Formatting application missing?

Hola,
One of the associates here is trying to burn a cd, and it almost immediately says 'The burn could not be completed, because the formatting application could not be found.' How do I fix this? Is it one of those things I can copy from a Mac that is fuctioning correctly? If so, Where do I find it?

Can you tell us what Macs you've tried to burn stuff on? I've noticed that you don't list a specific model. Doing so will help in a big way with troubleshooting.
A "native" burning application was incorporated into later builds of OS 9.x. You or the powers that be within your company should consider updating to OS 9.2.2 if possible. Three steps will be needed.
1. 9.0.x-->9.1
2. 9.1-->9.2.1
3. 9.2.1-->9.2.2
Apple KB article 75288 covers Mac OS 9 service releases.
Note that if your Macs have PowerPC 600 series processors (i.e. they are Performas or Power Macs older than '97), you can't upgrade past 9.1 without a kludge.
Sonic/Roxio no longer sells Toast for OS 9.x. If your Macs are of 1999 or later vintage, you could get OS X and Toast 6 or 7. Try your luck on eBay if you must do so in order to get Toast 5.

What system are you running? Have you tried going to the Canon website to download and install the latest drivers for that model?

Applications missing from Creative Cloud Desktop application

If you are unable to locate a specific application then it is likely the computer you are using does not meet the current system requirements. In the following example you can see that After Effects and Premiere Pro are missing from the list of available applications.
When I look at the System information for my Windows installation I am informed that I have a 32-bit version of Windows 8.
This means that I will be unable to install Premiere Pro or After Effects as my current computer does not meet the minimum system requirements. You can find a list of Creative Cloud system requirements at Adobe Creative Cloud – Tech specs.

If you have confirmed that your computer meets and exceeds all of the listed System requirements then please see CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed.

I have a lot of problems. First og all the system will not accept my account and even I have downloaded CPLauncher and can see the software, I will not genereate password. Nothing works, and if do not, I have to stop paying, because my boss are a little angry.
He says: We pay and it do not work. Find other software. We can’t afford you sitting doing nothing. If Adobe makes such a software that causes us trouble, we will change to something else, we do not need Aobe for our projects.
So Jeff – The software are very complicated, it can run, It can’t genereate license, and on top of all this, I have to defend Adobe. Well – I will not. I have been fighting in 3 weeks and this week is the last. Monday morning I will stop using Adobe coud and stop my membership.

Installer help application missing

Hi,
I just got a mini mac, and I re-install everything, updates new OS to 10.5.6 from apple and everything works fine.
However, when I tried to install the "Stuffit Expander 2009", I got the error message saying "Missing Critical Component. Installer help application missing."
Could somebody help me? I am new to MAC.....

I just got the same message. I downloaded an Expander 2009 .dmg from VersionTracker.com and it installed just fine - give that a shot.

I have updated toFirefox 19.0 now xml format is missing ,all the xml files are coming as a text

Technique to undo a character format application?

Seems that answers to complicated questions are a bit sparse in these parts, but I'll try again anyway
I'm wondering if there is any technique to reliably undo a character format application change; that is, an application of properties to a range of text with SetTextProps(). It is fairly simple to remember a list of original properties (PropVals) and the original text range (TextRange), then reapply those original properties to the whole range. However, within a text range, each character can have its own unique set of properties. So, remembering one set of original properties is not enough... seems I have to remember the properties of every single character in the range, the reapply character-by-character, in order to ensure that the new property application is completely undone.
When you apply a character format in the GUI, FM reliably allows an undo, restoring each affected character to its original state. Surely it isn't remembering a PropVals array for every single character (?) I'm just wondering if there is another trick here. It's entirely possible if FM is internally using another trick, it isn't one that I can feasibly replicate.

Imagine that someone applies a character format that wipes all that out:

I want to restore the text to its original format. In the GUI, the FrameMaker Undo command successfully does that. I have a script that applies formatting and I'd like to replicate the undo, if its feasible. Naturally, the FM undo will not undo a script action.
I am talking about text ranges only. By the way, how do you store a "safety paragraph?" Using the clipboard is not an option in this case.

