Formating HD and Itunes question.

I want to format my HDD and reeinstall Windows, but i have a doubt. I have an IPOD Color 60 Gb and i use Itunes to put the mp3 into the device. I have all the albuns organized in iTunes with albuns covers and all.
What i want to know is what do i have to do so that everything is as before i formated the HDD. Same is to say, is there any way of saving the organized itunes so that after format i just put it on itunes and to avoid the iPod from not recognizing the previous organization.
Sorry for my english. hope you understood. tks

Back up all your music onto CD or DVD or something before proceeding to re-format the hard drive.

  • Touch 3g and iTunes question

    Hello,
I apologize for the below question as I'm not the most tech savvy person.
I recently restored my I touch and was originally able to go onto my original I tunes and re sync my music onto it. Recently my I touch reverted back to the new restored I touch on I tunes and I started to download my music onto it. Now it has reverted back to the original I tunes and all the music that I put onto the new I touch is gone. Can I somehow get rid of the old I tunes so it is now only my new restored I touch. I tried to download music onto the old I tunes and it never took.
    Thanks.

How do I delete all the music from the iTouch and iTunes 100% and start fresh?
    Thanks

  • HT1766 iPod and iTunes question

I updated iTunes and now it doesn't seem to recognize my iPod Touch.  I plug the touch into the computer and iTunes opens but it doesn't show my iPod anywhere.  Any suggestions?

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

  • IPhone 4 and iTunes question-HELP?

ok- so, i have an existing iTunes account (current version 9.2)- i previously had ONE device attached to it- my 3Gs that i upgraded to my iP4 with.
I did not wipe my 3Gs- as i sent it to my daughter who placed her SIM from her 3G into it- HOWEVER, since activating my iP4 the only phone that has been synched to my iTunes is the new iP4- i was able to transfer all of my 90 apps- FINE- but i have an issue with my audiobooks-I keep getting this message when i try to put any of my audiobooks onto my iP4:
"THE PHONE "JILL...." IS SYNCED WITH ANOTHER ITUNES LIBRARY. DO YOU WANT TO ERASE THIS IPHONE AND SYNC WITH THIS ITUNES LIBRARY? AN IPHONE CAN BE SYNCED WITH ONLY ONE (1) iTUNES LIBRARY AT A TIME. ERASING AND SYNCING REPLACES THE CONTENTS OF THIS iPHONE WITH THE CONTENTS OF THIS LIBRARY"
ummm, my question is: A) What other Library might they be referring to? It syncs fine on this one and only iTunes account i have had for years- B) i am concerned WHAT exactly will be erased and replaced??? What is the point of this message if the APPS on the phone are from my one and only library?
I originally thought that maybe i was getting this message because all of the audiobooks had been previously loaded onto my 3Gs and i did not care- as i had already listened to them. BUT I just paid $26 for a new audiobook from iTunes and want it on my iP4- and it STILL gives me this message...
    ANYONE?

looking for any input on this? I have had one iTunes account EVER- same one- same password- i am NOT logging on to the "wrong" account- am i just confused by the message as to erasing my iPhone? Again, it syncs properly as to apps and all of my contacts ETC- it is JUST PERTAINING to AUDIOBOOKS and MUSIC?? Even new purchases...

  • IWeb and iTunes question.....

I'm using iWeb to publish my podcast and have submitted it to iTunes and it has been added to the directory, however, the artwork is incorrect at iTunes. How can I fix this?
I've used all the podcast elements in iWeb and have artwork for the podcast, however, iTunes is using a background image from my website as the artwork to display.
    here's the website link: http://web.mac.com/ericd2/iWeb/
      Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Eric... there is no fix for this yet. Many people are having the same issue. I've searched the discussion board, talked to the genius bar, apple care, itunes support, iweb support, and .mac support. I've tried rewriting my rss.xml file and loading it to idisk and syncing, I've also tried deleting the original podcasting page after copying and pasting all of the text, graphics, audio and video to a new page and resubmitting it to iTunes. I've also had itunes delete the feed and resubmit it.
None of this works. Some of us have artwork, some of us don't. Itunes is aware and is working on it.
Sorry man, wish I had better news.

  • IPhoto not in new Lion OS install and iTunes question

I recently had my iMac recalled for a faulty hard drive.  Apple replaced the HD and installed Lion v10.8.2.  I cannot find iPhoto anywhere.  Am I missing something on this, as I cannot find it anywhere?
Also, I backed up all HD info on an extermnal HD before my iMac HD was replaced by Apple.  How do I now trasfer iTunes items on my External HD into new iTunes on new HD?
    Thanks for replies and help

In addition to mende1's answer: did you already accept the iLife apps, if they came preinstalled on your mac? If not, see this support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718, i.e. the paragaph
Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion
If you erase install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion installed, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
After installation, start (up) from OS X.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to complete installation of your applications.

