Format time in language

I am trying to customice the Time In system Preferance under the Language & text; Formats tab. it show short, medium, long anf full. because this time is not correct it is affecting my calandar in MS Outlook.

Hi,
I had this problem as well.
What fixed it in my case was:
-install nokia PC suite and run it
-close pc suite
-go to control panel>regional and language settings
-Change your settings to a country you don't live in (also the default locale)
-start pc suite and close it again
-go back to control panel>regional and language and set everything back up correctly (your country)
-Restart PC suite and you should have your settings!
Seems like PC suite only accepts the settings if they have been changed while PC suite was installed.
Hope that solved it!

  • How to Change the default format for differnt language both in java and SQL

    Hello,
    I am using SQL Anywhere in my application.And in my java client application user can log in with their preferred language like English,French,German,Chinese,etc....When even the user log in to the application the data from the database will be displayed with respective to the language.But when i tried to see the dates in Interactive SQL all the dates r in the format of '2008-12-5 16:44:10:673' but say for example for Chinese it will be displayed as '08-12-5 16.44.10' and for some other language it will come in some other format(which is standard format for those language).
    Mean while i am using java client.When ever i am displaying a date it will be with respective to the language using Locale and date format classes.When i am displaying the date for Chinese in GUI it will show the date as '08-12-5 下午4:44'. In summary
    1. For Chinese,the default date pattern from SQL Anywhere date base is '08-12-5 16.44.10'
    2. For the same language date using java code is displaying as '08-12-5 下午4:44'. and i am getting the time format pattern as 'ah:mm'.I tried to change the display format in regional settings but no change in display.
    Is there any way to make both the time format as same?
    Please help me to solve this issue!!!
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hello masijade,
    I did as u said but still the date display is not the same......And I'm telling you that it doesn't matter. What "format" the DB likes to display a Date in when it displays it, is completely irrelevant to how you display it in your GUI.
    A Date does not have a format. A String representation of a Date does.
    As long as you use getDate from ResultSet and setDate from PreparedStatement you do not have to worry about this. Those methods will handle dates to and from the DB themselves. You can then use SimpleDateFormat to display the Date anyway you want to.
    Just because you show the Date one way, and the DB shows it another, does not mean that it is not the same date. Don't get hung up on how the String representation of the Date looks.
    Edit: If you simply want to be able to do "Human Comparisons" then look at the SQL TO_CHAR function (for Oracle, for other DBs the function name may vary). And for Java, read the API docs for SimpleDateFormat (as already intimated above).

  • Mac Formatted Time Capsule w/ PC Formatted External Drive Via USB?

