Format PDF

When printing to a PDF, my helpfile is in a book format, with
page numbers
alternating left and right and similar formatting on the page
headers. How can
I turn this off or otherwise control this format?
The output will most likely be read as a pile of pages
rather than a bound
book.
Also, the file name is in the header and I would prefer the
document name
there.
Thanks for you help!

  • Writing XMP to multiple file formats (PDF, JPEG,  TIFF, etc)

    Hi,
    I am developing a server-side component that embeds XMP data into a file (of various formats) and then provides these files for client download.
    I have been using the XMP toolkit for generating the metadata, however i now have the problem of getting this metadata into the relevant file. I could always develop this myself but it seems like a huge amount of work. So to make my life easier, does anyone know of any toolkits (from adobe or otherwise) that support writing XMP data into different file formats (PDF, JPEG, TIFF, AIFF, MPEG etc) ??
    I am developing in Java so I would prefer Java libraries, however I can always use JNI calls to C/C++ (as i have with the XMP toolkit).
    Any help would be very appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jude

    Greetings,
    I think we should standardize some information, I know for a fack, that I will support adding XMP metadata in the HDF, RIFF, IFF and OLE file formats. If you have any specific suggestions on the chunk information or signature information that I should use, let me know?
    For my part, I was thinking of adding RIFF,IFF chunks with the name \ xmp in those file formats. For OLE, maybe an added stream with the xmp name (in UTF-16).
    Comments welcome everyone!

  • Cfdocument format = PDF - does not format correctly

    Greetings
    I am simply attempting to print invoices from a query that displays correctly on the cfm result page, but using cfdocument to render a PDF version (to mail out) does not format even remotely close to the cfm page.
    I tried every conceivable method I know of, including:
    Formating the cfm page (via CSS and hardcoded table width) to be 612 px X 792 px (8.5 X 11 in), and here is the cfdocument code:
    <cfdocument
    format="pdf"
    pageType="custom"
    unit="in"
    marginbottom="0.75"
    marginleft="0.75"
    marginright="0.75"
    margintop="0.75"
    pageHeight="11"
    pageWidth="8.5"
    mimeType="text/html"
    fontembed="yes"
    orientation="portrait">
    <style type="text/css">
    @import url(css/moorings.css);
    </style>
    <html> blah blah </html>
    </cfdocument>
    The rendered PDF file is 4.5 X 5 in- (both in IE and Firefox) What am I missing here?
    CF 9
    Thanks in advance, as always.

    Well, in answer to my own question, the solution is in the CSS, using tables and CSS:
    set table height and width to 100%
    set font-size:100%;
    set header font, bolder, larger :125%;, etc.
    Also using the cfdocument attributes as shown in the posting
    The PDF now prints correctly, margins are perfect.
    Now I have to figure out how to loop through the 900+ records, convert each to a PDF and print one copy of each-
    Anyone?
    Thanks....

  • Not ABle to Open Latest Format PDF's in LION (10.7.2)

    When I get the latest Adobe format PDF's (like used by Fidelity Investments), I get the following when I try to either view or open in Lion:
    "If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document."
    The only option is for me to install Adobe Reader which I have never had to do before.

    Somehow you've retained an old version of Addressbook (version 5.0.3).  The current version is 6.1
    Look in the apps folder to see if you have the current version, the dock icon may be pointing to the old version.

  • How I can open a file in format PDF

    I need to open a file in format PDF from my application on Studio Creator.
    I already tried this:
    //code
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("gpdf file.pdf");
    //code
    where gpdf is a pdf viewer on Linux.
    But it did nothing.
    Is there any way to do this?
    Can anyone help me, please!!!!?????
    Thanks!!

    Hi
    Copy the pdf file to the resources directory of your web application. Drag a hyperlink component on to your page (say Page1.jsp) and change value of the hyperlink from http://www.sun.com/jscreator to resources/file.pdf
    Run the application now and click on the hyperlink. Now the browser will open the pdf file.
    Hope this helps.

  • Dashboard print options - PDF / GoURL Action=print&Format=PDF

    The dashboard print option ("Printer Friendly") is nothing but a GoURL call with Action=print and Format=PDF (in the case of PDF of course). So far so obvious.
    But does anyone know if we can interact with this in a more detailled way? I.e.: changing the pdf to be built in landscape format? And does anyone know which engine is actually used to create the pdf?
    Cheers,
    Christi@n

    Hello Christi@n,
    Only one little thing about landscape...
    Edit dashboard and after pages, is a button 'PDF and print control', There you can set Size (A4) , orientation, header + footer...

  • Photoshop File Formats.pdf .... where is it?

    Hello
    I am looking at the API documentation, and it refers to an external file called Photoshop File Formats.pdf. Since I wanted to read and write PSD files, rather than actually interfacing with Photoshop, I think I may just want to use this document as a resource to do this.
    Anyone know where this document can be found?
    Thanks
    n8

    Click on "Get access to Photoshop SDK" on the following web site http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/photoshop/devcenter.html
    Then ask specifically for the "file formats document" and that you want to read and write PSD files in your application.