  • SONG AND ITUNES QUESTION

I think this is simple, however, I do not know what the answer. Ok I have some Holiday songs on my Ipod in the playlist. Once the holidays are over is there a way to remove the holiday somgs from the ipod, but leave them on Itunes on my computer?
    Thanks!!

Best way is to go to iTunes preference (with the iPod connected to your computer), pick the iPod tab and then under the sync options, Check the box that tells iTunes to only sync the checked songs. OK out of that.
Now go to your playlist, select all, right click, uncheck all the selections. They will now be removed from the iPod when you update it but remain in your iTunes library. In addition, since they are no longer checked, they also won't play in iTunes when you are shuffling around your library. They will only play if you specifically double click them to play.
Next year, reselect the playlist and recheck them all and they will go back onto your iPod.

  • Headphones and iTunes question!

Why is is when I plug my headphones into my Macbook Pro, iTunes automatically plays? And when I'm skyping with someone using my headphones, iTunes will play and the person I'm skyping with can't hear me. Even if I exit iTunes it'll come back up. Does anyone know why?

this same thing happened to me...My headphone jack has worked well for the past 2 1/2 years. Now my right Boston speaker no longer emits sound. It's not the speaker itself or the sound system because it works fine with other computers/ipods.
when i try to fiddle with the input cord that goes into my headphone jack it will sometimes work and play music out of both speakers. Do I have to mail the whole computer into apple or does anyone know if this is a quick fix that a local computer shop could do?
    any help would be great...thanks!

  • New iphone and itunes question

    Hi all,
I just upgraded to the 4s from a 3gs. I have synched the new phone itunes. it all seems to be ok except that itunes seems to think that my phone is new every time i connect it. it brings up the lets get started screen. when i go into icloud and send my phone a test message it goes to the old on even though the number i am using for the new phone is the same i used for the old one. so im not sure where i am going wrong. it seems like itunes does not see my new phone as my primary device.
    any help is appreciated!

We've run into the "authorization loop" problem with iPhone syncing as well. After moving the user account to the new MacBook Pro, iTunes keeps asking us to authorize the computer, then tells us that it is already authorized (which it should be). When you click "ok" to the already authorized message, it pops up with a new request to authorize the computer.
This was a minor problem with songs purchased with iTunes, but now if we sync the iPhone on the new laptop, it says it will delete all the apps and their data unless we authorize the computer. But we run into the same loop described above. This is a real problem, and if anyone can point me to a good working solution, I'd appreciate it. I hope Apple is listening!

  • Iphone and itunes questions

When my iphone 4 is connected to my mac book and i try to change some of the settings such as manually manage music for my iphone, when i click the box then hit apply a warning comes up saying are you sure you want to delete 22 apps from my iphone. I only want to change the fact the my iphone automatically syncs with my library every time I plug my phone in. Any ideas?

Well first go to Preferences in iTunes menus and in there is where you turn off auto sync. Manually manage is something else.
Then also choose Transfer Purchased content from File menu to ensure every app on the phone is transfered to iTunes.

  • I have my music loaded in Real Player and iTunes won't read it?

    Hi, I'm new to ipods...
I have a library of 87g of music on a external hard drive. I'm trying to convert all my music so I can play it on my Ipod and I can't. does it means that I have to re load all my CD to the compter read by itunes or there is a program or a software that I can use to convert it to iTunes Format?
    Thanks

Doesn't matter, those are Real Audio format files and iTunes can't directly import them.
You are going to need conversion software such as:
http://www.coolutils.com/RealAudio-to-MP3 (You can also convert to AAC)
    http://all-streaming-media.com/convert-audio-video-files/
    or Google for more.

  • Windows 7 and iTunes doens't recognise iPod Classic 80g after wipe clean hard drive and format fat32.

