FormatDate, what decides the language?

Hi,
Im developing a site with JSTL in my jsp-pages and have done the formatting of a date the way I want. The month is shown with three letters, jan, feb, mar, apr....
This is the code for the outprint:
<fmt:formatDate value="${ad.date}" pattern="MMM.dd, kk:mm"/>
My problem now is that I want this to be printed in portuguese and I have tryed every possible variant to achive this.
I have tryed setting a <fmt:timeZone value="GMT-3:00"> arount my formatDate. I have tryed setting the locale variable in a servletfilter Locale.setDefault(new Locale("pt_BR"));, I have set the response header accept-language to "pt". I have added a context-variable in my web.xml file (javax.servlet.jsp.jstl.fmt.fallbackLocale) with value "pt", I have also tryed changing the timezone in my OS which is winXP.
Nothing of the above help and I wonder what magic trick will help me get an outprint of the month in another language, in this case brazilian portuguese, pt_BR.
All suggestions are welcome.
thanks
/Mike

The fmt;formatDate has a locale attribute. Try setting that to the correct value.

  • What Decides the Display Order of Subscribed Address Books?

I have asked this question before and received no help with it. The people who can help me are people who have at some time or other subscribed to 2 or more Address Books belonging to others.
Can anyone tell me what decides the order in which the address books I am subscribed to appear in the Groups Column? Obviously they appear below all local groups, but when I subscribe to more than one, I can't work out what decides the order in which they appear in the Groups Column. Its not alphabetical and its not creation order (new ones can appear "anywhere" in the list in my experience) and its not based on what subscribed Address Book is selected at the time I subscribe to a new person's Address Book. Any ideas much appreciated.

The box to the far right (Settings) provides only for sort by newest or by oldest.  Obviously, a designer who never listens to podcasts via iTunes was in charge.  Yet another demonstration of Apple's growing design sclerosis.
I'm finding an old version of iTunes to which I can resort.  I use iTunes for podcasts more than commercial schlock -- obviously not in keeping with Apple's business plan -- and there's no advantage to staying with 11.1.  Here's an article from SF Chronicle how to do this (it's a popular article!):

  • What decides the Content-Language in Internet headers of Outlook?

    Hi Everyone,
I found weird that any mail generated by outlook will have message"Content-Language ",
Which is explained by Microsoft that it's by your default languages set in your Office (File-> Options -> Language -> Choosing Editing Languages)
Whatever Languages I choose here has no effect to the "Content-Language" internet Header.
Also I tried to Install other languages pack, no changes.
But If I sent e-mail from my friend's PC which has both Windows 7& Office 2013 in French, the internet header is "Content-Language: FR"
I don't understand, anyone's help will be very appreciated.

This value should depends on the language of your Outlook Client.
I have just tested this in Outlook Web App by changing the
Language option from English (United States) to
English (Australia) in Options->See All Options->Settings->Regional->Language. And then, the value of
Content-Language: have changed from en-US to
    en-AU.
Although, I don't have any documentation on hand to show you, but please have a try on your end.

  • What is the language used in Flash Builder?

Hi everyone - total noob here.
I'm really interested in learning how to code ( I'm a designer, and want to add coding to my skill set).
What would be the best way to get up to speed? What language should i learn?
Flash Builder & Cataylst look amazing.
    cheers