    I use a Mac-formatted Time Capsule to run Time Machine backups on my MacBook Pro.  My wife backs up her PC laptop on a PC-formatted Western Digital "My Book" hard drive which is powered via A/C wall adapter.  I connected the Western Digital PC drive to the Time Capsule via USB so it would be available on our home network and my wife could run her PC backups wirelessly, BUT the drive is not showing up on our network.  Anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks for the in depth clarification.  A few follow up questions:
    1) Are you saying that even though I am only using the TC (in this instance) to make the windows drive available on the network, the drive still needs to be formatted in HFS+?
    HFS+ or FAT32.. the later having severe issues with large disk and large files.
    Great.  I'll do HFS+
    2) If I format the windows drive in HFS+, will the windows laptop be immediately able to write/read to it over the network?  Or will I have to install some sort of program on the windows laptop that allows windows to read/write to HFS+ (which I've always undewrstood to be a mac only format)?
    The format of the disk connected to a NAS is totally irrelevant.. if it offers windows networking file protocol.. ie SMB then it can store files on the hard disk.. it is just like sharing the disk in the Mac.. you can write to that directly from the PC. Try it.. The disk is controlled by the Mac. But it presents SMB to the Network.. On your Mac, go to system preferences.. sharing.. it should be in Internet and wireless.. but on Lion I have no idea. Open file sharing which should be ticked..there should be a public folder by default.. you can add others.. go to options, turn on SMB.. then from the windows computer you should see the disk available in networking. If not fix the names to SMB standard.. you will need to do this on the TC as well.. short, no spaces.. pure alphanumeric names. Copy some files from windows to your Mac.. you have now copied to a network drive.. with the drive format totally irrelevant to your windows computer.
    I'm sorry, but I don't know what "windows networking file protocol" and "SMB" mean.  Also, when you say "NAS" are you referring to the Time Capsule or another device?  Can you please explain things like "The disk is controlled by the Mac but it presents SMB to the network" in a less advanced way.  Pretend I'm a child.  You won't be far off.  It seems like this technique you're explaining is a way for the windows PC to write to the external drive via my MacBook.  Is that even close to correct?  The setup I must create needs to work regardless if macbook is on/off/out of the house.
    3) Does plugging a USB drive into the TC never work properly or is this just a semi-common problem that happens sometimes?  My odds of success will probably dictate whether I try this or not.  I already own the windows USB drive and would like to avoid buying more hardware if possible.
    It is problematic enough that I recommend you try it before committing to it. Even if you have to copy the files off to another location and then reformat the drive. Test it for a couple of days.. the issue happens especially when you are using Lion.. but will also happen with windows. Especially when the disk spins down it will not spin up again and become available to the network.
    Got it.
    4) What do you mean by files being in "native format"?  And what does a dead TC have to do with whether or not they can be recovered to the windows laptop?  If the TC dies, can't I just plug the windows USB drive directly into the windows laptop and it will be the same thing as connecting the drive and laptop via network?  How does a dead TC make things more difficult?
    Thanks for your continued help.
    HFS+ is not windows native format... so files stored by the TC on the USB drive.. when the TC dies.. they all die eventually may be difficult to recover unless you plug it into another TC.. as the PC cannot natively read them. If you format FAT32 then the windows computer can read it.. just there are other issues. eg the disk can be slow.. very slow and it has far less protection. eg a power failure can corrupt the drive.. this was an issue before we moved in windows to NTFS.
    Why do you say "files stored BY THE TC on the USB drive"  Why is the TC storing files on the USB drive?  Isn't plugging the USB into the TC just making the USB available on the network to my windows laptop?  Why is the TC storing files?

  • Format Time Stamp String for excel error

    Hi all,
    I am currently trying to format the time stamp from labview to excel, in an excel recognizable format.  Ive attached a photo of that part of the vi.  The time stamp is formated correctly when it leaves the format time stamp block and after it leaves the build array block, but when it is written to excel file it is formated in what looks like a standard format and excel does not recognize this as a time stamp.
    Any ideas to fix the issue?
    Thanks

    The Example Finder has a few ActiveX examples I think one uses Excel.
    Also if you have the Report Generation Toolkit I think this is what you need
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/38D7104644E0F7A5862578B1001A86C5
    It sets the cell format to be how you want.  The default for a timestamp is "m/d/yyyy h:mm".
    BUT I just think I have an easier solution.  The problem is it correctly detects that this is a time stamp, but the cell format is incorrect.  If we convince it that it is a string it will look right and I assume that's all that matters.  So add a space to the front of your time, so have the format be " %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S" (notice the space) and I think it will look the way you want because Excel thinks it is a string.

  • WinXP SP2 format time and overall install time with RAID 0.

    Jan-Feb 2003, I built an Intel based system with an asus motherboard, and 2 80GB sata seagate hard drives. It took approx 11 minutes from initial "press any key to boot from cd.." to the very last step of the tour. The formatting time was, I'd say under a minute. It was phenomenal.
    I just recently finished building my current AMD based computer with MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. Among all the other stability issues I am having, it seems Winxp is slow. Is this a function of MSI's raid controller/driver?
    Charlie

    I remember pre-SP2 boot times were awesome on my system. Even after a clean install SP2 boot time sucks compared to SP1. Gotta live with it i guess. I'd love to get those boot speeds back when benchmarking and tweaking my system. AFAIK it is a SP2 thing and there's not much that can be done about it. If there is someone please post.