PDF Page Sizes - Large format sizes missing (Acrobat Std 11)

Hi All,
We are an Architectural practice that has recently purchased a number of Acrobat Standard 11, licences. This is to supplement the 6 creative suites we already have.
We have discovered however, that Standard does not have large format page sizes available such as A2, A1, A0 etc. Why? I have installed these as standalone licences on 5 other computers to date, all with the same missing information.
The Adobe suites we have are standard and only have acrobat 9, they have these sizes, so how can a higher version have them missing?
This problem is all over the web including these forums. The latest i could find was nearly a year ago. I am hoping Adobe has created a patch to fix this problem since.
Attempts to add custom sizes to match the suites indicates they already exist! We can only create the sizes we need if we use different names, which is problematic for us as many of our settings look for this name to setup our printing.

I have the same problem. There is a reasonably good workaround. You can permanently define as many additional pages sizes as you needed including non-standard sizes. I have one that is 36" X 90".
Here's how (I'm using Widows 7):
1. From the Start Dialog, choose Devices and Printers in the lower right.
2. On the Devices and Printers control panel right-click on Adobe PDF and select Printing Preferences
3. On the Adobe PDF Printing Preferences dialog click the "Add" button
4. On the Add Custom Paper Size dialog enter a name that will make sense to you like "A1" or, in my case "36 X 90"
5. On the Add Custom Paper Size dialog select the correct unit of measure and enter the width and height
6. On the Add Custom Paper Size dialog click the "Add/Modify" button
7. The new size is now available in the Adobe PDF Page Size drop-down. Select it. Click "OK"
8. On the Devices and Printers control panel right-click on Adobe PDF and select Printing Preferences
9. On the Adobe PDF Printing Preferences dialog you will see that the new size is NOT selected. Select it again. This time it will become the current selection. Making a paper size the current select may not be needed for all applications.
After step 6, if you open an application the new size should appear in the paper size drop-down from Print > Properties > Paper/Quality tab > Advanced button. It may also appear in the drop-down of the Adobe PDF Setting tab.

Internet Tethering application missing

I'm delighted with my new iPhone 3GS - a little surprised that it's only 802.11b/g not 802.11n, but I suppose that's to do with battery life.
The main problem, though, is that the Internet Tethering application is missing. Is this to do with my service provider (Vodacom in South Africa)?
Is there somewhere that I can download it? It doesn't seem to be on the iTunes site.

Hallo to everybody. I'm experiencing the same problem. Yesterday morning i received a new iphone 3gs bought from apple store on the web. I connected it to Itunes. It said everything is ok, enjoy. But when i went to settings/network i was supposed to find internet tethering but sadly, very sadly, there was nothing. My carrier does allow internet tethering as i was used to do it with samsung omnia. I bought iphone 3gs expecially for that, and bluetooth which also doesnt' work, but i'm not having nothing.
Does anybody can help me......
I got it yesterday and i just connected it to itunes. I don't think i made something wrong.

Deployed Application Missing JSP files

I have deployed an web appliclation Using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 to a remote Oracle AS When I look at the Deployed Application on the Server I only see the Servlet, the JSP files are missing. I looked at the .ear and .war files and the have all the components in them but the JSPs seem to be missiong from the server. I did not get any error messages from the deployment log

The only odd thing I can see is that UNDEFINED statment in the log.
I followed the recipe for Deployment from the tutorial so I don't understand why the JSPs are missing.

I have two version's of JDeveloper running on my machine when you pointed out to me that I was using 10.1.3.0 I downloaded 10.1.3.5 and used it instead. However we still have a problem. One our test and production machine we are running Oracle AS 10.1.2 with Java SDK 1.4. Now the documantation says that this supports JSP runtime 2.0 and Servlet Runtime 2.4. My problem is I still have to get this working for Oracle AS 10.1.2 with Java SDK 1.4. Here's what happens when I deployed to that environment.