Thank you all for such a swift response. I wouldn't expect anything less
    from an Adobe forum.
-markerlin - I guess we're in the same boat, eh? You shed some more light
    on the subject for me
*-David - *Thank you for your clarification. It sounds like, there are three
"languages" I should be looking at: actionscript, fxg & mxml, correct? if I
want to be involved in both the design and the back-end aspect of a project?
    Is mxml anything like xml?
    - John - *Thank you for your brief yet concise answer. I'm just trying to
get a clear picture of where i should be focusing my attention.
I'm basically a designer, who wants to make the leap to designing business
solutions to companies who want to (or need to be convinced to) take
advantage of the amazing technology that's out there. After watching this
Adobe eSeminar yesterday, *"Extend your brand and deliver compelling
customer experiences"*, and viewing this (cool) graph,
    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=121875404, you'll
notice that "computer systems design and related services", as well
    as "*management,
scientific and technical consulting services*" have the biggest % leap of
all industries. I'd like to position myself somewhere in there in the next
    decade.
Essentially, i'd like to be a designer that can explain what the
programming/coding needs to be and actually *know *what i'm talking about...
    That's my long answer, anyway.
Oh, and thank you for this site!
If you want to learn FB go to this Adobe website for training:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/videotraining/flex4beta/index.html this
looks great, & i'll probably work my way through it.

  • What is the "Language Reference" difference between AS, Flash, and FLEX?

    I'm fairly new to the world of Flash9 / Flex2 / ActionScript3
    development environment.
As I was reading through tutorial for FLEX/AS, I was
introduced to Language Reference for FLEX 2.0.
At the same time, I noticed in FLASH9 / AS3 there is also
Language Reference page. For a moment, I thought these 2 Language
Reference shared the same API / Language components.
As I have found out, when I was looking up Language Reference
for "Button" class for FLE2.0, it provided
    - mx.controls.Button
But for Language Reference for "Button" class for FLASH9 /
    AS3, it provided different package
    - fl.controls.Butoon
Why are there 2 sets of packages for the class Button?
Shouldn't there just be one package for class Button?
    thanks,
    Ming

    Hello,
The names can be confusing, especially since IE identifies Flash Player as Shockwave Flash Object in 'Manage Add-ons'.  They are, in fact, two different programs, as noted in your Programs and Features screenshot. Flash Player plays web content created using Flash Professional, Flex, or Flash Builder (ActionScript programming language).  Adobe Shockwave Player plays web content that has been created using Adobe Director.  They are not interchageable.  Web content created using ActionScript requires Flash Player and web content created with Adobe Director requires Shockwave Player.

  • What are the programming language used in adobe livecycle development?

    hi friends,
I am a fresher.I woundered what adobe has done in livecycle import option.so i want to know wht is the programming language used and how they read graphical fields like line, circle.

Programatically, Java is the language used to implement business logic that would plug into LiveCycle.  I believe you can use C# for older versions.  However, that information is irrelevant to your problem.
That being said, it's typically not advisable to be modifying PDF files generated by different applications (iText, Adobe LiveCycle, etc.).  While both documents may render out as "PDF", they will not be created internally in the same manner.  I would advise that it may be easy to add PDF files generated by other applications as attachments, they are not going to be easily handled unless you address each specific document in a custom manner.

  • What are the major differences b/w live copy blueprint and Language copy of CQ ?

We are in process of creating a different Language Versions of a Website and trying to figure out the best/recommended approach.
what are the major differences b/w live copy blueprint and Language copy of CQ ? which one is recommended in which ? any pointers on this would be appreciated.

The language copy tool is a one-shot tool to create pages under a certain structure. It has a nice UI for it. But that's it.
The MSM blueprint/livecopy concept is much more powerfull, because it has live connections between the blueprint and the livecopy. It does not only allow you to easily create livecopies, but supports you also in maintaining the relationshop between these. So you can easily detect, that the blueprint page has been updated and needs to be rolled out again. Or that there are conflicts, because both blueprint and livecopy have been updated independently. And so on.
From my perspective the language copy tool should not be used, because with creation of language pages the "fun" has just started and the real work is just ahead.

