Formating Pie Chart

Hi all,
I am very new to XcelsiusPlease tell me how to work on Charts (Pie Chart) . I am using one Pie Chart to which I mention the data lables range, But it is showing the specifed range of lables as well as defalt lables I tried to deleat default lables but there is no option to deleat it. Please help me.
Thank You

Shonti,
The samples Pie chart is an example of  a chart with Drill down feature enabled, which can be done with  the second tab(drill down) on the pie chart property sheet.
In the sample pie chart the labels and values are bound under general tab, drill down feature is enabled under the drill down tab, insertion type, source data and the destination range is specified. Now the values that were bound in general tab are deleted so that the chart can feed from the values specified in the destination range. This is the reason why the value range is empty in the general tab. This destination range is highlighted in the embedded property sheet. The coIumn chart below it also displays data or values entering the destination range which is specified as it's y axis values.
In preview mode when you click on each pie slice notice the column chart below shows the data corresponding to the label(which is branch name) and it's monthly sales ,these are the values that enter into the destination range specified in the drill down property tab of the pie chart and also into the value y axis of the column chart.
Pease also refer to Xcelsius user guide located under Help > Xcelsius help or simply press F1 to pull it out.
Hope this helps.

  • Labels in Pie Charts

    Hi,
I have two questions about the behavior of labels in pie charts:
    Question 1:
When I format pie chart labels as 'NameandValue', the result in the label pie chart always appears as 'Value' and then 'Name', how can I change this?
    Question 2:
I have several pie charts, that overlap labels, how can I customize charts in order for that never to occur?

In order to achieve that you will need to change the pcxml files controlling the pie chart (since the chart is actually produced by the Corda engine)
    They are in
    \\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\popbin
    and for oc4j in:
    \\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10\popbin
I don't have all the variables available off the top of my head, but John posted a quite exhaustive list:

  • Only One Label is Formatting as Percent in a Pie Chart - Help

I'm having trouble with a pie chart.  I have only two values in the chart and have added labels.  When I preview the report both labels display correctly.  However, when I right-click the labels in design view and select the #PERCENT option
from the Series Label Properties and the preview the chart, only one label is actually formatted as a percent.
     I don't get it?
I've followed the steps in other forum questions to get around this but nothing works.  I am in a hurry and really need this to work properly, can someone spell this out for me?
This is what I see in preview currently:

  • Pie Chart Formatting

I have a problem and hope I can find a solution here.
When creating a 3-d Pie Chart in Webi XI 3, the labels for the sections of the chart are overlapping and un-readable.
How do I keep these labels from overlapping?

    Hi Jeffery,
The following solutions might help you to resolve the issue.
    Solution1:
Do not use the diagonal labeling, or make the initial chart large enough to try and avoid the diagonal labeling from occurring as users drill down.
    Solution2:
    1) Open the report in Business Objects XI R3.
    2) Double click on the data labels. Data labels Format window opens up.
    3) On the Number tab look for properties section, add few spaces at the beginning of the positive and negative format of the number.
    4) Click on Apply and then OK.

  • Formatted numbers in pie chart

    Hello
I'm displaying a pie chart graph and the numbers in it are not formatted (eg 345234534 without any commas).
I want to display numbers in a formatted way (0,000.00) in a pie chart, but if I use the NSTR function the number become a string and I can't use that number.
How can I do this ?
    Bye
    Omer

    Hey Pramod,
I really wanted your answer to work, but it doesn't. The NVAL function convert the String Type to a number type ( ==> the graph accept the type), but it also deletes the commas.
Have you tried it yourself ?
    Bye

  • Problems with pie chart formatting - APEX v2

Hi - I have created a region with an SVG Pie Chart and set the CSS to display the three segments as red, yellow and green using one of the examples from a previous forum posting. That all works fine, but I still have two issues with the chart:-
    - the legend is displaying too big and is overlapping the right hand region border which looks messy. Is there anyway to force the size of the legend as there is lots of blank space to the right of the labels/values?. If not, is there any way to get the legend to display at the bottom of the area rather than to the side of the chart?
    - the pie chart is 3D but the colours are only displaying on the side, not the top. Is there something I need to set to get this to work OK? Current CSS included below.

  • SSRS Report Builder 3.0 - Pie Chart

    Hi,
I have Pie chart that displays Number of  items by Country,
My data set is pulling the correct values.
The 3D effect is true for the pie chart and the Series Labels are set to diplay out of the Slice.
I used the collected style to be SingleSlice and not using percentages but just the values less than or = 5 to be collected to other countries slice.
for labels format I am using a column value from the query where I Concatenate the Value and Name of the country as string as I am not showing the legend on the chart for more space
All the values are showing up right except for one value for one slice which is added extra numbers at the beginning of the number part of the string.
For Example , if for USA there are 320 items  it should should show up as USA - 320  as that is the value that the query bring and I double checked that. But that value dipslays USA - 12320 for some reason and this is happening only with one
    label.
I might be missing somethign silly but if someone can save my time and help me it would be appreciated.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
    Thanks,
    Chaitanya

    Hi Chaitanya,
    Sorry for the delay.
I am unable to reproduce the issue in my test environment. The issue seems rather odd. Here, I suggest that you create a new report and design the Pie Chart from scratch, and then check the issue again.
If the issue persists, please post the expression of the label data as well as the CustomAttributes settings of the target series of the Pie Chart.

