Format for an iCal.ics file

I want to make an iCal file, exported from my office database, containing my daily schedule and upload this file to mobilme then to my iPhone. This looks like a text file that I can make from my database but it contains some elements that look unique, like
UID:473B169A-F897-47D1-BD57-917AE29953EC
The rest looks pretty straightforward. Where can I find a description of the file format?
Doug

Hi Doug,
The specifications for the iCalendar .ics file format:
http://www.apps.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2445.html
http://www.apps.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2446.html
http://www.apps.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2447.html
Have fun.

    Hi Babu,
The file format should be same as you want to upload. The sequence of File format should be same communication structure.
    Like,
Initial columns with Characteristics (ex: plant, location, customer, product)
date column (check for data format) (ex: calander)
Last columsn with Key figures (history qty)
    Hope this helps.

  • Creating websites that display iCal (ics) files?

    Hello,
Does anyone have any information about creating webpages that can imbed ics files?
When you publish a calendar from iCal to .Mac, it automatically makes a dynamic website that has an up-to-date version of the calendar that I've created in iCal.
I would like to be able mimic this, but host it on my own site as well as control the asthetic.
    Thanks,
    Dominic

    Hi Dominic, welcome to Discussions
You could try PHP iCalendar if you have PHP running on your server.

  • Which is the better format for message handling - flat files or SOAP?

We have the possibility to specify from our EDI partner how to send messages into XI. We can ask them to send the messages in as SOAP or flat files.
Is there a definite preference for one format over the other? Can somebody advise with reasons?
    BR,
    Tony.

    >>We have the possibility to specify from our EDI partner how to send messages into XI. We can ask them to send the messages in as SOAP or flat files.
I would strongly suggest you go with SOAP rather than File.
Reason : In case of file, the EDI partner will send a file to a machine in your network where FTP server is running and you make your XI server poll the particular folder every 10 min or so. But in case of SOAP, the <b>communication is real time</b>. Your EDI partner can invoke either the SOAP adapter directly or send a SOAP msg directly to Integration Server.
    Just my ideas.

  • Better format for the AppDefinition XML file

    Hello,
We are using CVS as our source control and are having some problems with the merge process on a AppDefinition file. Is there a way to achieve a better-readable format (i.e. shorter lines, better element indentation, perhaps even attributes indentation) for that file?
    Best regards,
    Igor Gorbunov

    Steven,
I'd like to propose an enhancement request that JAG perform the formatting as do other XML wizards in JDeveloper. It is important for situations such as ours where we have a single application definition with over 60 groups. The unformatted app definition XML file is over 4700 lines and it takes JDeveloper over 12 minutes and 40 seconds to reformat it. With multiple developers and frequent commits, this is a bit ponderous.
We've found that all files other than the app definition merge gracefully or allow easy resolution of merge conflicts. The recent JHS blog entry about version control helped us validate our approach, by the way.
If JAG were to perform the formatting, it would also be easier to fix nuances in the app definition editor such as when you change a bound item to an unbound item, the attributename property of the item is sometimes retained and we need to edit the XML file to remove it. (oops, sorry, that should probably be a different entry in this forum)

  • Aperture suddenly displaying "unsupported format" for Nikon D300s RAW files

I am using Aperture 3.1.3 on my iMac 24 with Snow Leopard 10.6.8.   A couple of days ago I applied an update for Aperture RAW files that was in my update list, even though I don't use any of the cameras involved.
After that update Aperture gives me an "unsupported format" error on all my Nikon D300s RAW files. Every RAW file in the library.  I have never had a problem with this at any time over the last 2+ years of using Aperture.
I have tried using time machine and rolling Aperture back to the end of July (my most recent backup) along with rolling back the RAW file plist. I then did a repair permissions, and reimported the photos after this.  I have rebooted numerous times.  All to no avail.  I have not yet tried a library rebuild that would be next if I must.
I use a Referenced library, so I was able to check out individual RAW files with Adobe Camera RAW.   They open fine so there is no file corruption issue.
Any thoughts on what might be happening?  Any other file(s) associated with RAW conversion that I might need to roll back?   I do not see any mention of a problem like this when searching the web or the forum (although I may have missed something by not searching the correct terms).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The raw camera bundle is  /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle
Go to /System/Library/CoreServices with the Finder, locate the the RawCamera.bundle package, select it and then do a File->Get Info on the package. You should have version 3.8.0, that is the latest and the one that you should have downloaded last week. If it is not 3.8.0 stop here and post back what version you do have, something isn't right.
Assuming you have 3.8.0  use the Finder to navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices and then delete the RawCamera.bundle package. The Finder will ask you to authorize the delete.
Then go to Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.7 download and install it. That will put you back to the last CameraRaw update before this one.
See if that fixes your problem.
As always when messing around with system files it is possible to mess things up so make sure you have a good backup before proceeding, And if any of these instructions make you nervous you might want to hold off doing them.
    good luck

  • Best format for importing AVCHD (.mts) files?

