Formatted text editor/view
Hi,
I have to display a set of messages with icons in a read only text area.
Two options I have are:
1. Formatted text view - here I cannot restrict the size, is there any way to do that?
2. Formatted text editor - here, I get the toolbar with 'bold', 'italics', etc. icons on top. Is there a way to hide it? Please help.
Regards,
Rachita.
Personally it sounds like I would go for the FormattedTextEditor. I don't believe that you can completely remove the button bar at the top. However you can put the UI element into ReadOnly mode via the corresponding property. The buttons are then disabled. Not the best look, but something I think end users are used to.

How to display Formatted text view in adobe forms
Hi Folks,
We have a element formatted text edit/view in webdynpro so it is easy to make the text formates(Bullets, font sizes, etc..) in webdynpro, but the same feature is not available in Adobe forms designer...I don't find any element in the Adobe Library...
If any body have an idea how to display the formatted text in adobe, please let me know the procedure.
I have a html tag related data in my Ztable..I want to display this converted string from HTML Tab on adobe, please explain me how to fix this issue.
Thanks,
Naresh.Hi Juergen,
I found Your blog and found it really interesting... though I was not able to use it: I (like Jun Li is asking, I guess) need to use a dynamic text, containing formatting informations (according the xhtml syntax).
I tried to pass it to the form by an ABAP-dictionary based interface and by means of the context (in a webdynpro page), but both tries failed.
Some suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou

Formatted Text Edit & SAP Script Text
I'm working through a business requirement to input some long text, and then update an existing SAP script text object (attached to a sales order).
I'm using a formatted text editor to allow the users to enter the text - however I can't find a utlity that allows me to convert this data into a format that can be saved into a sap script text.
Thanks,
HeatherHi Heather,

Format XMl to be read in a text editor.
Hi,
I'm using ixml functions to create an xml file. Each element of my document is created using :
<cl_xml_document> ->create_simple_element
I then export it to a file with :
<cl_xml_document>->export_to_file
When the created file is opened with an xml viewer, it appears well presented, every tag is displayed on a seperate line.
However, once opened with a text editor, the whole content is displayed on one line. Is there to format the file with some sort of line seperator?
On debugging, I found out that only one line of its internal table is used to store the data.Welcome to SDN
Try this,
data: temp_str type string.
concatenate '>' cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf '<' into temp_str .
replace all occurrences of '><' in XML_STRING with temp_str.
xml_string is the straing variable to hold the xml .
now use xml_string to show it in texteditor.

Obviously, as seen above, I'm doing something wrong or Live View does not do all the functions that Design View use to do. I realize I can still access Design View in non-Fluid Grid Layout documents and that is my current work-around. I copy from my Word file into Design View available in non-Fluid, then copy that code into my Fluid Grid Layout document, not real efficient use of my time. And, even that work-around may not be available after the next upgrade.Hans thank you for your reply and attention to this matter. Moreover, with your steeped expertise I do not, in any fashion, intend to be flippant or capricious.
However, I do not believe the reply is on point since I'm not discussing the insertion of an HTML tag/element; but rather, the placing of complex formatted text into my various web pages.
Design View and 2014.1 Live View seem to serve different functions. That is, Design View, for us, serves as a highly sophisticated HTML5 code generator that allows us to properly display complex formatted text that originally is created as a Word docx file. As I noted in my original post, the complex formatted text from the Word file is then pasted into Design View and thus properly renders on the web page. I invite you to try this yourself. Simply copy my properly formatted text in my original post (that can be found at "Using Design View the web page rendered this way:") to a Word file, and it will retain the complex formatting, then copy that Word file text to both Design View and 2014.1 Live View files. Please apprise me of your results.
Discussion has been had in at least two separate threads on the Design View disappearance in Fluid Grid. In https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1597260 staff member Lalita wrote "It would be helpful for us if you list the issues you are seeing with fluid grid live view editing." And in https://forums.adobe.com/message/6807088#6807088 staff member Subhadeep wrote "If you can list down the workflows you are trying while editing in Live View & the issues you are facing in doing so, it will help us understand what is amiss & suggest alternative workflows to do the same." I believe I've pointed out issues when attempting to use Live View for functions or work flow that customarily had been done in Design View.
Being a CC subscriber, if someone can provide me with a workflow using other additional Adobe products to get my complex formatted text from Word ultimately to my Dreamweaver web page, be it an image insert or whatever, I would take the suggestions.
The difference in the coding of my example in my original post is as follows.

