Formatting Charts

Hi all
I have read a lot of posts and blogs now, and I am struggling to see how to format charts beyond the basic properties in the Design Studio user interface. Clearly we need to use CSS, but I am struggling to see how we identify the elements of a chart to apply the CSS to.
I have seen posts that suggest using the F12 developer tools in IE and I am doing that, but what I am seeing does not relate to the posts in this forum.
Please, please please could someone give me some instructions?  SAP seems to provided zero instructions so far.
I have a custom style sheet that I am using to apply styles to text boxes, list boxes, etc so far. How do I identify the elements of a chart?
Thanks
Al.

The following is an example of hitting F12 in IE after executing a Design Studio app. How would you work out how to identify the legend, to be able to define the font?
Or even the colour? Someone in a post said:
          .chart1 g.v-m-legend g.v-label.viz-legend-valueLabel g.v-row path {fill: green;}
Why does that start 'g.v-m-legend' and not something higher up the chain?
Why was 'v-content' not included, or 'v-groups'?
(and many more questions.)
Any ideas please?
Thanks
Al.

    Hello all,
In my deployed CR 8.5 application the "Format Chart" fly out menu does launch any subsequent dialogs. When I select a chart and right click and hover over "Format Chart" the fly out menu appears with "Template", "General", "Titles" and "Grid" but nothing happens when I select one of them.I have the "sscsdk80.dll" deployed with the application.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    TIA

    Hi Chriss,
You can do it by changing the tick density mode to automatic or change fixed value in  tick density under value axis in format chart option. PFB screenshots.

  • Formatting Chart Axis

Is it possible to format the y axis on a chart to show
currency amounts instead of just numbers?
    Thanks.

Each Axis has a labelFunction property which takes a function
as input. The provided function gets called to determine the label
of axis labels. One can format the string as required and return it
    from this function.

  • How do I move a formatted chart into a email message?

I sometimes need to create a chart in Pages that I would need to move into the body of an email using iMail. However, when I highlight the chart, attempt to drag and drop, I lose all the formatting of the chart. How do I move a chart over in this case?
    Howard

I apologize, the program delivered by Apple is not named iMail but Mail.app.
One would think it should be easy on a Mac platform to just drag and drop items across their different programs but it doesn't appear to work that way.
Mr "One" may think what he want, this will not change the program's behavior !
Drag and drop doesn't work between Pages and Mail.
This is why I carefully wrote:
    +Select the chart,+
    +*copy to the clipboard*+
+*then paste in the body of the mail.*+
    Your question was not
    "Why isn't Drag & Drop working ?"
    but
"How do I move a chart over in this case?"
Of course, if you don't take care of the response, you will get odd results.
For me it's time to switch off. "See" you tomorrow.

Use line bar combo chart type, select two columns for Y Axis and one metric for line. select chart type as 2D or 3d. you will get the expected results.

  • Problem with formatting Chart

    Backround:
I have years going in Column-wise starting with 2008 and going down. I have percentages in the next column going down. I highlight the percentages and start a bar graph. Now how do I add the years that correspond to the percentages (do I have to set up a column header or something - I didn't need to do that with excel - I just had to highlight and put in data series to put in the years)
    2. The Y axis shows ".05" for say 5% - how do I make it look like 5% instead of .05?

    Sure there is some way:
Use the forum as it is described in the Terms of use:

    enter the forum's search area,
    restrict the area to Numbers
    enter the complex keyword "percentages"

  • Line Chart Formatting in HFR

I am using Financial Reporting for HFM and need a few line charts. I have to display the values of the respective points on the line chart which I did using the display point values checkbox in the Format Chart. However, the values are in $ or % and those prefixes ($, % etc) are not showing up on chart values(just displaying numbers which are rounded without any decimal places). I have formatted the grid where the chart is fetching its data but that is not helping. Anyone has any idea, how this can be done. Please help.

    Hi,
The design mode is not the right place to edit lines, bars etc for Charts.
You can select individual lines from the Preview Mode and edit them.
    Hope this helps!

  • Chart formats

    Hi,
I want to create chart based reports using HTML DB but I also want to be able to extract output from it too. For example,I navigate through my application to a page containing a chart based report , click save as and then mail this off to a third party who doesnt have access to the website? This wont always be the case but for some of the report recipients it is all that is practical.
This doesnt seem to work with SVG graphs.
I note that I could do this if I chose to have simple html format charts - but all these allow you to do is have bar graphs - can a html chart be of any other format (eg. line or pie graphs)?
I'm starting to think that perhaps Oracle Reports server might be better for my needs - which is a shame as I've really taken to this product and learnt a lot quickly. I doubt the learning curve will be as easy with Reports!
    Regards,
    Tim

    Tim,
As the source of an SVG chart is XML, you will not be able to right-click and save/email it.
However, you can use Windows built-in screen capture utility or a 3rd party tool to take a screen shot, save it as a GIF, and then email that.
HTML Charts only support bar charts - not line or pie.
    Hope this helps,
    - Scott -

  • How to change the colors for individual bubbles in a bubble chart?

I have a report where in a bubble chart needs to be shown with different colors for bubbles available in the chart. I cant find any option to select individual bubbles and format the color options.
Any guidance or suggestions solving this would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vinay

Thanks JB for your reply, I see in format chart data there is are two sections:
    1. Positional
    2. Conditional
In Positional - I have the type and color changes for the bubbles but if I change any color in that all the bubbles are simultaneously getting the same color code.
Not sure if there is any other setting. Please share me your thoughts on this.
    Thanks again

  • Formating Line thickness for lines in graphs with more than 6 lines.

I have a line graph with more than 6 lines on it and I'm trying to make them all 1px.
I can specify a line thickness for the first 6 lines but after that, the lines go back to the default thickness.
Is it possible to change the default line thickness for a graph or format the line thickness for the 7th line and more?

Good news! I found out how to format more than 6 lines of data and it's really simple to do!
In the bottom left hand corner of the Format Chart Data, next to the Clear All button, is a button marked ADD.
If you click this button, another row is added allowing you to format the 7th line of data.
Click again and you get a row for the 8th line and keep clicking to add more lines.
I'm making a note of it here in case it is useful to someone out there who searches on this problem in the future.

  • Can you create a BAND chart in Webi?

Can a Band chart be constructed in Webi 4 and if so, how?
I've attached a screen shot of an example.

    Hi Steve,
To create layers in the charts we can set measure properties as per our requirements.
    1. Create chart with multiple Measure objects
    2. Right click on chart and select format chart option
    3. In Global Tab go to Measure Properties section
    4. Select required chart format against each measure object.
    5. Final output
