numbers or Excel?

Did you open Automator and just look around?
Actions are listed in the left pane.
You drag them into the workflow on the right in the order you need to process the items that you want.
If this is a on-off requirement, just make a Workflow. If you plan to use it often, make it an Application.
If you want to select the contacts you want to export, use a get Selected action. You'd then select the contacts in Contacts App before running the workflow.
I'm not on a Mac to take screenshots, so you'll have to look at Automator's help or google for more info.

thats way too vague of a question... best what?  quality? size? playback?
best quality then use high bitrate, small size use low bitrate.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, format for exporting video to web.

On the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 I used the format "H.264" and preset "Apple Ipad 400x224, 16x9, 29.97, 400kbps." That preset isn't available in the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 edition. What would you recommend that would be comparable and good for exporting a one-hour video for use on the web (Vimeo, to be specific)?

    You're in the wrong forum.

  • Fastest file format for Export in Lightroom? [Need quickest lossless workflow.]

I am currently using TIFF 8-bit LZW compression, but its still REALLY slow. About 10 seconds per photo.
I forgot to set the RAW file size in my camera to S-RAW to make it just a bit bigget than the 1080P footage I will later output them to.
I was wondering if there was a file format that was lossless but is quickest to export to from lightroom.?
    Thanks!

9X% of the time is for converting the raw to rgb, and only 0X% for encoding the rgb for final output format. So, the answer to your question is:
there is no fastest format for exporting.
If you want quick lossless exports, the only solution I know of is to adopt a 2-stage pipeline:
    * Apply baseline adjustments to raw (e.g. white-balance, lens corrections, noise reduction, "capture" sharpening), and export 16-bit tiff back to catalog (hopefully, this is only done once, or at least very infrequently).
    * Apply further adjustments to tiff.
The tiff will export faster than the raw, since it has the benefit of starting with already rendered RGB data.
Far from ideal, I know, and personally - I wouldn't bother. But it's the best I got for ya...
If you want quick lossy exports, then use PreviewExporter.

  • What exact file format for exporting AVCHD to HDD of Sony HDR-SR12E (AVCHD) Handycam?

When you are finished editing AVCHD files with Adobe Premiere Elements 11, what is the correct file format for exporting back to the hard drive of the Sony HDR-SR12E handycam?
I used Sony Play Memories software to import AVCHD (.m2Ts) files at 1920x1080i PAL resolution. I tried rendering to several file formats after editing, but the files could not be exported in high definition back to the hard drive of the AVCHD camera.
I WAS able to import files from camera in Play Memories and then export them straight back to camera WITHOUT any editing, but of course you wouldn't bother doing this normally.
I grew to love using Premiere Elements 10 for editing sd footage from my mini dv camera. However,  I've just purchased the AVCHD handycam and expect to receive my newly purchased copy of Premiere Elements 11 in a couple of days.
Can anybody suggest the correct file format to produce for exporting AVCHD footage edited in PE11 originally captured on the Sony HDR-SR12E back to the camera?
    - Regards, Phil

    Phil
Premiere Elements 10 has the Share/Tape (Record to DV). And, even that is for just DV, not HDV. There is no such choice in Premiere Elements 11 and 12.
So, you are going to have to match up the properties of the original with Export settings and try to get the file exported onto the camera's hard drive if that is possible. Does the Sony user guide give instructions for how to import one of your video to its hard drive?
The theory depends on how close you want the export of the edit to match the camera's original. There is no .m2ts file extension in any of the Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD choices. If the .m2ts file extension is a must..
One scheme to get a AVCHD.m2ts 1920 x 1080i25 for your camera's hard drive - lots of ifs
    1. Publish+Share/Disc/AVCHD and burn to folder using presets = H.264 1920 x 1080i PAL Dolby.
(The preset cannot be customized so you will go with the Adobe bitrate.for the preset)
    2. Then go to the folder saved to the computer's hard drive, open the BDMV Folder, then the STREAM Folder of the BDMV Folder, and use the 00000.m2ts file there as your file destined for your camera's hard drive.
If the hard drive will accept ..m2t, then you could use Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = M2T - H.264 1920 x 1080i25 and customize the export settings under the Advanced Tab/Video Tab and Audio Tab.
Please review and then let us know if any of this works for you.
    Thanks.

