Formatting a Series

Hi,
I'm trying to "thicken" a series line within a chart. When I highlight the chart and choose series options no pop up box appears. Has anybody got any thoughts on why this must be the case ?
Many thanks
Darrell.

Cheers Jamie,
I can't see this option when I right mouse click on my series. It's a simple line graph and all I want to do is increase the weight of the line.
I thought this would have been in series options, but when clicking on that option no pop up box appears.
I'm using Crystal XI embedded within an installation of IFS an ERP system - not sure if this is part of the problem.
Cheers

  • Formatting data series in charts

    Hello all,
Need help in how to format data series used in charts(pie and bar). The charts show proper data but i need the amounts in the charts to be formatted using comma separators and $ symbol. Had tried using the NSTR functions and these work properly for table data , but not for charts.  Could someone pls conform if this is a known limitation with charts or is this yet another issue with ehp1 ? If so , are there any other alternatives for this approach.
    Vc version is 7.01 SP5 (ehp1)
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Rgds

    Did you try:
    OracleBI/web/app/res/s_.../popbin/
    EX:
    line.pcxml Look for <SeriesDefinition ...
we modified the line width and a few other things. You'll have to modify all the pcxml files for all the chart types you want to customize.

  • How to format individual series in stacked bar chart

    Hi,
Is there any way I can format (sort order, or transperency) of each series individually in a horizontal stacked bar chart?
I am trying to create a gantt chart, where I am using two series
    1. Start Date
    2. Duration
The function of series one (Start Date) is only to place the start position of the horizontal bar of series 2 (duration) in the year time frame.
After creation of the stacked bar chart, I want to make the reansperency of series 1 (start Date) as 0 so that the duration bar apears floating and gives the feel of Gantt chart.
    Thanks

  • Time / Date format in series section of a graph

    Hello,
I am trying to use some data imported from excel in a graph, but when I set the series of the graph to a field that contains time data (hh:mm), it does not convert it properly.
Is there a way to represent this time data on the y axis of the graph correctly.
    Ronan

    Hello Ayuba,
There is something the team might want to check out. Time formatted excel imports are not displaying well.
    To simulate the issue
create small table in Excel with column formatted as "time"
Import and see the displayed value in the data source view. It's far from correct displayed time
The only way you can do something about it is to set the drop down of the column to text and use Timevalue and text to transform to correct time.
If you just display time in excel as "general" same issue occurs with the import.

  • Mouse Over Format Control for Series

I have a combination chart and would like to display the column portion with no digits after the decimal.  I would like to display the line portion with 1 digit after the decimal.
Will Xcelsius allow individual formatting of series or only global formatting for a Mouse Over?

If you want to do individual formatting of Mouse Over effect with combination charts, you should select the format in Excel and choose Mouse-Over format "General" in Xcelsius.
Keep in mind, to select the "General" format in Xcelsius first, then format your Excel-Data and rebind the chart-component after formatting in Excel.

  • How do I remove markers in a line-format series in a side-by-side bar graph

I have fairly simple report that is formatted as a side-by-side bar chart. I need one series to be formatted as a line, which I have done; however, the line always appears with markers at each data point. I want the markers gone. I've tried myriad combinations of settings and options, but nothing makes the evil marker go away.
The frustrating thing is that I have another Crystal report from a different project that behaves precisely this way, but duplicating the settings from that report in this new report does not turn off the markers..so, I know it must be possible, but darned if I've been able to figure out the magic words to make it happen. I even tried copying that report and changing the datasource to my own, but that removes the "good" report, and forces me to recreate the chart - and that puts me right back where I started, with markers on the series formatted as a line.
I figure there must be a way to format that series as a line and eliminate the markers.
    CR version 11.5.7.608
    Any ideas or suggestions welcome.
    -David

    Cyndi,
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Unfortunately, there is no option for Line Type in the Series Options dialog available when I select the line that has the unwanted markers. I agree entirely there should be, but there isn't. The only options I have are "Riser Shape" (which gives me three options), and "Show Selected Series As", which gives me only "Riser, Line, Area, Default for Chart Type." There are no other options on that dialog, and no additional options appear when I select "Line."
That's very much part of the frustration here; it seems the problem should be as readily resolved as you indicate. It makes me wonder if there is a bug in the particular version of CR I have installed. Others in my group have experienced this same problem as well.
Thanks again, but I hope someone else might share my pain

  • Format a graph series riser as a picture.

