Format Legend Numbers

Hi, I want to create a pie chart with data labels expressed in percent and a legend with actual numbers. It seems to me impossible to format the legend numbers in a way that they have a thousands separator if I choose to show the data labels in percent.
What I can do is to show the data label as numbers and format them with thousands separator and then put the number in percent in the legend or both the numbers in percent and the numbers with the thousands separator in the legend. But I need the data labels as percent and the legend only with numbers formatted with a thousand separator.

this is annoying yes.
what you can do as a workaround is:
1) copy the chart
2) paste the chart below the existing one
3) go to the chart expert on chart 1 and turn off the legend
4) on chart 1 change the pie values to percentage
5) now move chart 2 on top of chart 1, right click on chart 2, and choose move to back...resize as necessary

You can get the "+", the "-" and the commas in the custom format menu.
For you colors you need conditional formatting as shown by Wayne.

How to delete a custom format in Numbers 3

I am one of the poor unfortunates that has upgraded to Numbers 3 BIG mistake!!
However does anyone know how to delete a custom format in Numbers 3?
I'm not sure where the custom format came from in the erlier version of numbers. I guess I must have created it for something, I can't remember what.
It now appaers that when I send a Numbers 3 document via email to an Excel format it adds a weird custom format that turns currency into garbage. Once in Excel simply going to format cells and deleting this odd format cures the problem.
If I could find a way of deleting it in Numbers 3, hopefully the problem will go away.
This is far from the only problem I'm having with Numbers 3. It's begining to look like I'll have to abandon Numbers 3 having had to go to the expense of buying a new iPad because Numbers 3 documents (and presumably Pages Keynote etc) no longer work on the original iPad.

Error in Number format with numbers 3.0

Hi.
I have just purchased Apple Numbers 3.0. It's running on a Mac Book Pro Retina on OS X Mavericks
I can't use it at all.
When I enter numbers in the cels it formats the numbers wrong. I'm danish, but run OS X in english with danish region settings.
What happens is that when i for instance write 20 in B3, it autocorrects it to 0020, and then I can't calculate on it.
If i set it to English region it works. But since I'm danish I would expect Apple to respect me using my own language.

Report the bug to Apple with the Numbers > Feedback tool.

That is correct is doesn't. Standardized formatting of phone numbers in the iOS app is more important because it supports contact from a variety of locations (gmail, hotmail, etc.). iCloud doesn't (not directly).

Why the currency format in numbers is very limited into few countries??? I think this is a must have in next update of numbers ..

I was doing a spread sheet for a business proposal to my colleague in Philippines, was very disappointed to know that the currency format in Numbers for Mac is very limited to few countries only...

As Badunit suggests, in Numbers 2.3 you can turn on the preference that shows the full currency list.
Put a value in a cell and then choose Philippine Peso. Save the document. Open the document in Numbers 3.0 (if that is what you are working with) and you will still have access to that currency.
You might go to Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback to let Apple know you need the option to use more currencies in Numbers 3.

Among the things you'll learn from the User Guide:
Conditional formatting can be used to change the style of the text in a cell and/or the fill colour of the cell.
A formula may be used to set the value in a cell. In both cases, the format rule or the formula affects only the cell to which the rule is attached or which contains the formula. Neither values or formats may be 'pushed' onto another cell.

The old Numbers will be on your computer unless you deleted it. Look in a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder. Launch Numbers 2 (Numbers '09) and do what you used to do to create a Custom Cell Format. For example, you might want a nine-digit phone number to appear as (123) 456 789.
Save that document. To protect it from Numbers 3.0, make a copy of that document with a different name. Ensure that both your original Phone Number documents are closed (to protect them from that bully Numbers 3.0). Then Open the copy in Numbers 3.0. The custom format will be listed in Format Inspector > Cell > Data Format
Type a nine-digit number into any cell and format the cell with Format Inspector > Cell > Data Format > Phone Numbers.
Note: copying a cell with Custom Format in Numbers 2 and then pasting into Numbers 3 does not work. The pasted cell ends up as Text, and the Custom Format is not added to the Data Format list.

