Formatting 3-D bar plot

I am wondering how to custom format a 3D bar plot.  I can plot the matrix successfully - but I have not been able to figure out how to custom label the X and Y axis into the custom bins that I have created (not equally distributed).  Any suggestions - I have checked out the property nodes - but I can't find one that works.  Thanks for your help!

I think I figured it out - I am using value pair property nodes to programatically set the x and y axis - not very sophisticated - but it works.  You just have to set the tick major count to 1 to get rid of the scale that automatically gets written.

  • LV 2009 error bar plots suggestions

I have mentioned my mixed feelings about the new error bar plot introduced in 2009 on the info-labview list and have been asked to move this discussion to this forum.
    So there it goes:
Introducing the possibility to natively display plots with error bars associated with each data point is a nice touch that brings LV one step closer to being a full-fledged data analysis and representation environment. However, the feature is limited in allowing only a single axis error bar (and on the Y axis only). This might come from NI's hardware bias (time recording of waveforms, in which the time axis does not have any "error" to it, being clock driven). Some of us use LV for a tad more than just recording waveforms and displaying them. We use complex instruments, process our data extensively, and when times come to plot a XY graph (and this is true for higher dimensionality data too), each coordinate (X, Y, etc) of each data point may be affected by a statistical or experimental uncertainty.
In this kind of situation, each data point should be represented as a center point with two orthogonal error bars (with different sizes, and possibly, as offered in the new error plot, different plus and minus error bars). In most cases, the plus and minus error bars will be identical (representing the standard deviation of the data), so it would be advantageous to have an option that allows specifying that and avoid passing twice the same array of error bars to the plot formatting VI.
Note that introducing this feature wouldautomatically bring up the request to have fitting algorithms that take this kind of dual axis error bar representation into account (which most data analysis software do nowaday).
I hope this brief suggestion will be supported by other fellow LabViewers...

    All,
These are great suggestions, and we always enjoy getting feedback from real-world situations where LabVIEW could help out more.  I really think this should be thrown on the LabVIEW Idea Exchange. Our development team looks over all the suggestions there, and it would have much more visibility than just being posted in this thread.
Also, while you are there, be sure to vote on ideas that you like!  Some of the top ideas are so obvious, you will be surprised they weren't implemented already!

  • How to get bar plot stacked in one graph?

    Hi there,
I am having a problem trying to get a stacked bar plot in one graph. I attached two images to show you what it looks like now and how I would like it to look.
At the moment I am making two x,y clusters, bundle these into an array and give that as input to the XY graph. This gives me the image where the bar plots are shown next to each other. However, I want them to be shown on top of each other and I cannot find a way to do this.
I searched this forum and the help and looked at the available properties for the XY graph, but it seems impossible. So I was wondering if anyone here is able to help me solve this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steph.

Thanks! Maybe I am not understanding the terminology and a "stack graph" may not be what I am looking for, but here is my small example.
    DATE
    DATA 1
    DATA 2
    1/2008
    3
    4
    2/2008
    4
    8.5
    3/2008
    6.58
    38.9
I would like to do a bar graph where DATA 1 AND DATA 2 overlap each other like Steph's example of a stack graph.
and the "DATE" will be on 'x-axis'  while data 1 and data 2 will be values show on the y-axis. (Note: data 1 will always be data 2, it will show up with two colors where one color is always taller than the other).
Is this stack graph the right path? I am new at using the graphing icons in Labview, I do not even know how to I would go about loading these as inputs to the VI.
Please advise me on the right path. Thanks again!

  • Stacked Bar Plots in Mixed Signal Graph

Is there a way to have a stacked bar plot compiled and displayed in the mixed signal graph indicator from multiple plots as inputs?

I think we are getting closer but I do not see what I would expect in a stacked bar graph in excel.  Please take a look at the data in the array in column 525.  It has more than just qty 2 of the value 1 in many of its cells.  Hence I would expect to see a spike greater than 2 which is what I see on the chart that you provided.  I did the task in excel and it was easy to do and have attached it for your reference.   It is the same data that I provided above in the prior vi.