I am attempting to format a series rise as a picture.  Selecting Format Series Rise, selecting Picture, selecting a Picture to use (in which the example window shows how it will look) then clicking ok.  This fails to set the riser to the picture.  The series is plotted as a split x-axis item but the main x-axis items can not be set to pictures either.  Any one else experience difficulty in doing this?  Thanks in advance.  Using XI R2.

Wow, there's no plug-in to shorten this process? As a iMovie user, I often create a montage of still frames at the end of projects. Having to go to File>Export>Using QuickTime Conversion, etc. is a lot slower process than in iMovie to create still frames. I tried using AppleScript and Automator to automate the process, but couldn't figure it out.

  • What are the advantages of using file.ser ???

    hi
actually i just know a little bit about this file format (file.ser), i know that it can handle serialized objects in the same order that they have written. but i don know :
    how it works?
what are the benefits that i can have from this file format?
how can i delete a particular object from this file?
    thanks in advance

Dude, you're lost... off the bottom of the page... time to start scrolling up again ;-)
    Start here: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Programming/serialization/
I know that it can handle serialized ...Umm no, not "handle", so much as "contain" serialized objects.
An SER file contains serialized objects.
what are the benefits that i can have from this file format?None, per se... it's only a file format. The advantages lie in a "quick light framework for the persistence of java objects".... serialisation.
how can i delete a particular object from this file?Umm... you can't manipulate the file, not directly anyway, well not safely.
Desialise all objects in the file, and reserialise them to a new file, skipping the offending object.
Seriously read through that tutorial. It's very interesting.
    Cheers. Keith.

  • Possible to use formulas in chart series data?

Hello, I need to build chart series from manual values. This is possible but Excel accepts only raw values. When I try to use a calculated value, excel rejects the series format.
    =SERIES("Supply";(Sheet1!$A$97;Sheet1!$H$47);(Sheet3!$B$10;Sheet3!$B$10);4)
is accepted. I need to adjust it to something like
    =SERIES("Supply";(DATEVALUE("31.12.2014");MAX(Sheet1!A:A;Sheet1!H:H));(Sheet3!$B$10/365;Sheet3!$B$10/365);4)
this however doesn't fit. Does Excel provide a format for inline evaluating without need to use auxiliary cells?

It is not possible to evaluate formulas within a Series formula. You can use Names to calculate individual values from formulas, return an array of values or use a dynamic Name to return an array of cells and use Names in Series formulas.
However for your purposes I don't think even use of Names would help; from your first example your formulas return multiple cell areas (albeit only one cell in each area) and your second example aims to return an array with each formulas calculating each
element, you'd need a Name of Names which I don't think would work.
Even if you could do it the way you want I think it would be a bad approach. Why not make use of cells, there's no shortage of them and it would make things much easier for maintenance.

  • Formatting output to console

I am having problems formatting a series of string outputted to the console. What I am doing looks like this:
    Title Title Title Title Title
    info info info info info
    info info info info info
    info info info info info
Each line of 'info' will be read in from a file, but the problem is that the info can vary in length, so there is no way use " " 's to properly align the output so all possible 'info' strings will look good. I know in C++ I could use setW(x) which would help, but I am not aware of anything similiar in Java. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Best format for family history books?

I am about to adapt into iBooks format a series of short biographies I have written about various ancestors. The books will be for private distribution to family and friends.
I have experimented with the Basic, Modern, Classic, Craft and Biography formats but none seems to correspond exactly to what I am looking for.
My content would consist typically of text (not more than 20,000 words), family-style photos, a few maps and a few MP3 snippets of songs.
Before plunging into the adaptations, I thought I would look for advice on this forum.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me, especially those of you who may have produced similar type books.

It's really up to you in terms of what look and feel you want. You could always start with one of the above templates, then adapt it to meet your needs. Regardless of the template, they all have access to the same widgets.
You can change lots of things in the original template if you wish. For example:
    font size, style, alignment, colour
    layout of textboxes and images
position and appearance/visiblility of locked features
    etc

I recently bought an HP Officejet 7110 Wide Format Printer and I have tried several times to print black on HP Semi Glossy A4 paper C6818A and each time it comes out as an almost dark brown off-black. Hi Chris,
That is a Category graph (2-D Line).
A Scatter Plot will allow you to change the Scale and Steps on the X axis.
Click on the Chart (Graph) and Format Panel > Axis
To get a Connection Line or a Trendline on the Scatter Plot, Format Panel > Series
For a Scatter Plot, put your X and Y data in Header Columns (or Header Rows).
    Regards,
    Ian.