It is readily apparent that Design View is a much needed code generator in the Dreamweaver product. Live View serves completely other, and needed, purposes. Therefore, I still, after all the forum discussions, do not understand why Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid.
Again Hans thank you for your reply. But unless I'm missing something, citation to the links you provided does not solve my problem. And that problem is this: If Design View is on its way out and thus will be completely removed from Dreamweaver at some point, then how do I provide my information (i.e. complex executive job descriptions) on my website?
Apparently a vote is taking place https://forums.adobe.com/ideas/3922 on the issue of placing Design View back into Fluid Grid. I do not understand why the need for two rather disjunctive functionalities are at the mercy of the democratic process. These are matters of engineering principles not "town hall gatherings". -
Saving the text in text editor changes text line format

I am not preety sure why on saving teh typed text it chnages to this format.
I would like to have my program save it as is typed. Is this possible to do so
and how?
Thanks.Hi Aarav,
Check the internal table used to store the text is having line length 100. Change that to 200 or more . You can see the difference . If still the problem persists, enter each line in the text editor and conclude each line with a carriage return( ENTER )
key press.
Hope this will help you.

Using BSP text editor for long text formatting
Hello,
We are using CRM 7.0. We want to perform simple formatting for the long texts (bold, fonts etc.) We are considering to use thtmlbx <btf:btf> element for text editing. The question is how is it possible to save the formatted text as the long text? Is there any standard way to perform it?
Thanks in advance,
SergeyHello,
In the CRM system there are standard views that display long texts connected to the objects. They are stored in the standard tables and not in the ztables. I just want to enable formatting for this text, to store it formatted in the system and next time the user opens the object to show him the formatted text.
Thanks in advance,
Sergey -
Char. formats(Bold, Underline) in Long text editor not visible in ABAP WD
Hi ABAP experts,
Problem:
I have created long text with using bold and under line formats in long text editor (FM TEXT_ EDIT). I am trying to show same text in WebDynpro using READ_TEXT FM. But FM READ_TEXT is getting long text with HTML tags as shown below for bold and underline and it long text showed as same in WebDynpro application with HTML tags.
Long text shown in webdynpro:
Type your message using the form below. When finished, you can
optionally preview your post by clicking on the <H>"Preview"</> tab.
Otherwise, click the <U><H>"Post Message"</></> button to submit your
message immediately.
Is there any function module available to change format and pass to WebDynpro context?
Thanks
Rajesh YadlaThe normal text editor in Web Dynpro won't handle HTML tags (they get safe encoded as you described). In NetWeaver 7.01 we do introduce a FormattedTextEditor that allows for such formatting. There are APIs to convert from SAPScript based texts to the XHTML FormattedText tags.