I am unable to access my mail account on my iphone, which I have been able to do previously. I press the mail icon, the page refreshes to the mail format page - blue bar top and bottom, white text space in the middle.... and that is as far as it goes. It does not list my email accounts or offer any.

Close the mail app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
then do a reset, no data loss.  Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

  • How to adjust the width of a bar plot?

    Hi,
I have to draw a bar plot and when I wire values to the chart for some reason they are almost 1 inch think for each number. I was wondering how to adjust the width such taht it is something more like 2 mm per entry?

What you seem to be running into is the autoscale on the X-scale. Right click on the X scale and turn off autoscaling. You will then have to manually set the scale to get the width that you want.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Sannie,
change the order of the plots. Your RunAvg should be plot0, while the barplot is plot1…
There's a reason, why BMPs are banned in the forum: their size! Please convert your images to (real) JPG or (even better for FP or BD images) PNG before posting them!

  • Missing Tool, Format and Formula Bars

I am new to Numbers and cannot figure out how to bring up the Tool Bar, the Format bar and the Formula bar also the Sheets pane on a spreadsheet. Is it because I cannot find the "View" button?

    Hi Norm,
Well, if you don't have the Toolbar showing, then you won't find the View button.
Fortunately, that's not the only place to find "Show Toolbar."
You can also toggle the display of the Toolbar using the keyboard shortcut shown in the menu—option-command-T.

  • BO 4.0 webi: Conditional formatting on a bar graph

    Hi,
Is it possible to fiormat a Bar graph conditionally in BO 4.0(SAP BO BI: web intelligence)..
I want to create a bar graph that displays bar in Green color if the value of bar is greater than target set and Red if it is less than target, which is not doable with BO xi3.1 version.
Please let me know if this can be doable with latest version of BO 4.0 webi.
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi Bharath,
One workaround in 3.1 I have found is to use a stacked bar chart and then create two variables out of the measure you want to be green if over a certain amount and make the formula:
    =[Measure Object] Where([Measure Object] >= 10,000)
and the 2nd variable formula for red:
=[Measure Object] Where ([Measure Object] <10,000)
Then place these two measure variables on top of each other where the measure values go. Then go into the color palette and make a custom palette with the first two colors green and red see if that gives you what you are looking for.
    Thanks

  • Chart Formatting Question: Line Bar Combo

    Hello -
I have a quick question regarding the order of labels displayed in the legend on a line bar combo chart. I have figured out how to rearrange the order of bars in the chart (the order is determined by the order of fields in the criteria section), however, OBIEE seems to always put the "line" field before the "bar" fields in the legend.
I was wondering if there is a way to set the chart to display the "line" field following the "bar" fields in the legend?
    Thanks for the help!
    Jason

    Hi Jason,
Go for Pivot Chart rather than Chart... and
Apply Order by s as you want inside pivot....
Previously even i got the order by problem in chart.. but trying the pivot chart, i resolved my issue...
    So give a try..
Hope you know about pivot chart. Select Chart Only option from drop-down available for chart position
    Thanks & Regards

  • How do I fix the format of plot lines for an arbitrary number of sets of data plotted on the same x-y graph?

I have written a VI to control an LCR meter and perform sweep functions. I have two x-y graphs on my front panel (one for each of 2 measured parameters). The VI is designed with a button to take a measurement, plot the data, and then wait for another event (like write data, clear plot, or measure again). The user can take simultaneous measurements and these are plotted on top of the data already there in the same x-y graphs (using an array of clusters with shift registers). There is no limit on how many sets of data can be on the x-y graph.
Now, my issue is in formatting the plot lines (color, thickness, marker type). I can fix the first plot line by adjusting the parameters of the x-y graph. However, I also want to control the format of all consecutive plot lines. How can I do this for an arbitrary number of lines? The main thing I want to do is to have all of them show the square marker type (the default is no marker type, just a line).
    Thanks!