Full System Recovery with Time Machine - Applications missing

Hi,
My Macbook recently met a nasty end by a glass of wine and ended up completely dead. Not to fear, I thought, it's all backed up on my Time Machine. So I got hold of a Mac Mini and started to attempt to restore my system using Time Machine. When I got the new mini, I ran my Leopard install disc, and followed the restore from Time Machine process. The first problem was that the version of OSX on my deceased macbook was newer than the fresh install I was putting on the mini, so the TM restore couldn't work. So, I continued the clean install, got OSX up and running and then ran the software update so that it was all up to speed (now running 10.5.8 - same as the macbook was).
Next onto Migration Assistant to restore from my Time Machine backups. All hunky dory, except that Migration Assistant told me that there were 0.0kb in the profiles. Once I'd peeled myself off the ceiling, I tried it anyway. Everything transferred across OK - settings, files, profiles, but no applications. Lots of money's worth of iLife, iWork, CS5, Office for Mac - missing. Files, but no way of opening them!
I had a root round in the TM backup and they were all there, but nothing at all transferred across in the restore.
What have I missed here? Should I drag and drop each application over from the TM folder to my new Applications folder? Surely the risk here is that I'll miss some system files in Application Support etc.
I really need some help here. Most of my applications don't have install discs as they were downloaded either from Apple/MS/Adobe etc.

Not a fan nor expert on TM, but anyway you ca pull the old drive out of the WineBook & use something like this...

Number Format was missing in XML report

In the RTF report template, I formated all data by MS word and had number format like #,##0.00, then I reviewed the PDF output in local with the XML data, and it displayed in the correct format. But when I ran the same report by concurrent program in EBS, I found some data missing the format, e.g
The number should be "123,456.00", but it became "123,456."
It's strange that this happen sometimes, I don't know if it is a bug..
Please give me a hand, thanks a million.

Hi.
Maybe your XML output from concurrent request is influenced by settings for "ICX: Numeric Characters" profile option. I have similar issue now as well...

Labview Application missing SubVI's, totally stumped

Hello. I am working on a VI that is a simple thermocouple datalogger. I have created it in Labview 2013 (latest patch) on a Windows 7 Machine. It works correctly on the development machine with Labview installed. It uses custom drivers for an Advantech USB 4718 data acqusition module. These drivers were downloaded directly from the manufacturer.
When I build an application and copy it over to a different machine (running windows 8) I get a laundry list of missing SubVIs when I try to run it (see image). This is despite installing all relevant data aquisition drivers (I have verified that the module works with the manufacturers own daq software) the latest version of Labview 2013 run time engine, DAQmx, etc.... I can't think of anything else that should be installed but Im totally stumped.
Anything else I can try? Is it because the Dev machine is windows 7 but the application machine is windows 8? I'm new to building applications from labview, so I'm not sure what I may be missing. Thank you.

It seems that most of these VIs are used by the DAQNaviAssistant from Advantech.
You should ask Advantech if there are known issues when building executables in LV which contain these ExpressVIs.
Also, you can re-build your EXE without optimizing the EXE content by de-selecting all checkmarks on the "Additional Exclusions" tab. It is possible that one of these options remove these subVIs.
What bothers me is that it runs on the development machine... which indicates that the EXE itself should really contain everything what it needs (except driver functions, namely DLLs of course).

Cairngorm 3 sample applications - missing libraries

I have checked out the sample applications from http://opensource.adobe.com/svn/opensource/cairngorm3/trunk/samples/insync/ repository, but these samples reference Cairngorm libraries, which are missing. What versions should I use to be able to build these samples?

Address book application missing!

no address book in my applications folder. when i do a search of my hard drive address book is missing. how do i reinstall it?

I don't currently have Panther installed on any of my Macs, and I cannot parallel what you have done. To the best of my knowledge this option should not be there, or at least should not be what you expect it to be.
I believe you have only used the Restore disk to restore "bundled applications" -- see:

AB is not a bundled application, but part of the OSX.