  • Custom Formatting Of Chart Legends

I've been playing with Flex Charting, and I have lots of nice
looking graphs that I've created from database feeds. However, what
I really want to know how to do is format the chart legend better.
For example I have a pie chart that has about 50 different data
items/series and the legend is huge in either horizontal or
vertical mode it prints all the way down the page. How can I make
it two, three or more columns?

    Hi Justin,
I think, there is no way to do such a customization with the standard Javadoc (i.e. powered by the Standard Doclet).
After all, the job of the standard Javadoc is doing standard (general) things and I just cannot imagine any general rule (setting or option) that would embrace all kinds of possible customizations about displaying of annotations.
So, the only way in your situation would be to modify the doclet itself. You can try tweaking the standard doclet: overload some its classes or change sources (according to the license they provide). However, I just can say, that way proved to have lots of limitations.
Fortunately, I could suggest you a different rote that would allow you solving your problem in a few minutes. We have a product called "DocFlex/Javadoc":
    http://www.filigris.com/products/docflex_javadoc/
This is a highly customizable Javadoc doclet. More exactly, this is a system for rapid development of professional quality doclets (with the support of both framed/single-file HTML and RTF output).
With that tool, the generation of every sort of Javadoc output is programmed in special templates (using graphic Template Designer). The product is provided with the "standard template set" that generates the HTML Java API documentation very similar to the standard Javadoc.
In fact, to solve you task, you will need to modify a subtemplate called "annotations.tpl". See on this page: http://www.filigris.com/products/docflex_javadoc/templates.php
If you are interested about all this, we could help you to modify the necessary template absolutely free. Then, you will need only to buy a full product license to have everything work without limitations and that will be all!
So, if you are interested, please let us know by sending a e-mail to the address found on this page:

  • Error while creating a Pie Chart

    Hi Experts,
I have prepared a spreadsheet in Web Analysis in which two dimensions are appearing in Rows, one dimension in Columns and one dimension in Page View.
When I convert this spreadsheet into a Pie Chart, or any other chart for that matter, no data is displayed. If I remove one dimension from Rows to POV, data starts appearing in the chart. But it is not a relevant chart as the data shown in it is not in the format in which it is required.
Kindly help in resolving this issue.
    Regards,
    SYR

    Hi Sa'ad
Its been a little while since I used Web Analysis but I remember that there are issues if you have more than 1 dimension in rows or columns. What I cannot remember is whether it automatically shifts a dimension to the page or whether as you suggest it just doesn't display.
Pie charts can only display data from two dimensions (1 rows, 1 columns), you can filter using dimensions on pages. If that doesn't give you what you need then I'm afraid you need to stick to a different chart type.
    Hope this helps

  • Pie Chart Legend Question

    Running CR XI R2
I have a pie chart that is displaying both Percentages and values in the legend. Is there any way to remove the $ from the value in the Legend as the Value is not currency but a count.
    Thanks
    Joe

I tried that and it didn't work. I've actually played around with it more and got them to go away
I don't have data elements (labels) on the pie chart slices, and I'm sorry i forgot to mention that. I put the labels on, changed their formatting and took them off again and it affected the legend in the way I was hoping for.
    Thanks for the response

    CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_UPLOAD'
    EXPORTING
    FILENAME = 'C:\test.csv'

  • CR 8.0 pie chart/graph doesn't appear in web browser

    Post Author: kevind
    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
    Hi,
I am using a CR 8.0 report (containing data in tabular format and Pie/Bar graph) with Web component Server.
In design mode (by entering the parameters) when i view my report through the CR IDE then i can view my report perfectly with the pie and bar graphs.
However, once i call the same report through the web component server, by my JSP page, the report appears with the data but the page containing the piechart/Bar graph doesn't appear. (i am using the ActiveXViewer)
When i remove the chart/graph, then all the pages are displayed in my browser (IE) properly, but if i add back the pie chart then the page on which this should appear -  doesnt display.
Has anyone faced a similar issue? In design it displays with data but once called through webcomponent server it fails?
    Thanks,
    Kevin D

    Hello Subramaya,
currently I am working on a small article in the Wiki area of the ITS (Wiki, ITS HowTos): <a href="https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/HOME/UsingSAPGUIforHTMLinsteadofanIAC">Using SAP GUI for HTML instead of an IAC or EWT service</a>.

  • Display three Values in Pie charts

    Hi All,
I want to display three Values in Pie Chart(%, Value and one more field). Please suggest me any solution for this.
For Eg Pie chart should display value lie this :- Nokia, 25,025, 38.52% (It consists of three differet values)
    Thanks,

I am not sure if you could get the concatenation to work.
But here are some ideas (please post if you get the solution):
    - Take a look at the list of other formatting options based on the following link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/xml-publisher/blog/xsltext/10134/oracle/apps/xdo/template/rtf/XSLTFunctions.html
    - Another alternative is to customize the class file : oracle/dss/graph/SliceLabel.class located in bipres.jar
You would need to customize it to do what you need.
    a) Modify this one so that it is used by the BIP Server
    C:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\xmlpserver\xmlpserver\WEB-INF\lib
    b) Modify this one so that it is used by the Client : MS Word AddIn:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\BI Publisher\BI Publisher Desktop\Template Builder for Word\jlib

  • % value in a pie chart

    Hi,
I have a pie chart where I display % on hover. One of the values is 217 out of 96976538, which comes out to 0.00%. But , the pie chart is displaying 2.24E-4%. How can I solve this to display 0.00%
    thx,
    parag

In Pie chart we do following things,
    1)     Axis Titles & Labels in enable the Override Default Data Format
    2)     Treat Number As = Percentage
    3)     Decimal Place = 2, after click on Ok.