  • Decimal format time value to convert into time (hr:min:sec)value in a graph

    I need to develop a graph in WAD, in BW7. In the graph the value must be showed as HR:MIN:SEC, which I cannot get it right.
    The keyfigure value  carries the duration(hr:min:sec) in decimal format.  In the query, I use this keyfigure for calculation. To get the time broadcasted for a week range. I get the total duration (say 507835.000). Now I need to convert this value back to hr:min:sec. I use the below formulas to get the hr, min, sec.
    D = 507835
    Val1 = D/3600
    Val2 = Frac(val1)
    Val3 = Val2 * 60
    Val4 = frac(Val3) * 60
    Hr = Val1 – Val2
    Min =  Val3 – frac(Val3)
    Sec =  Val4
    In another formula in the query I add Hr + Min/100 + Sec/10000 to get hr.minsec format.
    When I do an average on count of weeks,  this doesn’t round off correctly.
    I tried to also use the Data function TIME() which when the time is > 24 hrs changes the value.
    Lets say if it is 39:00:00, it shows value as 15:00:00 instead of keeping the value 39:00:00.
    When I used this value in the graph it did not show the HR:MIN:SEC values in the value axis instead  it showed 0.0, 0.1,….1.0. Bcoz of this the graph is blank.
    Can anybody help me to resolve this problem.
    Thanks alot

    I checked SU01 and didn't see anything there to customize...
    In my workstation, control panel / regional and languages settings / tab regional Options / customize; my time format is HH:mm:ss; the HH has to be in capital letter to display the time in 24 hour...
    but this is strange anyway... are you reporting with web frontend or excel?

  • Is there a way to use the format:time to enforce 2 character hour and minute?

    I'm using the format HH:mm, but it looks like you can use 1 character for each (for example, 1:4).
    I added a check for that the length is exactly 5 to take care of that,
    since minChars and maxChars aren't applicable for Time according to the documentation.

    Still not working.
    Here's what I've got:
    function
    custom_validation(value, options) {var
    theLength = value.length;
    if(/^all$/i.test(value)) {return true
    //else if(theLength != 5) {// return false;
    else {return
    Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField.ValidationDescriptors.time.validation(value, options);
    var
    datex = new Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField("theTime", "custom", {format:"HH:mm", isRequired:true, validateOn:["blur", "change"], validation: custom_validation, useCharacterMasking:true});

  • New Windows 7 formats Time server idle power levels

    Hi,  I am a new user of an NMH405 which I hope to upgrade to 3TB or 1.5TB raid1 (not 100% yet).  I bought the unit as a NAS unit (but chose this model as it was on special offer) hoping that I could use the media server features later.
    I have the unit working as a NAS using the original drive and have come up with some questions that I cannot find answered either in the documentation or the FAQ's and community posts.
    First Windows 7 appears to be only partialy supported.  The folder locations for media are different to Vista and there are new formats such as .WTV which replaces .DVR-MS as the default TV format.  The supplied backup software didn't install correctly and the update (well I think the import software is updated) on the website is hidden inside a huge .ISO file which is going to take hours to download.  However reading the posts indicates that the .DVR-MS format is only half supported.  Solutions involve editing an .XML file or customising the NTI backup in order to get files onto the server.  .WTV is not even mentioned anywhere.
    Is fully realised Windows 7 support going to be in the next release? and approximately when?
    I decided to use a static IP address for the server as I have been suffering master browser problems with Windows networking.  However I then ran into the Time server bug and had an 8 hour 14 minute offset to the system time.  I have temporarily solved this by assigning a reserved address in my DHCP server and reverting to DHCP mode.  However during the process I found that the NMH405 had become the master browser and solved the initial problem - ACE.
    Fix next firmware update?
    Drive support.  This is difficult to keep up to date and June 2009 is a little out of date.  Well hidden as well, I first found the list by accident but have since had difficulty finding it deliberately.  No "Avoid these drives" list though, but there is sporadic indiction of non-compatibility in the forums.  The list is date 7 days before the .ISO image and of course long before the October date of the latest firmware.  Cannot find an update notice indicating changes - e.g. drive support.
    Make it easier to find and try to keep it more up to date.
    Power levels and drive spin down.  From the data sheet 60W is the only indication, however a link to a third party indicates 13W but no spin down?.  With the emphasis on "Green Power" in the US I am suprised this information is not in bold in the data sheet (though other NAS vendors also hide it).  My unit will spend 80% of its life idle, I do hope the drives do get to spin down and extend their life and save power.
    Is direct Cisco information available rather than just third party?
    Finally perhaps a silly query, but why not.  Can I use a USB hub and attach multiple drives externally?
    StokersSon