    Hi maximum23,
You can use properties of plot to format the plot lines. You just have to select Active plot using property and then select color and line width etc..
You can define color and width etc parameter by asking user or you can just make them default.

  • XY Graph, 2D Error Bar, Legend, Multi Plot Help? Please modify the VI

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST and HELP!
Please help with this VI and make it an instructive example for me and other novices like me who come across this typical example.
A typical problem in plotting data is as follows: On the SAME plot (Y-axis = Amplitude vs. X-axis = Time), plot the curves Amp1, Amp2, Amp3, ... coming from sample1, sample2, sample3, ...
Furthermore, there is Error1, Error2, Error3, ... associated with Amp1, Amp2, Amp3,...., which also needs to be plotted. In order to distinguish between these curves, one may use different
colors and show a legend that reads Amp1 (say black), Amp2 (say red), and Amp3 (say green). The plot then becomes complete and conveys data very conveniently.
The attached VI makes an attempt to plot Amp1 and Amp2 using XY Graph and also 2D Error Bar plot (to show error bars). There is one slight problem. The legend does not show what it is supposed
to show. Can someone fix this? If I plot two curves, the legend should show Amp1 and Amp2, if I plot three curves, the legend should show Amp1, Amp2, Amp3, and so on.
I don't want to see the default Plot 0, Plot 1, or whatever. Also, it would be nice to dynamically control the symbol, color, curve style etc, as we keep adding more and more curves to the plot.
Once this problem is fixed, I know I can easily extend it to make it plot more than just two curves in a dynamic way. I could use for loops with shift registers, etc to plot any number of curves on a single plot.
Believe me, I have searched for other posts and cannot find a simple example like the one I have posted here. Many examples I found have confused me more than helped me.
I believe that if this problem is solved in a simple way, many others will find this example very instructive. So by helping me, you help many other people as well!
Thank you in advance. Please see the attached files (the VI, and an example data file that I just created)

Some members have pointed out that this problem has already been resolved (see the link below).
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Dinamically-handle-legend-names-using-property-nodes/td-p/1479572
I did verify that this works for XY Graph, but not for 2D Error Plot.
I need both legend and error bars. Shame on LabVIEW for not making such a basic plotting requirement easy and trasparent.
There are many clever people who can find work arounds, but that is a not a correct approach.

  • "print" command in Mathscript not saving plots in BMP format!

    Hi guys,
i am trying to create a vi that will automatically generate a pdf report for my project. I found a way to save the report directly as pdf (that is, i "print" my report to a virtual PDF printer (PDFCreator) that saves the file automatically to a specific folder with the date/time as its name. So this was the first step to making the procedure automatic).
I am stuck in the next level, which is adding to the report not labview's bad-looking graphs, but the plots generated through the Mathscript.
So, after adding as input "a" my data to the mathscript node, i use the following commands:
    figure
    plot(a)
    print image
Now, what this sequence does is make a nice plot of my data and then save it as "image.eps" in the default folder.
However, the eps format is not at all useful to me as i cannot import the plot with the "Append Image To Report.vi". This vi supports only BMP, GIF, WMF, EMF and JPG formats.
So, i want to save the plot from mathscript as BMP. This is supposedly possible, however i have not been able to find a way. The "print" command help for Labview 2011 Mathscript reads:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/373123B-01/lvtextmath/msfunc_print/
    Syntax
    print
    print(a)
    print(file)
    print(a, file)
    Description
Print the plot window or save it into a file in either BMP or EPS format. If the plot window to save is an image plot or a 3D plot, the file must be in BMP format. For other kinds of plots, both BMP and EPS formats are supported.
There is no way for me to choose which format i want and it automatically chooses eps. If i use the command
    print image.bmp
it gives me back an error. So, adding the .bmp ending is not the way to go.
All in all, it is crucial for me to export the plot in BMP format (so as to import it in the report generation), but i cannot find a way, althouth it is supposed to work.
    Any ideas????
    Thanks
    PS. I run Labview 2011 SP1