My iPod Classic 80gb every now-and-then goes funny, and eventually iTunes doesn't recognise it. In the past I could put it on disk mode, and do a reset, but some times I would have to format (FAT32), uninstall and reinstall iTunes, so it would work. Now it happened again, this time wiped clean the hard drive and formatted. However windows 7 and iTunes still doesn't recognise it. Tried many tips online but nothing works. All software I have used don't see the hard drive, so can't format it again.
I can get it on disk mode but even then windows and iTunes don't recognise it. When connecting to laptop my machine goes boiling hot. Left it connected with iTunes on for  few hours but still no luck.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello @turingtest2.
Following your threat I realized it was time to have my hard drive changed. My iPod classic has a Samsung Model: HS081HA, 80gb/3600 rpm (real hard to get it open and check out!!!).
My question is if I DO HAVE to buy exactly the same hard drive, or I could get away with another manufacturer and model, such as Toshiba (80 GB MK8009GAH FOR iPod Video 5th 5.5th iPod Classic 6.5th 7th Gen Hard Drive - Ebay listing)?
I ask you that as these Toshiba hard drives are considerably cheaper.
    Help much appreciated.

  • I just got a new iPad 2 and I have lot of questions. I was able to wirelessly link my iPad and iTunes on my PC. I was able to SYNC my email and calendar (new only no history), however I have not been able to SYNC Outlook contacts.

I just got a new iPad 2 and I have lot of questions. I was able to wirelessly link my iPad and iTunes on my PC. I was able to SYNC my email and calendar (new entries only no history), however I have not been able to SYNC Outlook contacts. Outlook has multiple contact lists. Only one has any data. I can't find a way to delete the others and I can't keep the one I want to use at the top of the list. Any ideas?
I have a question about email. I have several thousand emails in 10 or so days. How can I select multiple emails for deletion in stead of one at a time? How do I designate emails from a given sender as junk or block certain senders?
    Ron

the spcs page on this site state which video formats the ipad supports
I'd suggest converting your old videos to one of those formats
handbrake is a free program which does this for you
itunes used to be able to too when I right clicked incompatible media but don't see the option any more
or maybe it only show when one right click incompatible media and currently my lib don't have any
about the music then it's odd what formats are they?
if they are acc protected have you tried to remove the DRM this can be don using itunes as
apple don't use DRM for music any more

  • Why won't my iPod work on iTunes or my computer?  It shows up (not on iTunes) and the iPod shows connected but it has to be "formatted." And why are half my songs unable to play on it anymore?  It just skips them!

I've read through several discussions and I've seen a lot of similar issues but none that were quite like mine.  Every time I plug my 3rd gen. iPod nano in it shows it connected on the iPod screen and iTunes opens up but the device does not show up in iTunes.  The icon on the iPod shows connected and gives the arrows circling showing syncing even though it still says connected.  But it won’t show up in iTunes.  It shows up on my windows computer but I can’t click it or make it do anything.  It keeps saying “You need to format the disk before you can do anything.”  And when I hit cancel it beeps and says "Location not available.  Dara error (cyclic redundancy check)."  As if I know what that means!!  And I have 800 songs on it but they aren’t all on my computer and some are on my parents’ computer but I can’t get to that one.  It shows it is a “FAT32” which I have no clue what that means but I’ve never noticed that before.
Windows "can't access the disk" and I don't know why.  It gives me that notification if I try to check the drive or disk or device for problems.  And if you click it on Windows it pops up a screen with formatting things (which I don't know anything about).  And then it closes and says that it CANNOT format the device.
The iPod works almost okay when it isn’t plugged in, but I’ve noticed that half my songs won’t play.  You click on it and it plays the next one in the album.  And it isn’t always the first song in an album but random songs.  And songs I listen to a lot.  You can’t go back (you can only go forward and you can’t skip over the ‘missing’ song) or even click to select those songs.  But other songs play normal, just not half of them that are on the iPod but all of a sudden no longer work.  And I don’t know why.  I have another 3rd gen. iPod nano that doesn’t have ANY of these problems.  It hooks up, it doesn’t need formatting, and all its songs play.  I don’t know what is wrong or what to do.  I’ve tried re-downloading iTunes and everything.  I don’t want to have to reset my iPod and lose everything.
I’ve tried locating the device in iTunes and it shows the iPod but it gives this weird symbol and I can’t select it.  It’s like a white box with a box that is outlined in blue with six random icons in the middle.   I’ve seen it before and it always means something is wrong or a file (which is where I have seen it before) is corrupted.  And like I said I have a second iPod nano of the same generation and it does not give this weird symbol.  Plus it connects just fine.  It’s this one iPod.
I don’t understand what is going on.  It worked just fine and then all of a sudden I noticed songs wouldn’t play so I went to plug it into iTunes and nothing has worked.  I’ve searched discussions and none of the tips help.  But I want my songs to play again and I want my iPod back.

How do I merge AppleID accounts and shut down the old one (when I have no password and the security questions aren't working?)

You cannot merge Apple ID accounts, that has never been supported.
You can contact the Apple ID Security folks per the listing in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 and they can help reset security questions and get the account working.