After reading a lot of these archives and being a very new Mac user, I think I understand what I have to do here. I have an HD camcorder that records in .mts. I can either directly import from the camera to iMovie (which takes up far too much space) or I can convert the .mts to a different format that takes up lesser space while keeping the original files saved elsewhere.
What I haven't been able to figure out is, what format is going to be the most space efficient? While I would love to have super great HD quality, these are all home movies and primarily I want to be able to view them, edit/merge clips a little for storage, possibly burn to a DVD. Some quality lost in compression is ok with me. I have handbrake and converted to .mp4, but that still seemed to take up a lot of room...about 450 MB for maybe a 1-2 minute clip. There has got to be a better way, I would imagine, that would store better and also be acceptable to iMovie without translating into AIC codec (which I know takes a lot of room). Any thoughts? I am open to other third party conversion tools. I also can use Final Cut Pro if there is a compressed file FCP uses that will be smaller and better.
    Thanks!!

So, I've been playing around with things. I used handbrake to convert the .m2ts into .m4v, and when I unclicked "optimize file", the file stayed at around 32 MB, and the original .m2ts was 27 MB. I also used a VoltaicHD trial to convert (it converted to .mov), and it was 107MB. The quality in iMovie was not too different to my eye, and it looks like the different is 1920x1080 vs 1440x816.
For home movie quality type stuff (and provided I keep original files in the event I ever want to use them), is the handbrake method going to be the smallest I can get? It seems pretty good to me, an extra few MB isn't a big deal...just not sure if I'm totally missing something here. It seems like the .m4v isn't being converted to the AIC, whereas the .mov is. Handbrake is a pain b/c it doesn't seem like I can click on multiple files at once to add to queue, but to save all that space it seems worth it. Tried MPEG streamclip and it doesn't convert .m2ts. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something, because that's a huge difference in storage space.

  • Maxdor OneTouch 4 Plus formatting for windows and Mac files

Is it possible to format/partition a Maxdor OneTouch 4 Plus for accept both Mac and Windows files? If yes, how is it done?

I'll give your suggestion a try - as soon as I can get the program to load. What am I doing wrong? I plugged in the Maxtor per their instructions. My Mac recognizes the icon on my desktop and I can open it. However, the "Mac OneTouch" icon does not open either by double clicking or by choosing "File", "Open". The user's manual opens and i've followed it's instructions as well as gone to the Seagate website and used their installation tutorial. What more should i do before I return the thing?

  • Move iCal .ics files to PC Outlook 2003 Calendar

I recently have been handed a Blackberry at work. UGH. Anyway, here is the deal, i have been using my MAC for the past 2 years for contacts and calendar's. I would ultimately want to be able to sync both my iCal and my Outlook 2003 at the same time. As for now the main thing was to take all my iCal files and import them into my PC Outlook 2003 calendar so that they show up on my blackberry. It seems though that everytime i try it imports sporatic dates and not the whole file. I then get a corrupt file message on my office PC. Any Ideas. This living in a MAC/PC world ***** but it is what it is.
    Thanks

Hey thanks for the Idea. I did go to the BB Site. I picked up this program called Missing Sync for Blackberry. It really works well. I was more concerned about iCal events from the past 2 years i had on my Mac. So with this program... I turn off the wireless off on the calendar on my BB, sync it to my Mac iCal then i turned on the wireless and all the information from my Mac that was now put on my BB was shot back to my work server so now my PC has all the iCal Events. I will do the same with contacts after i clean them up a bit. This program will do tasks as well as notes , photos, music. It was quick and easy to install so now every device is up to date with each other as far as Calendar events go. Here is the link if you wanted to look.
    thanks again.

  • Best file format for PS and Illustrator files to be placed into ID

I'm writing a proposal using InDesign. It will be output to PDF for circulation among the team members; I imagine they will view it on a variety of screens and some will print it out on various desktop printers.
I have a variety of images, all in color, done in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator that need to be placed into the propsal. Sizes range from 5x7 to 2x2. Some are quite complex with fine detail.
I've just viewed the proposal in ID Overprint Preview / High Quality Display. The images don't look great. Lots of ragged lines.
I usually save everything to JPEG with a quality of 80-90...but that is just a habit, I have no reason or justification for this practice.
I'm wondering if I should go back into the original ID, PS and AI files and resave them as something else before and then place them again.
Does anyone have any recommmendations or thoughts to offer?
I'm using CS4 on a MAC. My computer is a little bit underpowered for the project at hand, but I'm willing to put up with a bit of slow performance and lag if it results in a better end product.