Formatting text with a text editor within a website?
My wife wants to use her new iPad 2 to participate in an online community (Ravelry, a knitting and crocheting site). She does a great deal of posting to forums within this community. The text editor for posting in these forums allows users to format their text (bolding, italicize, etc.) as well as to link to other external and internal pages within the site (writers in the forum frequently link to patterns and project images within the site as references in their posts). When she attempts to use the text editor in Ravelry from her iPad, she is unable to select the text she wants to highlight and alter it (by bolding or making it a link). When we select the text, the only options are to copy or cut and we can't, once we've selected the text, tap on the "create a link" button in the text editor. We've tried to use both Safari and Atomic Web browsers, but no luck. Help?
ravelry.com is using WMD-Editor which is a WYWIWYM Markdown editor. Unfortunately it appears their chosen WYWIWYM Markdown editor is no longer or is pretty deprecated.
You as a user are not going to be able to swap out your own editor for use on any website...these editors are hard coded by the website developer...perhaps you could, as already suggested ask them to update to a more robust editor which supports today's standards. Though I doubt you will get far in having them swap out code for this.
A Solution:
Download an alternate browser such as iCabMobile for iOS...I tested ravelry against this browser and the editor does work but is pretty unstable. Funtional but not as intended. Safari cannot load this editor properly at all.
Log into your ravalry account and read their FAQ (http://www.ravelry.com/wiki/pages/UsingTheTextEditor#formatting_bolditalic_lists _and_other_basics)
Simple BBCODE commands for formatting where you do not need to even use the tool bar work fine...just a hassle to memorize.
Hope this helps. -
Using drupal ckeditor profile with wysiwyg . Firefox latest version is apparently not respecting the width of the i-frame text editor box and the text is not wrapping when viewing in source code mode. Chrome and IE are working as expected. Windows 7

Hello ,
I am using Formatted text view. I could put line break, bold such things in that but Could not change color of it. There is no sementiccolor property to formatted text view at the sametime none of the tag I found useful to change color.
Kindly Help.
Thanks,
HemaHi,
You are not able to change the color of text view using tags as like bold .
but one work around is you can add another textview to show the text in another color using semantic color property. Dynamic UI Element programming will help you in this context.

Hi friends,
I am create pure E4 RCP Application but E4 support Help, editor and view management, text editors, resource views, preference and properties or not ? and how to support? any other solution ?
i am confusing E3 use or E4 in my application ?
Please help me friend.Ad help: There was a recent thread on this forum where someone reported
that he managed to include the help stuff
Ad text-editors: No not really although the base framework
org.eclipse.text and org.eclipse.jface.text can be used
Ad preference: The core stuff is there but the preference dialog as you
know it from the IDE is not available
I think the biggest amount of work is to get a decent text-editor for
your application. It naturally depends on what text you need to edit if
it is pure ASCII it is trivial, syntax coloring is not a big deal either.

After applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, I have provided content to
the page more than 100 lines and try to format the text from ribbon actions(format text area). On mouse over of font or fore color, the control jumps to the highlighted content area and not able to select the color. The page scrolls down and not able to click
on any action.
Consider this scenario also.
A content editor web part is added toward the bottom of the page.
Text is added to this (direct in the web part, not via a 'content link')
You highlight some text and go to the Markup Style dropdown...
Everything is fine until you hover over the "Paragraph" markup style, and suddenly the page scrolls to the web part you are editing, and you didn't have a chance
to click and apply the "Paragraph" formatting
I have tried testing this with text typed directly into the Content Editor, text pasted in from somewhere else, and text pasted in from somewhere else using "Paste as
Plaintext" option in the ribbon. In each scenario, I get the same results.
Furthermore, I have also tested this in both IE8 and IE9 and get the same results.
I can get it to occur most regularly with trying to apply the Paragraph "Markup Style" but
I've also seen this happen with Font Size (any font size). It's very frustrating since you aren't able to actually apply the formatting you need because the page jumps before you can click. Has anyone experienced this before. Any feedback would
help.Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that after applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, Text editor ribbon actions cause page to automatically scroll down (while applying formatting).
I try to apply full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, the ribbon is missing after I scroll down to the web part. And I cannot apply the "Paragraph" markup style to the content.
I recommend to use the SharePoint core styles to preserve the native functionality and GUI.
By design in SharePoint, the ribbon is always at the top. When you select the content, you can apply the "Paragraph" markup style in the ribbon.
Thanks,
Linda Li