  • Lyx: No information for exporting the format PDF (pdflatex)

After lyx installation the system prompts me:
    Optional dependencies for lyx
        texlive-latex3: pdf export
So I did install this package, but even then I couldn't find a way to export to pdf.
But not only pdf. PS and DVI is the same:
"No information for exporting the format DVI"
"No information for exporting the format Postscript"
Does anyone have any idea about what's wrong here, how to workaround or better, to fix this?
    Thanks!

LyX works well (I'm using it every day right now), so there is a solution somewhere. Perhaps there is a missing dependency in the package.
Does LaTeX work by itself? i.e. Can you produce a simple DVI file from a minimal LaTeX file?
Start LyX from a terminal command line. Then click on Tools->Reconfigure. Does the output show anything really suspicious missing? You will see a lot of "no"s, but that is okay. You will definitely want to see a "yes" for latex, xdvi, and dvips. If you have never started LyX before, you pretty much have to do this the first time to set up your configuration before anything will work.
Try that much, then post again.

  • WMF format equations available/missing fonts not displayed/alerted

WMF format equations fonts are not displayed in the applications, If any fonts used on that equations is missing in the system the indesign will not show/alert any missing font warring to the user and the substitute fonts replaced automatically for the missing fonts, Because of this the output PDF comes with wrong fonts. How to fix the equation font missing issue in Indesign.
    Your suggestions are welcome.
    Required Details
    Indesign CS5.5
    OC - Windows XMP
    Equation Software : Math type
    Format: WMF

Best practice would be not to use WMF at all in InDesign.
WMF cannot embedd fonts, so the second best practice would be to use a WMF without live text.
Best would be to use ai or pdf files.
What other format can Math Type export?
// I did have a look on Softonic's web site. They write that Math Type can export EPS. Use that!
/// If you have also font embedding problems with EPS take care that you use fonts which allow embedding (not every font does) and put the EPS in the Distiller with some kind of setting without color conversion and make a PDF of it, then use this PDF. The PDF should be dcreated on a computer with the same fonts available which you have used with Math Type.

  • What are the settings for exporting the best possible quality movies?

I'm trying to export movies using imove 11, there are a ton of export setting, im wondering which are the best for exporting top quality movies? assuming file size doesnt matter.

ok so heres what the movie inspector says:
    Format: Photo- JPEG, 1024 x 576, Million Linear PCM, 24 bit little-endian signed integer, 2channels, 44100 Hz
    FPS: 17.80
    Data Rate:9.63 mbit/s
    Current Size:1024 x 576 pixels (actual)
So do i want to somehow duplicate these settings?
The other thing I was thinking about was opening the file in Quicktime and using the "trim" feature to edit it down that way, although its not as neat.  Would this preserve the quality? And would it get rid of the excess footage (which is what I want)? Or would it like keep that footage attached to the file somehow?
    Thanks

  • Best practice for exporting from iMovie '08 to iDVD

I am looking to find out what is the best practice for exporting from iMovie '08 to iDVD. I have read the other postings that give the basic howto (export to Media Browser then select the video in iDVD). However, my question is a little more technical. I have 1080i HD projects. I am interested in burning them to DVD in the best possible quality. What setting should I be using when I publish to Media Browser?
I am wondering about quality loss due to more than one conversion/compression. I suspect that when I export to the Media Browser then this is occurring. If I am not mistaken iMovie is using something like H.264 for this. Then, when I run iDVD I suspect it will it do another conversion/compression, I think to get to MPEG2. Not only could this result in a loss of quality but also it will take extra time. I am interested to know what others think about this.
Finally, I am looking to create DVDs for a lot of video. I am wondering if there are any USB or firewire hardware devices out there that could speed up the compression. I use the Elgato Turbo.264 when I want to encode to H.264 but I wonder if there is something similar for DVD creation.
    Thanks in advance.

the standards for videoDVD are 720x480, and usually mpeg2 encoded..
so, your HiDef project HAS to be 'downsampled' somehow..
I would Export with Qucktime/apple intermediate => which is the 'format' your project is allready, and you avoid any useless 'inbetween encoding'..
iDVD will 'swallow' this huge export file - don't mind: iDVD cares for length, not size.
iDVD will then convert into DVD-standards..
you can 'raise' quality, by using projects <60min - this sets iDVD automatically to highest technical possible bitrate
hint: judge pic quality on a DVDplayer + TV.. not on your computer (DVDs are meant for TVdelivery)

RegardsI'm guessing you're not referring to SQL and PL/SQL then.
Oracle doesn't have a built in procedure for exporting to Excel, so how the data is being ordered is going to depend on the code in that procedure and whoever wrote it. If you need more assistance you need to give us more details of what it's doing.