    Hi,
    Thanks Wilkins377 for your two cents.  At least I know it should work.
    Well I now have upgraded to 2 x 1.5GB drives (not in the approved list) and have them working 100% as a raid pair.  Also Firmware to 3.18.15
    Using a USB hub I have got multiple HDD USB drives working - including NTFS formatted (read only of course).  So the hardware is all functional.
    However no matter how I format my 2GB and 4GB flash drives (FAT or FAT32 including alternate allocation size) the  mediahub does not see them in either port directly or the powered hub.  I am using an XP machine to format them.  An SD card is seen OK.
    Well flash is not important, being able to use multiple USB for backup and networked access is.  I am not likely to need to use the hub ports for media import as it is easier to get access to my PC and place the hub out of reach.
    I still cannot tell if the drives spin down, they are still quite warm after several hours of only the media hub and router being powered.  I need to get a stethascope and listen if they spin up on access, the nearby PC fans are too noisy.

  • Disk Utility - Format Time for 500GB (Zero Out Data)

    Hello.
    Is there one length of time for formatting a hard drive with one pass of Zero Out Data? For instance, does the length of time change depending if you format with zeros using USB2, FW400, FW800, or eSATA?
    *My Format Setup*
    LaCie Rugged 500GB All-Terrain (USB2 & FW400/800)
    FW800 Cable
    GUID Partition Table
    Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    Zero Out Data (One Pass)
    I'm formatting with a FW800 connection. Disk Utility has said it will take 1.5 hours for about 3.5 hours now. The blue bar has progressed even though the time remaining is incorrect. At this rate, it will take seven hours to format 500GB.
    I'm going to be formatting multiple 500GB and 1TB drives, and I'm wondering if the time I'm experiencing is normal. Therefore, it should take a day to format 1TB with one pass of zeros. Is this correct?
    Thank you for your help! =)
    Message was edited by: Revearti

    It takes a long time to zero out data on a 500GB drive. The larger the drive, the longer it takes. I don't think the connection makes a difference, since each of your listed options are high speed. Never tried it on an external with USB 1.1, so can't give you any real time experience there. But it will take well over an hour to write zeros on every block of a 500GB drive.

  • Smartform Different output formats in same language

    Hello
    I have a Bulgarian smartform which is translated via SE63 into English.We have a customizing table and according to some fields from there,the customer wants to have the english smartform to have slightly different outputs, no big differences,but for ex some bigger/smaller characters or some fields that should not be displayed.
    How can i do this,because the only way to control this is via se63 that has no such option?
    Thank you

    Look at SE63 translation screen, some constants texts are represented like <F1>пример</ > where <F1> is the character format, so translate it to <F2>example</ > and the text will be printed with another character format.
    But it may be easier to check the language code in the Smartforms itself, especially for text that are not to be printed, (if you don't wont to translate text to initial value) or for full variable text (text item without any constant) that don't appear in the translation screen.

    Try scanning your string like this.  There's a bug where the Scan From String doesn't like to pick up the fractional seconds in a specificly formatted timestamp string.  So I had to scan it separately and add.

  • Large iDVD Project (help with iMovie formats, time totals, quality)