Jagged lines is a hallmark of low resolution, not file type, or a lower quality screen preview than you think you are using. Check the Display performace settings again to be sure they really are correct, and if they're set to allow object level settings, you'll need to verify that each object is also set correctly.
Beond that, saving as .jpeg is always destructive. For the web, that's fine, but for print you should never use anything, in my opinion, but the highest quality settings for saving jpegs, and I advise again using jpeg at all. If you image is all raster data (pixels) save as .psd or .tif. If it has live type or other vector content, save as Photoshop PDF. In Illustrator save as .ai or PDF with Illustrator editing capability. If you change the extension of the Photoshop PDFs to PDP they will open in Photoshop instead of Acrobat when you use Edit Original.
As I said, the jaggies are a hallmark of low resolution. We often have people tell us that the file is 300 ppi, but it turns out that's at some very small dimension and the imaga has been scaled up in ID. Both the Links panel and Info panel can show you the resolution information for your images. There will be two numbers, actual and effective. Effective resolution is the only number that matters. For printing on a desktop printer I like to see a minimum of 150 ppi, but you might get away with as low as 90 for a non-critical image. For press 300 ppi would be the rule of thumb, and dropping below 200 is asking for trouble.
How the file looks in ID is not nearly as informative as how a PDF exported from the file looks, or prints. For a high-res image in ID you are still looking at a lower resolution screen preview, not the actual image as it will be output. Export settings that downsample too far or apply too much compression to reduce file size can also turn a good document into a clunker.

  • Source Data file format for FDM

    Hi,
I am new in FDM and have couple of question on data loading.. We are using FDM to load the data in Essbase. Please help me on these-
    Question 1:
In source data file, suppose, we have around 300 account members and around 100 PO numbers. There are multiple 'PO numbers' records for each 'account member'.
As per our requirement, we need to sum up the all values for 'PO number' column for each account.
For example, suppose, we will get data file as below. Here, Important point is, I don't have dimension for 'PO number ' in Essbase. I will get the accounts data corresponding to 'PO number' but there is no dimension in Essbase to store data at 'PO number' level.
Account column PO number Actual Estimated
    A001 P0123_10 10.00 15.00
    A001 P0123_20 20.00 25.00
    A002 P0123_30 30.00 35.00
    A002 P0123_40 40.00 45.00
    A002 P0123_50 50.00 55.00
    A003 P0123_60 60.00 65.00
    A003 P0123_70 70.00 75.00
    A003 P0123_80 80.00 85.00
    and so on
Now we want to sum up the data for each Account member i.e
    Account column Actual Estimated
    A001 30.00 40.00
    A002 120.00 135.00
    and so on ---
As per my understanding, While defining the *'Import format'* for this source data file , we will not consider the column for 'PO number' and will define the mapping with merge option. Hence, multiple record for each account will be accumulated.
Please suggest me on this.. Is my understanding correct or how will handle this type of scenario?
    Question2:
Suppose, we have data for multiple scenarios ( i.e. Actual, Estimated etc) in one excel sheet, which will be used in FDM as a source file? As per admin guide, we have POV for Category and data will be loaded for that selected POV only. In this case, will FDM consider the data for each selected POV scenario or how FDM will function in this case... do we need to have separate files for each scenario...
Please help me to solve these problems...
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mohit Jain

QUESTION1: If you ignore the PO field in the import you will get the accumulating behaviour you describe. Not sure what you mean by using merge in the mapping. The default behaviour of FDM is to accumalate all non-unique lines following the mapping process you don't have to set anything
QUESTION2: Data will only be loaded to the selected Category in the POV if you have data in the file that needs to be targetted at a different scenario you will need a seperate load file containing that data and choose the alternate category in a seperate manual workflow process

  • Audio bug with WAV files: use mp3, not wav for syncing long audio files

    Just a tip:
I've noticed another audio bug in Presenter (including 7.05) but there is a workaround. I often export the audio as a single, long clip from pre-recorded lecture videos, and sync it with the powerpoint slides in Presenter. I've found it easiest to import the long audio file into the first slide, then sync using the Edit Audio window. I find that much easier to use than the Sync audio window.
However, If you use WAV format for the imported audio file, sometimes Presenter will simply refuse to play back anything beyond about 5 minutes into the timeline in the Edit Audio window. Nothing fixes it - restarting, re-importing, etc. However the problem goes away if you save the audio as mp3.

I would recommending posting your question in the Final Cut Pro forum.
Have you tried trashing your preferences?

  • Most efficient video encoding format for Zen: Vis

Howdy everybody, I just bought a Zen Vision: M and am currently playing with all its many features. I want to put movies/tv shows onto it. I've used DVD Decrypter to rip a DVD now I need to change it to something the Zen can play.
Rather than start researching, I thought I'd try the forums first, as I'm sure somebody here knows what I'm looking for.
So my question is: What's the best format for converting such large files like movies? What will result in the smallest file size while still being good for viewing? Also, what program do you recommend to do the converting?
    Thanks!

You can play the file directly from FMS as VOD. Also you can write your own action script publisher which can take input from any device and can stream to FMS but Flash player does not support many functionality like FMLE. It can stream VP6 video only.

  • How do I find my ics files for iCal calendars in Lion?

The migration from mobileme to iCloud destroyed my home calendar.  I'm trying to restore.
The files in /library/calendar have funny names that don't map to home.ics or work.ics.
Where are the local copies of .ics files and how can I restore them in iCal?

    Hi
The .ics files for the different calendars are in "/Users/<username>/Library/Calendars/<ID>.calendar"
In every "<ID>.calendar" directory you find a "Info.plist" file that contains the name of the calendar. You can quick look the Info.plist file to see the name of the calendar.
