Formating a Dell server for installing oracle10g

hi all,
I want to install oracle10g Rel2 in my dell SERVER . but before installation i want to format my server because i just want Opering System and Oracle database at this server nothing else. but my network administrator told me formating a server decrease the efficieny of the server so install oracle without formating the system. IS it true ?? because i don't believe that formating a system decrease its effeciency.

That's no bad idea. XP Professional is still a desktop system, appropriate for doing homework. You should run Oracle on a server system, in the documentation (installation guide) there are some hints, which Windows components you don't need for running Oracle on the system.

Preparing MCS server for install CUCM/UC

Hello,
Wanted to know what tools do you guys use to have an MCS server with already installed UCM or UC or Windows2003. This implies to partitioning the hard drives correctly (if they are not) according to the UCM / UC build requirements (any supporting doc would be great) and Formating them?etc etc. I'd like to know what you guys are using to get things going in preping the server prior to the installation i.e. popping the installer cd. Not sure if the installer Images includes these such tools.. please share your experience.

Guess my question was too broad, sorry about that. I'm preping an mcs 7835i2 server for UC713 install. Currently it's aborting and throwing error related to bios. I'll include the log from the dump after aborting as follows:

BIOS on the server is Ver: 1.12, I believe year 2008. After researching, it seems like there is a compatibility issue between this version of bios and what's been put in the UC installer cd to look for. The question is whether I need a downgrade or upgrade on bios, can only be known if I get to know what the UC cd is looking for so adjustments can be made to bios. For bios update i have to go to ibm. Not sure if anyone ran into this? would like your thoughts on it.

How to re-install Windows 2012 on Dell Server?

I have a server that has Windows server 2012 installed but we lost the password for Administrator.
I have a bootable USB stick ready and plug in but not getting the installation screen after rebooting the server.
Instead keep getting login screen.
Any input welcome.

Generally speaking, try to press F12 during the reboot to check the result.

I have partitioned my time capsule, as I want part of it to act as a media server for both mac and windows. However I don't know what format that I need to partition it to. I also can't make it a permanently accesible drive. I want to restore the drive to the original format (which I don't know) and start again and re-partition the drive in a format that can be used for media by both mac and PC and for time machine back-ups and make the media part of it permanetly accesible so I can add and acccess my files.

You are mixing up a couple of things here.
The TC drive cannot be partitioned without removing it.. did you do that?
If you partition it you must use a Mac disk utility and use the HFS+ ie standard Mac format. And GUID partition table not windows type.
You can select erase disk in the airport utility.. that will take the disk back to original format. No partitions. TC is deliberately not partitioned as it is not a media server.. it is a backup device for TM. Over time .. the disk will be filled with TM backups so you have a long history of file changes to your computer.
There is no media server in the TC.. it is merely disk storage.. you can serve files from it to a media device.. but the TC itself is dumb as dumb.
Now the actual format of the drive is irrelevant to the PC.. The TC offers SMB file services to the network. You can copy files to and from the TC as if it was a local disk without caring one iota about the format. The TC handles that .. it is not a local disk .. it is a network drive.
Although you cannot partition the TC. you can still copy files to it.. this does have implications for TM.. but as long as there is plenty of free space should not be a major issue.
You can create a disk image via the disk utility in a Mac.. and as stated you can create partitions if you do it on a Mac with the disk directly connected which means breaking warranty if any exists on the TC.

I installed a New server with Windows 2003.
I have some oracle forms developed using 6i, I don't mind to convert them later.
What other oracle 10g software I need to install to have my oracle forms and reports to run on web?
I tried to install in this sequence but not working:-
1- windows 2003
2- IIS
3- Oracle Developer Suite
Then I removed IIS and installed the Oracle SOA Application server also still cannot.
What did I do wrong or what should I install (I meant by sequence?)

Why installing IIS o_O?
For Installing a developer Machine just install Oracle Developer suite; for testing your forms you use OC4J ("start OC4J instance" in start menu), and you can run your forms in web; no need for a aditional webserver (don't believe there's an OC4J connector for IIS available; and if so I wouldn't use it either ;-))
For Installing a server for "productional" use install Oracle Application Server (available on otn) which comes with an Apache as webserver and all the other needful things for runnung forms on the web.
For configuring both of them just take a look at the documentations on http://otn.oracle.com

Generally, it's ok to install on two machines as long as they are both yours and you only use one version at a time.

How do i Install the Software Update Server for Windows 7? I get an error saying: Can't Install the Software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.
I downloaded the software so How do I install it?
Do I install it all over again or when I have windows open?

Back up your system drive completely. If you have no backup plan in place, now would be a good time to start. You can use CarbonCopyCloner to make a complete, bootable backup of your system on another drive or volume. I am getting the error:

I read up some on google, but all of them says that they have crated a partition and that is the problem, I only have the standard "Macintosh HD".
I tried to create a partition manually in disk utility but then the error message: "Partition failed with error message: Could not unmount disk."
Can anyone help me? It's driving me crazy.

This message, and threads like yours got asked daily for over two years, now it is only a couple times a week!!
Is it so hard to follow through? you were to have backup already, clones are best, then erase/format and restore.
Then partition.
Some have been able to use Disk Utility booted from OS X DVD or another drive, and repair the drive.
You have to use Boot Camp Assistant (99.9% anyway) to create and achieve a proper Windows Master Boot Record partition.

Can't figure out how to install sql server for PHP

I am trying to install SQL Server for PHP on a server with Server 2008 32 bit. The exe from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20098 keeps tell me that it is an invalid win32 application. I've tried running as administrator
as well. Somewhere I read you need to open the exe with 7zip. I was able to do that and see all the files in there, but where do I go from there?

Dear all,
May I know what is the best practice for install oracle 11g r2 on windows server 2008 r2. Should I create a special account for windows for the oracle database installation? What permission should I grant to the folders where Oracle installed and the database related files located (datafiles, controlfiles, etc.)
Just grant Full for Administrators and System and remove permissions for all others accounts?
Also how should I configure windows firewall to allow client connect to the database.

Installing LMS Content Server for EBS 12.1.3

I'm looking into setting up a Content Server for LMS. We're on 12.1.3 and I've read Oracle Learning Management Content Server setup on Oracle 10gAS - Releases 11i and 12 [ID 427311.1]. I've installed 10g iAS in the past and understand what I need to do. This note was updated in May of this year so I'm assuming it's up to date. It says 'Install 10g Application server (preferably 10.1.3.0.0 )'. How can I get version 10.1.3.0.0?

Install 11.1.2.4 on a single server for testing

I am not sure if anyone has installed 11.1.2.4 on a single server. If so can you please assit me. We are trying to consolidate some servers and would like to use a single server for testing of 11.1.2.4. Can this be done? Has anyone done this sucessfully or have any documents on how to do it on a single server.
