Format of Direct Print is differnt than Print Preview

I currently have a PDF print form that works correctly and has all the scripting working the way it should. When I look at the form in Print Preview and print the form from within preview all headings and formatting works as it has been designed. When I print the form direct, without preview, the formatting changes. Headings show up where they shouldn't based on the form design.
I'm passing the parameters for print preview or direct print to the FP_JOB_OPEN function module in my driver program based on the selection screen.
I'm on a 7.01 release level 6 using designer 8 with GUI version 710 patch level 13.

The issue isn't that I'm trying to hide something on the form.  The issue is that the direct printing of the form doesn't look the same as the form does when you "print preview" the form.
If I print preview then print, the output looks and behaves as designed.  If I bypass the print preview and set the parameters to direct print the format and logic changes.  The output doesn't look the same.
"Direct print" and "print preview - print" are different.

  • Why does single numeral appear in the print dialog rather than a preview of my document?

I'm using a MacBook (late 2008), am running Lion 10.7.3, and changed hard drives recently.  When using Office for Mac 2011 before changing hard drives, I would get this print dialog.
After the switch, I get the following dialog.

That's normal when you're on the Layout view. Change the pulldown from "Layout" to "Copies and Pages".

  • How to print full pathname of print job

    hello,
i am planning on printing 100s of documents of various types (ms word, pdfs, excel files, etc). i am using snow leapord on a new imac, printing to a brother 5370DW laser printer. is there anyway i can setup this system so that when i send a print job to the printer, it includes the filename or (preferably) the full pathname of the file somewhere in the print job?
    thanks.

this is an excellent idea, and there is a cover page option for my printer. i can see it when i bring up a ms word document, and then go to print it. however, i plan to be printing 100s of files by dragging and dropping files into the print queue (rather than printing from an application like ms word which gives me an option to select a cover page when i print something). does anyone know if i can somehow have a cover page printed for each document when i am printing by dragging and dropping lots of documents into a print queue at once?

  • EBS Cheque Format - ETEXT direct to Printer in ASCII

    Hi
With expert assistance from Kevin Woodrow I now have cheque formatting generating ETEXT ASCII output correctly - this to be sent directly to a character printer.
Sending the output ASCII file to the printer with a UNIX lp command gets the ASCII characters correctly formatted onto the printer sized and spaced to fit the pre-printed stationary.
When the same printer is defined as the destination in the Payment Process Profile (many different options tried in printer definition) then the EBS printing sub-system translates the ASCII text into a bit-mapped representation - and sends it to the printer - which prints readable output, but the size and spacing is now changed so that it does not at all fit the pre-printed stationary.
Anyone know how to define a printer as an ASCII TEXT device so that the the ASCII characters generated by XMLP ETEXT are sent directly to the printer with no modification at all?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Prints are darker than what appears on PC screen

    Windows Vista Business OS
    Acer laptop PC
    PSE6
    Good morning.
I'm so hoping that someone has an easy solution to this printing issue.
In PSE6, I've created 85 scrapbook poem pages in the following format:  300 dpi; 12 x 12 size that will be reduced to a print size of 8 x8.
I worked all summer on this project for my 98-year young grandma who is the author of these poems.   Gram is spry and healthy, but given her age, we are both concerned that it will take a long time to remedy the problem - if the only solution to lighten is to go through each layer of all 85 pages and reset the light intensity.  As she says in jest, "time" is really not on her side.  This is our second poem book project - the first was handmade scrapbook poem pages that were printed directly from a UPS copycenter printer.
For this second project, I printed some test copies of a couple of pages on my inkjet Lexmark printer.  Photo quality paper:  the printed copy was much darker than what appeared on the laptop PC screen - details couldn't be distinguished. Lower quality paper:  the printed copy had a faded looking print.
I will be taking the PDF format of the pages to the UPS copycenter, again.  I've been told that the prints can be lightened, however, I'm concerned that the quality of the print will be compromised.
Any easy solutions to resolve this problem?
    Thank you.
    Shinlee

Any suggestions or comments about this topic?  I've been told by the UPS copy center that lightness/darkness modifications can be made from their printer; however my concern is that the print quality will be affected (i.e. lightening will cause a faded look).

  • When printing, how can I spool/process on the printer itself, rather than process the job in Illustrator?

Is this related to setting up a PPD?
We are using an HP Designjet T7100 plotter to print out large wall maps (108"x108") with incredible amounts of detail (about 30 layers, with varying transparency, and everything from mid-sized polygons and lines to thousands of points).  It's an enormous job, I know, but certainly possible.  The workflow involves creating EPS layers, and running them through Distiller to create PDFs which are obviously the map layers.
In the past, we have been successful in printing out high-resolution maps.  We are now experiencing "Out of Memory" errors if we try to print from InDesign, and Illustrator takes well near an hour to process a map.
This morning, we printed a 42x60 map in low-res - the map printed successfully, albeit in about 20 mins.  After printing, I went to the plotter, selected the job from the front panel, and re-printed it from there.  It took 30 seconds to print.
Obviously, the job was already processed on the plotter and that made printing easier.  My question is, is there a way to get the plotter to process jobs rather than Illustrator?  How can I set spooling to be handled directly by the printer?  Illustrator is using 2GB of memory just to process jobs - absolutely ridiculous.
I appreciate any feedback!  Hopefully from Adobe
    Thanks,
    C
EDIT:  I also wonder if this is a network issue?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @kmmo
I read your post about how you are trying to cancel a print job from the printer. I would like to know if you see an "X" on the printer display screen while the print job is in progress, and if so, try pressing the "X" and that should cancel the job.