Format telephone numbers

Can I set up templates for phone numbers using OS X Yosemite as follows:
+ XX (XX) XXXX XXXX
+X (XXX) XXX XXXX
At present phone numbers are logged in a haphazard manner

This issue frustrated me as well until I just found out by accident that putting a dot (.) after any number clears the auto formatting and you can use any custom formatting. Means one needs to format all numbers by hand though. but at least its possible to change from the endless line of numbers without spacing, which is so hard to read. Don't know what synching with iOS does, yet.
Maybe this helps someone else.

Libreoffice Calc crashes when click on "Format cells" - "Numbers"

As the title says, Calc crashes every time when I do right click -> "Format cells" -> "Numbers" for any files (including newly created ones). This is still the case even after I deleted the whole .openoffice.org folder.
I have tried to reinstall all the packages, but the problem continues.
Do others have the same problem, and is there a solution?

The latest libreoffice in extra, on gnome.
I have been trying to find a solution in the forum of openoffice.org. It turns out that this is a longtime issue which have appeared on different versions. Some people solved it by blanking the user profile, but this does not work for me.. Anyway, this does not seem to be a problem of Arch packages, though upgrading to the newest version did make it happen by chance..

Problem: chart-legend (numbers) doesn't copy into Keynote

I have some charts from numbers (imported xls-files) that i want to copy into a keynote-presentation.
The chart can be pasted into the presentation, but the chart-legend never shows up.
I've tried selecting and copying the chart and the chart-legend but that doesn't work. Copying only the chart-legend also doesn't work.
Can somebody help me out here?

when we copy paste without leaving a given program, we use a structure of the clipboard defined by the program itself. This structure gives the ability to copy paste different kinds of objects.

Text formatting in Numbers is not working correctly.

In Numbers on Chrome text formatting is not working correctly, it's almost as if a CSS file is not being loaded. To be precise, when I try to make a cell Bold there is no bolding. I am using Arial as a font. This has been an issue on Mac and Windows. Any ideas?

Do you have the same problem with Safari or Firefox?

How to Format telephone numbers in Adress Book

I want to format all my telephone numbers to an International format as from the UK. Such as +44 #### ### ###. But try as I will to input this into Address Book Phone Preferences under custom nothing happens. The drop box gives three pre-set format and the custom option ~ I can alter the pre-set numbers but not save them, I can also enter a custom set up but it does not save or implement itself.
Strangely the presets work, but not when altered (I have pressed enter to save!)
Can anyone make some 'sane' suggestions as I need to get all telephone numbers in the same +44 format without having to go through everything by hand.

How can I create a Cell Format in Numbers that doesn't display zeroes?

I can't figure this out. I need to view numbers in a column decimal aligned. If the number has trailing digits then all trailing zeros need to be removed up to the number of decimals to display. All remaining trailing zeros need to be hidden (not replaced with a space as a space isn't the same with as a digit). Below is a simple example I hacked in Photoshop. The first column shows the real entered value and the right it's displayed value. Note that the cell in red is showing that the trailing zero has been replaced with nothing but the decimal point is still aligned.

No sign of your photoshopped image, so I'm guessing about what you want here.
Does this resemble what you're looking for?
Column B contains the initial entries (made from the keyboard). I wasn't expecting to see the trailing zeroes retained in these.
All cells in columns C and D contain the formula shown above the table, =B, a simple cell reference to the column B cell on the same row as the formula.
Column C's format is left as the default "Automatic". As can be seen, all trailing zeroes are removed.
Cells in column D have had their format set as shown in the Inspector pane to the right of the table.
The value in these cells is still the same as the value in column B, and that is the value that would be used in any calculations referencing these cells. Formatting affects only the display of the cell contents. What is displayed is the value in the cell, rounded to two decimal places.

Has someone knowlege of how to use Custom Number Format in Numbers V3.0

From Excel to Numbers '09 I worked with Custom Number Format.
Making formats like 60 sec, km/h or m/s².
In the new Version 3.0 it is not under 'Format'/Custom Number Format.
I did not find it! Has someone found a way to do it the old way.
I am working with the German version.

There is no option in Numbers 3.0 for Custom Format. If that is mandatory for your purposes, it is still available in Version 2.3.