    Hi,
    I am in the process of finishing up a large DVD project. I went on a six month backpacking trip, and have lots of photos/small clips to make a DVD from. I will have a main menu in iDVD with submenus for each country (Mexico, Cook Islands, NZ, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, India)
    On each submenu will be around 4-5 movies of around 2-5 minutes each.
    I created movies using iMovie (imported sound-less iPhoto slideshows 640x480 expored as MOV file) and added captions, music etc in iMovie. Each 'movie' is about 1-5 minutes long.
    First question:
    What is the best format to export these movies in? I will be adding them to iDVD. But when I export them, they are around 100-700Mb each depending on time of the movie. I used the expert settings (to Quicktime Mov) using the following settings:
    Video:
    Compression: Mpeg-4 Video
    Quality: Best
    Frame Rate: 60
    key frame rate: 24
    Dimensions: 720x526 4:3
    audio:
    format: AAC
    Sample rate: 48.000Khz
    Bit Rate 128
    Stereo
    In my iDVD project - the menu loops are maximum 30 seconds each, with the audio cut to the same length (ie. not trimmed in the menu - the actual mp3 added is 30seconds etc)
    Now, big question is:
    Do I have a total of 2 hours for everything? All menus,and all movies ? Is there ANY way of calculating this in iDVD or do I have to do it manually (estimate) ???
    I notice with iDVD 8.0 it has a indicator of the space available etc. I have iDVD 6.0 so that doesn't help me now I guess?
    What I need to ask is that - maybe using expert settings to mov files is unnecessary? What would you recommend as the export settings?
    I have been working on the iMovie projects for months and can re-export them all in different format if need be, and can simply re-add the movies to iDVD. I have set up the shell of the DVD in iDVD but not added the movies yet (I have the placeholders there for them).
    Anyway - hopefully I haven't blabbed on too much that someone out there can offer some advice?
    Cheers and THANK YOU!
    Alessandro

    Best Performance: For projects up to one hour
    Best Quality: For projects up to two hours
    If your project is longer than one hour, you have to use Best Quality. Generally, the quality will be fine but the closer your get to that two hour limit, the more possibility you have of seeing some quality hits.
    I deal with lots of long projects and generally if a project is longer than 90 minutes (specially since my projects have lots of fast motion, low light, etc) I split them up over two DVDs, keeping each under the one hour limit. That does give you your best quality option

  • I want to format time in HTML-Client

    I have a lot of ftime fields in different tables. In Germany time is formated  in military format.
    The time is a number of Maximum 4 digits and is formated as follow.  130 Looks 01:30  1415 = 14:15 (2:15 pm)
    I wrote a Little Javascript to Format the number and this works fine.
    But I don't want to copy this in every postRender of every time in every Screen.
    Is there  possibility to do this with a Little custom control, or in worse case to attach the code below to a lot of times, without copy and pasting them.

    Make a new js-Script (maybe: GlobalFunction.js) file and put this into your Scripts Folder. Add this file to your Default.htm where the other js File live.
    In your file GlobalFUnction.js add
    function ConvertMilitaryTime(p1)
    var str = "000"+p1;

  • Format Time to Time/ Date to Date

    Hi,
    need some help. I try to format a Time and a Date value, but I don't want to convert them to a String.
    I know this:
    SimpleDateFormat formatDate = new SimpleDateFormat( "dd/MM/yyyy" );
    SimpleDateFormat formatTime = new SimpleDateFormat( "HH:mm:ss" );
    String strDate = formatDate.format( new Date() );
    String strTime = formatTime.format( new Date() );
    But instaed of "String strDate" and "String strTime" I want something like "Date dDate" and "Time tTime".
    Do someone know, if it's possible?
    Thanks in advance for your help....

    Hi ChuckBing,
    I have to insert/update a Date field in a recordset in a MS Access database. The problem is that the date must be formatted (dd/MM/yyyy) and the time also (HH:mm) - without seconds.
    I can do something like this:
    String strInsert = "INSERT INTO table"
    + "( Date, Time ) "
    + "VALUES "
    + "( "
    + "#" + strDate + "#" + ", "
    + "'" + strTime + "'"
    + " )";
    stmt = con.createStatement();
    stmt.executeUpdate( strInsert );
    And this:
    String strUpdate = "UPDATE table"
    + "SET Time = '" + strTime + "'"
    + " "
    + "WHERE "
    + "Date = " + "#" + strDate + "#"
    + " AND "
    + otherCriteria;
    stmt = con.createStatement();
    stmt.executeUpdate( strUpdate );
    But this solution is bad. And this:
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery( aQuery );
    rs.moveToInsertRow();
    rs.updateString( "Datum", "#" + strDate+ "#"); // doesn't work
    rs.updateString( "Kommt", "'" + strTime + "'" ); // doesn't work
    rs.insertRow();
    rs.moveToCurrentRow();
    doesn't work, because I can't write a String into a Date field on this way.
    Do you know, what I'll try to explain?