  • Format Payments (Evergreen): Limiting users to only print 1 copy at a time

    Hey all,
We are running across something that some of you must have experienced in submitting your BIP reports like AP checks.
I want to force the number of copies to 1 when printing a particular job. (Format Payments) which the next step would be "XML Reports Publisher".
Our users are NOT to be allowed to accidentally print more than 1 copy of this job at a time. They are using check stock and I have to keep them from "accidentally" printing too many at one time.
First, I tried simply setting the Concurrent Copies profile to "1" for that responsibility. Not acceptable because the user can override it.
Second, I tried personalizing the form FNDRSRUN but I couldn't keep the copies from being "editable" by the user.
I have an SR open with Oracle and they asked me to first, modify the printer driver:
    Our driver looks like this:
    SRW Driver: PSTPL
    Driver Method: Program
Driver Method Parameters: Spool File (Checked)
    Program Name: FNDPSTAX
    Arguments: -pn$PROFILES$.PRINTER -f$PROFILES$.FILENAME -c1 -Fpasta_pdf_legal.cfg
I would expect only 1 copy to print but when I submit/requests the job for 2 it does in fact print 2. I am stopping/starting the concurrent managers after I change the driver.
Anyone know of a way to restrict the copies to 1 where the user can't change it?
    Thanks,
    AG

    Rownald,
Correct, when I submit the concurrent request with 0, nothing prints, 1, one copy prints, 2, two copies print, etc...
I have tried sending the command from the OS command line and it works up until i try to send in the number of copies by substituting -c with -c2 or -c1. I get an Illegal Option -2" message.
I've tried to personalize the form concurrent request form(FNDRSRUN) but it I can't keep "copies" from being changeable by the user.
Maybe I will have to look into the bursting option.
    Thank you.

  • Can I print to more than one printer from one Mac - at the same time?

    Hi,
I'd like to set up a few printers in order to handle large jobs occasionally. But the print jobs are going to be coming from InDesign which I have on only one of the Macs. Can I do either of these...?
    a) connect more than one printer to a USB hub and send one print job to each of them so they print more or less simultaneously?
    ...or...
    b) connect one printer to each of my 3 other office Macs and send a print job to each of them (via Printer Sharing) from the Mac with InDesign on it, as well as sending a print job to a printer connected directly to that Mac?
I'd hate to have to spring for 3 more licenses for InDesign just to print faster!
    TIA
    Rob

    Item A won't work.
B will work but there will need to be a fair amount of manual involvement.
For example, if you have one file and need multiple copies, and were looking to have each printer printing the same pages simultaneously (load balancing), then you would have to send a print job to each printer (one locally and one to each of the shared printers). There is no provision in OS X to print the file once and have it print on four machines simultaneously. There may well be third-party applications that can do this (there are several for Windows), but OS X client doesn't have this feature out-of-the-box.
I also believe that the 'classes' facility in CUPS (aka print pooling in OS X Server) cannot do load balancing, as it is designed to send the spool file to the first available printer - not every printer in the pool. However, with printer pools, when the first printer is busy printing the next printer would receive the job when you hit the print button again. It is important that the pool consists of the same printers, otherwise you would get variation in the output.
With regards to the three additional licenses, you could print the ID file to pdf, and then the other Mac's could print the pdf...

  • Is it possible to set up a document larger than my printer is able to print in Indesign?

I have a printer that prints no larger than A3 but need to create an A1 document which I will get printed elsewhere.
In changing the page sizes, Indesign only gives me the size options that are compatible with my printer. Is it possible to create a document larger than these sizes?
    Jack

Do you mean the default list of page sizes that appears in the New Document dialog? Well, you are absolutely not limited to just those values. Just type in any width and height in the fields directly below the drop down list.
To quickly get the correct values for A1, select "A3" size -- the Width and Height fields change to the correct values for this -- then type in "*2" in each of the fields and "enter" this using the Tab key, rather than pressing Enter.

Yes, if you are in the week view before pressing print.
Or you can press choose the view from the views drop down in the print dialogue box.

  • How can I create more than one printer queue for a printer

I would like to have more than one "default" setting for my printer.  This is so I can use a 3rd party print utility (fingerprint) to print to a non-airprint printer from my ipad.  The utility prints using the default configuration.  I don't need to get fancy here.  Just "draft B&W' , "normal", and "Color best quality".  If I need something else, I can always email the document to my MacBook.  The utility has something about a virtual printer, but all I could find about that is that it is used for PDF printing and maybe a workflow.
My technology level:  Used to be a programmer,  after a decade of retirement, I can't even program an applescript today.

Not sure what you mean, but if you add "YES" as 9th parameter in your APEX URL your Page is rendered in "PrinterFriendly" Mode.

  • HP 2025/XP: Error Message when printing envelopes wider than long

Is there any way to print envelopes wider than long (e.g., A2 through A7) without getting the error message "Unrecognized Paper" and encountering long cleaning cycles between each envelope.  I prefer not to feed envelopes end-ways as they tend to gather due to the paper layers.  I have had some success in using cut-to-size card stock under the flap (secured with a post-it) to make the printer "think" that the envelope is longer than wide, but this is time-consuming as well.  Thanks for any help.

This seems to be a commercial product. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!