    Hi,
    Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer the response data to PDF format using FormsCentral.
    As a workaround, you may distribute the form as PDF attachment and have the users sent it back to you after completion.
    Select the form- Distribute- PDF form- Download- Send it as pdf attachment
    Note:- If you want to check the responses in FormsCentral, please check- Add submit button
    Please let us know if this answers your question, we will be glad to assist you further

    Quand vous parlez de fond transparent, dans quel cadre l'importez vous ?

    Karolus

    A first guess is that it has to be something other than the attribute, format = "PDF", as that is frequently trodden ground. To debug this, start with the following, simpler code:
    <cfdocument
        format = "PDF"
        backgroundVisible = "no"
        filename = "test.pdf"> Some text </cfdocument>
    If it fails, then the likely cause is that Coldfusion is unable to access the directory /CFIDE/scripts/. If works, then continue adding attributes, one by one, and testing.

  • Creating a nicely formatted PDF output, suggestions/stratigies?

    I really wanted to call this "Stupid Questions 101", but figured this was probably a better thread title.
    I think this is going to rather long, as I have many variables and other considerations, so let me start off trying to explain.
    I finally have my application pretty much finished (at least the initial version, have to see what users say). Now, I also need to add the capability for a nicely formatted report that's rather complicated, preferably as a PDF file. The final result needs to look like pages from a book (different fonts, lots of whitespace, left, right and center alignement, etc.) instead of a standard report layout.
    So first, I have about 30 tables (views actually). For this application, I need to produce a report that goes through all of the views and 'dumps' all of the information in each table for whatever 'parent' record the user wants. There's going to be lots of looping, and I have the typical parent - child - grandchild relationships, so when I'm printing the child record, before progressing to the next child record, I also need to print all of the assosciated grandchild records.
    A couple views can be simply output in one line, like the simple report format. Most views though need to formatted across multiple lines, like a form. Many fields will also need to be wrapped across multiple lines, adding to the whitespace and indenting problem.
    All together, I have around 300 fields or so that I need output, so as I understand it, ApEx itself can't handle this as a web page (besides all the various looping problems, but also the 100 'item' limit), so I'm thinking that I'll need to create a page with a PL/SQL region and write a package (with all of the views getting their own procedure), that will go through all of the looping etc. I'll need for the 'dump'.
    So, I'm wondering which is the best approach to take on this, I don't think I can use a PSP page to accomplish this, so I think I just need to use the web toolkit.
    1. Should I start my PL/SQL region off with the "pre" tag, so my 'layout' stays intact?
    2. I'll also need to print my field 'labels' in bold, so will the "pre" tag interfere with that?
    3. Will it be easier to place the htp.p statements in my package's procedures, or just write the package with the htp.p statements and add those with the PL/SQL region on the page? (But then I'll need to use dbms.output to send the data to the region won't I?)
    4. Since this will wind up (hopefully) as a nicely formatted region on the page (with lots of whitespace, etc.), will the FOP package allow me to create it (just the region, not the entire page) as a PDF, or does the FOP package only work with standard ApEx 'reports'?
    5. Am I way off base here, or is there a better aproach I'm missing? I really need to try and keep everything free (otherwise I'd consider PL/PDF), as being in the government, money is usually pretty tight, we usually only have money just for our salaries and office space.
    Like I said above, pretty stupid questions, but I haven't used the web toolkit in about 7 years or so, being tied up with merging two database and cleaning up the data from one of them (it had no data validation or integrity constraints at all, everything was a free-form field, like a giant spreadsheet).
    Thanks for any suggestions on how to best tackle this next stage of my problem.
    Of to start experimenting some.
    Bill Ferguson

    For anybody following this, here's a couple updates.
    I decided to go with an internal stylesheet, vs. an external (one less file I need to worry about moving during an upgrade, machine change, etc.). Since I'm generating the entire page through a PL/SQL package anyway, the internal stylesheet stays with the code, just in a separate procedure.
    I'm having problems getting a button to fire off the javascript to popup a new window that runs the package. I can run the package fine if I start a new window manually and supply the URL/user.package.procedure, so it's something with where I'm placing the javascript call. I've searched the forums, and the closest I found to an answer was to add the code to the "Image Attributes", but when I tried that, it insisted on an image also being specified. Since I don't have an image, or know of any, I tried both the "HTML Button" and "Template Based Button", but those grey out the "Image Attributes", and the javascript doesn't seem to fire from the "Button Attributes".
    The (edited) javascript call is:
    onclick="javascript:MypopUp2
    ('http://my_machine:my_port/mrds/usgs.print_site.print_doc?dep_id_in=&P0_DEP_ID.',800,600);"Anybody have any ideas on what/where I really need to place this? The javascript does work elsewhere, it's simply a copy of the popup2 script in core.js that I moved over into my own javascript file.
    On a different note, since I'm learning about css as I progress, I discovered that using "div" "/div" causes a new line, while "span" "/span" does not (angle brackets replaced with quotes). Took me a while to get figured out, it was really messing up my formatting, so maybe somebody else just learning this css stuff can save a few headaches.
    Hope somebody knows where to add the code to the button. :^)