  • I set my passcode in arabic then I changed the language to English, when I wanted to open my ipad later there was no arabic letters to enter my arabic passcode..and I am not able to use my Ipad again please let me know what to do

I set my passcode in Arabic then I changed the language to English, when I wanted to open my ipad later there was no Arabic letters to enter my Arabic passcode..and I am not able to use my Ipad again please advice me what to do

    Hello Shaholeh87,
Do you see a Globe icon on left hand side of your Spacebar if yes try pressing that and see if you get an option of changing the keboard language (this will work if you have Multiple language set on your iPhone from Settings>General>Keyboard>International Keyboards and added a keyboard in Arabic Language before )
Or you can get your iPhone in Recovery Mode and Restore it to Factory settings but you will lose all your current Data that you have on your iPhone.
To Restore your iPhone by taking it in Recovery Mode you can follow the below steps :
Follow the process mentioned below step by step to get your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad working.
Make sure you have Latest Version of iTunes (11.1.3) Downloaded and Installed on your Computer, if not then you can download the latest version of iTunes from the Link below.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now once you have the Updated version of iTunes installed on your computer follow the below steps to get your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad in Recovery Mode and Then restore it to factory settings
Open iTunes Application on your computer and then start the process step by step
1>Disconnect your device from the computer (if connected). The process won’t work if you start with the iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad connected to the computer. Leave the cable connected to the iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad, as you will be reconnecting the iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad to the Computer later in the process.
2>Power down your device. Turn off your device by holding down the Power button ( On Top right corner of iPod). When the power slider appears, slide it to the right. Wait for your device to comepletely shut down before continuing.
3>Press and hold the Home button (Home Button is located at bottom of your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad screen/display). With the Home button held connect the device to your computer with the USB cable. When reconnected, your device should turn on.
(If the low battery screen appears, charge your device for a few minutes and try the process again.)
4>Continue holding the Home button. After a few moments, you will see the "Connect to iTunes" screen on your device. This screen is a picture of an arrow pointing from a USB cable to the iTunes logo. When you see the screen you can release the Home button.
5>iTunes will display a message stating that a device in recovery mode has been connected. From there you can proceed to restore your iOS device. Once you see this message click on OK and then click on Restore
Once you click on Restore iTunes will download the Latest available version of iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad software (ipsw file) in your computer and after the download is completed the same will be restored in your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad. You will see the Download process and Restore process on top of your iTunes screen. Once the restore is completed your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad will automatically restart and you will see a message that iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad has been Restored and will connect after restart.
Now you will have to follow some steps on your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad to Customize your Device for First Use.
Hope this process will help you

  • What is the best practice for localization? One .rpt for all/each language?

    Hi All,
    I have a question :
What is the best practice for localization? One .rpt for all language or one for each language? I
    Thanks for your response,
    jz

Well, speaking of best practices, see the [Rules of Engagement|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/rulesofEngagement]
Step 2 Asking Your Question; Provide Enough Information
Next, make sure you search these forums before posting. Your question may just be already answered, thus giving you quicker resolution. For example, these threads come up just searching for "localization":
    Multiple language support
    Crystal Reports localization issue
    English resource files
Next, (assuming you are working with CR 2008), see the developer help files:
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/crsdk_net_dg_12_en.chm
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/crsdk_net_apiRef_12_en.chm
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/sdklibrary
In the Crystal Reports 2008 .NET SDK developer Help file, search for "Localization".

  • What is the best way to practice SQL language?

I’m new in database world and want to practice SQL language. I’ve been playing around with Oracle XE, but I realized it’s not very practical to play around with SQL using XE since its sql editor is not user friendly to debug the script. I’m trying to build schemas from scratch and play around with it using SQL. What is the best way to do this?
    Thanks in advance

I do not think that is a valid criticism at all. The basic tools needed to learn SQL is SQL*Plus and a willingness to learn.
There is no "+debugging+" for SQL either... except to break it into simpler steps, testing that... and perhaps using "+explain plan+" to get the execution plan.
Granted that SQL*Plus is not the best tool for displaying data... but then learning SQL should be done using small data sets (not too many columns and few rows) - as even a small data set can represent all the data model complexities needed for learning SQL.
The examples you use, the test tables and the practical exercises used in the learning process are by far more important how "pretty" the tool being used is.
FWIW, I do 99% of all my SQL work and PL/SQL development using SQL*Plus - it is a very capable tool.
